Problem installing on 64 bit system..

I recently changed my computer from Windows XP pro 32 bit edition over to the 64 bit edition. When I went to install Itunes, it said that it required quicktime to operate. I thought this was a little odd, due to the fact that they came packaged together, but I decided to go and download and install quicktime by itself anyways. Well, I downloaded the program, installed it, and then tried to run it, so that I could be sure Itunes would be good to go. I was faced with the following error message:
QuickTime failed to initialize. Error # -2096
Please make sure that QuickTime is properly installed on this computer.
What should I do? I figured the problem might be that I have a 64 bit system, and I tried to download the 64 bit edition of itunes, but the only 64 bit version I could find was a vista edition. Someone help!

I can sense your frustration, Sometime they are so good here and other times you can hear the crickets if you know what I mean or one hand clapping. I don't think I can help but based on my experience on my work computer, I would suggest purging all the I-tunes and quicktime stuff, download and re-install a 32bit or older version in the high 7s and see what happens. Good luck

  • MSComDlg.ICommonDialog Problem with Windows 64-bit system

    Hi all!
I try to use the common Windows dialog box for saving files. For this I'm using the ActiveX-class "MSComDlg.ICommonDialog" with the propertynode input "Filter" for the file types. It's the standard "SaveAsType.vi" (somewhere in the forum).
Everything works fine on a 32-bit Windows system. But when I run the code on a 64-bit system I can not save my file with the last file-extension in the box field. I always get a error-message: "The file name is invalid!" This happens only when the last box-element is selected. All other run normal.
    So for example:
    If may box array is
    Matlab Files (*.mat)|*.mat
    Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt
    Excel Files (*.xls)|*.xls
and I select to save as *.xls and write as filename "Hello" in, I get on the 64-bit machine the error:
    "Hello
    The file name is invalid"
When I change the order of the box array *.xls will go but the new last element will produce this error.
    So, can someone help me?
    Kind regards,
    llpauli

  • Problem installing Win7 64 bit on early 2008 iMac 2.66 GHz

I have read posts elsewhere that, contrary to what Apple says, it is possible to install 64 bit Windows 7 on an early 2008 iMac 8,1. The problem I'm having is that I can't get the iMac to boot from the 64 bit Windows 7 install disc. The error I'm getting is "Bootmgr is missing". I can view files on the disc just fine when I'm in OS X, so I know the bootmgr file is on the disc. But it refuses to boot from it. I know this hardware can support 64 bit cause I can boot OS X 10.6.2 into 64 bit mode.
Anyone else run in to this? Thx for any help.

Thanks Hatter. That did the trick. Actually, the link you sent me lead me to this site:
    http://blog.andersonshatch.com/2009/01/11/windows-7-x64-on-a-macbook-pro-guide/
    That site links to this:

and that's what I used to create a DVD that was bootable by my early 2008 iMac.

  • Solaris8: Problem installing on a SCSI System

    I have this hardware:
Pentium 200 MMX, 128MB, Tekram 390F PCI SCSI Controller, 2 SCSI UW harddisks, 2 cdrom, zip-drive, (all SCSI !),...
With Solaris 8 I encounter the following installation problem:
I tried several times to install Solaris 8 on the hardware above, but all the time I get the error message, that Solaris cannot find a harddrive to install the Solaris Software to. But using format and fdisk works fine, I can edit the table of the SCSI harddisks... I use the specific SCSI-driver for my Tekram adapter, but it doesn't work either...
With a normal IDE-harddrive I don't encounter this problem, and the installation goes fine...
How is it possible to install Solaris on my SCSI-System without exiting the installation programm ???
    I hope anyone could help...

The SCSI real-mode driver probably doesn't support LBA and you were most likely using the Installation CD which requires LBA support.
Try using the Solaris 1of2 CD to install.

  • Installing 64-bit System

I assume that if I boot the 64-bit kernel from the install CD that installing Solaris will install the 64-bit system. Is this correct?
    Thanks.

When I boot the Solaris 10 install CD on my Opteron
system, it always boots the 32-bit kernel. How do I
force it to boot the 64-bit kernel? You cannot. The install CD only contains a 32-bit kernel.
But it includes 32- and 64-bit install packages!
As soon as you boot the installed Solaris from HDD, you should
    get a 64 bit kernel.

