Problem loading old files from Bridge (CS6)

just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 (originally had CS3) now when trying to load images which were loaded in 2002 when using CS3 I get an error message 'windows cannot find  C:\Program files(x86)\Adobe PhotoshopCS3\Photoshop.exe Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again' I assume that there is an association with a file that no longer exists how can I change this?

I am starting to get the same thing. I had CS3&5 on my PC/Win7/64 desktop, along with CS6. CS3 was loaded, but has been deactivated for some time. I deactivated CS5 yesterday. Everything was running fine. Then, today, I unistalled both suites, 3&5. Now, when I try to open an image, raw or jpg, in Bridge, I get the same response as the OP.
My file assoc. is Photoshop for raw and jpg, but it doesn't list a version, just PS.

  • Problems loading RAW files from Canon 6D in Elements 10

Elements 10 - Windows: I have been using the software for a couple of years and never had a problem loading RAW files from my Canon T2i ir 60D, however I just purchased a Canon 6D and when I try to load a RAW from the 6D I get Cannot open 'C:\User...CR2' because it is the wrong type of file.  I thought cameraraw 6.5 patch would be the fix but when trying to install I get "Error loading Updater workflow"

Will the DNG files perform the same, meaning will I retain all the information that makes RAW important for processing?
Yes. That's why DNGs were invented. Adobe has put a lot of work into the DNG format for this very reason.
Raw files are proprietary and manufacturer specific. Raw formats change with every make and model of camera. Software must be updated for the new Raw format of every single camera. Adobe does an admirable job of upgrading Camera Raw for every new camera.
DNG is also a Raw format but it's open source and works in any software which can read the DNG format. If camera manufacturers used the DNG format instead of their own Raw format, you would not have to upgrade Elements 10. But they don't, and probably never will, so you must upgrade the Camera Raw plugin (and therefore Elements 10 since it's not compatible with the new Camera Raw) to read the new Raw format from the 6D or add another step to your workflow with conversion to DNG first.

problems loading raw files from Nikon D750 to lightroom4. Any thoughts?

This is a recently produced model so raw support was only added in LR 5.7 / ACR 8.7, updates to LR 4 ceased about two years ago when LR 5 was issued.
Options a.) Upgrade to LR 5.
b.) Utilize the latest Adobe DNG Converter 8.8 to convert the nef files to dng format then you will be able to import the dng files into LR 4.

  • Can't open file from Bridge CS6 in PS CS6

From Bridge CS6, my files open in Windows Photo Viewer or Live Photo Gallery.  When I go to "Open with" on the File menu PS CS6 is not an option.  I know this has to be simple but it is driving me nuts and I can't get my photos to open in PS when I double click on one of my tens of thousands of photos.
I just bought CS6 yesterday.  Also, do I need to keep the Adobe CS6 file that is on my desktop, or can I delete it now that the program is loaded?  It is 1.77 GB.  If I even need to reload PS, I can do it from the store on my account, right?  Same for the Adobe file that is on my desktop from the LR4 download a couple of months ago.  Also, I left PS6 checked on the download for 64 and the regular PS.  I have windows 7 so I only need 64 bit.  Why is the other PS CS6 (non 64) there?  Do I need it?  Should I uninstall it?  Also, should I uninstall CS4 and CS5?  They are all still sitting there, along with LR3 (I use LR4 now).  I have huge and multiple hard-drives, so space is not a consideration.  But I just want to clean up a little.

Lots of questions here, will see what I can add.
For the file problem go to preferences/file type associations.  You should have the option selected CS6 for the extenstion as the default.  Might try the radio button on the bottom first to set them to default settings.
If the 1.77g file you are refering to is the one you downloaded and used for installation you can delete it.  It is a wise choice to save it to a DVD first so in case you need it in the future you will have it.  Also save the serial number in safe place.  Acutally safe is not the right word, need to save in place where you can find it if you need it next year.  HD can fail.
There are still thrid party plug-ins that do not work in 64 bit mode, hence the 32 bit version.  Also there is no 64 bit TWAIN so some still like to use that for scanning.
Some users experience file association and other problems with an uninstall of past versions.  So it is safest to leave them be.
If you want to clean up a little resist the urge to move any Adobe programs once is is installed.  Can really foul it up.

  • Problem opening Illustrator files from Bridge

I recently installed cs5.5 and can no longer open my Illustrator files from within Bridge.  When I double click on the file in Bridge, it switches to Illustrator and the hour glass appears for about 5-10 seconds before switching back to the selector tool, but the file never opens???  The only way I can open Illustrator files now, is to do the File>Open command within Illustrator.
I'm hesitant to reinstall CS5.5 because it took so long the first time.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks
    Paul

It only seems to affect ai files.  I am able to open psd files from Bridge.
I just discovered that I am also unable to "place" ai files in InDesign.  The same thing happens - I go to File>Place, find the ai file, double click the ai file, the hour glass appears for a brief moment then disappears, but the file doesn't get placed.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Can't open psd files from Bridge CS6

Had both CS4 and CS6 installed, CS4 Bridge added itself when I wanted just CS6 Bridge, so uninstalled CS4.  Now cannot open psd files from SC6 Bridge.  What do I do?.

