Problem joining Verizon Jetpack MiFi network

Since I upgraded my MacBook Pro to 10.9.4, I can't join my Verizon Jetpack MiFi network.  This is a mobile hotspot device.  I can connect to it from my Android phone with no problem, and I had no problems connecting to it prior to the Mac OS upgrade.  Any ideas?

  • Windows 8 PC can't connect to Verizon Jetpack MiFi 5510L

I have a Verizon Jetpack MiFi 5510L and I am unable to get my Windows 8.1 PC to connect to the Jetpack. My iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.4 and my Lenovo T400 running Windows 7 Ultimate can both connect to the Jetpack with no issue or changing of settings. The Jetpack's WiFi network is visible to my Windows 8 PC (ASUS V500c), but the Windows 8.1 PC cannot connect to it. The Windows 8.1 PC connects to my home wireless network and wireless hotspots in multiple locations just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried everything in the posts, several times, without success, since I'm not sure what parameters to provide. For example, set profileparameter name=<name> authentication=wpa encryption=tkip authMode=userOnly returns an error message The oneX setting in the profile <profile> on interface "Wi-Fi" is not enabled. I've fiddled with a few settings, but nothing that seems to work.
A coherent, step by step, solution would be nice.

  • How do I locate my missing Verizon Jetpack MiFi?

    Hi all,
I am trying to find my missing Verizon Jetpack MiFi and I swear I had it in my office area.  How do I go about tracking it down via GPS?

        Hi Samuraijack18!
I am saddened that your device us misplaced and I am confident your issue has been addressed since your original post! If not let's look into this. We don't have a way to physically locate your device? Does your Jetpack display as an available network from your wi-fi enabled device?
    Thanks,

  • How do I set a data limit on my Verizon Jetpack MiFi 5510L?

I bought a Jetpack with 16 GB a month. I don't like the idea of Overage charges. even though I have been using my data safely. I've currently used 12 GB from a 12/19 - 1/19 cycle with 5 wifi devices. But soon, I will not be here to monitor the data usage for my family members and I'm afraid it will spike when I'm gone. So I want to set my jetpack to automatically stop when it hits 16 gb. is there some option to prevent the data from going past the limit?

Setting up data limits are easier than ever KeatonTS! May I ask are you subscribed to Family Base? If so then you can add and change the data allowance on you jetpack as you see fit. Here's a link to help you out with this amazing service.

  • Connecting HP Officejet Pro 8600 to Verizon JetPack 4G-LTE

Hi, as you can probably guess I am trying to connect my HP Officejet Pro 8600 to my wireless Verizon hotspot.  I have tried to use the "Wireless Setup Wizard".  When prompted I chose the correct network, and entered the correct password.  After some time the printer displays:
    Connection Successful
    IP: No Link
    Network Name: Not applicable
followed by a Hostname and the MAC address of the printer.  When I try to view the wireless connection the window states that I am not connected (as suspected). I then printed the "Wireless Network Test Results".  It reports "No problems found. Congratulations on the successful setup of your wireless printer." and everything under the "Diagnostics Results" section passes. Under the "Current Configuration" section the correct SSID is displayed, however the IP address comes up as 0.0.0.0 (which means I am not connected?).
Also, I checked the Jetpack's configuration page and the MAC filtering is disabled.
Is it possible to connect this printer to a Verizon Jetpack (MiFi)? If so, what am I doing wrong?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It looks like the printer is connecting to the network, just not receiving any IP information.
I will provide the simplest solution that typically resolves this issue.  To receive the best results, be certain to follow them in order.
    1.  Power off the JetPack.
    2.  Disconnect the power to the printer while it is on for 1 minute.
    3.  Power on the JetPack and wait for the network connection to come back up.  This can be easily identified when other devices start connecting to it again.
    4.  Reconnect the power to the printer and wait for the home screen to finish loading.
    5.  Press the antenna icon and select Settings.
    6.  Scroll down and select Restore Network Defaults.
    7.  Once that is completed, reconnect the printer to the network with the Wireless Setup Wizard.
DHCP, dynamic host configuration protocol, is responsible for assigning IP information to devices automatically as they connect.  It is possible to connect to a network without DHCP, there just won't be any communication unless IP settings are set manually.

