Problem - Logic pro 8 & Yamaha PSR-S500 keyboard - recording drums

I'm using Logic Pro 8 - with a Yamaha PSR-S500 music keyboard connected to my Macbook Pro via a USB cable (the keyboard came with drivers).
All "mono" instruments including piano record fine into Logic's arrange window. However when I want to record a "full drumkit" from the keyboard's Style options. (as if some is playing a full kit) I can record nothing.
I've gone to "mapped instruments" etc in the Environment window - all to no avail. is it because my music keyboard is not midi (ie with actual interface) or should I be checking something else?

This problem points to a buffer that is set too low. Make it one step bigger, but leave the I/O safety buffer OFF.
also: you can disable the warning message.

CAN also be buffer-related, but it may be the disk. Is it a 5400 or 7200 RPM disk?
It may also be that memory is too full. I would recommend installing Menumeters (freeware) http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html#menumeters
You can monitor CPU-use, disk activity, memory use, paging activity and network activity with it.
Another thing to consider is to Freeze all Software Instrument tracks before recording. Also freeze heavily 'insert-pluginned' audio tracks. This may free up a lot of CPU power.
3. This problem might benefit from the above tips as well, but I think you can win the most by NOT using software monitoring when recording (for all three issues); it brings extra latency and puts much more strain on the CPU. Through which plugs do you monitor? And why?
I'ld recommend using the direct monitoring capabilities of both your interfaces, and avoid Software Monitoring when recording. Also being aware of what is going on (by using both Menumeters AND Logics' own CPU-meters) can be crucial - especially Paging (when active RAM is written to or read from disk) can disturb Logic, as well as background OS X applications that kick in during a session.
I also recommend turning off Journaling before a recording session. To do that, open *Disk Utility*, select the recording disk from its' list, hold down the ⌥ key and choose the menu *File>Disable Journaling*.
To turn it back on after recording, same actions, only now the menu item will say *Enable Journaling*.

Yamaha psr 262 keyboard isn't recognized by GB

I have a Yamaha PSR 262 keyboard connected to my Macbook pro, running Leopard. It is connected via a M-audio midi-to-usb connection. In preferences, I have confirmation that one midi connection is establised. However, the keyboard icon doesn't appear on screen and when I use the keyboard in "software instrument" mode nothing gets recorded.

I have no idea how to transfer songs on my Yamaha PSR-E323 keyboard to my macbook. How do I go about that?

I purchased a Yamaha PSR-E323 61-key digital keyboard. I recorded some parts of songs out of the blue that I really like. I don't know what I was playing. It was just something that sounded good at the moment and im going to have to leave my keyboard somewhere unaccesable in two days. So im trying to get my recordings onto my laptop so I can translated the peices into notaion that way. Problem is I have no idea how. I purchased a 1-in/1-out USB MIDI interfae by M-AUDIO. I have a midi in and out put in my keyboard. And I have garageband on my macbook. But no knowledge. And the only reason I havent tried anything yet is because im scared I'll delet the pre-recorded songs on the keyboard that i want to transfer if I connect it to my computer. Can anyone help? In my Yamaha owners manual it only mentions the midi in and out with pc's.

HT2375 Logic Pro 9 is playing back recorded audio tracks ahead of MIDI tracks

When recording audio all of a sudden, my playback of any recording is faster than the MIDI recording. My software instruments are on time, but audio or guitar play through audio is always just a step ahead when recorded through live input monitoring. I've reinstalled Logic Pro to try and fix it, and no change. Any ideas?

Hello there is no problem in audio recording delay
just check your pref ........ midi ......... sync ...... delay ( 0.0 ) ( Reset once again change the value and return it to zero ( 0 ) )

Logic Pro X - How do I record my voice over existing tracks (via a mike and audio interface) without hearing those tracks on the speaker. I have headphones plugged into the interface but it doesn't stop in coming out of the speakers?

I'm new to Logic Pro X and can't work out how to record my voice over existing tracks without them playing over the speaker. I'm using a Sure mike through an audio interface and have headphones plugged into the interface?

Hi friends,
I downloaded all additional content and its have been showed as Installed happen that I cant play some of the pianos, drumkits and basses because it have missing samples.
Follow example message showed: EXS24 Instrument "Drum 'N Bass Remix.exs": Audio file "YT2_GGHIHTX01_3ue.aif" not found! Does anyone know how could I solve this?

In Logic Pro 9 it seems there is a possible issue with the additonal content not being correctly/fully downloaded using the Logic Pro menu option to do so... on some people's systems. The reason for this is not fully understood at this time.
However using the external links below.. seems to fix this problem.

On Logic Pro 9, how do you record your voice?

I looked at Logic Pro > preferences > audio and then I saw devices. I clicked on Built-in microphone but I got feedback. I do not have an external mic.
Please write on the proper procedure to record my voice in an 'empty project' and/or 'songwriter'. please also give references to the manual. thx!

Meanwhile, have you tried connecting a pair of headphones to disable the internal speakers and so prevent feedback from occuring?

Ultrabeat pattern export problem - Logic pro X

When I try to drag a pattern to the arrange window my changes to the pattern are lost and the original pattern is dragged instead (changes made are ignored).
I am taking a pattern and making changes. No matter what I do, if I try resaving the whole kit with the newly changed pattern or if I change a pattern, copy and paste to a new pattern slot... when I drag the new pattern, still the originaly pattern is copied to the arrange window. Help! (Please)
I am new to Logic Pro X, finally making the switch after a long love affair with FL studio. I am very familiar with DAW's but have to say this one has me stumped.

