Problem *** iPod not working

Lately, I had been having problems with only a select number (maybe five) of my CDs on my iPod not playing. I would select the CD and the first song to play, but my iPod would either freeze or show that the song was playing but no actual music was playing.
I figured that maybe a few music files were corrupt, so when I plugged my iPod to the computer to eliminate potentially corrupt files, it slowed iTunes on the G5 down significantly. It took at least 10 minutes to even scroll down my album list on my iPod since the (possibly) corrupt(?) files were preventing certain other files from being read. I couldn't even put new music on my iPod, which was odd since my iPod isn't even half way to its capacity.
Frustrated, I decided to wipe my iPod of all its files (corrupt or not, 3000+ songs) and reset it, hoping to start from scratch. When I did this, I got an icon on my iPod saying that it was "OK to Disconnect" from the computer and also told me somehow that my iPod was in "disk mode" when really, I have never used it as a hard drive (I have only used it for storing music).
Now, whenever I try to use my iPod, I get either the apple symbol or some odd symbol comprised of a file folder and an exclamation point. It won't even take me to the main menu.
Could anyone please help??? My iPod model was released in the summer of '03 and have only had it for two years. It is a 15GB capacity.
Thank you, but I am quite devastated. Sometimes, I feel like my iPod is my only friend.

I too am having this problem.
This morning my 20gb Ipod froze on me, but after pressing Play and Menu a few times it started to work. Now tonight it has frozen and there is no way that the playlist I was trying to play is even going to start. It's been sitting, saying it's going to play... but the song is not even moving nor is there any volume. I can't go to the Menu, change songs or even turn the Ipod off! This Ipod is driving me insane... I hope someone can help me out!

  • Ipod not working properly after ios6 update

I recently updated my ipod touch with the ios6 update, and now most of my apps wont open, and others shut down after a few seconds including the app store and itunes! is there any way of reversing the update? or fixing it without having to go to the apple store?

If the update does not work for you then do as I explained in my previous post and roll back to the previous driver. That philosophy can be applied to all updates.
If there is no pressing or emergent reason to update and your PC or notebook is running just great... don't update. (that is especially true when it comes to a BIOS update)
For your issue #2, the problem could be your wireless connection (hotspot, router or modem) that causes the dropped connection.

  • Ipod not working correctly

I have not used my Ipod mini in a very long time today I was trying to connect it to the computer to erase/add new songs or "sync" it....I connected it and the do not disconnect logo appears and the computer recognizes new hardware, but when I go into Itunes the icon does not show up. I downloaded the newest version and did all updates and its still not working. I tried to put the ipod into disk mode by following the instructions but it will not go into disc mode either. I went to windows media player and tried syncing it through there and it said it did successfully but then none of the songs showed up on the ipod its still showing the same old songs that were on there even though on media player it said i deleted and added the new ones. I then went to my computer to and opened the ipod file and it is showing all the changes made....old songs gone new songs added but they are still not showing up on the actual ipod.....any ideas what is going on or how to fix this??
    Thanks!

Hmmmm... I'm not really sure what you're problem is. You could definitely try calling Apple's Tech Support Number (1-800-MY-APPLE) or visiting your local Apple Retail Store.

  • Ipod not working, tried all suggestions i could find none worked

I have a 20 gb ipod that my mom got from sam's club, there is an hp thing on the back so guess that means it's and hp ipod and not a straight apple ipod which my brother says is bad, it came with a griffen itrip and a griffen powerpod car charger, that's all the background about it that i know.
so i was listening to it today and went to change the song and it didn't play so i figured i must have paused it accidentally, so i hit the play button again, and it changed songs..so then i decided to turn it of and turn it back on again, and it didn't turn back on, it started making wierd clicking noises, so i plugged it into a charger to see if that would fix it and that didn't work either, then i plugged it into my computer and it didn't show up on my computer or in itunes, so i went to this website and started looking around, i did the whole hold down select and menu for 6 second thing and the apple sign showed up, but nothing else happened so i tried to restore it, but the updater wo't regonize it, so then i downloaded the new updater, and it says that it won't mount, so then i did all the stuff i could understand on the "what to do it your ipod won't mount" page i tried forcing it into disk mode like it said to but i wouldn't go, then it just kinda went into disk mode by itself, but the updater still didn't recognize it, so then i tried downloading the new itunes and all that stuff and tried removing the itunes software from my computer, and i guess i did b/c i can't find it now... and now my ipod stopped making the noise, but it's random displaying either the apple symbol, the DO NOT DISCONNECT symbol and that folder with the exclamation point, i tried all the stuff under " folder with an exclamation point" page as well nothing has worked...
    what do i do?

