Problem: iTunes won't save.

So every time I open iTunes it always opens as if it was the first time. Makes me click on the License Agreement, I import my music and all seems to work fine; that is until I close and once it opens nothing is ever saved. I've re-istalled. Don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I uninstalled Norton System Works 2005, Norton Internet Security (antivirus and firewall) 2006, Yahoo anti spyware (distributed by Norton), and System Mechanic 6, and still no change.
lordy. well that would seem to rule out security software interference. (please reinstall your security software.)
okay, let's try an experiment aimed at working out if this is a systemwide business on the desktop or if it's associated with a particular XP user account on the desktop.
here's the experiment.
head into your user accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights. (there's help documentation on how to do that at the left of the control panel screen.) while you're in that control panel, switch off "fast user switching" in your logging-on preferences.
now log out of the old account and log into the new account.
launch itunes inside the new account. the setup assistant will run, but that's normal when you launch itunes for the first time inside a new account. the library screen will be blank, but that's normal too. (your music is still safely in the other user account.)
shut down itunes, and then launch it again in the new user account. do you still get the setup assistant on the second launch of itunes in the new user account?

  • Please help. iTunes Won't Save My Album Artwork

OK, here’s a basic question that will probable be easy to answer. I have iTunes 8 on a MAC 10.4.11 and it won’t save my album artwork. I have a play list of 23 songs and for some reason track 21 and 22 keep rejecting the artwork I drag and drop. I have tried adding the image as both a JPG and PNG in various sizes and resolutions.

Patience! You just posted the original 30 minutes before your follow up. Give people time to find your post. Anyway...
All you did is changed the preference so that any NEW stuff you import will look up artwork. For any albums already in your library, select all the songs from the album, right click, and pick Get Album Artwork.

  • ITunes won't save software license agreement

Every time I log into my computer account and launch iTunes, iTunes asks me to accept the software license agreement, which I do. Then iTunes notifies me that the volume is turned all the way down. If I quit and re-launch iTunes, everything is fine. But when I log out and back in, get the software license agreement again and the volume message. This issue doesn't occur on the other accounts I have set up on my computer.
I have so far deleted the following files/folders but the issue persists between log-ins:
    ~/Library/Caches/*
    ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-in/
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iTunes.*
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.*
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunesHelper.*
    MacBook Pro
2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    8GB RAM
    Mac OS X 10.7.2
    iTunes 10.5.2

    hmmmm.
okay, let's try an experiment aimed at working out if this is a problem more with the program files or the preference files.
head into your user accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights. (there's help documentation on how to do that at the left of the control panel screen.) while you're in that control panel, switch off "fast user switching" in your logging-on preferences.
now log out of the old account and log into the new account.
launch itunes. do itunes preferences changes save properly from inside the new account?
(if they don't, that points towards a program issue. if they do, that points more towards preference files.)

  • ITunes won't save changed track information

I am trying to edit and save track information (album name, # of #, etc...), including adding artwork, but no artwork ever gets added and when I click on the track to read the information, after editing it, it reverts back to the original information, except for the # of # and album artist. Those are the only 2 items that stay changed. I cant seem to change the album name, cant delete the comments and can't add artwork. My iPod Classic shows the original info, not the edited info, including no artwork.
This has never happened to me before. Any suggestions?

Ok, so I've narrowed it down to the folder containing the files has the read-only box completely shaded in (as opposed to a check mark). I can not, under any circumstances get this box to stay unshaded. I un-shade it, apply, go out, and when I come back, its shaded again. I've scoured the net looking for a fix and no one seems to have one that works. I am not sure how all my files on my computer got to this status as they were never like this before.
Has any one else had this problem and found a way around it?