How to load midifiles from MAC to Yamaha psr-e413 Keyboard

I want to transfer midi files from my MAC-lion in to my Yamaha Keyboard model psr-E413. Currently installed on my MAC is the midi driver from Yamaha. This works well to transfer notes from my keyboard to my MAC, playing the keyboard using garageband.
I now want to load midi files from my MAC into my keyboard. Is there a file transfer program on the MAC that i can use for this purpose ?

Just place the USB stick into one of your ports. You should see an item appear on the desktop representing the USB stick. Just drag the zip file from your desktop to the USB item. If you don't see an icon appear on the desktop after plugging it in, then check your Finder window for it.

Where do i find the classic hip hop remix ultrabeat setting in logic pro x, i have downloaded all drum kit additional content and have yet to see it. please help!

i have been looking all over for this setting, really wanna make hip hop beats with this ultrabeat setting but i cant find it, it says i have intalled all the drum kits but i didnt install a few other packages i thnk have nothing to do with ultrabeat, just wondering how you get this and more drum kits for ultrabeat, i have about 15 but have seen people with close to 30 so please help me out on where to get additional kits! i have downloaded all additional and still cant find it!

Personally, if you have the space, I'd download all the content... as there is so much on offer for free... that you may find useful in the future.

LOGIC PRO - problem when recording guitar

Hi,
So I am having the following problem as I plug in my guitar in the interface (yamaha) and then into logic pro. I manage to record in the AUDIO track for some time, about a minute or so, and then I always hear a strange scratching sound and the guitar suddenly stops recording. I have tried it over and over and it always happens. I thought it was because the PHANTOM button on the interface was on, but even when I turn it off it still happens.
does anybody know what I am talking about and what is the solution to this problem?

these things didn't work. I think that the problem also has to do with the interface on my guitar (not sure it's called that way. What I mean by it is the electronic little box ON THE GUITAR that works as a tuner and needs to be turned on when you are connected to a speaker), because that's what turns off as I am recording. so I am wondering, is there a way to record the guitar without having that little box thing turned on, by any chance? the yamaha is a AUDIOGRAM3

Logic Pro X recording problems

Logic X isn't recording my audio! My c400 fast track is connected, the track is armed but when i push the record button it just brings me to the beginning or doesn't do anything.

1) Logic Pro X:Preferences:Audio:Devices Recording Delay Offset should be zero (or near zero)
2) Any Latency-inducing plugins on Output channel?

Help needed in connecting two midi keyboards to Logic Pro.

Hey there, I would like to connect two midi keyboards to Logic Pro and enable each keyboard to trigger separate software instruments each. For example, one keyboard has guitar and the other has strings.
I realise this must have something to do with midi channels or ports, however my knowledge is limited.
At current, I just have the two keyboards connected via usb straight to the computer. Is it possible I need a multi input or output interface, so that Logic can recognise different ports, or channels? Perhaps there is simply something I need to do in Logic itself? the keyboards are basic M-Audio midi controllers, just a usb port - thats it, no other connections. Any help would be great, Brad.

yes you need also to change the out midi of the keyboards.
in my case I have the Keysation 61 es, it's done this way:
"Channel
MIDI data from the keyboard can be sent on any of 16 MIDI Channels. However, certain MIDI devices and MIDI software applications require
the keyboard to send data on a speciﬁed channel. If this is the case, you can change the channel the data is sent using the following
method:
< Press the Advanced Functions button to engage Edit Mode.
< Press one of the 16 Channel keys from D1 to E3, according to the Channel that you need.
For example, if a device speciﬁes that you need to send data on Channel 10, press the Advanced Functions button, and then key F2 to select
Channel 10.
The Channel can also be assigned to the Octave “+” and “-” buttons. Once assigned, pressing “+” or “-” will increase or decrease the channel
incrementally. When Channel 16 is reached and “+” is pressed, Channel 1 will be selected. If the Octave “+” and “-” keys are selected to vary
the Channel, the lights above the buttons will not change, since it is not possible to have a Channel with a negative value. Pressing both the
“+” and “-” buttons together will recall Channel 1."
Can you please tell me what keyboards do you have?
this is for two players having a go on completely 2 different parts.
In case you want to record 2 tracks with the same content say a piano and a pad,
all you need to do is open the tracks and rec enable both and you have piano pad.
Anyway I believe you need to have two separate sounds for two players?
Give us some more input of what you want, there must have one or more solutions to what you need.

MIDI Keyboard Not Working With Logic Pro X

I have a MIDI keyboard that I've had for a while. I've upgraded to Logic Pro X, but the keyboard isn't working. I can't hear sound when I play it, nor when I record and try to play it back to myself. What's more frustrating is that I used this keyboard all of the time with Garageband, and there were no issues . It's a simple M-Audio DigiCore MIDI keyboard, and I've updated everything, but I just can't get it to play. I am new to this software, so I'm having a really difficult time navigating this as well, so any help is welcome.

Ok here's what happened, controller was working fine everything set up, then it quit. called tech help at sweetwater, the motu was not seen as a midi interface anymore...went to motus web site, downloaded update for 10.4.4 THAT WAS IT! now it works!

Accessing Yamaha Motif XS8 sound bank using Logic Pro X

I just got Logic Pro X and want to record sounds from my Yamaha Motif XS8's sound bank. I see that the midi data is recording but there is no sound playing. Can anyone help?

How have you connected your Motif to your Mac?
Midi both ways? (What interface are you using?)
Are you using an external Instrument track in Logic to record and send midi data to and from Logic?
How are you recording the audio output of your Motif?
Have you conntected the audio output of your Motif to audio inputs of an audio interface (again if so, which interface) and created a Audio track in Logic to record the audio output?
You do realize that Midi is not audio yes?