What is Bridge doing when you try to open the PSD file?  Do you get a warning, does nothing happen?  Did you open the preferences in CS6 bridge and set the file opening preferences to make sure they are set to PS CS6?

  • Reload files from bridge cs6

My mobo died and so I had to rebuild my system.  I am running Bridge cs6 on a win7 64 bit machine.  In order to rebuild my system I built a new C: drive, i.e., I created a new system drive.
All my files from before the crash are available.  All my downloads are visible.
How do I get these files back into Bridge?

Using the folders panel in Bridge example:
Or you can do this from Windows Explorer - highlight the desired folder in Explorer, right click then Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6:
Bridge will build the cache it needs according to how its 'Options for thumbnail quality and preview generation' have been set.  For example:

  • Problems loading RAW files from Canon EOS 70D

I've recently changed my camera from an EOS 500D to a 70D and now find that I can't open the RAW files even though my Photoshop says it's up-to-date when queried through Creative Cloud.  However, when I check the Camera RAW version used in PhotoShopCC 2014 it's 8.0.0.137.  I tried to find and download the recommended version 8.2 but all that gave me was provide me with a DNG converter, which didn't help.  I contacted Adobe chat line but part-way through lost the connection and I can't re-establish it again to complete the process their operative was taking me through.
Has anyone got any ideas about how to fix this?  By the way the files open fine in Lightroom 5.5.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, that was kind of you.
I managed to solve the problem by going to Adobe Labs and downloading and installing a beta version of Camera RAW 8.6, it works a treat.

  • Problems loading raw files from my new camera..

Just got a  canon 6d.. formatted the memory cards before using. and when i went to upload to elements 10 i got a msg that either the files are corrupt or elements cant reconize this file format..  I never have had problems in the past with my rebel.. Any thoughts as to why this might be happening?  Thanks Melissa

    You have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.4
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Load files from bridge into photoshop lagers

I am trying without success to load (two) files from bridge to Photoshop as layers.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking, but I know you can create stacks in Bridge by simply selecting the desired files and pressing ctrl G on the PC (command G on MAC?) I believe there is a forum dedicated to Bridge scripting. You might have better luck there.

  • Cannot Load JPG Files From Canon Powershot S2 IS

    Hi,
I'm having a problem loading JPG files from my Canon Powershot S2 IS. When I plug the camera into the USB port, I get the Canon Camera/DV Twain Driver with a list of images to import. They are all JPEG images, which is my camera's native format. (I don't think RAW is available on this model.) But when I select an image by double-clicking it, it is imported into Photoshop Album (Starter Edition 3.0), but has somehow been converted to TIFF.
The problem I have with this is that the TIFF format uses up about 7 time more disk space than the original JPG and I can't afford a new hard drive right now. I simply don't have enough disk space available to import all my images. (I plan to back them up on CD after importing.)
I see that Edit -> Preferences -> Scanner has an option to save files as JPEG, but Edit -> Preferences -> Camera has no such option.
Please help! How do I get the images to stay as JPEG?
    Thanks!

  • Can't open files from Bridge in CS6

All was good with CS6 until today - it will not open files from Bridge. Jpg and RAW, neither will open, it's driving me bananas! Any suggestions?
Edit: Problem solved. I had overlooked an old version of PS 7.0 was still in my program files and CS6 Bridge had picked it up as default editor. Deleted PS 7.0 and everything is back to normal. Phew!

In previous version I can open psd files to Photoshop with double clicks. Now it open to QuickTime only. How can I go back to the the old way? And I don't want to "place" the file to smart objerct either.

In Bridge cs6 look under the Bridge preferences (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K) and then under File Type Associations, where you can choose the applications to open files from bridge.

  • Exporting to Flickr from Bridge CS6 Fail

I'm trying to export photos from Bridge CS6 to my Flickr.com account for the first time in several months, and getting an error message from Bridge that it cannot "authenticate with Flickr".  I've used presets that were successful in the past, as well as going through the usual routine to get new authentication codes from Flickr.com. I recently updated my iMac to OSX 10.x, but visiting Flickr's community site suggests that they adopted a new API that was sent to developers like Adobe and that Adobe has not updated their export protocol. Other contributors to the site suggest that Adobe's position is that Flickr needs to do something.  Are others experiencing this problem? Does Adobe offer no solutions to this problem?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

I had to rebuild the file from scratch in order to export the pdf, and the hotspots line up accurately to their originally location drawn on fireworks.
This may have occurred because I began the document with a canvas size of portrait letter, but changed the canvas size later to landscape letter, and although everything looked well and fine, the export was still triggering the old referential data in the file.