    Hi ...
The problem is the iPod, not your Mac.
Place the iPod in recovery mode > If you can't update or restore your iOS device
If that won't work, contact Apple >  iPod touch - Apple Support

  • RE: ipod not working ipod ready head unit

I've had the same problems, and weirder ones, with my tC and my 5G iPod. My suggestion is to download and reload the original iPod firmware that came with the iPod. I'm not sure where you can get it online, but I made a backup of my iPod firmware that I've used while experimenting with using non-supported software, like iPod Linux. I'm going to try that later today and I'll see if that helps.
ever since i upgraded my ipod and my itunes the ipod has been acting >>weird when i connect it to my Car stereo. I have the upgraded ipod ready >>headunit for the Scion TC and when i got to browse song titles in an artist >>folder some times it won't show me the song titles but instead shows me >>the artist list again. Also if you dont have your ipod on repeat you have to >>disconnect the ipod and play any file then reconnect it to get the ipod to >>work. Please fix this Apple. Everything is so screwed now. I can't even get >>my new office eps on my ipod.

    Try this.
How to reset the iPod if it appears frozen or doesn't respond.
It may take quite a few attempts and is best done connected to power.

  • Ipod not working with my comupter

I have been having problems with my Ipod mounting to my computer(it is an HP). nothing worked so i took it into were i bought it and they got it to work with their computer fine. my ipod updater and itune are both updated to the most recent version and i know the cord is not faulty. can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

It is possible that your power supply cannot supply enough power if you have some other usb devices like a printer connected all the time. Also, is the iPod not being recognized in iTunes or "My Computer"?

  • After upgrade to 4.3.3 my iphone 3gs ipod not working

Please.can someone suggest possible fixes for this problem. I have just upgraded the software on my iphone 3gs to version 4.3.3
and discovered the ipod function not working all the content is still listed but when I try to play a song it just throws me back to the main menu
after about 3 seconds. What can I do? Have searched this forum and searched online but have not come across a user with the same problem.
    Any advice gratefully received.

After upgrading to the latest iTunes version (9.2.0.61), iTunes does not recognize my iPhone.
    I have tried:
    switching cables,
    switching USB ports,
    restarting computer,
    repairing iTunes,
uninstalling and downloading 64-bit version then installing,
uninstalling and downloading Windows 7 version then it would not install,
    verified that AMDS had started,
    restarted AMDS.
I have tried all of these things at various times and in various orders. I did get iTunes to see my phone once, but because I have been working on this a few hours, I don't remember the sequence I used. I do know that when I closed and restarted iTunes it no longer recognized my phone again.
I connected my iPhone to a different computer that does have iTunes latest version, (9.2.0.61) and it was recognized. That computer is a HP Pavilion a6530f PC running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit version.

  • TS1369 iPod not working so I choose to "Restore to factory" default. It told me to plug in to outlet. This I did, but nothing happened. No matter what outlet I plug it into, the icon won't go away. Have I totally fired my iPod by following the directions?

I have an iPod Classic 60GB. It started to have problems and wouldn't sync.
I choose to restore it to factory settings.
The instructions and icon on the iPod say to plug it in to outlet with adapter but when I do, nothing happens.
Is there anything I can do at this point?
Would I be able to send it in to be fixed?
A 60GB iPod is too great to have not working!
    Thanks, JoanKT

By outlet do you mean a USB port on your computer?  If so does your I pod show up in iTunes?  If not you will have to follow the appropriate steps for your iPod not showing up in iTunes for your particular OS.  Are you using a Mac or a PC?

  • Accelerometer Problems - Landscape not working

    Hello,
I am running an iphone 3g with 3.0.1. My problem is that my accelerometer works perfectly fine for apps. However, when I turn the phone to try put mail, safari, sms, or any other app into landscape mode, it won't work. I've had this problem for a couple months but before it would stop working for a short amount of time, and ten start again. It has not worked for over a week now.
Anyone know what the problem is?
P.S. When I say it works perfectly fine for apps I mean that for games such as Doodle Jump, Cube Runner, and others, I can control the game perfectly.
    Thanks.

