Problem: iPhone touchtones cannot activate a remote control

Question

My work involves calling special systems that are controlled using telephone tones. Once the number answers, I have to enter a series of numbers from a dial pad to log in. I purchased an iPhone 4 three days ago and did not have occasion to call one of these numbers until today. The tones from the iPhone did not work -- tried dialing in repeatedly. I then called the number from a landline and I could communicate. A colleague told me he had this same problem  within certain Verizon cell sites, and it took vzw techs a long while to identify the problem fix the faulty cell site, but they eventually did. I am experiencing this problem in the 805 coverage area, specifically in Santa Paula, CA.
One other clue pointing to a fault at a cell site as the cause of this. I judst called the site using the landline and successfully logged in using the iPhone tones coming out of the iPhone speaker, so I know the phone is generating proper tones. The variable pointing to where the problem is the path (cell site) by which the tones are getting to the equipment I am trying to control.

It took weeks to get to the right vzw engineer who figured it out and fixed it..
All other touch tone functions worked fine like banks and voicemail etc.
Call vzw support.. It isn't the phone,..

All other touch tone functions worked fine like banks and voicemail etc. The fact the tones work on other services, This tells me it is the system you are calling into for work. If you could not use the tones for anything from one particular location, then I would say it is the cell site.