  • Itunes won't save back up of iphone 4

    Hey Everyone,
I know there have been a few posts on this same topic but haven't found anything to be helpful in my problem.
Just recently I went to upgrade my 16g iphone 4 to the latest software update, the update downloaded and then itunes proceded to back up my phone. Not even halfway through the back up I received an error message stating that itunes could not back up my iphone because the back up could not be saved to the computer.
I have read numerous posts about this topic not only in this discussion forum but others as well and have also read through what apple suggests on doing with the back up in the itunes preferences and have deleted the previous back up, no luck.
I have tried locating the back up file on my pc following the directions apple has given to its location....\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Only problem is that when I go into Users and then (username) there is no appdata file.
Also, not to add to the confusion, but each time I have attempted the back up on my phone as soon as I receive the error message my anti-virus software also pops up saying it has detected and removed a trojan virus....when I look at the details of where it was detected it shows the back up file located on my computer that I can not seem to get to.
    Any suggestions?

When you insert the DVD, does the computer automatically push it back out, or do you get a little time?
If not, launch iTunes and click File > Back Up to Disc
This should give you the option to Restore from your backup

  • Itune won't save backup to my Window 7 Computer?

    Hi Everyone,
I have a window 7 laptop and I am having trouble getting even one backup to work on my computer. The itune error message I get is this:
"Itune Could not back up the Ipad because the backup could not be saved on the computer"
I tried everything in the "more information" page (even using a new admin account), but I still get the same message. Now because of this I also cannot update to 4.3.1 because it requires a backup before it would install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try this. Uninstall and then reinstall iTunes. Make sure you have a copy of the iTunes folder contents/library for backup. Other than your backup folder make sure everything else iTunes related is deleted from the computer. Go to iTunes download the latest version and reinstall. Copy over you contents and you should be good to go.

  • ITunes won't open, even after complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes/Qktime

    Hello
This morning iTunes started refusing to open. When opened it bounces twice and then closes.
Strange, because I didn;t just update. It worked fine after my last update and up until the present. I'm not sure but it could have started happening after I plugged in my iPod Touch 16gb 2.0. I did that sometime this morning.
I did a complete uninstall/reinstall of both Itunes and Quicktime, and I also uninstalled Flip to Mac as I read here it could be related. Restarted my computer many times. Now, same problem, iTunes won't start.
I live in noisy Barcelona and i'm going crazy without tunes...

Update... so i backed up files from three folders shown below:
    'User'/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/
    'User'/AppData/Local/Apple Computer/
'User'/Music/iTunes/(all files except music and app folders)
Then I uninstalled iTunes & Quicktime
    Restarted Machine
Reinstalled iTunes (which reinstalls Quicktime as well)
Opend iTunes to make sure it worked (it did), then closed it.
Copied all of the original files back over to their original locations.
    Restarted iTunes
Everything appears to be back to normal (iPhone sync works properly as well)
Hope this helps for anyone else seeking an answer!

  • Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes... getting beyond P/Oed!!!

Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera or something.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all.  I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all.  Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod.  Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window.  In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera.  In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed.  There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable.  And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!!  You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?
    Thank you.
    Evie

After three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple.  Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet.

  • ITunes won't upgrade to10.5. Error message "There is a problem with the Windows installer package. Contact the package vendor". I need help.

    iTunes won't upgrade to10.5. I'm on 10.1.17.
When installing 10.5 it terminates with an error message "There is a problem with the Windows  installer package. Contact the package vendor".
It does not provide an error code or details/description to further troubleshoot. As a result I can't upgrade my Apple devices to leverage the cloud.
Any smarts out there who could help?
Using PC Win-7 w/IE 7 (should that matter)
    Thanks much

I know there's a million threads like this, but I thought I'd record my experience.  I, too, was having the original poster's error when I tried to update iTunes on Windows XP.  I think I was stuck on 10.
I solved it by un-installing iTunes and every other Apple app.  I discovered that Apple Software Update would not un-install as its MSI file could not be found.  I used the "Windows Install Cleanup" tool from Microsoft to remove Apple Software Update from the list of installed programs.  Google "kb290301" for a Microsoft page that includes a download link for it.  After that, I was able to install a fresh copy of iTunes 10.5.2.
I'm not sure why this app's folder and MSI were missing from my computer.  I had once used Laplink PC Mover to move everything from my old computer to this one, and perhaps it missed a bit.