Yes, and I have done a full restore with no results.
If you haven't already, try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone.
+"If you choose to set up as a new iPhone or iPod, first back up any important backups of that device you want to retain from the backup folders listed above. iTunes only retains one sync generated backup per device, and the first sync after setting up as new will replace your previous backup. If you change your mind and want to restore to your previous state, you will have to do so from a backup that you have retained through your periodic back up routine. If you have Mac OS 10.5.5 or later and use Time Machine, Time Machine may back up your backup. Copies of a backup marked with a date and time stamp created by selecting to "Restore from the back up of" are retained by iTunes and not overwritten."+ from: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • IPods not working since iTunes 7.2 and song upgrade

Anyone else experiencing issues since upgrading to 7.2?
My 4th gen iPod has started skipping songs -- never had any issues with this one before.
My 5th gen iPod(video) has seemingly bricked. Select+Menu reset feature doesn't have any impact. The screen flickers and then freezes.
Oddly enough, iTunes 7.2 works just fine from what I can tell. The new "Plus" songs play just fine on the computer.

I'm having the exact same problem after the iTunes 7.2 upgrade. Some songs won't copy and I get the 'cannot be copied/file format not supported' message - though all of the formats are the same. I tired restoring my iPod twice but no dice. The songs copied fine before the upgrade.
For me, it seems to be just songs that I purchased from iTunes, burned to an audio CD and then reimported as MP3s. (I've done this a few times for various reasons.) When I reload the original purchased files to my computer from backup, then try to copy those to the iPod it works. Maybe that's a clue.
Hopefully an update will fix this. It's a minor annoyance, but still...

  • Customer Support Portal to report problems is not working

The Customer Support Portal at: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/support/index.cfm?event=portal&loc=en_us
    Is not working.
I called into installation help.  The person said he could not help me and I needed to report the problem through the Customer Support Portal.
When I go there I sign in.
    I select Installation Help
    I select Your Products
    A drop down box appears
    It says Select Your Product.
The problem is it doesn't show any products to select.

  • 'Report a Problem' is not working at all on my iMac. What do I do?

I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.5.8, 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, etc...
I have not been able to use the Problem Report interface for over a month.
No matter what software the problem is with, no matter how strong my internet connection is, I get a dialog saying "Submission failed: Your report could not be submitted. Please try again later." For example, here's a screencap from 1 minute ago, after Spotify crashed.
The same thing happens with Apple software as well as third-party. I have no idea what to do.
Any help will be much appreciated.

None of this is the point though. I don't care about reporting the problems, I wanna know why my computer is having errors rendering a very basic function impossible. Hard drive problem, data corruption, mystery Mac virus...my concern is that this is a symptom of something bigger.
That's good to know, but keep in mind that your original posting complained solely about "Report a problem not working." That was the issue in the title and text of your original post. Several people responded with regards to that concern that you raised, and indicated that not being able to report back to Apple was not a serious concern, we don't think Apple is using that data much and may have turned off some of the reporting paths back to the company anyway. As Pondini said, if you are really concerned about some other problem, describe it so people here might address it. You mention "Hard drive problem, data corruption, mystery Mac virus ..." but provide no details except that the report back to Apple failed, about something. A report back to Apple failing to go through is not evidence of any of those things you mentioned, it's actually seen pretty often.

  • Ipod Not Working - Battery Issue?

I have read some about the battery life of an Ipod not being that long. And you have to send it in to be replaced. Is that true? If so, how do you know when the issue is the battery and not something else.
I havea problem with my Ipod that is9 months old. It will not turn on. I tried to turn it on when it was plugged in to the AC, when it was plugged into the computer, and and when it was on battery power. Nothing. The little button to deactivate the touch pad was not on lock either.
Thoughts? I assume it's still under warranty and will likely try and return it.
    Thanks in advance!

Your iPod itself is probably screwed up, not the battery. If it was connected to power it would have turned on.

  • TS4268 I CANNOT find an answer to my problem. iMessage not working.

I have had my iphone 3gs for over 3 months and now my iMessage is not working. under settings it says waiting for activation, and I am outside of the 90 day free support window. the tech told me to go to the support pages and I could find the answer no problem. I can't. I have had this problem ever since I updated to iOs 6.01. can anyone help me get my imessage working again. I need it so I can send messages over wifi since my phone is not activated right now to use over cellular networks.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755 shows the requirements for iMessage to work.  On an iPhone you do need an SMS plan for it to work.  It likely will never activate because you do not have it activated on a cellular plan.
