Problem linking SharePoint 2007 calendar to Office 365 Outlook

Hello,
I'm trying to link our SharePoint 2007 calendar to my Office 365 Outlook on my Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1. The problem is, the Actions button in our Sharepoint calendar does not have the "Connect to Outlook" option visible at all. I've done
the connection multiple times and everything should be in order, but now trying to do this with our new Office 365 & Surface Pros this problem occurs. I tried it with two different Surface Pros, neither have the Connect to Outlook button available.
Any ideas?

Having been working on a very similar project for a good few months, I could probably write a novel on this.
First, forget about the tool, there's isn't a golden utility that'll do everything for you.  This is due to the two generation gap between technologies and the move from on-premise to cloud.  Simply throwing a tool at this and hoping it'll work
will cause you problems.
First, analyse your SP 2007 environment and work out what you think your pressure points will be.  For us, there were plenty, such as: -
Custom workflows
Densly populated lists
Changes in functionality, content types and so on
Obsecure changes to web part functionality
You'll want to see HOW any tool you look at handles these issues.  We ended up using Metalogix Content Matrix, which has a few troubles moving workflows and custom forms.  In the end these were recreated manually.

  • How to include the SharePoint engine in my Office 365 Enterprise E3?

I signed up for the Office 365 Enterprise E3 wanting to create a MS Access Web application, apparently MS Access requires SharePoint, I do have the SharePoint Designer however it requires the SharePoint Foundation or Server, netierh of which can run on
an end use machine! so now I am stuck, I thought that Office 365 Enterprise E3 contained all components including the SharePoint engine! How do I include the SharePoint engine in my Office 365 Enterprise E3?

As you say, SharePoint does come with the O365 E3 package. This SharePoint installation is hosted by Microsoft in the cloud.
By default you will already have two site collections created as part of your subscription, you can find details about them, including the URLs, and create more from the Admin center.

  • Is Outlook 2007 compatible with Office 365?

Is Outlook 2007 compatible with Office 365? The Office 365 will be part of Windows 2012 Essentials.

As of the time I am writing this, outlook 2007 still works (but I can personally attest that the experience isn't great.) By the time you read this, that can change and it may not work anymore. Microsoft only guarantees compatibility wothnoffoce
products in mainstream support. So that is 2010 and 2013 (or 365 Pro Plus equivalents.) 2007 is only in extended support, so MS has no guarantees or obligation to maintain compatibility, and they *specifically* call out 2007 support in their supported client
    documentation.

  • Just moved from in house ocs 2007 R2 to office 365 lync 2013, I'm clear to "unprep" right?

We've just migrated from in house ocs 2007 r2 to office 365 w lync 2013.  We are using dirsync to sync our AD with o365.
We'd like to decommission our OCS 2007 server since its no longer being used. Will running unprep impact our hosted lync 2013 setup given that we are using dirsync?  I don't think it should, but just want to confirm.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi MC625,
In my opinion, unprep is not necessary and I suggest you should not perform this action.
I haven't seen an unprep referenced in the migration from OCS to Lync 2013 articles.

The first thing I would recommend to do is to make sure that your install missing Outlook updates and try again.
I would also recommend asking them in this forum: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=outlook

  • Can't add images to announcements in SharePoint-hosted app in Office 365

    I tried something very simple:
    Create a new SharePoint-hosted app
Add a new list to the app, based on the Announcements template
Deploy the app to my Dev site on Office 365
When I now add a new item (aka a new announcement) and try to add an image to the Body field, I encounter two errors (depending on whether I try to add an image from my Computer or from SharePoint)
Adding from my computer gives me an unexpected error:
Adding from SharePoint shows me a structure of all the apps in my hostweb, but no way to upload an image either to the hostweb or the appweb:
Is it not possible to add images to a Rich Text field in a list in an app?

