  • Nf750-g55 problem installing windows7 home premium 64bit

so i am attempting to build a htpc for a friend. got all the parts in the mail and started assembling the thing. installed the the m/b, cpu, hard drive, DVD drive, and power supply into the case and hooked up a old VGA CRT monitor and PS/2 keyboard and mouse. attempted to load the OS (specifically Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM)(purchased from newegg) which is where my problems started.  pardon the length here but i will try to be as detailed as possible to describe the issues.
initial boot, everything powers up goes through the MB splash screen and it asks for bootable media.
i put the install disk in the DVD and reboot, it comes up and boots from the DVD and brings up the windows install desktop. copies files, expands files, installs features and updates then auto shuts down to reboot.
on reboot it brings up the desktop and starts flashing the 3 little dots next to the words completing installation. it does this for approximately 2 Min's then the computer crashes and app 20 seconds later the monitor led turns from green to amber for loss of video signal.
computer reboots with MB splash screen then brings up the windows shut down unexpectedly screen "what do you want to do?"
if i start windows normally it brings up the windows splash screen with the 4 fireflies that turn into the windows icon, blinks once then black screens. few secs later the monitor led goes amber and the system reboots.
if i start in safe mode it will go Through the windows splash screen to the desktop and gives me the message "cannot finish installation in safe mode please reboot"
as of this time i have swapped the memory out for the smaller module listed in my Sig. i started with a 4GB module of gskill ripjaw but have read that windows7 sometimes doesn't like more then 2 GB installed so used a spare i had laying around. i also tried another harddrive, i have run memtest86 as well as a harddrive diagnostic on the installed drive. i have swapped the drive sata cables around a bit. currently have hd in sata1 and DVD in sata4.
i reflashed the bios from v1.3 to v1.5 with no change in the symptoms.
i also unplugged everything from the front panel of the case except for the power/reset switches and power/hdd LEDs. no overclocking. insured the overclock dips on the MB were set in the off position.
i also have tried to install both 32 and 64 bit versions of 7 ultimate. both fail in the exact same way. however a copy of server2008 32bit installed just fine.
i made a tech support ticket with msi and hit the highlights in my post there, the response was that this type of concern is typically caused by memory issues but since i had both swapped in another memory module and run memtest that it was likely a MB issue and i should contact my reseller for an exchange.
before making an rma request i wanted to touch base here and see if anyone might have a solution that wont require me waiting another week or so to get this thing up and running. it almost sounds like i may have a driver type issue that is causing things to wig out on me, since it boots OK in safe mode but not in normal mode. but i really dont have any idea on how to test that theory.
in advance thank you for any suggestions

well i tried out a diferent dvd and cable today and no go on a resolution that way.  and yes the ram module is in the dimm1 slot
as a hail mary i stuck my HD into my other computer and installed the os that way and then ran the msi driver disk as well before parking the HD back in the other case. amazingly the thing booted up just fine and loaded a bunch of drivers. everything seemed ok until i rebooted and got a bsod during loading into windows. at least now i have a direction to go with. the minidump info listed the nvlddmkm.sys driver as the fault. from a quick websearch this seems to be a issue with the nvidia driver sets. i am currently attempting to locate a stable driver set version. will post back with either success or failure results

  • Problems installing Windows XP SP2 on a 2008 Mac Pro

I have been trying to install Windows XP with Boot camp on my new Mac Pro. I have created a partition and have formated it NTFS with the XP disk. Once XP gets to the point where it says how long installation will take it blue screens and says to check new devices. I have tried it twice now and no luck. I am wondering if maybe there is a hardware incompattiblity with the new Mac Pros. I have searched the forums and can't seem to find anyone with the same problem.

    Welcome to the Apple forums.
I have a late model 2007 Santa Rosa MBP (17") running Vista Ultimate, 64-bit. I don't think much has changed in the 2008 model.
It's a remote possibility that there are some hardware issues, and there are not many new machines out there yet.
As noted, unplug all extraneous hardware, external drives, even your internet connection if you are using an RJ-45 and see what happens.
You don't say which flavor Winders you are trying to install.
Also you might check into the BootCamp forum where you might find a larger group of users running Winders than here, which is primarily pure Leopard.
Here's the address to the BootCamp forum. For some reason only the beta BC forum is listed, but here is the real address:
    Good Luck.

    Yep, I agree.
But: what are you trying to set up? Are you trying some RAID with these drives? If so, it is preferable to use two disks that are the same size (you have that) but also the same make and model.
I'm just trying to install windows xp sp2. I don't use any raid settings.

have you tried to install drivers on safe mode or manually?
after you locate the .inf file for the driver that you want to install, manually install the new driver. to do this, follow these steps:
    - click start, right-click computer, and then click properties.in the tasks pane, click device manager.
    - if you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click continue.
    - in device manager, locate the device for which you want to install the driver.
note to display hidden devices, click show hidden devices on the view menu.
    - right-click the device, and then click update driver software.
    - click browse my computer for driver software, click let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, and then click have disk.
    - in the install from disk dialog box, click browse, locate an .inf file for the device driver that you want to install, and then click open.
    - follow the steps in the update driver software devicename dialog box to update the driver

  • Setup.exe from Boot Camp won't work with Windows Xp Home SP2

    Hi,
I just bought the great MacBook Pro. So I work over years in Windows it's absolutliy necessary to migrate my old System to MacBook. I succeeded in cloning my old installation completly to the MacBook and Windows is activated. when I start windows, of course no MacBook drivers are installed, so I have only a minimum of functionality. Now I want to start the BootCamp to install the drivers. But if I start "Setup.exe" it's ending immediately with: There were errors... before Boot camp could be initialized.
I downloaded the newest BootCamp (3.1) and start it, the program crashes!
I can't get it working!!! What have I to do - please help me!
I use Windows XP Home SP2.
    Thanks!

