Problem installing PSCS4 Extended

Help
I have been trying to install PS CS4 extended for days now. First let me tell you I'm running Windows 7 ultimate, I have two hard drives with at least 3gb of space free on each. 6 gb om memory and a middle of the range graphics card ATI firegl V5600.
To start with I had the Creative suite CS4 installed which worked fine. But I wanted the features in Photoshop extended, so got this from Adobe on DVD. First I tried installing it straight of and although it seem to install, it only run as normal photoshop.
I then read various tips on this site and de-activated the Creative suite, de-installed it and then run the Microsoft and Adobe scripts to remove all entries on my system. This took some doing as at first I got the Adobe script saying Windows install clean-up could not be found. It took me some time to find it as it was not at first listed anywhere and a seach would not find it either.
Anyway it suddenly turned up on the program lists and I opened it and then run the Adobe script and it found the entries and I told it to remove them. This is seem to do.
I re-booted the pc and installed the Photoshop extended. The run it and I still only get Photoshop normal. I have made a case with Adobe and so far they have only come back with what I have already done.
Should mention that I have been using upgrades since version 7 of Photoshop, but have not go any of these installed on this new pc. Did install version CS3 to see if that would help, but that stopped the new Photoshop from installing at all?
I have installed this same DVD on my laptop with is running XP 2002 service pack 2 and it works fine.
The main differences between the two are (apart from the laptop being very much slower as it's not so high a spec machine). I have all the upgrades since my version seven still on there. Never put Creative suite on as I was going to replace this machine with my Mac at some point.
So what do I do now guys. Feel like throwing the lot away.

Hi Mylenium
Thanks for responding. Going back to what was said, I installed the CS3 first after doing all the cleaning to see if that would help as I though it could be a problem as I had a upgrade version. Then I tried to install the upgrade version but as I said it would not install at all kept saying it had errors.
I will see if I can find any files hiding but with this version 7 finding where they are is a problem as well.
I have run the MS cleanup install and the Abobe batch file and nothing shows up on either of them. I have just deleted all I can find related to Abode from the system can't find any +caps.db+ (installer database) and anything related to PCD (licensing) . Check the register and removed anything with Adobe on it.
Will re-start later and see if anything works.

• Problems installing CS5 extended

I purchased CS% in march and as a bonus Adobe sent me CS5 extended. Except I have never been able to get it installed. When I install the upgrade it is same thing as the regular CS5.
I am not sure what i am doing wrong. So i have unistalled everything and just installed CS%, not the extended yet. Hoping someone can give me some suggestions.

Do a search on adobe's site for the specs of cs5 and make sure your system will support it. Also see if your OS is listed as being supported. It is possible that cs5 is too old for your system.
For now all we can do is guess. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

• Problems installing plug-ins (and even Adobe updates) to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop.Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."

Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop. (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop. Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install. Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." Any solution?

CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
and manually download/install from there.

• Problems installing Photoshop CS6 Extended

Hello to whoever is reading this - I have a problem installing Photoshop CS6 Extended (as you can guess from the title) due to the fact that I download a pre release version of it (not the beta) And I've looked everywhere on my laptop and I still can't install the trial even though I've deleted everything relevant to the pre release version, it can't be my normal version of Photoshop CS5 can it? It'sonly occured to the Photoshop CS6 Extended trial, all the other Creative Suite trials from Adobe Download Assisstant work.

Check the start page of this forum or the PS forum. There used to be special threads listed in teh yellow info boxes with info on how to resolve these issues.

I have been trying to install cs5 extended from the adobe website.
people keep telling me that my problem is my computer doesn't meet the system requirements but I have checked them and it does.
Also my sister has the exact same computer and she had no problem installing it.
It gets about 19% through the installation before it stops and says: there were problems with your installation.
Could someone help me please, I'm buying photoshop through my school soon but I don't get it for a few more weeks and I have an photography assesment due in a week.

Perhaps it doesn't, after all? I'm sorry to say so, but just saying that your computer meets the specs when we don't know what they exactly are is not useful in any way. Please provide the full specs and hardware details.
ERROR: - Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86: User canceled installation
Why does this happen? Do you really cancel the installation or is this a potential external issue? If the Microsoft installer is cancelling itself (it is a separate pop-up panel in teh main install), then this would be further indication that something is wrong with your computer in the first place and it doesn't qualify...

• Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop

Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on an ASUS netbook with 2mb ram. I installed both Air 3.7 and BBC iPlayer Desktop using Google Chrome. I downloaded 3 BBC programmes. Two ran fine but the third wouldn't start and I kept getting a message to try again later. I deleted this programme and downloaded it again, with the same result.
So I uninstalled both Air and the BBC iPlayer Desktop, the Air exe file and the two folders at the following locations:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ and
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BBCiPlayerDesktop.xxx
Since doing this each time I try to install Air either on its own or with the BBC iPlayer software I get the message part way through installation:
"Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have run the Microsoft Fix it programme and still get the same result.
I have tried everything on your Trouble Shooting page apart from the bit about the elevated command prompt, but as I'm the sole user and administrator, that seems unnecessary.
I have closed Chrome and tried installation using Windows Explorer but with the same result.
I have tried all the above with Microsoft Security Essentials running and disabled. And I have tried the same with Astrill on and off.
I have had a response from the BBC with much the same advice as appears on your trouble shooting page.
Here is the Air installation log, followed by the MSI log.

• Problem Installing 817 on Windows 2000 with RAID Array

I am having a problem installing Oracle under windows 2000 which has 2 x 60 GB discs configured in RAID array. When I run the setup program the cursor goes busy for about 10 seconds and returns back to normal and nothing happens !. No errors nothing.

Here are some possible solutions:
1. The installation notes state that you must be logged on as Administrator to be able to install 9i. Are you logged on as the Administrator? Being logged on as user01 with Administrator priviledges isn't the same as Administrator.
2. Is the disk full? If I remember my installation correctly, I needed 3 times the size of the files. The documentation will tell you how much space you need.
Hope these two questions help

• Creative Cloud: Problems installing Photoshop CS6

I have a license to Creative Cloud but I have problems installing and running Photoshop CS6. When I launch the program it says I can test Photoshop Extended for 30 days but then I need to buy a license. Additional information: 1) I did have Photoshop CS6 beta installed before. Now it is uninstalled (in the correct way from the Control Panel) but still same problem 2) All other Creative Cloud programs install and launch without problems. How do I solve this?

I tried to follow the advice. I removed all Creative Cloud programs. I
then cleaned twice using the cleaning options 3: Creative Cloud and
then 7: CS6. Then re-installed Adobe Application Manager and then
re-installed Photoshop CS6. Still same problem.
I have NOT yet tried to un-installed my old CS 5.5 Design Standard
package.I have also not un-installed my Lightroom 4. Is it necessary
also to remove those programs?
Kind regards

• Can't install Photoshop Extended on Mac 10.5.4 components failed

One of our professors has a brand new iMac running 10.5.4
The machine has 4 GB of ram and Photoshop has never been installed on this system before.
The only Adobe product on the machine is Acrobat 8. (Not the reader - the actual program.) I tried to install Photoshop Extended - not from the Creative suite DVD set, but as a stand alone product that we bought.
The problem is the software will not install. I get the error message that the components failed.
I am in the administrator account.
The installer runs very slowly and then says that of the three components (one being Photoshop) only the shared components installed. The other two failed.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
John

Routine maintenance is imperative.
I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) seldom helps.; Try it anyway, though.
====
Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large.
Also, from:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
NOTE:
There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction. The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.

I installed Sonic Extender and at first had no problem with it. Then I connected with a different internet connection and now it will not connect. What is the easiest way to get technical support help. I called and also submitted a request for someone to call me. I had no luck or help with either.

Hi Alex,
I tried the process you described on my machine using LabVIEW 7.1 and could not reproduce the behavior. If you can clarify the version you were using that will be helpful. I will have to clean a test machine and try it again without LabVIEW installed, and get back with you if the problem appears. In the meanwhile, I found the following KB which, while not referring to the exact same problem you are describing, does address the evaluation message issue. You can try to follow the steps at the end of the KB, and let me know if that worked.

• Can't Install CS3 Extended from the Installation CD

System: PC and Windows Vista Home Premium.
Problem:
Due to a conflict with Album DS I had to uninstall and reinstall CS Extended. However, when trying to re-install CS3 Extended:
Background/Attempts to fix:
- I can not launch the installation process from the program CD.
- Nor can I explore the CD. It appears as if there are NO files on it but it uses 721MB.
- Installation has no problem initiating on an XP laptop.
- I just installed Turbo tax on the Vista PC in the same drive so its not the drive.
- Right clicking on the Rom Drive in Windows Explorer gets me as far as the installation start screen. BUT when I click on this install button I get Specified file not found
HELP!

