Problem installing iTunes update on Mac mini.

The software update utility on my Mac mini tells me there is an iTunes update. When I attempt to install it, I get the message "The file iTunesXPatch.pkg couldn't be found on the server swcdn.apple.com.
Any suggestions?

Howdy axolotl47,
It sounds like you are trying to update iTunes but are getting this error message when you try. You can also download the iTunes application  from the website directly, and install it to get up to date with iTunes.
Here is the link to the webpage to download the application:

  • Problems installing OSX Lion - new Mac Mini 2011

    Hi!
I'm having major problem with my brand new Mac Mini.
I wanted to upgrade it right away after reading so many succeful upgrading reports on various forums so I bought a 120GB Intel 320 SSD disk and 2x4 GB of Kingston 1333mhz ram. I swapped the drives right away and idiotically used to original drive in a case to create an external installation USB-drive (my 4GB USB drives didn't work).
I then created a bootable USB-disk with the external original drive and tried to install but only get the circle with slash after selecting the drive in the "options" menu. If I remove the USB-drive I get a flashing folder icon. If start holding down Command + S I get a message saying that the "version of OSX is not supported on this platform".
I also tried using the Recovery Assistant HD to create a bootable recovery tool but that gives the same results.
    In short:
I can't install OSX Lion on a brand new Mac Mini with upgraded HD and Ram. I don't have the original installation anymore.
    Am I out of luck?

Internet Recovery solved this problem. Option+Command+R.

  • Problems Installing Windows 7 on Mac Mini

Hello everyone!  So I am attempting to instal Windows 7 on my Mac Mini and I am very confused.  Apples guide isn't as descreptive as I would hope and the options for alternative methods are mixed in with what is necessary and isn't worded well if you as me.  I have read other guides but hit a road block.   Currently I have a new Mac Mini with Mountain Lion 10.8.3, I have a retail copy of Windows 7 DVD with a new key, I have an Apple SuperDrive and I have a USB flash drive with the Bootcamp 5 support software.
I guess the first and important question is:  Is that all I need?  Apple's guide lists additonal/alternate things I will need that confused me.
Next:  I attempted it with what I had.  I only selected Install Windows 7, partioned my harddrive.  That went smoothly.  It then rebooted and started Windows installation.  I selected Custom install, I selected the boot camp partion, format the partion but then received an error message that read "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.  See the Setup log files for more information"  I read a few post regarding that stating to remove all external harddrives which I did.  All I have plugged in is the power cord, hdmi cable, and the superdrive and I am still getting the error.  Any help getting past this would be greatly appreciated.

Is your Windows 7 Disc a full edition or an upgrade edition of Win7?

  • New mac user - problem installing OS X on mac mini 2012

I have just purchased a 10 month old mac mini which the previous owner had erased all of his files from before he shipped it to me. I decided I would do a fresh install of Mavericks so as to be sure I was starting with a clean system. I read up on this and then booted with cmd-R, then used the disk utils to erase the Macintosh HD partition so as to start clean, then used the Install OS X option and agreed to the T&Cs. At this point it asks for my Apple ID and so I provide this, but I am then told that I cannot download Lion as it is not available to this Apple ID. Hmmm.
I actually want to put Mavericks on the mac (which I understood to be free now) rather than Lion but I seem to be stuck at this point. Can anybody help please - but remember that I am new to mac/osx so explain clearly. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up Linc. I went back to the Internet Recovery and it accepted my Apple ID this time but interestingly downloaded and installed Mountain Lion! I expected it to install the original Lion version (as this is what I purchased) or perhaps take me straight to Mavericks as it is the latest version, but to install the intermediate version seems odd. Anyway, it worked and everything seems to run fine so I am now downloading Mavericks as I write this.
Thanks to all for the help.
    Terry

  • Problem installing iTunes update: "Can't start" iTunes "because MSVCR80.dll is missing" from my computer. Please help!

Please help! I tried to update my iTunes as prompted, but it did not install correctly, and now I am getting the following message and do not know how to fix the problem:
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling this program to fix the problem."
Another window gives me this message:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)"
BUT I AM AFRAID  TO REINSTALL iTUNES and lose my library! Would greatly appreciate learning how to resolve this porblem without losing my music!
    Cheers!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Unable to install Itunes update on mac

This may sound stupid but I am not at all technology savvy. I tried updating my itunes from whatever it is currently to the latest update and it downloaded but won't install because it said my osx or something was too outdated? I have a MacBook I got on Ebay not too long ago and I believe it's a 2010. I never downloaded anything on it so it just has whatever came on it. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me figure out how to update this so I can sync music onto my phone!

First thing to do is click the apple again and click Software Update.  That should let you on-line update to 10.6.8.  Then you need to decide if you want to go to Lion, 10.7.5 or Mavericks, 10.9.1.
You can definitely go to Lion, to go to Mavericks your Mac must be in the compatible list, http://www.apple.com/osx/specs which it probably is.
If so, to go to Mavericks after the 10.6.8 update, click the App Store in Finder, Applications.  Then search for Mavericks, and you can purchase for on-line download for $20.

Next I went to iTunes to manually install (as suggested by error message) and got message that parts are missing?; tried to reinstall iTunes but it says mobile component is missing. I'm running Windows7. Help!

    Hey judylinszross,

  • Problem installing iTunes  11.4.0.18

I am having problem installing iTunes update version 11.4.0.18 - Please . I appreciate help in this matter.

