Problem managing printer in iManager

Hi,
created an printer in iManager 2.7.4 on OES2 SP2 Linux with all patches.
Trying to manage the printer from an XP workstation, selecting drivers,
a window pops up with Content "Drivers" and stayed forever. I close this
window, the OS list states Linux. When I try to select an different OS
the same Windows with content "Drivers" pops up again and Linux is
selected again.
Also Internet explorer reports this error: "'profilePrinterModels' is
null or not an object" Line: 134 ...
I restarted all iPrint related services and I tested with IE 8 and
FireFox on XP and Windows 7 i386 but non worked.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?
Walter

I have the same issue with IE 8.0.
Interestingly on FF 3.6.12 the pop-up just opens and closes so fast,
that you can't see, what it contains. But afterwards you can select
freely between driver-platforms and move and select freely between your
drivers and driver-profiles, as it is supposed to work.
BTW this is on iManager Workstation under Windows.

  • Color management problem when printing

    (sorry for the double post, since the problem affect both illustrator and photoshop and in fact also indesign) in decided to repost it here in the photoshop forum. thank you for any help!)
    hi ! im in charge of a big print lab in a university. All macpro quad running on 10.6.4, CS5 all updated.
    i  have a major problem when printing from all 3 CS5 apps : Illustrator  (being the worst), photoshop and indesign : each one produces a  different print even if i use the SAME color management options (the  application manage color using my own color profile file created with a  i-one tool from greta macbeath and using eye-one match 3). im printing  on a XEROX 7750gx laser printer. very cool printer never had trouble  with colors before with it, in any case it was always the software part  that was causing color problems (like i suspect in this case).
    how  can 3 softwares under the same application collection and brand, using  the same color profile and options (IDENTICAL ! it's triple check all  the options!) can produce 3 different prints when printing the same  image (it's a color psd created under photoshop CS5) ?!
    i  remember having some trouble like this when we first got CS1 in our lab,  but not this bad... i've checked everything... i realy don't know how  to fix this problem...
    the best setting so far is in  Photoshop when the application manage the color and using my color  profile file in perceptual mode. best output so far, not the best i had  in the past, CS4 was way more perfect with color management.
    i  realy need to find a solition 'cause the students expect the color to  be almost perfect (and they almost were using CS4 in the past...
    thanx for any tips & help !

    many thanx for your reply & help.
    i've just recalibrated everything in my workflow : my screen (perfect!), my xerox 7750 color laser printer. i've recreated a new color profile file for the xerox color. and the same thing is happening : a kind of pink color all over my prints and every adobe's applications is printing different results. in photoshop i can manage the problem when forcing to print in perceptual mode. not perfect but it's fine. and with the other software specialy like ACROBAT and INDESIGN there's no option like this so it prints very badly. only option is to print in adobe 1998 rgb or SWOP cmyk (depending of the color space of the image of course)... the image is use for my test is RGB. images in CMYK are doing the same exact thing.
    by the way for calibration is use an x-rite (greta macbeth) eye-one tool with eye-one match 3.6.3. i calibrate the screens and create color profile with this tool since ADOBE CS1 and never had this much trouble with colors...
    here's a capture from photostop CS5 print dialog. when using the option "match print colors" you can see the image with all the PINK NOISE when using the print in RELATIVE colormetric mode (at the bottom right). using perceptual is "fine" (not color perfect but OK).
    http://i53.tinypic.com/qzge12.jpg
    it's worst in Acrobat and Indesign since i can't use perceptual colormetric print mode...
    im realy starting to think that i better uninstal CS5 and go back to CS4...
    thanx for your help !

  • Problem with printing true colors

    Had PSE7 and colors printed true and beautiful. Upgraded to PSE10 and all of a sudden colors printed muddy and dull with purplish overcast. Took printer in for service but problem persisted. Upgraded to PSE11 and once again colors were printing true and beautiful for over a year. Printed a card about 5 days ago using PSE11 - beautiful. Printed a card yesterday using PSE11 and colors muddy and dull with purplish overtones. Installed  PSE13 and colors printing dull, muddy with purplish overcast..  I feel it is a problem somewhere in settings of PSE, but can't figure out where.  I don't think it is a problem with printer. Both printer and PSE set to Adobe RGB. Color control set to optimize for printer. Using PC with Windows 7, 64 bit. Printer is Epson stylus photo 1400.  Thanks for any help, Merrie

  • Epson print profile problem. Prints overexposed.

