From your subject line, you say you are using a G5. This is the last gen of Power PC processors, not intel. The SDK requires an Intel processor.

    No such thing as that

  • Problems downloading iPhone SDK

I just recently signed up for an Apple Developer account and am trying to download the iPhone SDK. When I start the download it never actually downloads and eventually times out. My problem is also described in these threads:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11033796&#11033796
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11000681&#11000681
In those threads I have tried the fixes and still been unable to accomplish the download.
I have tried on computers running Vista and Windows 7 and on my Mac running Snow Leopard.
On Windows (either one) after clicking on the link it comes up with the file information, I click save, and then the file download dialog opens. No transfer rate ever appears and neither does any indicator that I have downloaded any of the file. Eventually it times out.
On the Mac I tried downloading with Safari. Safari gets 1.1kb of the file and then tells me it will be many, many years before the download completes and eventually errors out that the server has not responded.
I currently have a 7 mb DSL connection. I am able to download any other file in the developer release section including X-Code and the Mac SDKs. In fact I have installed both X-Code and the Mac SDKs already and they were fine.
    Other things I have tried:
    1. Multiple browsers on Windows (Firefox, Chrome) with similar errors.
    2. Hooking straight into the modem (normally hooked into wireless N router)
    3. Disabling the modem firewall and Windows Firewall (Macs firewall is off by default. Is that normal?)
    4. using the trick from the other threads of changing http to https. For me it makes no difference.
    5. My work computers (with the same ISP) have no problems downloading the file. However with no disc drive, and with the USB ports disabled that doesn't really help me much. I only tried to see if they would work with my login since another thread suggested some users were being cut off.
Something else I do not understand is why I have to download the SDK with X-Code. Since I already have the latest version installed it seems like Apple could be saving on bandwidth there. No big deal but just kind of strange.
Any help anyone could give me would be appreciated.

Alright it turns out it was actually the DSL modem. Apparently the last major firmware update causes it to have problems downloading specifically from Apple servers. Both iTunes HD content and large downloads from Apple servers are unable to be downloaded. SD content, music, and downloads under roughly 1 gb are unaffected.
The modem is the 2Wire 2701. I actually managed to find an older modem that worked and downloaded the SDK fine. At this point I am looking around for a new modem just so in the future I will be able to download updates etc.
Also after a lot of searching it turns out that Qwest doesn't cap their service at all. Even the one report with a limit I turned up turns out that it was either true only back then or was part of a trial that ended. At this point Qwest does not cap at all.
Take a hint if you are going to respond to a post try to be helpful. If you are not actually going to help troubleshoot don't both.
But you did use an emoticon. So at least you were useless . . . with style.

  • Can't install iphone SDK

    Hello, I'm new programming iphone.
I have bought a Mac Mini with Mac Os x 10.5.5 operating system and an iphone.
I've downloaded the "iphone SDK" and when i start the installation process I can't check the option "iphone SDK", but the installer let me check the rest of the options.
Is the problem my operating system, the Mac mini,....?? do i install another version? with one? The mac os x 10.5.5. is leopard??? or is another??
Please help me to find the way.
    Thanks

How new is your Mac Mini? If it's a PowerPC processor, the iPhone SDK won't install.

  • Problems Installing J2SE SDK on Win XP Home

Hi, I'm having serious trouble trying to install the Java 2 SDK onto my
    PC.
    I have tried installing 2 different versions;
    j2sdk-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p, and
    j2sdk-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.
Both are the offline installation versions which I burned to separate
CD-ROMs in the last 4 months or so. Whenever I try to install either version,
I get the following error message during the "copying of files" stage of the
    installation process:
"Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is
corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error
reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."
Also, during one of my failed installation attempts, I received the following
error message instead of the one above:
"Error 1772. There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program
run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support
    personnel or package vendor."
I have only received the Error 1772 on one occasion, every other attempt to
install one of the packages has resulted in an Error 1335.
The system I am trying to install it on is an Athlon 2600 with 256mb of RAM,
running Win XP Home Edition with Service Pack One.
The strange thing is, is it that it is only this PC which the problem occurs
on. I have successfully installed the 1_4_2_03 version of the
SDK onto my (rather antiquated) laptop, which has an AMD K6 400MHz, 96mb of
RAM, and running Windows 98. Also, I have just successfully installed the
1_4_2_04 version onto another different PC, which has an AMD K6 450MHz,
96mb of RAM and running Windows ME. Both of these versions were installed off
the very same CDs that are causing me all the problems mentioned above with my
PC running XP, so it suggests that there is no problem of corruption of the
    installation files.
I have only managed to find information about this problem on a couple of
other sites, and I have tried every one of the suggestions that people in
a similar predicament have tried. These failed attempts include:
    - Performing a 'clean boot' before installing the SDK.
    - Swapping the slots that the PC's memory modules are in.
    - Format of hard drive and complete re-installation of Windows.
I really am at a complete loss as to how to get Java up and running on my PC,
so if anyone out there knows how to fix the problem, please, please let me
    know.
    Thanks,
    Steve.

