Problem installing windows 8.1 Pro into my G702PC Dominator

Hello,
so, I bought my dominator and 2 SSDs as first thing I bought a Windows 8.1 Pro as well, cause it is not possible to buy dominator already with preinstalled windows 8.1 Pro and I need to use domain and hyper-v functionality as well.
I´ve tried to do a pure Windows 8.1 Pro installation (formated C:\ deleted all partitions etc.) and it was looking ok. but afterwards I´ve found, that windows have been already activated and the version was non-pro, simple Windows 8.1 without Pro functionality so the previous version I bought the dominator with. How the heck is that possible? Does somebody perhaps know how to fix that? When I´m trying to install it, it is still not asking for new windows KEY ...so  I´m not continuing then  because it is clear, that the result will be the same again and again.
I´m wondering, that this can be problem somewhere in UEFI, because this can be the only place where can be the old key saved and again reused despite my new installation attempts. But I don´t want to lose the modern booting methods and go back to slower legacy. Is that actualy slower right? Please can somebody help me with this issue? Thank you very much.

How did you re-install the OS? Did you use the installation disk of your windows 8.1 pro?
Hello, yes, exactly. As first after launching the Windows installer from DVD I removed all partitions from SSD, then I have defined new and then I installed the system like usualy. I was bit surprised that I have nod been asked for key ... but I thought, that i can do that afterwards directly from system or something like that but then I was surprised again :/ M.

  • Problems installing windows on new retina macbook pro

Hi i am having problems installing windows on the latest retina macbook pro, I end up getting an error , cant install windows on this GPT partition style. I have tried booting into windows , and EFI, but it all ends up with the same error. Please HELP.

Did you use Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive? If you want both Windows and Mac OS X on your Mac that is what you have to do.
If you only want Windows then you can install it by itself but you have to delete all partitions on the drive and format it NTSF from inside the Windows installer or a third party Disk Management/Partitioning/Formatting program.

  • Having problems installing Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro w/Boot Camp

Having a problem installing Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit) on my Macbook Pro (mid-2010) 13". I use the Boot Camp Assistant, download the necessary drivers and burn them to a disc. I insert my legit Windows 7 install disc, and the process begins but once I get to 'Completing installation', my mac freezes and I have to restart it and delete the partition. This has happened twice. I have contacted Apple and Microsoft and neither of them said that they could help me with the problem so if someone has had a similar issue and found a solution to it, I would really appreciate the help.

    Hi S,
You may want to post in the Boot Camp forum where more of those experts hang out:  https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • HP Omni 10 5600eg: Install Windows 8.1 Pro x86

    Hi,
is it possible to install Windows 8.1 Professional (32 bit) on the Omni 10 without problems?
    Are there any how-tos available?
    Regards
    Andreas

Hi @AndreasN  , welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are looking for an instructional to install Windows 8.1 Pro x 32 on your Omni tablet.
If you are saying that you want to install a retail copy of Windows on it, I do not have an instructional for you and I have never done it on an Omni tablet. I cannot guarantee you wouldn't have any problems, but I can give you a few things you will need. Here are the drivers you will need:
HP Omni 10 5600eg Tablet Drivers
If you have Windows 8.1 DVD's you would need a computer to make an installation USB drive to get it on your tablet:
Create installation media for Windows 8.1. There are many other instructionals out there as well, if you need more info.
If I am wrong, and you just mean to do a factory reset, these instructions cover that: Recovering Software on Your HP Tablet (Windows 8)
    I hope this helps.

  • Can you install Windows 8.1 Pro using Parallels on a new MacBook Pro without retina display?

I am starting a graduate school program and I would like to purchase a MacBook Pro. The options for the non-retina display fit my needs best, but it sounds like the resolution requirements for Windows 8.1 Pro do not match the MacBook Pro without retina. I need Windows to run a statistics program (SAS) and ArcGIS for mapping. Any thoughts or experience installing Windows 8.1 Pro on MBP without retina?

The native res on my 13-inch non-Retina is 1280x800. You might check with Parallels support or their forums to see if this is a problem.
If you go with the non-Retina 13-inch, I'd recommend getting 8GB RAM (standard is 4GB) because Win emulators need a fair bit of memory.

  • Install Windows 8.1 Pro on Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591

Hi forum, I recently bought the Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591 and I noticed that it only comes with the Core Edition of Windows 8.1. As I need some of the features of the Windows 8.1 Pro Edition (joining domains, remote display etc.) I would like to upgrade the System to Windows 8.1 Pro. I still have an unused Pro retail key (no OEM, no Upgrade Pack) here so at the moment I'm downloading the ISO for Windows 8.1 Pro. But prior to installation I would like to make sure that everything works out fine and I don't run intro problems. First of all: is there anything I need to save from the old OS (except from the recovery partition- I already saved that to a USB drive using the recovery program provided by Acer)? Do I have to know my Product Key (using for example a key viewer software) just in case? Do I have to disable secure boot in BIOS? Second: can I just install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website? Drivers should still work, right? Third: if I ever want to switch back to Windows 8.1 Core (the OEM edition) do I just use the USB pen drive created with the acer recovery tool? Will my retail Windows 8.1 Pro Key be usable again if I switch back to the original OS? Sorry for asking that many questions but I just have to make sure that it runs trough right in the first place because I need the Laptop to function. What would be your standard procedure to this kind of "problem"? Thanks in advance and with regards,The_DJ  Edit:I might have forgotten to mention that I want to do a clean reinstall without all the bloatware from Acer. That's why I'm using the Windows 8.1 Pro "Vanilla" ISO and if I ever want to switch back to core use the Windows 8.1 Core "Vanilla" ISO. Is that possible or would I have to use the recovery partition saved to my USB drive?