    I am doing something wrong so here it goes. I was printing on Epson semi gloss paper and all was fine. I switched to Epson Premium Glossy paper, switch to what I think is the proper printing profile according to the Epson website, but now when I print all my photos are overexposed. On the screen they look fine. I have tried to adjust using Aperture but it appears I cannot adjust enough to make a difference. My printer is an Epson R2400, I believe all my drivers are up to date, as well as my Mac software. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    I am pretty sure there is a bug in Aperture, because I can get perfect prints from Preview or almost any other app, but with Aperture 2.1.1 and Mac OS X 10.5.5, my colors are off. Note, my problem is prints are too dark, not too light, and my prints from Aperture have a green cast.
    After struggling with this for a while, I think I have a work around. I posted it here: http://blogs.oreilly.com/aperture/2008/06/printing-tips.html. Copied below, for your convenience. I hope it helps.

    I am using a Epson R1900 (which is a huge improvement from my Epson Stylus Photo 870). I have a calibrated display, and colors are on very good on the display.
    I use the latest printer driver from Epson. NOT the Gutenprint, gimp, or cups print drivers. I tried those, and was not pleased.
    Here is my workflow and settings.
    Select Print (image, book, whatever) to get the printer dialog. Select your printer. Then (this is important), select ColorSync Profile = SystemManaged.
    Now, hit the print setting button. Select the driver specific setting from the pop-up menu. On an Epson, it is called "Print Settings". Then select your paper type, color= color, 16bits, color settings= 'Off (No Color Adjustment)', print quality, and speed. If you have advanced settings, check those. My advanced setting tells me the name of my colorsync profile. Very handy if you are going to calibrate your printer for different papers.
    Now everything is set up. It should print fine. But is doesn't. At least in Aperture. So, hit Preview in the main print dialog box. That should send a PDF temporary file to Preview. In Preview, select print. Now do all the settings again.
    In Preview, there is a "Color Matching" setting on the popup menu. Select Color Matching, ColorSync (as opposed to EPSON Color Controls). I select profile "Automatic" which gives the same profile noted above under advanced settings.
    Now, finally, you can print. And the prints look great.
    From any application besides Aperture, the colors are so good on the print, I did not even bother to calibrate the printer. The stock profiles are perfect. Using the work around above, I also get excellent color.
    Using Aperture, with either the colorsync profile selected in Aperture, or using System Managed, I get poor results. Too dark with a green cast. But by sending the print to Preview first, I am able to work around the bug.

  • Managed Printer pref's in WM not being applied correctly.

    I'm having real troubles trying to manage printers on our network using Workgroup Manager.
    What I'd like to do is to be able to manage all users and computers list of available printers, so we can manage print volumes better and reduce problems with people not having access to the correct printer.
    I know this is achievable using Workgroup Manager, and I believe I've set it all up correctly, however, it's simply not working.
    Here's what I've done:
    Added necessary printers to the Server using Sys Prefs on server. (Checked the printers by sending test prints from server)
    Started Print Service on server using Server Admin, and setup queue's for each printer using IPP.
    Made changes to User Preferences in Workgroup Manager to 'Always' manage Printing Prefernces, and added the relevant printers from the available list into the Printer List for each user/group.
    I've duplicated these settings for the Computers aswell, to double check.
    I've checked on user's logged into machines, and from System Profiler have confirmed that the relevant Managed Settings have been picked up by the client,
    BUT...
    When user's try to print, the managed printers I allocate them in WM, DO NOT appear in the list of available printers within any application, and in Sys Prefs / Print & Fax NO printers are displayed.
    If I manually go in and manage Printers, I can add the printers which are shared by the Server and they work OK, but the whole point is that I want to manage the settings from WM, across large groups etc.
    All other settings managed by WM (user dock settings, home folder mounts etc.) DO appear to be working, just not the Printing ones.
    Please help!

