Problem is mission control
If I have two or more applications open then one of the applications will cover up 2 or more spaces and I can't select them. I'm on OS X Lion 10.7.1
Is this a problem with anyone else?
You do realise that your "solution" does not fix the problem. It simply lets me see the spaces but when I go to click on one of them the windows I parted just come back and I do not go to the desired space.
Also note that just because 7.1 hasn't been "released" doesn't mean that some of us aren't on it.

Problem in mission control : placement of the desktops isn't memorized
Hi everyone!
It's my first topic here, so please, be kind if I'm not respecting the rules...
Here is my problem :
Today, I'm doing some HTML coding in textwrangler, and testing the pages with safari on a second desktop. I'm opening the pages in safari with a finder window opened in a third desktop. I'm on my macbook pro and i'm switching desktops with the 4 fingers technique. I have placed the desktops in that order :
1) Textwrangler
2) Safari
3) Finder
When i'm using the 4 fingers and go into the finder to look after a page, trying it into safari, the order is changed :
1)Textwrangler
2) Finder
3) Safari
Is anyone encountering something like that with mission control? Do you know how to fix it? I hope you'll be interested in my problem.
Thank you!
NelsonThanks a lot, I hadn't seen the options in preferencies... Let me go buying glasses!

Problem with mission control after 10.7.2 update
After I updated to 10.7.2, when I swipe into mission control then select a different app with the spacebar then swipe back out of mission control, the menu bar on the top does not switch to the new app, it stays as the previous open app. But, if I click on the new app instead of using the spacebar then the menu bar switches correctly. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have had the same issue since initial 10.7.0 install. Doesn't seem to affect function at all.. but disconcerting nonetheless. I have yet to find anything acknowleding the problem or how to fix it.

I've just installed the Safari 6.1.1 and iTunes 11.1 updates. For some reason this seems to have affected Mission control on my computer (late 2011 Macbook pro running Mountain Lion).
I can now no longer highlight and select the large desktop window in Mission Control (the one that open apps appear above). This is really annoying as it makes navigating around much more of a hassle now.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried repairing Disk permissions already. Thanks.I'm surprised that given the usual hysteria over anything new that Apple brings out Apple didn't realise that providing this upgrade solely via a downloading method may cause a few problems upon its release!!

Maverick causing problems with mission control
hi,
I have a early 2013 Mac book pro. I just upgraded to Maverick and I have been facing issues with mission control. When I swipe fingers up on touchpad to open Mission control, occasionally it lags. Basically the lagging is prevelant with swipe and pinch gestures on touchpad, the transitions are not smooth. Please help me fix it.
Thanks in advance,
KritarthI'm not sure that what I'm seeing is this same problem, but it's similar. And worse.
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch,Early 2013), and several times since I installed Mavericks both Mission Control and 4-finger swiping have stopped working completely. A restart always fixes them. They both fail at the same time--either both work completely, or both don't work at all.
I'm guessing there's a lurking Mavericks bug, somewhere.

Still Mavericks causes problems freezing Mission Control
Hello,
As the suggestions I've received in this discussion (https://discussions.apple.com/message/23642587#23642587
Try removing Soundflower since it has not been updated in a very long time. Follow these instructions from its developer's website:
http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/
There is a short video explaining how to uninstall it. If uninstalling it does not help, and you really need it, you can always reinstall it again from the developer's website.
If that does not help please start a new Discussion because there will be other things to check.)
, I've already unistalled SoundFlowers and, as I espected, doesn't make any difference: Launch Pad is still freezing when I change pages.
I report here the new discussion.
Let's see if John Galt can help me again!
Cheers,
EnricoI had no such problem, but as I said, graphic acceleration seems to be deactivated; I haven't noticed any CPU hog, so I suspect it's a juvenile bug. Strange is the fact that no-one seems to experience my issues, even also the one with the trackpad. I think I'm going to wait 10.9.1 at least, and test it on an external drive (to preserve my ML installation).

Has anyone experienced a problem where Mission control randomly changes the window?
Focus will be shifted from randomly between windows and desktops or windows will be resized
Hey first, carefully re type ur password, secondly reboot once more.

Mission Control - mail attachments
Ok, another problem with Mission Control - open an attachment from Mail in fullscreen (an Excel attachment anyway), and you get an Excel window in the Mail Space, but you can't get the menu bar for Excel. You also can't move the Excel window into another space, so there's no way to do a lot of editing tasks. This is the second major flaw I've found with the way Lion handles windows. 'Early adopter' or 'beta tester'?
Can anyone offer a solution?Bug report would be what I would do.
My wife is also experiencing issues with iTunes running in full screen and watching movies in her iTunes library. I cant quite pinpoint or replicate the the bug. But it also screws up her Safari running full screen. She is using OSX version 10.7.1 (Whatever is the most up to date as of today).
I'm guessing it has something to do with fullscreen iTunes, movies, Safari, and sleep mode (like closing the lid of laptop and later opening it). -
I'm having problems with Mission Control, a glitch where the old background picture keeps appearing under the opened windows on Desktop 1 space, but partially over the thumbnails of the space on the top of the screen. Same happens when I'm on the Dashboard space, but the background image blocking the thumbnails is the Dashboard dotted background picture. And also, there is nothing unusual with a full-screen-app space, such as Google Chrome, or Desktop 2 onwards.
I tried to find a discussion here that could help me, someone experiencing a similar bug, but I didn't find anything. Have someone experience the same sort of glitch? What is going on with Mountain Lion?
ThanksConfirmed on Yosemite too.
Do you have a discrete graphics card? -
IMac does not show open windows in Mission Control
Ever since I installed Mountain Lion on my 2008 iMac 24", I've had a problem in Mission Control where the Desktop that the OS boots into will not show a preview of any windows open in that desktop. I have a new 2012 MacBook Air that does not have this problem. I thought the 10.8.1 update might fix it but no luck. Originally, I upgraded from Snow Leopard but eventually did a clean install and manually restored documents so that all the preferences/system files would be fresh, but still no luck.
A screenshot of what I mean is attached. I have FF open in desktop 1, but it does not show at the top, whereas all other desktops show window previews.
Has anyone else had this problem and have you managed to fix it?I dont use the Trackpad, just a mouse. Moments after I typed it, the answer was suggested already:
CTRL+Mission Control button does exactly what I want.
Is it possible to reconfigure this shortcut to the Snow Leopard way? (Pushing and holding the mouse button on an app in the dock for the same results)
Thanks, -
Is there a problem running Mission Control on a 64bit OS. Specifically I have a Java app (a Coherence cache server) that I can run on 32bit Windows and I can see the process in the "discovered/local" part of the tree in Mission Control. I can then connect to the JVM, see the MBeans etc... When I move the cache server to a 64bit Windows Server 2003 box that has the 64bit version of JRockit installed I can nolonger connect Mission Control to it.
I am running a 32 bit version of Mission Control locally on the 64bit machine, is that the issue?
Nothing appears in the "discovered/local" part of the tree but I am able to create a new connection specifiying the JMX host and port. When Mission control attempts to connect I get this error:
Could not open Management Console for localhost:8001.