  • What is wrong with Verizon's 4G network?

A month ago, my wife and I upgraded our Droid 3 phones to new Droid 4's From day one have had issues with the internet just dropping. We have good signal strength, as indicated by the 3 bars, but the internet will just drop. Any application we have running that requires internet will error out saying it was looking for a network. I added a ping application to test the network when this happens, and it will comeback with no connection. After several minutes I might get connection back, but most the times I need to reboot.
I have not bothered going to the Verizon store. The fact that this is happening to both of our new phones,  and many people with different 4G phones are complaining about very same issue, leads me to believe the only possible answer is that Verizon’s 4G network has a major bug in it.
Our sons each have Droid 3 phones and this issue is not on their phones. Until Verizon fixes there network, it would be better to stay on the older 3G phones.

I live in the Chicago suburbs and have been dealing with this for months. I know the reps want to help but until they fix the network this is the way it will be, although you will continue paying a premium for VZW data.
I was just up that way last month since I have family that lives in Lake County. I experienced no problems with Verizon's 4G network.

  • Network problem with Verizon in NYC and Jersey City

    Hi
I have an IPhone 5 on my friends shared plan and ever since I joined Verizon , the network signal has been pathetic. I feel I am being duped of monthly bills as the there is nil coverage on my 41st floor office in downtown Manhattan as well as my residence in downtown Jersey City. Forget about 4G , even 3G stinks for Verizon in this area. My problem is one pays them to have phone for 24 hrs connectivity but Verizon doesn't offer me connectivity for 12 hours of the day I am in office and the only net connectivity on my iphone is when I am back home on my home wifi. I can't understand Verizon being a leader in telecom , can't invest in their infrastructure so that its users don't have to bear this pain. The kind of service you offer, I am sorry to say , is not up to your standards. Kindly suggest how would you solve my problem, I m barely 5 months into the plan and just don't want to be a cash cow to you where once I have signed a contract with you , you forget about your promise to offer me world class service and just expecting monthly payments from me.
    Regards

  • Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L. Is there a problem with Windows 7?????

I have Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L. Have had it for almost 2 years. I was on the internet with my Dell desktop and all of a sudden got a message "not connected to Internet". Spent an hour with Verizon and the Jetpack works fine on my NOOK and another tablet and they said to call Dell. After an hour with them they said Windows 7 is not compatible with a HotSpot and they do not support it.  I had a friend check out my computer (as Dell wanted over $200) and found nothing wrong and it connected fine to his wifi, with no problem.  So HELP what is wrong with my Verizon Hotspot??

I don't see that anything is wrong with your Hotspot from the description you posted here.
First of all the network status indicator built by Win7 is not 100% reliable to begin with.  MS has a simple algorithm that it uses to check internet resources.  When those resources do not respond the status indicator will bounce back and update the user accordingly.  You should always perform your own internet check by manually navigating to Google.com or another public website rather than depend on what Win7 is telling you.
Second of all you know your Jetpack was working because your other personal devices were working.  This makes me think there was some kind of a temporary glitch that would normally be resolved by rebooting either the Jetpack or your PC.
Finally, Dell does not support VZW devices.  When they say the hotspot is not supported they mean Dell does not support VZW products.  You may have misinterpreted what was said.  Dell is only going to support the Dell PC hardware and very basic Win7 problems such as walking you though the connection process.  When something is wrong with the network connection they will always tell you that it is not supported as they have no control over 3rd party vendors.  Win7 supports the Jetpack just fine, the Jetpack is a WiFi hotspot just like any other from Win7s perspective.
If you are having more troubles in the future then I suggest starting with a simple reboot of your devices.  Post back to us here and let us know if that is the case or not.

  • Deskjet 3051A- having trouble connecting to Verizon MiFi network

I have a Deskjet 3051A wireless printer at home. I am using it with a Macbook Air. Our wireless network has changed, and I need to connect the printer to the new network, which is a Verizon MiFi network. Is there a way to do this? I have tried restarting the printer, to no avail. When I try to  install the software from the installation CD that came with the printer, it says that the OS I'm using is not supported by the software. Help, me please!!

