Problem: iPod nano 4th gen & video podcast

Hi ladies and gents!
Just bought a brand new ipod 4th gen. mp3 playback works perfectly, but i experience the following problem when trying to watch a video podcast (the file is ok, it works under itunes on my macbook):
my ipod (nano) plays the first seconds of the podcast, but after some seconds the video gets stuck and the ipod doesn't react anymore. i tried several times to play different video podcast. they all get stuck after a few seconds (randomly something between 5 and 30 seconds)
Has anybody had the same problem
and has found a solution?
Otherwise i'll go back to the shop to change the ipod for another one :S

After leaving the iPod to charge for at least 30 minutes, have you tried resetting it?

I have a problem with the headset of my ipod nano 4th gen. the right side don't have a sound. It comes in and out.  what do I need to do.. I am using the original headset eversince. I tool it to a Apple Mac Cennter and Taked with a Service Center Rep. And he told me that they can't do anything because they don't repair the ipod they didn;t even look at it. I was told instead to buy a new one. I was very disappointed.. This is already my 5th ipod though i am planning to buy a new one.. I still want it fixed so I can give it to my little sister

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

    Thanks.

Please press the middle button AND the Play/Pause button at the same time. I had that problem, too.

  • Using a Windows formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with Bootcamp on a Mac(Win XP

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use a previously formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with a Mac that has XP Bootcamped on to it. If the Nano is placed in manually manage music with the original computer it was formatted with, will it be able to accept music, movies, podcasts, etc from the windows on the Mac or will they still be incompatible?

Well, I have 4 internal drive bays filled already, is there room somewhere for 5th one in the box? I wasn't aware of it if there is?? My mac is MacPro3,1, early 2008.
That macsales.com link is interesting but I'm not in the US (I'm in Croatia), and all those brands are supidly expensive here, that $80 esata docking station is almost $200 here... bahh. For that price I may as well buy a whole new 3TB external disk, I want to dock the old one to save money.
I've browsed around and I've found Icy Box docks, which have much more reasonable prices:
    BOX IB-110StUS2-B
    ICY BOX IB-111StUS2-Wh
    ICY BOX IB-115StUS2HC
They all claim to have OSX support... anyone have any experience with them?

  • Ipod Nano 4th Gen not recognised in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Itunes and screen blank

    Hello,
I have a quite old (3-4 years old) iPod Nano 4th Gen.
The screen is blank, which means it needs charging. When I plug it into my laptop/computer then it doesn't show up which im assuming is because it needs charging.
When I plug it into my plug charger (plugged into a wall) nothing happens.
I think this is because the cables (I have 3- 2 computer USB cables and one plug charger cable) being too lose and not connecting to the iPhone fully.
I have looked at all the articles, I have done the R's, I have tried to restore it, I have pressed the clickwheel and centre button together and I have toggled the hold switch.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated! (And please save the "take it to apple support" etc... comments for if you can't think of anything else- not being rude but I know this)
    Thanks

Hey, I hear ya and can sympathize. I have the same
issue. The difference is that my computer can "see"
    my ipod but it refuses to show up in itunes itself;
therefore, I can't put anything on the ipod (from the
computer) and vice-versa. Apple support is clueless.
This is very frustrating to say the least. Itunes
keeps telling me that my ipod is synced to a
"different" computer, which isn't true. It's the
same computer. The difference is that when I first
got the 'pod and used it with this computer (and
everything worked fine), I was running XP. I
installed Vista and after that, all the problems
started. If I ever get this resolved, believe me,
    I'll post something here.
I'm guessing that somehow, itunes "sees" what
computer it's hooked to by "looking" at something in
the OS. Change the OS and it "thinks" it's seeing a
    "different" computer.
    Try reformatting it.