I can't offer resolution of the problem, but a couple of alternatives come to mind.
Obviously, this one computer has something in it that is causing the problem. It's probably an interaction involving Windows and the hardware. Windows SP2 may be a solution; install it when available, and try again.
The SDK installation in C:\j2sdk1.4.2_0x does not involve any Registry entries - they're for the public JRE installed in Program Files. You can copy the j2sdk1.4.2_0x directory from another machine, avoiding the install; you just won't have the public JRE. Copy java.exe and javaw.exe to System32 to allow naked java/javaw commands to work.

  • Problem in iPhone SDK Sample: [CrashLanding ]

iPhone SDK build : build 9M2199a
    Sample: CrashLanding
    Version: 1.7
OpenGL swap buffer method seems to fails sometimes resulting in a crappy blink display. The display seems split into two images. The screen goes messy, I can view the backbuffer blinking over frontbuffer with no drawing update on it.
    Thanks,
    Julien Meyer
    Jadegame.com

I developed my application based on the CrashLanding sample. I have inherited the same rendering failure. The swap occurs, but it's presenting stale data for one of the frames. The stale data appears to be the first frame rendered. The failure occurs either immediately, or not at all. Restarting the application usually makes the problem go away.
Has anyone determined a fix for this?
    Thank you,
    Joel-

  • Problem installing android-sdk from AUR using yaourt

    Hi all,
I use yaourt to install packages from the AUR but I'm having an issue with android-sdk.
Whenever I run 'yaourt -S android-sdk' it seems to detect that the 'java-runtime' is not installed.
However, I do have sun's jre and jdk installed (I was having applet issues with openjdk) and it detects this when it actually starts installing it.
But it just reinstalls the package and quits without installing the android sdk. If I run yaourt again, the same thing happens.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?
I could download the tar.gz from google but I'd rather keep everything handled by arch package management.

Is that a show stopper for yaourt?  I use aurbuild and did that install the other night.  It tripped over the java runtime and pitched a warning, but the build worked and it installed.
I could download the tar.gz from google but I'd rather keep everything handled by arch package management.
Even if you hand build the AUR in a directory of your choice, the resultant package is still integrated into your Arch system using the -U option of pacman.  Regadrless of the front end (Yaourt, aurbuild, or roll-your-own), pacman tracks the package as 'Foreign'.  FYI.

  • XCode freezes when opening project after installing iPhone SDK 3.2 beta

I have problem opening up existing XCode projects, and creating new XCode projects.
If I open an existing XCode project, no window appears and XCode becomes non-responsive.
If I create a new XCode project, it shows me the window to create new project, but after entering the project name, XCode becomes non-responsive.
I've played around with the settings and found out that if I go to
Preferences>Code Sense and untick the Indexing>'Enable for all projects'
The problem is solved. But with that turn, I no longer have auto-completion.
I have tried a few methods to solve this but none was working
    1) I thought the problem was due to documentation. In Preferences>Documentation, I see "Mac OS X 10.6 Core Library" and "iPhone OS 3.2 Library" showing "Getting..." all the time. I compared the file sizes of the docsets to my laptop (no problem with XCode) and there's a big difference in file size. So I copied these files from my laptop to the Mac with problem. This does not solve the problem.
    2) Clear cache .
    3) Disable indexing. Quit XCode. Start XCode and enable indexing. Then quit XCode and start project.
    4) Uninstall XCode completely with sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all , and then reinstall iphonesdk_3.0__snow_leopard_final. I verifed that I was able to open projects normally. Then I installed iphonesdk_3.1_with_xcode_3.2_final__snow_leopard_10a432, followed by
    iphonesdk_3.2_beta_with_xcode3.2.2. Problem comes back
    5) I tried to clear the files below but it does not help
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Xcode.plist
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Xcode
    ~/Library/Caches/xcodebuild
    ~/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/
Anyone able to point me to a solution? Thanks

Hello honcheng & welcome to discussions.
I'd recommend doing a custom install during the iPhone OS 3.2 beta installation instead, and putting it into a separate location from the release tools...
I would also suggest participating in the beta forums as well.

  • How to install IPhone SDK on Windows XP      ?

  • Help-I downloaded iPhone SDK - Installed, but I cannot see it.

I have a PPC G5 2GB of RAM running Leopard.
I installed iPhone SDK but when I use XCode 3.1 Beta, no iPhone projects show up nor does the documentation for the iPhone APIs show up either.
Does the iPhone SDK only work for Intel architectures?
    Thanks,
    Jim

I have a Rev A G4 PowerBook, and from the individual packages on the SDK dmg I was able to install the "Aspen" simulator files. I had to put them into the Developer's folder for everything to work. When I run the simulator I only have access to photos, preferences, addresses and safari. Fun to play around with - but it is only a simulated iPhone (we Canadians must be happy with that for now). I'm trying to build a simple app in xcode now.
    Good luck...