    Hi,
If you already installed teh Full Feature HP Software temporary connect the printer using USB, go to Applications > Hewlett-Packard > Device Utilities and follow the HP Setup Assistant, you will be provided with an option to connect the printer to your network.
If there is no Hewlett-Packard folder under applications connect the printer using USB, download and install the software below. be sure to select HP REcommended Software and you will be provided with the option to configure the wireless connection during the installation:

  • Problems joining Wi-Fi networks that require viewing a redirect page in iOS 8.1.1? Check your "Auto-Login" setting.

Are you having problems joining previously used Wi-Fi networks that require you to view a login or redirect page (say to accept Terms of Use) first?  The problem could be your Auto-Login Wi-Fi network setting.
I found numerous cases where I could not access in-store Wi-Fi networks (Nordstrom was one), hotel networks or in fact networks where you had to first view a Terms and Conditions page or where you had to login via a web form.
These were all networks I had used before.
This appears to be due to the "Auto-Login" setting assuming that once you (re)join a previously known network you can just go ahead and use it without further action. When the iOS device receives an error trying to use the network, it silently drops the Wi-Fi association.
If this is happening to you, follow these steps:
    1) Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi
    2) Select the network you want to join
    3) When a check-mark appears next to the SSID, press the "i" button on the right hand side
    4) Set Auto-Join however you want, but shut off the Auto-Login switch
    5) Now attempt to use the network and you should be presented with the usual redirect page with terms you must accept or where you must login to use the Wi-Fi network in question
This cleared up the issue for me everywhere I had previously been having issues.

Just let me get one thing straight...you don't change don't do this for the PC you have your router plugged in to?
    "For Vista:
    1. Open Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center, Manage Network Connections
    2. If Wireless, Right click on your Wireless Network Connection, otherwise, Right click on Local Area Connection and click Properties
    3. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)
    4. Click Properties
    5. Tick Use the Following IP Address and enter the IP you want to use for that PC. I would start at 192.168.0.100(D-Link) and work your way up on each additional device. The second device would be 192.168.0.101, the 3rd, 192.168.0.102 and so on. Like I said, different brands of routers use different IP's, so it could be 192.168.1.100 and so on, so you will need to know the IP address of your router first.
    6. Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 on all pc's and devices
    7. Default Gateway is 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is on all pc's and devices
    8. Tick Use the Following DNS Server Address and enter 192.168.0.1(D-Link) or whatever your router's IP is and click OK.
    9. You will need to do this on all Vista Pc's"

One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

  • Extended Network-Problem joining with Extreme

    Hello,
I have been using my landlords wireless network from upstairs with no problems on my powerbook but now have got an airport extreme and want to extend the network in my apartment and connect the airport extreme to my printer and stereo.
When I use the airport setup assistant, to extend the network, it goes through all the steps, then, after saying "waiting for airport to reset", it says that "there is a problem joining the network, try using the airport menu". It then disconnects me from the network connection.
The network uses a 10 digit WEP 40/128-bit hex password which I can't change because it is set up in my landlord's apartment. I have a feeling this might be the problem, but don't know how to fix it. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
    Peter

Unless your landlord uses an Airport Extreme Base Station, Airport Express, or one of a couple of non-Apple routers that support the creation of an "extended" network (like the Linksys WRT54G) your plan is simply not possible.
You could configure the Airport Express to simply "join" this wireless network. However, anyone else in the building connected to this wireless network would also have access to your printer, and the additional traffic from everyone else on the network might create problems with iTunes streaming to your Airport Express.

  • Problems joining AirPort Extreme network from 10.3

I need to bring an old iMac back into our family network. I erased the HD and installed 10.3. The airport card in the iMac sees our network and knows the password (I also reset the base station tonight so I know the password is correct and works with 2 laptops in the house.). However, each time I enter the password for the AirPort network, I get, "There was an error joining the selected AirPort network." Does this have anything to do with the type of password (WEP, etc?). When the iMac requests the password for joining the network, it simply requests, "Password."
    Thanks!

If you temporarily set the security on your main router to "none", can the iMac connect that way?
If yes, what base station are you using?