    Hi,
    Well, that makes sense, and I've followed your instructions aswell as possible, but infortunately, I can't find a PPD file for one of the main printers - the HP2600n. Even the PPD for the HP3600 didnt work (although I am using HP3600dn's)
    This just seems ridiculous - both printers are new, and not exactly obscure, and yet one of the most fundamental reasons for using a server - sharing service such as printing, simply causes more trouble than it's worth.
    I can't beleive Server 10.5 can't accomplish this relatively simple task without this much ******* around required.
    Also - if I manage a large number of groups/users print preferences, I would have to manually edit the com.apple.mcxprinting.plist for EVERY user/group - it would almost be easier to just go around the client machines manually installing the printers!
    Rubbish Apple - sort this out please!

    If this is the case the case then u need to check if TCP/IP line printer service is running or not by navigating to

    right click my computer--> manage --->services and applications(down the bottom)-->services ---> then look for TCP/IP PRINTING service
    if its not ther then u can enable it as following

  • CUPS in 10.5.7 and managing print jobs

    I know that 10.5.7 modified CUPS. Printing directly still works fine (I'm battling other issues with printer sharing but that's a different topic that I'll tackle after this one is sorted) however when trying to manage print jobs via CUPS I see no jobs at all... not completed jobs, not current jobs, not jobs waiting in the queue.
    I rolled back to 10.5.6 and everything works fine. Applied the combo update and the problem came back immediately.
    I tried replacing the current cupsd.conf file with one from when the system worked... no change.
    I'm seeing the same problem on numerous Intel iMacs in a lab setting as well as on my personal MacBook Pro.
    It's difficult to manage print jobs that you can't see. Any ideas?
    Bob Smith

    I may well do that but that will be a very time consuming process considering 25 computers are affected and it would force the re-do of a number of other tedious non Apple updates that can't be batch done via Apple Remote Desktop. I don't want to go down that road if there's a chance that I don't have to. Since Apple has chosen to modify CUPS I assume that sticking with 10.5.6 is only postponing the inevitable. I might as well deal with it now if possible. I'm not giving up that quickly.

  • Problem with printing in character mode

    Hi
    I got a genuine problem in printing continous payslips using character mode with a TALLY6050 printer.
    I guess there is a problem with the page setup when i try to print via windows. using different sizes of paper (Letter, A4, A3), the printed data is shifting from one page to another but the shift is following a same trend.
    i tried to put one payslip per page using page breaks, but in vain. Three payslips are being printed on one page when viewed in the print perview.
    Can anyone suggest any help or tips so that i can solve this problem?
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks for your response.  I went ahead and filed a Correction Action Request for your orignal issue, since I was able to reproduce the same behavior when I ran your VI.  The solution of printing the front panel of a subVI displaying the same graph is a workaround for this problem. Please look at the following KnowledgeBase for more details on how to do this.  Hope this helps!

  • Date problem in printing

    Hi frnds ,
    I in my mail i am having problem to print the date .

    2008//0/4 instead of 2008/04/13
    or sometimes for some other documents
    it is printing the currect date
    I am also having problem to print a char variable . It is getting truncated . like only rohit istead of rohit gupta .
    Plz Help

    Rohit,
    I guess you have chosen wrong forum.
    Well provide some info:
    1. how you are accessing the mail is it send mail activity or FM
    2. How data is getting populated into mail.
    If you are using send mail activity then check that how you are passing date to it, It might be possible that it is wrong binding happening between containers.
    In case of FM you gotta debug it.
    Cheers

  • Problems with printing( hp Color LaserJet)

    Printer HP Color LaserJet 1500L under Mac OS 10.4.2 Tiger refuses to work normally. It prints 1 or sometimes 2 sheets of paper and then it stops working. All other tasks just move from the active category into completed one without any printing. Printer's indicator starts to wink but then it stops and nothing more happens. The next printing begins only after switching the printer off and on or after restarting operation system. After this it prints 1 or 2 pages and everything begins again. We tryed to use standart drivers which were attached to the printer and the drivers which we downloaded from the HP official site. There is no difference. We tryed to connect the printer to another Macintosh computer under Mas OS X 10.4.2 but the problems didn't disappear. Also we tryed to change USB cable between the printer and the computer. It also didn't matter. Before it the printer worked under Windows XP normally without any problems.