    Hello,
I suggest that you follow the instructions in this Apple troubleshooting article.

  • I have just update my mac mini server to OX Yosemite, but now the iTunes is not working at all.

I have just updated my Mac Mini Server (Mid 2011) to OS Yosemite ver 10.10, after the update, iTunes is not working, and i have tried to reinstall iTunes over and over again but it was not successful , please advise if you have a solution or share similar problems. Thank you.

You have to upgrade to 10.6.8 to be able to download iTunes 10.7 or 11.  The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard.
The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion.

  • "Problem When Printing" error on Mac Mini

    Hi all,
I just recently updated my Mac Mini from 10.3 to 10.4. Instead of Archive and Install I formatted and did a clean install.
I have my printer set up, however whenever I try and print anything from any application I get a very unhelpful "Problem when printing" error, and nothing prints.
I also get the same error when trying to save to PDF.
My printer is a HP Deskjet 3750, and the driver is the one included with 10.4 (as per HP's instruction), but I don't think it's a driver problem as Save to PDF gives me the same error.
I've already tried repairing permissions. Anyone know what could be causing this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Bugger. PSR is often a winner
You could try installing Gutenprint 5.0.1 available from Sourceforge (it's about 15MB). It's an updated version of the included GIMP-Print drivers and may repair/replace/install some of the core files. Otherwise you may have to contact Apple and see if you can get 10.4.9 mailed to you.

  • Apple TV - iTunes Home Sharing - Mac mini - Not Working!!!

Hi everyone, I am in urgent need of help here!
I use the latest Mac mini to hold my iTunes Library to stream it over to my Apple TV with Home Sharing; however, there is a problem - it doesn't work anymore!
If I use my iMac or MacBook Pro, the Home Sharing works great to the Apple TV, without a single problem. For the past week and a half now though, my Mac mini just doesn't want to stream anything over, despite still appearing under the "Computers" column on the home screen of the Apple TV interface.
When I select my Mac mini, I get this seemingly endless loading screen:
    http://goo.gl/s0Qg1
When that loading screen does end though, I get this:
    http://goo.gl/xj3eY
It says "Could not connect to the Mac mini Library - Make sure your computer has iTunes open, and that it's on the same network as Apple TV."
I always verify that my iTunes is open on the Mac mini and that both the Mac mini and Apple TV are on the same network, and still nothing works.
Is there just some kind of issue with streaming the iTunes Library to the Apple TV via Home Sharing that I'm missing? There shouldn't be, but it's a very consistant problem that has come and gone away at random times, but now it seems to be a permanent and upsetting problem.
If anyone can help me on this matter, please send your helpful words because I would like to fix this problem and not deem my Mac mini as a waste of money. I actually bought the Mac mini for the purpose of streaming my iTunes Library, rather than to bog down my iMac with lag and memory being chewed up, because I need it being fast for my work.
    Thank you!

I've got the same problem. Bought a second Apple TV2 a couple of weeks ago and set it up to work with both my iMac and MBP - no problems. Both Apple TV's worked perfectly from both computers until... after a long night at work, the newest one decided to display a message telling me an update was available. Yes, you guessed it! I updated!
Now, although this new Apple Tv displays the libraries from both machines, I get the messages in the original post when I try to access my iMac account - no problem though with my MBP account. Both machines have the up-to-date versions of iTunes. Thank goodness I did not update the older Apple TV2 box!
I echo the sentiments of all the other posts - it is about time Apple pulled their finger out and sorted this mess.
I wonder how many other people have the same problem?

  • Update my mac mini to mavericks and stay compatible?

Planning to update my mac mini to new mavericks operating system this week, but am concerned about my old, but loved, ipad. The ipad is the original ipad that I sync with the photos and music on my mac mini. Ipad is running ios 5.1.1. Anyone know of any reason I should be concerned before I make the jump to mavericks? Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iTunes 11.1.3 (which is the most recent iTunes version) works without any problem with the 1st generation iPad and with iOS 5.1.1. Moreover, if you have got your software updated, you are already using this iTunes version, so nothing will happen after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.

Remote Disc Can't recognize Blank disc, but it does recognize other discs. I am trying to burn something from my itunes on my mac mini to a blank disc on my windows computer. What could be wrong?
I can see other discs such as music and stuff so I know I have installed it correctly but how come I can't see the blank disc that I need to burn?

You can't burn discs remotely, you can only read data discs remotely (i.e. you cannot play movie DVDs either).
Either copy the files to the remote computer or get an external drive.

  • I cannot get my ipod touch or iphone to be recognized by Itunes on my mac mini. Only when i download itunes each time afresh, will it show up the first time. Then these devices will not be recognized at other times. Is it because i am not uninstalling it

I cannot get my ipod touch or iphone to be recognized by Itunes on my mac mini. Only when i download itunes each time afresh, will it show up the first time. Then these devices will not be recognized subsequently. Is it because i am not uninstalling itunes before I download it? Surely this is a basic thing, ie that my devices need to recognize each other?

  • I recently installed itunes update and can no longer connect to network nor internet

I recently (sept 2013) installed itunes update and can no longer connect to a network nor internet wired /wireless. I know it is not the gateway as other devices work. Please help. I am not very knowledgable so exact instructions will be most helpful.

Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.
    Good luck!