Could someone explain to me why I am unable to run it as a standard user, and what I can do to make starcraft fit my screen as a root user, please?

You need 'schroot -p' to load up the proper env variables. Also you need to upgrade the config, newer version of schroot, I believe the config file in the wiki is already outdated.
And starcraft only runs in ONE resolution (its a reaaallly old game), so you'd need to change your X11 resolution or run it in windowed mode. My startup script for SC changes the resolution automagically for me.

  • Labview 8 for 64 bit system

can labview be installed in 64 bit systems? (say, labview version 8)

In addition to Saverio's comments, your question is way too vague.
Is this under windows or Linux?
If Windows, what is the windows version? (64 bit XP, vista, or 7)
LabVIEW 8.0 is very old and obsolete. It is no longer even listed on the LabVIEW OS support matrix.
(For example LabVIEW 2009 is the first version supported on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit))
    Please provide more detail.

  • Partclone and 64 bit systems

Is it still true, as it says in the ArchWiki, that Partclone cannot be installed in 64 bit systems? (See: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Partclone).
How would I know this from looking at AUR? I don't see anything in the entry for Partclone that indicates this? (See: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23841).
Also, as side question: Can does anyone know if partclone can make an image of the / partition from which the system is currently booted? Or would I have to boot into a live CD or some other environment to make an image of my / partition?
    Thanks.

  • Having a problem with wireless connection. On my Windows XP 32 bit system and a 6510 printer, initi

On my Dell Latitude D620, Windows XP 32 bit system and my 6510 printer wireless connection (Linksys EA4500) , everything works fine after the computer is booted.  After a period of time (usually overnight), I lose connection to the printer (the scanner icon with a red x is shown on my Windows task bar and I can't print.  Ran Windows Fix and the HP fix programs.  The only thing that solves it is to reboot the computer.  A second symptom is that my IE8 stops connecting to the internet at the same time (gives a 'waiting for' response that never changes).  Firefox still connects OK when this is happening.  So I suspect the problem isn't with the printer, but with my Windows set up.  It is a fresh XP SP3 install (hard drive crashed, but it happened before also).  I reset IE, checked my proxy, no malware, happens with or without firewalls and security programs.
Hoping that someone else has run into this problem.  Been all over Google, and the IE doesn't work / Firefox works is fairly common, but none of the fixes helps.

If you want you can reload Firefox 4.0 or the last "old" version is 3.6.16 and is available here:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Just reinstall your choice of FF. The bookmarks are in a different directory and are NOT overwritten. Some of the Add-ons that worked in 3.6 DO NOT work with 4.0, pay attention and head any warnings when you start 4.0.
I had to disable extensions: Flashblock and WOT
Firefox SafeMode? - A troubleshooting mode.
1.You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.

  • What to re-install from Lenovo on a Windows 7 64-bit system

    Hi,
As we already have volume licences for Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit systems, I made a clean install on my new ThinkPad X201,  Type: 3323, Model: 8TG. Now, apart from the rescue image in the special partition that was there when the computer arrived, I would like to have all other "Lenovo features" that were pre-installed with the factory installation that came with the computer.
I have downloaded and installet the ThinkVantage toolbox and ThinkVantage System Update. It seems that Access Connections also is installed and the Power Manager.
However I have also downloaded and installed the Fingerprint Software for Windows 7, 64-bit, but I am not sure where to find it!!!
What else would you recommend that I download and install to make it work like the pre-installed x201 version from Lenovo?
Also I would like to know if I should use Windows 7's system image builder or Lenovo's own version?
And what about the migration tool from Lenovo? Is it better in anyway than Easy File Transfer that came with Windows 7??
    Thanks!

  • How can I install the 32-bit version of Lightroom 4.4 on my 64-bit Windows 7 system?

I need to install the 32-bit version of LR 4.4 on my 64-bit Windows 7 system because, for some reason, LR 64-bit is not compatible with something in my computer system.
How can I make this happen?
    Thanks,
    Mary

The first stage of the installation process for a download is to extract all the installation files into an "Adobe" folder. Go find that folder and look inside, and down at the bottom level of the folder hierarchy are two files: Setup32.exe and Setup64.exe. So uninstall the 64bit version and double-click on "Setup32.exe" to install the 32 bit version.
BTW, what problems are you having with the 64 bit version?