    Same printer, similar problems. I get stopped jobs that refuse to print even after I hit the start printing button. There is a message on this site tackling this issue for an Epson printer. Haven’t tried it out yet myself.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 "Problem with Printer or Ink System'

    A gander at this forum suggests I am one ofa multitude of people perplexed by this issue. There is a notation beside one enquiry which says 'Problem Solved'.... well it isn't for me. My printer (typical!) is one month out of warranty. I had to replace the black cartridge and, when I did, it came up with this error prompt. I then replaced all the other cartridges. HP suggests removing the printhead and following that they say place it 'upside down on a clean sheet of paper'... NO instructions for cleaning it!! When it is replaced in the printer they suggest you 'rock the printhead left and right to make sure that the printhead fully seats in the carriage' and if THIS doesn't fix things 'try reseating the printhead up to 3 times'... This in itself is an admission of an 'issue' with this product. It doesn't sound like a very scientific engineering 'fix' to me!
    A new printhead costs almost what we paid for the printer a year ago. I hate consigning anything to landfill that I can avoid... unfortunately it looks like that is where this unit belongs...

    Hi @Robin_Perth,

    Going back on your issue.. the basic step would be.. take out the inks then close the door... what error message you  got? If it's saying "Missing Ink Cartridge" just hit OK. • Problem with printing a PDF

    Hi All,
    I'm developing a web application written in J2EE that uses Java Reporting Component (JRC) to display crystal reports from some filters recovered from a jsp and passed to a report .rpt previously designed and invoked just at runtime.
    I have a problem with printing a PDF:
    I want, after entering the filters in a jsp, to print a report in PDF format (WORD) without opening it
    with Adobe Reader (Microsoft Word). The class of API JRC used for export is ReportExportControl.
    Can anyone help me?
    I wish a great day to You all.

    Hi Ted Ueda,
    sorry for the delay of my answer.
    I understand very well the problems related to security.
    With the following code that I used to produce a report (PDF) at runtime,
    is the PDF created on the server and then sent to the client, or is it directly created on the client as PDF
    from RTF previously realized?
    ReportExportControl exportControl = new ReportExportControl();
    String report = report path;
    ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDoc.open(report, OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
    Object reportSource = null;
    reportSource = reportClientDoc.getReportSource();
    //The method setConnectionProperties() stores all the connection parameters in the collection
    //ConnectioInfos
    ConnectionInfos connInfos = setConnectionProperties(request, reportClientDoc);
    exportControl.setEnableLogonPrompt(false);
    exportControl.setEnableParameterPrompt(false);
    exportControl.setReportSource(reportSource);
    exportControl.setDatabaseLogonInfos(connInfos);
    //Single method to pass parameters to Crystal Reports. Using classes ParameterFieldController and
    //ParameterFieldDiscreteValue
    setReportParametersValue(reportClientDoc, reportParameters, subReportParameters);
    ExportOptions exportOptions = new ExportOptions();
    //Set the export format (PDF)
    exportOptions.setExportFormatType(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    PDFExportFormatOptions PDFExpOpts = new PDFExportFormatOptions();
    exportOptions.setFormatOptions(PDFExpOpts);
    exportControl.setExportOptions(exportOptions);
    exportControl.setExportAsAttachment(true);
    try {
          exportControl.getHtmlContent(request, response, getServletConfig().getServletContext());
    } catch (ReportSDKExceptionBase e) {
    throw new ApplicationException("error code", ": error message"); }
    As, however, I predicted in my previous message about the direct printing on the client,
    I read about ActiveX, but I don't know how to use them.
    I read this information in the 'Crystal Reports for Eclipse Developer Guide' about "printMode" attribute:
    "In ActiveX print mode, an ActiveX control is downloaded to the client machine and the report is send directly to the printer...."
    The ActiveX alternative is a java applet that runs on the client and takes the pdf from the server and prints directly onto the clients through the commands that I used in the DOS command line:
    1)     AcroRd32.exe /p /h FILENAME
    where
    /p = print
    /h = hide window
    to print the report and
    2)     tkill AcroRd32
    to close Adobe Reader, because it doesn't end automatically after printing and the command  /h  is used just to minimize the process.
    I hope you can give me advice because I need to print directly on the client. Thank you
