Problem loading Sony Cybershot camera to iMac. Any solutions?

Hi
When loading my Sony CyberShot camera via USB link the Device momentarily appears in iTunes Devices then disappears.  I am unable to download phots from the camera. A warning message appears saying that the disk was not ejected properly. (If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off.)  The camera device does not appear in Finder (except momentarily).
Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Your Sony Cybershot video format is probably not supported. See list attached.

Not sure what you want - you shoot the photo by doing a sweep and the camera makes a static JPEG that is long (panaromic) and you import it - on the camera and in iPhoto is is a panaromic photo

What happens when, after you connect your cam, you go to File > Import Media?
But before that, does your cam require you to export your video files upon USB connection? I have a JVC Everio HD and I have to "Export to Library" from the cam's menu first-thing. This was true even in prior iMovie versions.

  • Sony Cybershot Camera turns on and right off

I NEED HELP!! I have a sony cybershot camera. i've had it for about 4 years now. just recently, I reied to turn it on and it turns on but shuts off immediately after. I though it was the batteries, so I replaced them with new ones, and it still does the same thing. Does anyone know what could have caused this? Ther is no water damage, and I haven't really dropped it either.
    Thanks!

In other words, you dropped it. lol
Good point there - "haven't really dropped it" says to me that it WAS dropped, and those retractable lens mechanisms are easy to damage.
Also, in many cases, dust/dirt/sand will kill those lens mechanisms too.  I don't know how many cameras my dad has gone through due to sand gumming up lens mechanisms - he doesn't drop his cameras, and keeps them well padded, but my parents like to go for hiking vacations in arid regions (California deserts, Arizona, New Mexico, etc.)

  • My iBook is not reconizing my sony cybershot camera

when i connect my new sony cybershot camera, it does not appear on my desktop or in iphoto or image capture. my older model fuji camera works just fine. i am at a complete loss. any suggestions at this point would be very helpful. thanks.

Hey jmfordham and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
when i connect my new sony cybershot camera, it does not appear on my desktop or in iphoto or image capture. my older model fuji camera works just fine.
I have to say I was never a fan of the software for any of the manufacturers software for image capture from camera to computer.
I have much preferred to use a USB or FireWire card reader for the different chips. Then capture to iPhoto or Bridge/Photoshop.

    Thanks Eric for responding.
I checked and it does not appear in the Applications folder.
I tried yesterday on an ethernet connection with a download speed of 2 Mbps but, unfortunately the connection died(It happened from the ISP end, which is out of my control) in between after which there was no trace of the download that happened for so long(till the internet connection death).
One more serious query which I am unable to understand. If the internet connection, dies in the midst of the download is in progress why is it so that the state does not persist and one has to restart the entire process again. Is there no solution for this?
I tried so many times and its the same case after some amount of download it vanishes. So many unsuccessful attempts. I am ****** off now. Is it not possible to see Mavericks? Why does different machines of Apple behave differently? Somewhere it goes smoothly and somewhere like my mine. Why did not Apple release a non apple store version? Is this not a bad sign of letting the users struggle when something is being offered for free?
The reason I asked as whether we can download the .app of Mavericks is that, there are so many applications that I have downloaded web and have installed. All that works fine. Can't we do the same here? You download a copy of Mavericks installer application and upload it for me in Google drive or like online storage places which can be downloaded and used by me? Help me understand.
    Thanks again.

  • When I synced my iPad with my laptop it did not transfer 3 videos I took with my Sony Cybershot camera. Why?

When I synced my iPad with my laptop, it did not transfer three videos I recorded on my Sony Cybershot camera. Why didn't it do this?

I responded to your first post and assumed that you didn't have a computer. If I was wrong, I apologize for misreading your question.
Did you totally erase the device and not restore from a backup? If you totally erased the device and set up as new, the passcode should not be on the device.

  • Sony handy cam and iMac

Hi.  I am a fairly new iMac user.  I have a Sony handy cam and my daughter has a canon video camera.  Both are fairly new.  Is there a way to get the videos onto the iMac with the memory card or USB?  Unfortunately the cameras were bought before the computer-I never would have thought Sony wouldn't be compatible with a Mac.  Thanks for any help!