If you didn't try installing Boot Camp from your OS X disc, try that first.
From what you wrote it sounds like you somehow cloned your old install of windows over to a fresh partition. Depending on how you did this, the problem might lie here.
First, what version of OSX are you running?
If your MacBook Pro is new, it should come with Snow Leopard, which wouldn't explain the problem.
How exactly did you clone windows over?
Depending on how you cloned windows, your easiest solution might be to back up any files and applications you need from windows, remove the current Windows partition, and create a new partition and installation of Windows through Boot Camp on OSX. Normally Boot Camp should install its drivers after a successful installation of Windows.

    Sanjeev:
Maybe you can help. I haven't been able to resolve this one "small" problem which is preventing me from rolling out iWS6.0 SP2. I created a new instance of the server using "Add Server" so that I have 2 Web sites (e.g. test1.domain.com and test2.domain.com), but the 2nd server instance is pointing to the same HTML location as the first (i.e. http://test2.domain.com takes you to the same location as http://test1.domain.com). What do I need to change and where to fix this? Need a VERY quick answer to this to implement a production Web server. I've tried the suggestions made so far (see: http://softwareforum.sun.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=181&RPAGEID=135&HOID=50B500000008000000966A0000&UCATEGORY_0=_23_%24_6_&UCATEGORY_S=0&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_0=server+instances&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_S=0) but nothing has resolved this problem. If you have any ideas at all, I'd appreciate if you could let me know :)

  • Problem installing QT

Whenever I try to install Quicktime 7.0.4.8, it always gets to the point in the installation where it is "updating environment strings", then goes fubar and stops working. Sometimes my OS (XP) will stop working for a few moments, but every time, the installer will simply stop here. Not freeze, just stop. The installer stops doing stuff, and just idles. It's very annoying, as I'd like to check the H.264 codec out, and be able to watch my precious Red vs Blue on something other than WMP (which *****)
    My specs are:
    Windows XP (home)(SP2)
    AMD Sempron 3200+
    512 RAM

  • Problem installing Designer

    Hello,
I'm having a big problem to install Designer because when I double click the setup button nothing happens... Please let me know what to do because I really like and use the software a lot but my CD is broken so I have to reinstall it from the HD after a crash I had in my HD yesterday. OS: Windows XP Home SP2.
Thank you very much indeed for any help...

    Andre,
Are you able to run other programs sucessfully? The only thing I can think of is to open up a Command Prompt window, cd to the appropriate director and run setup.exe from there. You may see some other console error messages.

  • I am trying to install XP Home Edition over Windows 7

Hello,  I have been all over trying to resolve the problem detailed below and hope you can help me.
    I have a HP Pavilion Elite -  HPE 180T - OS Win 7 64 bit.
    System Info: 9 GB Physical memory - 5 memory Modules - Video Card1.8GB  NVIDIA GeForct GTX 260 (2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters)- Intel(R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 950 @3.07GHz - 8GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM (4 DIMMs) - 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA 3Gb/s hard drive.
Problem: I do not want Windows 7 and am trying to install XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 - Full Version/CD ROM.  I put the disc in and the install option is greyed out.  What do I need to do to prep my system to accept the installation?  I have my system backed up.  If I erased my hard drive would that work?  Is there a way to install over the Win 7 or have both OS's installed? I've seen advise to adjust the BIOS but can not figure out how to bring the screen up on start up.  I looked in the HP manual and can not find the information.
    Any direction is most appreciated.

    Hi,
Windows XP is an unsupported OS and installing XP may void your warranty.
If you still want to use XP, I would make sure you create HP Recovery Discs before you start anything.  Wiping the hard drive should allow you to install XP.  I'm not sure what options you have on the XP installation disc but I would look for an Advanced option and try a Dual Boot or Dual Install if you want to run both operating systems.  For help, do a search for "dual boot windows 7 and XP" or something similar and browse the results.

  • Cannot connect via cable on Windows XP home SP2

    Good Afternoon,
Maybe you can assist me here.
I cannot connect via cable my N91 (4 gb hdd) to Windows XP Home SP2. I can however connect via cable to my work computer which has the OS Windows XP Pro sp2.
In both cases both OS's are up to date, I have updated the phone OS to v2.10.013 RM-43. I am using the most up to date drivers that is available on nokia.com as well as the current ed of PC Suite (6.82.22.0)
The following is the steps I followed in both cases starting with XP Pro
    1. Installed Drivers
    2. Installed PC Suite
    3. When prompted by PC Suite connected Phone via cable to Computer, further install steps were required. No reboot required. PC Suite then picked up phone
    XP Home
Followed steps 1 + 2 in the same order
    3. Connected N91 to XP Home computer, after driver install activity rebooted computer as requested. Disconnected N91 On reboot to desktop, in PC Suite I clicked on Get connected. Select Cable connection when prompted attached cable to computer and then to phone, on the phone select PC Suite. .
At this point I get the hour glass and nothing happens, Next is ghosted. It has been like this for 20 mins.
I have uninstalled both the drivers and the software. For some reason the updater can connect to the phone.

Having a problem installing Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit) on my Macbook Pro (mid-2010) 13". I use the Boot Camp Assistant, download the necessary drivers and burn them to a disc. I insert my legit Windows 7 install disc, and the process begins but once I get to 'Completing installation', my mac freezes and I have to restart it and delete the partition.