I downloaded the 64 bit version of Mission Control but after running the install there is no way to start MC and just a readme saying Eclipse RCP is not supported on this environment.
Thanks,
Jonathan.Hello,
I seem to remember an issue cropping up recently with 32-64 compatibility and local connect. As a workaround, try:
1) Start your 64-bit JVM with remote mgmt and autodiscovery enabled (-Xmanagement:ssl=false,authentication=false,port=7091,autodiscovery=true)
2) Use the 32-bit JRMC
This configuration will cause JRMC to communicate over a TCP socket, and the will still be autodiscovered by JRMC but as a "remote" JVM.

Problem to get Mission Control 3.0.1 running with JBoss 4.2.2GA
Hello,
I'm using JRockit R27.04 to run JBoss 4.2.2GA with the following VM parameters:
-Xmanagement:ssl=false,authenticate=false,port=7091,autodiscovery=true -Djavax.management.builder.initial=org.jboss.system.server.jmx.MBeanServerBuilderImpl -Djboss.platform.mbeanserver
It's working fine but when I try to use any feature of Mission Control (console, memleak, JRA, ...) pointing to JBoss, I get a ClassNotFoundException:

Can anyone help me?
Thank's,

Java/JEE Architect - BrasilIt was a good attempt, but I'm still getting the same exceptions.
I tried to create a new service file, and it was successful deployed:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<server>
<mbean code="bea.jrockit.management.JRockitConsole" name="bea.jrockit.management:type=JRockitConsole">
</mbean>
</server>
After it I opened JBoss JMX Console and I saw the following mbeans published:
bea.jrockit.management
type=Compilation
type=DiagnosticCommand
type=GarbageCollector
type=JRA
type=JRockitConsole
type=Log
type=MemLeak
type=Memory
type=PerfCounters
type=Profiler
type=Runtime
So, it appears that all jkrockit MBeans are published, but the problem persist.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks,

Problems with scrolling and Mission Control
I have this problem:
When scrolling down any page, the letters will blur at the top of the screen and not the bottom.
When swiping acrross pages in the launchpad, it occasionaly freezes half way between the two.
When I swipe up with four fingers to access mission control, the screen becomes very sluggish. Swiping back down (or clicking a tab) is even worse, causing slow "laggy" animations.
And this the report from EtreCheck:

When scrolling down any page, the letters will blur at the top of the screen and not the bottom.
When swiping acrross pages in the launchpad, it occasionaly freezes half way between the two.
When I swipe up with four fingers to access mission control, the screen becomes very sluggish. Swiping back down (or clicking a tab) is even worse, causing slow "laggy" animations.
And this the report from EtreCheck:

Mission Control keyboard shortcut problems
I have a problem with my keyboard shortcuts (changing space with Mission Control)
Sometimes they do not work... then I have to reset PRAM (using this guide http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379) and then it works again. Then after some time it fails again.
Anyone having the same problem?Just another quick update, the link above is not possible CSGO and other steam games do not allow you to define custom shortcuts. I found an article on the web indicating that scripting this is not possible either as the plist you modify requires killing the mission control process entirely to reload the settings, and then doesn't remember the modification you make to the plist anyway. This is a real pain, maybe I have to learn to deal with AWSD controls in FPS games if I intend to use the mac :-/

Desktop background problems: 27" iMac/Mission Control
I've just installed a 27" iMac running 10.8 with 16 GB RAM. I use 4 desktops at a time with different backgrounds in each. When changing between e.g. desktops 2 and 3, via CTRL-right-arrow, Mission Control annoyingly flashes the desktop 1 background before replacing it with the desktop 3 background.
I have replicated the problem on the other 27" iMac's I have access to, and with a variety of desktop backgrounds (e.g. only the Apple provided ones)
and with various amounts of RAM (8 GB to 16GB). It is a consistent problem on all 27" iMac's running 10.8 as far as I can see.
Mission Control handled multiple desktop backgrounds flawlessly under my previous set up (iMac 21"/10.7).
Does anyone know how to fix this behavior?I've just installed a 27" iMac running 10.8 with 16 GB RAM. I use 4 desktops at a time with different backgrounds in each.