What is the specific model of camera and how are you connecting it (Firewire or USB)? What version of Mac OS X are you running? And what capture application are you using, iMovie or something else?
BTW: Since you're new to the Discussions, here are some general tips for getting the most from the forums:
    - For future question posts, please fill in the Apple ID Preferences in your Discussions Profile with complete information about your system (exact model, RAM, hard drive space, OS and level, etc.). Then be sure to check the Show information about your computer box below the text input field when you create a message. If you have more than one type of system, include the same information as appropriate to the system you're asking about in the body of your post. By providing complete information on your system, others will be better equipped to help you resolve problems.
    - Please be sure to read the forum FAQs and do a search for your topic both in the KnowledgeBase and in the Discussions forums (try at least a couple of different keywords) to see if your question has already been addressed before you post a new question. It may save you waiting time, and will help keep the forums from getting cluttered with redundant posts.
    - To reply to a post, please use the "Reply" button next to the message (the “arrow” button, second from the left), not the "Post Message" link.

  • Need help downloading Sony video camera to iMac

I have been unable to download a video from my son's Sony video camera to my iMac.  It doesn't recognize something?

Well, as per the previous note, more info is needed, but I would also add another question and is it a MiniDV camcorder with a tape or does it have a removable memory card or is it a hard drive-based camera? The reason I ask is that I had an older tape camcorder that I plugged in via the USB cable. Didn't work other than allowing me to access the files on the memory card in the camera. What I needed, (and bought) was a firewire cable that allowed me to control the camcorder and copy off the recorded video straight from my 2010 Macbook Pro. Worked perfectly with iMovie.
A long shot, but may help. Also, what ports do you have on your camera?

  • I have a sony cybershot camera and i cannot get the videos off of it and on to my mac, does anyone know whats up?

Does anyone know how to get the videos off?

    Hi
Is't it so that a Canon CyberShot-Camera is a Still Camera that can take Video clips ?
    If so
Import into iPhoto (video goes here too)
    then in iMovie import
    • Photo's from Media button / Photos
    • Video from EVENT'S window - iPhoto-videor

  • When trying to purchase anything from itunes/appstore via clickandbuy safari cannot load last stage page...any solutions?

I am trying to purchase apps from the app store. As the app store is declining everytime telling me my details are wrong after many attempts at re-entering and reloading the page, i decided to try the click and buy option which doesent seem to work either. The detail process is fine, its the final stage of verifying everything and loading to process the account/order? (not sure as havent got past that stage). Is anyone else having?had this problem and is there any solutions??

iTunes 9 uses the Safari 4.0.3 interface to access the iTunes Store.
If you don't have Safari 4.0.3 or higher on your computer, get it here: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Be sure to choose the version for Tiger (OS 10.4.x).
You can set Safari to accept cookies only from sites you visit (blocking third-party sites and advertisers) in the security tab of Safari preferences.
BTW: The iPhone 3G requires Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later. Is your forum profile up to date?

  • Could not load plugins: File not found. Any solution to that?

I am using a macbook-pro 2009 which, recently upgraded to Mavericks. Since the upgrading I have been unable to open "video clips" from several sites, with the message : "Could not load plugins: File not found". I have made sure of getting the latest Adobe flashplayer and Java, but the problem is still there. Does anyone experience the same? Any solution, please .....

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Sony HDV cameras and FCP - any problems?

    Hello.
I'm looking at buying either a Sony HVR-V1U or HVR-Z7U. Just thought I'd check and see if anybody has had any problems with these cameras and FCP when used in either their DV SP or HDV modes. Any problems with the HDV format for that matter?
    Thanks.
    Canada John

I'll second that; I have a V1-U also, and I've had no problems capturing, and using Print to Video back to tape in the camera.
As for the HDV format in general, the hassle is the long rendering/conforming time required to finish your sequences.
With FCP 6.0.2, though, you can capture with the V1-U via FireWire to Apple ProRes; this eliminates the long render times, but your captured files will be roughly 5 times as large.