Changing the Operating System may cause driver conflicts. The compatible drivers for Windows 8.1 will not be available in the website for this laptop. Hence, some of the features on the laptop might not work after changing the OS.  1: Since you have already created the USB recovery media from the laptop, you do not have to copy anything else other than this.  Make sure you you backup all files before installing the OS, as it will remove all data from the laptop. I see that, you have the unused Pro retail key for the OS, hence, you do not have to have the OEM product key. You need to use the product key for Windows 8.1 Pro to activate it, not the Acer OEM product key.  In the BIOS, select BOOT tab.  Select BOOT MODE as Legacy Mode instead of UEFI.Disable Secure Boot. Under Boot Priority Order, you need to select 1 as CD/DVD (if you are using disc), or USB FDD or USB HDD (if you are using USB drive) to install Windows 8.1 Pro.  Then press the F10 key and select "Yes" to save the changes in BIOS.  ->You an install Windows 8.1 Pro using my ISO and installing the drivers from the Acer support website. As said before, there may driver conflicts.  -> If you want to switch back to Windows 8.1, you may use the USB reovery drive (which created you have created from the recovery partition). When you do this, the Windows 8.1 Pro and it's product key will be removed from the laptop and the factory shipped OS, drivers, apps (and the OEM product key) will be installed automatically. You do not have to use the Windows 8.1 Pro key with Acer OEM USB reovery media.  -> You need to do a clean install using the USB recovery drive to install factory shipped Windows on the laptop.

  • Install windows 8.1 pro

I cannot install Windows 8.1 PRO: I boot with the authentic Microsoft Windows 8.1 PRO DVD, the operating system installs without asking the activation code and when system reboots I check that Windows version is Windows 8.1.
If I try to update windows 8.1 to the PRO version, the result is the same.

If you have Windows 8.1 installed in your system and have purchased to Windows 8.1 Pro Pack and have the pro key you would use the the Add Features.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/feature-packs
The Pro is already in 8.1 but you need the key to activate it.

  • Problems installing windows 8 on a mac

    Hi to all,
I am having problems installing windows 8 on my late 2010 mac book pro. I have created the boot camp partition on the hard drive and have begun the windows 8 install. I have reached the point of where you need to restart the mac and have tried to restart only to find that I can't, so I have pressed the power off button to switch off. Then I press power on and have come to the black screen with the writing no bootable device detected, insert a disc then press any key. I have tried this but nothing happens, I have tried the mac osx disc, and still nothing happens. How do I reboot my mac, anyone????.
    Cheers

    Thanks bob,
I have read elsewhere on the Internet that windows 8 is supported on bootcamp and that it works.
Sometimes yes, often no, but it is unsupported officially so you'll have to live with it.

  • Installing windows on MacBook Pro

I am looking into installing Windows on my Pro because I need Visual Studio for programming and just need some questions answered.
    1. Is there a Mac native alternative to Visual Studio? I am using it for a Visual basic class I am taking and we are creating windows applications.
    2. Can I buy an external hard drive to run Windows OS from? I opted for the ~256gb SSD MacBook Pro and am not wanting to waste storage space on Windows OS, especially since I do not foresee using it after this class.
    3. If I cannot run Windows from an external hard drive:  How easy is Windows installation, as well as how easy is it to remove Windows OS when I am finished using Visual Studio? Are there risks to my MacBook accompanied with Windows installation?

    1, No
2, No, Microsoft doesn't allow that
    3, Read http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1583/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.7.pdf

  • Problems installing Windows XP on at K7N2G-ILSR

    Hi,
I am having problems installing Windows XP on at K7N2G-ILSR.
    Config.
    K7N2G-ILSR
With 2 120 GB Western Digital WD1200JB drives
    Liteon CDRW and Toshiba DVD
    Memory ME-512MB-PC2700 DIM/DDR333/512MB/PC2700
Bios settings are all set to default. And at 4/2003 version
The WD drives are plugged into IDE1 with one as Master and the other Slave. The CD & DVD on the IDE2 with the CDRW as master and the DVD as Slave.
Boot to Dos the Drives are seen with no problem
Try doing a clean install and the System always hangs after initial driver load and Hangs when Blue Screen states "Setup is installing Windows"
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

Have you tried changing the APIC function in BIOS. Either disable it or set it to MPS 1.1 see if that helps.
Also make sure your FSB is 100MHz and make sure your jumpers on the mobo are correctly set up. There are a lot of installation issues relating to FSB and win XP.
And finally make sure your memory is fully compatible with nForce boards. The default answer to everyone's nForce platform problems.

    Hi,
is it possible to install or upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro on an Yoga 11s?
actually, I´m using the preinstalled Windows and i cannot upgrade to Win8.1Pro, even if i enter an valid LicenseKey...
I´ve seen an BIOS-Entry wich is like WindowsVersion = STD
    Any Ideas?
    thx

It is possible to install Windows 8.1 Pro, though I went from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro and then updated to 8.1 (still Pro).
Have you tried doing it from Control Panel > System and Security > System, and clicking "Get more features with a new edition of Windows"?
If that doesn't allow it you could do a clean install.
