Problem: MacMini, Blackmagic Mini Recorder and FMLE
Hi, I just bought a Mac Mini with a 2.6 Ghz Quad Core and Fusion Drive and Blackmagic Mini Recorder (Thunderbolt). Unfortunately it does not work at with the Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2. After about 40 seconds stops the transmission, then selects FLME again and after another 30 to 40 seconds, the transmission stops again. I have an error source only Blackmagic suspected, but it is clearly FMLE. Wirecast with the transmission works flawlessly.
Unfortunately, there is no support for Adobe FMLE, there is also no information about an update. Presumably, the program can not cope with Thunderbolt. The Mac Mini is very well suited for streaming.
Even with USB 3.0, it does not funktiert because Blackmagic USB 3.0 does not work on Apple. This is all very annoying. You should make a practice test so that you do not spend $ 1,000 for hardware and you can not use them because FMLE does not work.
I own a BM Mini Recorder as well as a BM Intensity Shuttle w/Thunderbolt and both of them work on two Mac laptops with Core i7 chips running FMLE. I have not done any extensive testing in my commerical webcast operation here in Silicon Valley, but I got it to work.
I would be interest in hearing more about your troubles, as well as from anyone out there with a Quad Core Mini Mac trying to run FMLE or Wirecast.

I have a mac mini i5 and its been playing up. Randomly it will get the multicoloured spinning wheel and crash, the screen will flick on and off and then I get a white screen with a folder and a ? inside it. Anyone got any answers or solutions?

Inputting from a digital source (mini recorder - -BOSS micro BR)
I have recorded original song tracks on a mini recorder and want to input the song into Garage band. The project chooser window does not give me any options for inputting digital sources, so I am at a complete loss as to how to begin. I am not recording a voice or any of the instruments shown.... the "HELP" does not indicate how to do this. At least I have not found it, so the "Help" is not much help..This is my very first time at using Garage Band, and am already stymied. Can someone please give me 3 basic steps to get the song into Garage Band? Thanx.
Are you asking how to get files from this mini recorder onto your Mac?
Once the files are actually on the Mac, and assuming they're in a format GB can import (WAV, AIFF, mp3, or aac), then we can help you get those files into garage band.
You'll have to read the documentation that came with your recorder on how to transfer files to the Mac first.

Help with PPro CC 2014.1 and Blackmagic Mini Monitor

I just installed a Decklink Mini Monitor card for use with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1. I installed the latest card drivers and updates and all is working fine. I set Premiere playback settings to Blackmagic output, navigated to the Blackmagic control panel and set default video standard to 1080 50i and then I created a new Blackmagic YUV 720p 50p project. The footage used in my project is 720 50p and 1080 50i. What puzzles me is that although I have output for both the above formats when either is placed on the timeline (program monitor) I only get preview of the source monitor when the footage loaded to it is 1080 50i, no external preview of any other footage, not even 720 50p. Any ideas on this? I even tried switching default video standard output to 720 50p with no luck and I get the feeling it's a Premiere issue, because the footage loaded to the source monitor on both Avid's MC 8 and Grass Valley's Edius 7 works jist fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated :-)Ok, since I found the solution, I felt I should share. It turns out the problem was from withim PPro. I had to navigate to Edit > Preferences > Playback, then go to the Blackmagic Setup option and select either "Scale to fit" or "Centered" at the "unsupported format" option.

Buzz on audio when recording and in playback - new mini mac?
Up until now I have been recording on a Macbook Pro, however I have recently moved onto a Mac Mini and that's when this problem started...
I am having trouble because when I play audio and the R button is on theres a high fuzz/ buzz/ ringing sound along with what I am playing. This is recorded and I can hear it when I listen back too. What's weird is that there's a dead silence between the notes. When recording software instruments through a usb midi keyboard it works and playback as it should.
I have tried changing the usb input of my sound card, using different instruments incase it's a buzz from that, changing the leads, and also checked the sound card still works fine with my old Macbook Pro. All this is fine. (I use an Alesis IO4 sound card)
All I can think is theres something I don't understand that I haven't done properly in Logic since installing it on the Mac Mini which differs to how it is set up on the macbook. That, or something is wrong with the Mac Mini itself however it's brand new from Apple.
Please help if you can shed any light on this.
I hope this makes some sense!I would suggest providing an audio sample of the "fuzz/buzz/ringing sound" so that people can better guess what the problem is.
Noise comes from many places, and there are many types of noise.
Hard to take a shot in the dark otherwise.