  • Itunes won't recognize my ipod nano 4th gen (or any other ipod) as a device

i've had my ipod nano 4th gen for as long as 4th gen's have been around.  never had a problem with it or itunes.  until now.  all of a sudden, when i plug my ipod in to sync the new music purchased, itunes doesn't even recognize my ipod.  "devices" never even comes up.  "sync ipod" under file isn't highlighted.  my ipod only shows as charging.  since this problem occurred, i've tried my husband's ipod and it isn't recognized.  i've used numerous cords in both USB ports.  i've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  nothing is working!  any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  • Dropped Ipod nano 4th gen

ok last night I dropped my Ipod nano 4th gen without a case on my tile floor. It was about a 3-4 feet drop.
So today I was running and than after a couple mins of running with the song still playing my ipod buttons froze, nothing worked the screen remained black but the music still played. than after a few seconds trying to make the screen show back up my whole volume limit raised up maxed with a weird twisted sound to it. also, every now and than my songs would pause than play again without me doing anything to it.
I also was running in cold weather, is that the case?
Could of me dropping my ipod caused this to happen?
or can dropping my ipod cause any problems at all?
    thanks

  • My ipod nano 4th gen was submerged in water.

My ipod nano 4th gen was submerged in water. After it dried inside, i tried to turn it on but doesnt work, showing the blank screen. I plugged it in, held the menu button and it made 2 beeps then stopped.I could still connect it to the computer and access its content . What is the problem with it? And would apple to be able to repair it at what price approx?
    Thx in advance

The damage is not covered by the Apple warranty.  An out-of-warranty Nano repair is about $80 (plus tax).  Before you send it in for repair, be sure that you have the music backed-up.

  • FM transmiter that CHARGES iPod nano 4th gen

Hello.Well after the clickwheel crapped out on my girlfriends ipod nano 4gb 1st gen decided to get her a ipod nano 16gb 4th gen (pink..shes a girl:) for her birthday. So that's all decided. Now I start researching what fm transmitter to get and see a problem that many folks have...the fm transmitter DOES NOT charge the ipod. I come to you guys for suggestions.I did look at some like griffins' itrip line and while it said it is compatible i have seen reviews that said it does kick out an fm signal and does work in that respect BUT does not charge the unit which would suck. Please tell me what models you guys are using and if they are working for you.Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. I sent an email to griffin and in the reply they stated that all the products that say they work with ipod nano 4th gen....will work with that version. I just get a feeling like I am going to be returning it to the store after buying it.I have no worries about it actually transmitting an fm signal but charging..thats another story. Will update when I find out.

  • IPod nano 4th gen stuck in dfu mode.

I have a problem with my son's iPod Nano 4th Gen.
When I try to restore the iPod in iTunes it gives the error 1601 and says it doesn't recognise the iPod.
When connected to my laptop without iTunes it says 'usb DFU device'.
I have tried every combination of buttons, before anyone tells me to 'just hold in menu and select'.
I can't get the iPod out of DFU mode to restore. Any help is much appreciated.

  • IPOD Nano 4th Gen still plays but has black screen after being washed

A  few months ago my mother washed my iPOD Nano 4th Gen by accident - we had it in a bag of rice for a long time. After a while it refused to start up so we put in a drawer and hoped it would "magically" fix itself.
Few months later... it works (plays music, can select menus..)!
But the screen is black, lol.
I have tried restoring it in iTunes, also resetting the Nano repeatedly with the buttons and fiddling with the hold button, but none of it works... Could the backlight be shot after being damaged in the wash? Is it possible for Apple to restore it even though my warrenty is now gone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo even after restore

okay, i have an ipod nano 4th gen. it gets stuck on the boot logo, (apple logo) every time it tries to restart. i have rebooted, gone into the diagnostics, put it into disk mode, and even restored from there. the computer doesnt recognize the ipod unless in disk mode and no matter how many times i restore or reboot, it does the same thing every time. stuck. please help

Since you have the "exact" same problem, why don't you do any of the following:
If you have AppleCare and/or still under warranty, give them a call.  If not, take your iPod to your local Apple Store or AASP.  Let them properly diagnose the problem and provide you w/a repair estimate.
U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)
Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.   If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • Lifespan of Ipod Nano 4th gen ?

    Hi.
I have two ipod nano, 4th gen, about 18 months now. both have experienced a series of minor problems, requiring resets etc along the now.
Now one is completely dead, will not start. I brought it to the Apple Store Expert who says it is dead, not repairable.
    So my question is...
How long are they expected to last, under normal usage conditions ?
Obviously excessive use, water exposure etc doesn't count.
    Cheers,
    Colin.

    Hello colinregan,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
It really depends on what you define as normal usage condition. There really isn't an exact number, but instead a range of values that could answer this question. Personally, my iPods have lasted anywhere from 2 - 5 years, sometimes more.
Maybe check out this article for more information on the subject.
