Problem installing then removing Bootcamp and Windows XP on a MacBook Pro

Hello
I've tried to install Windows XP on a bootcamp partition of a machine running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I've made a FAT32 partition of 32 Gb with Bootcamp utility ( I've tried NTFS partition too ), I run the first part of the install of Windows which runs fine. When the computer reboot for the second part of the install, it stops with a disk error.
After several tries, I've decided to removed the Windows partition. I've used the bootcamp utility for that.  The partition is gone, but the computer still try to boot on Windows with, obviously, a disk error, and I have to press Alt to see the System partition and boot under Mac OS. Doing that confirm me that the Windows partition is gone, since I only see the system disk. Any idea to solve this problem ?
Thank you

Select the Mac OS X system in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.

  • Not able to adjust brightness while running bootcamp and windows 8 on a macbook pro

I have a Macbook pro with retinal display. I loaded windows 8 using bootcamp. The brightness of my screen cannot be increased beyond five boxes.

So it does go down and then up but not up enough to suit you?

  • What is the proper resolution to use with bootcamp and Windows 7 on a Macbook Pro Retina?

    Hi All,
Let me start by saying I have read numerous articles and blog posts about choosing the correct resolution to use when running Windows 7 via Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro Retina (15").  I have not found the "silver bullet" (correct resolution).  My eyes are sensitive to displays that are running in non-native resolutions (scaling).
When running the display in native resolution  (2880x1800) everything looks great, except that icons and text are way too small to read.  I have played with the zoom settings (150%, etc.).
When using any scaled resolutions, the display doesn't look as crisp and I get eye fatigue.  I have also tried Windows 8, with the same results (no surprise).
I would love to use this Macbook to run Windows 7 because the hardware is great, but it looks like I may have to switch back to Dell/Lenovo/HP.
Is there a proper or "best practice" resolution to run at in this scenario?  I want to give it one last try before putting the laptop away...
    Thanks for any help!
    Andrew

While I've never seen retina display, if you have not tried Hi-Contrast in Windows, you might find settings with it that are comforatable.
This is set with desktop rightclick->Personalize. You can vary desktop icon size in the View option above Personalize.
You can change most of what you see in Windows foreground/background colours & text with high contrast settings.
Also, text size in Windows browsers is variable with the Control an + and - key combo.
If the display you use is small maybe an external 24" or 27" monitor, if possible, would alleviate problem.
The attached pics are expadable by double click.

  • I have a problem with my headphone jack and i just bought my macbook pro 10 days ago., I have a problem with my headphone jack and i just bought my macbook pro 10 days ago.

I am having a problem with the jack in for the headphones. I have bought it brand new from a local authorised apple store about 10 days ago. As soon as I plugged in my headphones and tried them, the sound was coming out of one side of the headphone and the plug inside my macbook pro was loose. When i tried moving it the sound was coming out of the device. What can I do?

Take it back to the store you bought it from. It will definitely be taken care of

  • How can I remove the BootCamp partition? as the size i created ws too small to install MS Office on 64Bit Windows 8.1 on MacBook Pro (Aug'13)

How can I remove the BootCamp partition drive for Windows 8.1, as the size which I created was too small for me to install Microsoft Office onto Windows 8.1 64-BIt. The machine which I have is the MacBook Pro 13' inch purchased in August 2013.

Either use Paragon's CampTuneX to resize it or use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition and restore the drive to one partition. Then create a new, larger Boot Camp partition. This will remove/delete/erase your Windows system.

  • Bootcamp and windows 7 on 2006 Macbook 1.8

I was wondering if Windows 7 will work if installed via Bootcamp on a 1st gen Macbook White 1.8 Core Duo?
    Thanks

    Hi Stan,
according to Apple all Macs released prior to 2007 are not eligible to install Windows 7 with BootCamp.
However, there are some reports of success doing this so the mileage may vary.
If you wanna try use the 32-bit version of Windows 7 since your MacBook only supports 32-bit operating systems.
Plus have/make a backup of your OSX before trying, just in case.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • How do I install windows 7 on a macbook pro mid 2009 using bootcamp and no optical drive?

How do I install windows 7 on a macbook pro mid 2009 using bootcamp and no optical drive?
My optical drive is non-functional and I want to dual boot with win7. The only problem is my macbook does not boot from USB at all, even when I hold th ALT key down when it is starting up.
-I have a flashdrive with win7 on it.
-I mounted the ISO of win7 with toast for bootcamp to do its thing.

    Good luck.
Consider this a bump so that hopefully someone with better news spots your thread.

How did you install Windows? Did you use Bootcamp Assistant or did you use a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox.
If you used Bootcamp Assistant, did you download and install the Windows Support software (drivers) in accordance with the Bootcamp instructions?

  • I Installed windows 7 on my macbook pro 13 inch Late 2011 with bootcamp, i have no wireless icon or bootcamp icon, i checked my flash drive and it is blank!! what do i do?

i Installed windows 7 on my macbook pro 13 inch Late 2011 with bootcamp, i have no wireless icon or bootcamp icon, i checked my flash drive and it is blank!! what do i do?

Download and intall the Windows Support software. You can start Bootcamp Assistant again and only select the option to download the support software. Then follow the instructions to save and install the support software.
Or, manually download the support software here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/downloads/.

  • Can I run a windows software program taht is on a CD on my macbook pro after I install bootcamp and windows xp home?

Can I run a windows software program that is on a CD on my macbook pro after I install bootcamp and windows xp home?

    genepaquin,
the last MacBook Pros that supported installing Windows XP in a Boot Camp partition are the Mid 2010 models. If your MacBook Pro is newer than that, and you don’t have a newer version of Windows to install into a Boot Camp partition on your MacBook Pro, then you might consider an alternative such as running Windows with the help of programs such as VirtualBox or Parallels Desktop rather than through Boot Camp.