10.4.10 update and very strange problem with Mac Mini

I have just updated my Mac Mini Intel and I am having a strange problem.
My Mac Mini has problems booting up. Sometimes I get through the login screen as normal but my wallpaper shows and there are no desktop icons, no dock, no top of screen finder menu bar. Some other times I get stuck in the progress bar of the booting up.
I tried to run utilities from install disk and there were no problems detected.
The VERY STRANGE thing is that several times now as I put my fingertip onto the power button laying it on the button but not pressing it yet (because I would like to shut down the system), the system kicks in and becomes unfrozen!!!
Someone in the 123macmini.com forum says that this problem is related to the airport receiver which is near the power button.
What do you think about it???
MacBook and MacMini Mac OS X (10.4.10)ok, I have found a kind of fix for the problem, although may run a hardware test to check something!.
I unplugged all USB and Firewire devices, I turned off Bluetooth and Airport, reinstalled the 10.4.10 combo update, when it restarted the starting mac osx screen took barely a second or 2 to load (my comment above is becuase from when I first got it on Sunday I noticed it was slow to boot up, also noticed that the screen resoulution I have set does not kick in until I log on, although this may be becuase this mac mini is an intel one). The computer booted up very quickly and I tuend on bluetooth and airport with no issues and plugged all the usb and fireware devices back in. I again turned the airport off and restarted and again it booted up very quickly logged on and swithced the airport back on. I decided to reboot with the sirport on and it got stuck at the end of the os x starting up screen, I waited a few mins switched it off and on again and it booted up fine although slower. I dont mind turning the airport off when I power down as the mac usually stays on anyway. I assume Apple will release a fix for this as a lot of people seem to have the problem so think I will stay put with this for the time being. It was taking a several goes to get to the login screen before but usually got there every few boots. -

How do you watch and record a live h.264 stream at the same time using fmis and FMLE?
I've read all the similar post but could not find a solution that actually works, and please no "just use the dvr or record on the FMLE suggestions" as neither will work for me.
Some posts I've read suggest naming the stream in the FMLE to something like mp4:mystream.mp4 or mp4:mystream.f4v but then you can no longer view the stream, and according my the admin console the stream will not even publish using this syntax.
I can view the published stream if I name the FMLE stream to something like mystream.mp4 or just mystream, but then it doesn't record at all or records as a FLV file depending on how I code the main.asc file.
Here's one version of my main.asc, this one correctly publishes the live stream after the client triggers the joinStreams function but will not record it.

i purchased a new wrt610n and one of the machines that is connected is a mac mini, 1.66 ghz intel core duo.
#ma2066/ll/a for those who want to compare notes. the computer is stock with the 802.11g wireless card that came with the machine. it is running the current software and all the updates are up to date.
i am using wpa 2 personal w / aes
their is some kind of incompatibility or issue between the wrt610n and the mac mini.
either using the wireless connection OR connected directly to the router, web pages are very slow to load. sometimes it can take up to 45 seconds for the mac mini to open up a webpage. for 45 seconds it is at 'contacting website'
when i try to run software update, i get a time out error -1001, make sure you can connect to the internet and try again.
hulu desktop is also running slow.
copying a file from the mac mini to a another computer over wifi averages about 1 mb/s
when i informed linksys about this problem, they took my phone number and said that a linksys Technician / senior tech support employee would call me back. that was a day or so ago. i asked if i can have any newer firmware, considering the latest is 5 months old.
i am considering returning this router, but i don't see a lot of good alternatives that have similar features. i have 21 days to return this. the restocking fee will be 15% i am also considering various 802.11n solutions for the mac mini, even including the dell 1500 wireless mini card, i heard it works as an airport card.
if i do get a different model router i would like external antennas.
my previous router was a 5 year old wrt54gs version 2.0, and it never had a problem with any of the computers with the network.
the trouble shooting steps involved changing the beacon to 75 and the mtu to something else, i forgot. it did not make a difference.
i moved the mini and connected it wired to the wrt610 and turned off the airport wireless card and there was no improvement.
when i disconnected the wrt610n and connected the mac mini directly to my dsl modem. the issues were suddenly gone.
theres some kind of problem with this particular unit. and i would like to hear from others who have solved this or are experiencing the same problemJust out of curiosity: what internet provider do you have? I'm just asking since I had similar issues after switching from AT&T DSL to AT&T U-verse. Sometimes pages took a very long time to load, or just a part or image of the page. Sometimes I would get a page not found error or something like this and only refreshing the page several times would retrieve and display the actual page.
Here's what I did: I went into my iMac's network preferences and switched the DNS server IP with one from OpenDNS.com, such as 208.67.222.222.
Since then I haven't had these issues anymore. Don't ask me why though; but I would be curious to hear whether this may fix your issue as well! -

I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro soundcard. I have been using Cubasis to record music with. I was accustomed to plugging my guitar cable and microphone into the input named "Line 2/Mic 2." It worked forever and it recorded fine. After taking a break from recording, I plugged in my microphone, and with all settings up and the "Line 2/Mic 2" input activated on Cubasis, I got alot of feedback and a very faint recording. I went in and saw that the setting on Creative had that input muted. I thought my problem was solved. I turned it up but I still had the same results. I used to be able to plug the mic in and talk through the speakers but not anymore. Any ideas or suggestions?Message Edited by bwbucs23 on 2-2-2005 04:56 AM

This is just a thought as I don't feed guitar into my sound card, but I do use an external mixer. But I'm wondering if you're going over-voltage on the sound card inputs when you crank up the volume on the mixer. SB cards are only meant to take in 2v RMS. What happens if you turn the volume up high enough to cause the crackling and then turn it down very gradually to where the crackling stops? The big question then, of course, is whether it's still loud enough to hear. Like I said, it's just a thought.
