Problem installing Reader 9.4 when Acrobat Pro is installed.

When I try to install the new 9.4 Reader the installer tell me that I have a more functional product installed and terminates.  There is nothing in the customization tool that allows me to install both, only to determine which is primary if both are installed.
Ideas?

This shouldn't happen..
But it does.
Before instaling both, you may want to read the kb article at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333223.html
The short story is, even if you do succeed in installing both, this may only be the beginning of your problems.

where is the plug in tab option in the upper menu bar when acrobat pro is installed on a mac

When Acrobat is installed first, it does not have a Plug-ins menu. When you buy extra plug-ins for Acrobat, some plug-ins will add a Plug-ins menu. Some won't - some will add other menus, or buttons, or something else.
    So
    1. Make sure you have purchased the Mac plug-in(s) you need.
    2. Make sure they are installed.
    3. Make sure they are compatible with your version of Acrobat; the Mac is much less forgiving about versions, you need to check carefully.
    4. If the plug-in is compatible and installed perhaps it doesn't add a plug-ins menu.

  • When I try to save a form as "Reader Extended PDF" in Acrobat Pro, I get an error message "This document could not be reader enabled".

    Hello,
When I try to save a form as “Reader Extended PDF” in Acrobat Pro, I get an error message “This document could not be reader enabled”.
The steps I’m following are described below:
    1.    Insert electronic signatures
    - In Tasks, click on “Add New Field -> Digital Signature”.
    - Move the square to the place where you want to put the signature and click.
    - Fill in the “field name” with the name of the person who has to sign here.
    - When it is done, click anywhere on the screen.
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
    2.    Save the Form
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 on a W7 workstation
Here's a screenshot of the problem.
    Thanks a lot.

I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. The only way I can stop Acrobat is by means of the task manager. I tried to de-install and the re- install Acrobat but the behaviour is always the same. What can I do??

Have you opened Acrobat and gone to Help>Updates to get an updated install?

  • Why does acrobat reader 10 keep re-installing even though acrobat pro 11 installed

I have Acrobat Pro 11 installed, and even though I keep uninstalling (Windows 7, Programs and Features) Acrobat Reader 10, it keeps re-installing it.
How to I stop this from happening?

No, acrobat pro isn't doing it, it looks like updater is doing it.  It's as if updater still thinks acrobat reader 10 is installed and tries to update it for me.
And yes I am on a corporate network, but there are no 'AD policies' in place to install reader or update it.  And other users with Pro on their system don't have this issue.

  • Adobe CS3 Suite -- How to Get InDesign and Acrobat Pro to Install?

I uninstalled and deactivated my Adobe CS3 Design Premium from my 1st gen Macbook (2006) and installed it on my 3rd gen Macbook Air (2011). When I installed CS3 using the original discs, InDesign and Acrobat did not install properly. How to fix?
    My questions:
    1. Got any ideas how to install InDesign and Acrobat Pro without uninstalling the whole CS3, running the cleaner tool, and reinstalling everything again? I tried to rerun the installer just for InDesign and Acrobat Pro but I got the same result -- no install.
    2. Installing CS3 takes forever -- at least several hours. Is it because I'm sending it over my wireless network? (I'm "sharing" the DVD drive on my other Macbook because my Air doesn't have one.)
    Thanks so much!!
(More background, in case it's useful -- before installing CS3, I had run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to clean up the mess I made when I tried to migrate CS3 using Mac's migration assistant. I learned, thanks to this forum, that I couldn't use the Migration Assistant tomove CS3. I also found that the unistaller didn't transfer, so I manually deleted folders and then used the cleaner. It worked wel enough to allow me to install everything but InDesign and Acrobat Pro.)

Thanks Jeff (and Manish). I'm all for better reliability and a quicker installation.
This may seem like a dumb question, but how do I properly copy the CS3 install files onto a USB? Drag and drop everythng from the CD? Can I not just copy the files onto my desktop and install from there? That is what I thought Manish suggested, to install from the desktop.
I had tried this method. After copying the install files to the desktop, here's what happened: I clicked the setup application and it opened, but it immediately detected that I had CS3 installed and wouldn't let me go any further. Perhaps that was due to other problems resulting from use of the Migration Assistant.
Previously, when I used the install disk on the shared drive, I was able to open the setup and install the couple of CS3 programs that weren't installed the first time around. That installation attempt failed and led me here to my original post.
    Many thanks!

i have a problem, i bought lion but when i want to install he said me i need to "download osx lion server" i'm running with the last lion beta. how to update please?
ps: sorry for my english :S

You apparently are using a version of OS X you did not purchase using your Apple ID. Although you can download Mavericks you cannot install it over your current system. You must repartition your hard drive, then reinstall the version of OS X originally installed when it came new from the factory. That would be on the installer discs that should have come with the computer. If the computer did not come with discs from the factory but OS X was pre-installed (Lion or Mountain Lion) then you can perform an Internet Recovery:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I have Acrobat Pro 9 installed on Windows 8

I have Acrobat Pro 9 installed on Windows 8 and it asked me to download Adobe Reader 11.0.09 Font Packs - Asian and Extended Language Pack but it says I need Adobe Reader XI to be installed first.  Will this pack work with Acrobat Pro 9?  Is there a different pack for Acrobat Pro 9?  Thanks for any help.
Also: I am not doing anything with languages other than English.  I don't read them or write them.  I just use English. Why do I need such a pack?

    Hi Hanoch ,
Compatibility of Acrobat 9 with Windows 8 could be a reason that you are facing such an issue.
As Acrobat 9 is an older version ,that could be one of the reasons it is prompting you to download the Reader 11.0.09 Font Packs.
Would request you to check for an update first ,and if it fails try switching on to the latest version of Acrobat ,i.e 11.0.10.
    To check for Updates.
Launch Acrobat>Navigate to Help>Check for Updates.
You may also want to refer to the following link.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install a 64-bit Windows 7 or Vista version in your Mac. Make sure you downloaded these drivers > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630 Also, if you have the Snow Leopard DVD you used to upgrade your Mac or the OS X DVD that came with your Mac, you can use it to install the Boot Camp drivers

We have been unable to get the Adobe Acrobat Pro to install in German dispite selecting the specific download, and language settings, it simply has installed in English on our Switzerland users machine.
    Please advise on this.

Care to provide some screenshots of the install as well as the install logs perhaps? Also, what system language do you use or for that matter what systems actualyl to begin with? Installers fall back to the default language of the insatall package if they cannot detect the system language correctly and due to installer dependencies manual overrides may then not work and still wrong files be installed.