    Hi Rene,
For inserting any image from you computer to you App web, you need to create a separate picture library in your app web manually i.e. in your SharePoint hosted app add a new list item, under list settings window choose "create a list instance
base on existing list template" and in the drop down select
picture library. Now deploy the app and try again.
Generally when we insert any image from our computer to a SharePoint rich text field, the image gets upload in one of the document libraries, but this option is not available in the newly created app web, as it doesn't contains any separate library..
For you next error, make sure that in the app manifest you are providing
read access on the web, this will resolve you second problem.
    Hope it helps you.....

  • Problem with KB 2630976 (related to Office 365 signup) in WSUS

I see that 2630976 is shown as needed by all computers yet when approved no computers install it though WSUS still shows the update as needed. The only posting I've seen about this is from SBS Diva with a recommendation to decline it. Has Microsoft provided
any guidance on this? For more info see:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2630976Kevin Severud CCNA Security & Wireless, MCITP:EA & EDA7 MCTS Exchange 2007, MCTS SQL 2005

I know this is ancient, but it has come up in my environment since it shows up as necessary when running Office 365 Settings
Office 365 is not patched by WSUS or Microsoft Update, so is functionally out of scope for this forum.
If an update is showing as needed on Microsoft Update, then the client has something other than Office 365 installed.
If anyone who replied to Kevin had taken the time to actually go to the link, they would've noticed that it is not an update at all.
Also worthy of note, I don't have this update on my WSUS servers and it's not listed in KB894199 or its ancestors, so I'm curious how this update got on your WSUS server, and what product category it is assigned to. (Not to say that KB894199 might be
flawed, but for an update to be absent both locations is somewhat unusual.)
I did question the legitimacy of the claimed update in my Jan 14th reply. You'll note the O.P. abandoned the thread and never responded.
In WSUS, it is classified as Update Rollups for products Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant
But if it exists in WSUS in Update Rollups and has an Update Title, then it *IS* an installable update. WSUS does not synchronize "informational documents".
but I'm racking my lower end tech savvy brain trying to figure out why Outlook crashes so much for members of my organization even prior to a full load of users.
That's something you'll need to take up in an Office 365 forum (if you are using O365), or a Microsoft Office forum (if you're using Office 2013).

  • Passport Calendar Sync Office 365

I'm having an issue where my Office 365 calendar events are being disaplyed in UTC time. It doesn't matter whether I add them via the passport or outlook, same problem. I've checked that my time zone on both the Passport and in my Office 365 settings are correct and the same. I've removed the account and added it again but still having this issue.
Anyone else out there using Office 365 have the same issue?
    Solved!

I fixed this by changing the time zone on the phone to something else and then changing it back to what it should be. All calendar entries now appear with the correct time.

  • Using the default SharePoint web site in Office 365 with PWA

Hi, we are testing Project Online for the first time.<o:p></o:p>
Per default the Project Web App is installed under
    xyz.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa.<o:p></o:p>
Is it possible, to use it with the standard SharePoint
    team site?<o:p></o:p>
When I activate Project Online for our default web
site, a new Instance of the PWA is set up.<o:p></o:p>
We’d like to use the default PWA instance since it is a menu item in the Office 365 main menu.<o:p></o:p>
In a getting started video from Microsoft is a sample
shown, where a task from a team site list can be enhanced to a Project Online
project. In this case the link from the team web site called the project view
    from the ../sites/pwa instance.<o:p></o:p>
But I don’t have the function/icon in our team
    website.<o:p></o:p>
    Thanks in advance,<o:p></o:p>
    Marcus<o:p></o:p>

Hello, if I understand your query correctly the root PWA site has to be PWA site collection, it can't be a default SharePoint team site. The individual project site (below PWA) can start from just a SharePoint team site though or any SharePoint site with
a tasks list. This can then be added to PWA and converted to a full enterprise project if required or left as SharePoint task list project that can be seen in PWA in visibility mode. Paul

We recently signed up for Office 365 and Project Online.  That adds a link "Projects" in the top nav, but when I click on it, I get error "Sorry, this site isn't available right now. Give us few minutes and try again. If it still does
not work, contact your administrator." Any ideas?

    Hi Darwaish,
How long ago did you sign up?  We have seen some issues where it has take a while or needed re-provisioning.  I'd suggest you follow the support options from the page