I spent over an hour with Adobe Support to no avail. Tried:
- different,external Rom Drive
- tried a SECOND install DVD I received from Adobe last(and first)
time I tried to install CS3
- a "modified start up" installation (disabled a bunch of things),
- installing under a new account
None of this worked.
What DID work was to copy the content of the install DVD onto my laptop then to a flash drive then onto my Vista system drive and install from there. I didn't even have to re-enter my serial number for some reason.
I never resolved the issue but I am now using CS3 again. Ouch.

• Problem Installing Applet

Hello. Having a little problem installing my applet. The package loads cleanly, but when I try to install the applet it blows up and returns an OP.error.E6.6A86. I looked this up and found out that it means SW_INCORRECT_P1P2. After looking at my code for the longest time, I can't figure out why this error would be thrown. I throw the error in my process method, but can't understand where it would come from in the install or constructor. Any help figuring this out is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Justin

I didn't have the select or deselect methods in my applet, so I added those also and then received the same error. So what I currently have is the previous code plus this:
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsppublic boolean select()
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp{

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsppublic void deselect()
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp{
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp return;
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp}
I can't help but think it's got to be some little thing, because it looks fine to me. I greatly appreciate the help. Justin.

• Problem installing 10.8.5 from usb - looping...

My HD failed. I installed new hardware. Went from Hitachi (2T) to WD (4T) - temp sensor not compatible so fan loud, but that's ok...
Tried to restore from time machine backup, but wouldn't work - something about recovery partition. Had already partitioned the new HD correctly (journaled, GUID). Read that I might try installing OSX to the new HD from USB first, but that all I had to do was go through the 1st reboot. Tried the stop the install at that point, but it wouldn't stop. Finally was able to point at USB disk, but keeps trying to install and now saying installer had a problem... Can't get the computer to start up from the USB drive even when I hold the option key down - just comes back saying there was a problem with the installation. When I look at disk utility I see a disk2, Mac OS Base System... Can't remove it even when repartitioning the new HD again. At a loss here on what the do now.
My ideas:
1. Create a new bootable USB?
2. Boot to Safe mode or somehow reset the HW somehow? PVRAM?
Help!

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure about the necessity of the first suggestion - I created a bootable USB drive from the 10.8 installer which I downloaded - it was in the Applications folder. I used a file in SharedSupport - InstallESD.dmg... Essentially I followed the DIY part of this link:
http://www.cultofmac.com/180925/how-to-make-a-bootable-disk-or-usb-drive-of-os-x -mountain-lion/
Safe mode - I thought I might be able to boot into safe mode from the USB - guess not.
I don't get much of an error now. All it says is:
There was a problem installing "Mac OS X".
Try reinstalling.
Then there is a button for OK. When you click OK - nothing happens.
Next to the apple (upper left) I see "OS X Installer". Then there is a File, Edit, Utilities and Window menus.
Utilities contains firmware password utility..., disk utility..., terminal..., netowkr utility..., and restore system from backup...
When I run disk utility here I see:
My new 4TB WDC and it's sub-entry - "Untitled 1".
When I look at Untitied 1 I see /Volumes/Untitled 1 mount point, Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
4TB, used 1.11GB, 3 folders, 2 files
SuperDrive (my dvd drive)
disk2
This is an apple disk image with a capacity of 1.19GB with a Apple Partition Map scheme
Under disk2 is "Mac OS X Base System"
This has a mount point of /, is Max OS Extended, is 1.19GB in size, and has 10,753 folders
and 35,620 files
8.03GB SanDisk
Mac OS X Install ESD - this is obviously my bootable drive for installing Mac OS
I've tried to re-partition the 4TB hard drive but it doesn't seem to remove the disk2 recovery partition. I have only re-partitioned the drive to a Mac OS Extended (Journaled), single partition... Interestingly the 8.03GB SanDisk moved above the line next to the 4TB. The disk2 drive is unchanged.
Perhaps I should reformat to a different method? or change from GUID? Seems like there is a separate "recovery partition" that I'm not able to clear or re-start the installation even though the drive is empty - or so I thought.
Interestingly, when I try to run Terminal... it doesn't respond. I get "-bash-3.2# " as a cursor, but it is unresponsive.
When I try to select - "Restore system from backup" there is no response - it's as if it's completely ignored.
I also just tried holding the "C" key during restart - same thing - it jumps to a window which says it's installing OSX for a few seconds, then the same error I outlined above.
