I suggest that you run software update, after which you should have Safari 6.0.5 - then check Safari - Preferences - Privacy & see that 'Block cookies' is not set to Always.
Failing that - switch Safari extensions Off via Safari - Preferences - Extensions & test again

CryptUnprotectData Error using Facebook Plugin

I just reinstalled my computer using the final release of Lightroom 3.2. However since installing I’m getting a “There is something wrong in CryptUnprotectData” error message every time I attempt to use the Facebook plugin. I tried deleting the account and then reauthorizing it but I’m still getting the error?? And the “Authorize on Facebook” section of the Lightroom Publishing Manager just hangs when I try to Authorize my Account???

How do I disable the facebook plugins?

How do I uninstall the facebook plugins? I'm currently having problem loading pages because my office server blocks everything that it was not blocking before. The 'safe site' that I'm browsing indirectly prompting to facebook plugins which causing the server to block the website. I didn't install any facebook add ons or plugins as well.

Facebook plugin explosion - suggestions?

Any attempt to use the facebook plugin now gives me this:
I've reloaded, I've reauthorized, I've even looked to see if I can manually edit the settings (anybody know where they're stored?). I'm considering wiping the install and starting clean - the upgrade from 4 to 5 was a train wreck, and I'm wondering if stuff just plain broke en route. So...
Suggestions on what directory trees to wipe to get a clean install? Do I blow away all of
C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Adobe after I uninstall? Are there other dirs I can delete as well?
If you have a suggestion how to make the FB plugin work, I'm open to that too. Sadly all I get from the error log is

If I were you, I'd try Jeffrey Friedl's Facebook plugin.
1. It may not have the same problem (or any prohibitive problems).
2. If it does, he's likely to fix it within hours or days, instead of weeks or months...

Lightroom Facebook plugin fault

My Lightroom 4.4 Facebook plugin (version 4.4.0.891433) is giving a message "plugin enabled but has encountered a problem" can a download a replacement plugin and where from?

And where is this mythical temp folder?
I've installed and uninstalled a few times here and the Facebook and Flickr options don't show in the export dialog.
I can add pictures to the sets on the panel and then publish immediately but that's not what I want here....

@loader_path problem for photoshop plugin on Mac

Hi experts,
One of my photoshop plugin (a file format plugin) depends on Qt, so I add the libQtCore.4.dylib and libQtGui.4.dylib in the same folder of my binary in my bundle ( that is '/Contents/MacOS' ), and reference them as @loader_path in my plugin.
My plugin is a universal binary. it works all fine with the 64bit photosho , but the problem is in 32bit of photosho, when I click the 'About' to display my about dialog and then click open to open my file, photoshop said 'Out of RAM'. This problem doesn't happen if I click open first and then about.
I tried to put the Qt libraries in the /usr/local/bin, and referece them in my plugin with full path, (that is /usr/local/bin/libQt**), all things are all right, So I'm wordering if there is some problem with the plugin loading with the '@loader_path‘ reference.
Any help will appreciate.

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever release for Mac OSX 10.3.9 and earlier versions, but that may not work any better because some large websites are blocking those older browsers or dropping support for older browsers like IE6 & earlier, and Firefox 2 & earlier due to security issues.
Using Safari on those websites ''(not enough total users for websites to be concerned about)'', or installing a new version of MacOSX are two solutions; or getting a new computer.

Good morning to everyone. I think I exposed the main aspects of my question on the subject, so nobody will lose time if it's not really interested.
I'm experiencing a problem developing a plugin (using NPAPI for future portability), that requires the mouse dragged event with right mouse button. With Chrome I have no problem. With Safari everything is ok, when I press the left mouse button; but when I press the right button, the browser can't sense at all any other event, except the NPCocoaEventMouseDown event.
Is it a bug? Should I open a ticket?
Any clue?

Problems with NIK Plugins

Hi all,
a lot was said already about problems with using Nik plugins in PS5 64 bit mode, but I'm not getting closer to a final solution.
I have installed all latest NIK plugin updates without problems.
According to their website all of their plugins are running now in a 64 bit mode.
In CS4 I can open and work with all plugins, BUT ONLY after removing the 'Selective Tool' from the plugin folder.
When it is not removed, PS4 is crashing all the time immediately after opening.
In Dfine plugin I noticed that my pointer is always a bit flickering during processing.
In CS5 it is the same; if the Selective tool is in the Plugin folder, it won't opening.
After removing it, in 32 bit mode I can open and work with all installed plugins.
But in 64 bit mode I'm able to work only with Silver Efex and HDR Efex Pro, but as soon I open Dfine, Sharpener, Viveza or Color Efex CS5 is crashing immediately.
I'm running a Mac pro with plenty power, ram etc, all updated and cleaned up.
What is other people's latest experience regarding that issue?

here I like to give you an update on my experience with NIK Plugins.
After beeing unable to solve my NIK problems by myself and in the forum I was contacting NIK, and their respons email told me only the following:
"In case of experiencing problems with their plugins in 64 bit mode remove all Duplicate Ariel Fonts"
Since I read about that already earlier, that reason had been ruled out.
BUT I got the idea simply to remove all my Arial Fonts from my Library (to the Desktop), and surprisingly ALL NIK plugins now were functioning without bringing CS5 to crash at start-up.
Unfortunately over the last days, especially on working with big file size pictures (around 200 MB) and plenty layers, CS5 crashed again often after initializing of the plugins.
Than I read today the post from Grey Havens, who suggested to set the percentage of RAM what Photoshop should use to maximal 60%.
Since I do have 14 GB RAM available, I indeed reduced the settings from 85% to 65%.
2 of my 3 internal HD's are assigned as scratch disk, as recommended by Adobe.
Thanks Grey, as you described, all plugins are opening now very fast, and I just tried all applications with big files, many layers and CMYK files,
without having any crash so far anymore.
If this continues, than I dont have to use my CS4 or the CS5 in 32 bit mode anymore, which would make all easier for me.
Than it also doesn't matter that Photoshop has less RAM assigned, because in 64 bit mode the almost 9 GB RAM assigned is for me more than enough.
So what worked for me, might work also for other people with same problems:
---    I had to remove the 'Selective Tool' from all plugins in CS4 and in CS5
---    I had to remove all Arial Fonts from my Font Library
---    I set in Preferences Performance the 'Let Photoshop Use RAM' to 65% only

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

Problem loading Facebook in Safari

I'm having a problem with Facebook and Safari. I think it's a network related issue, but cant understand why it would be. Im at university halls connected via Ethernet.
The webpage misses out backgrounds, buttons and everything graphical on the facebook site, instead loading what looks like a very simplified HTML plain text version of Facebook with everything presented in a single list.
Can anyone help?

Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
          8.8.8.8
          8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
In Safari, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
Notes:
1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

Problem accessing Facebook (Safari and Chrome w/ 2 different Macs)

For over a week im having problems accessing facebook and netflix, the timeline does not seem to load properly and some links dont work, im having the same issue using the latest version of chrome and safari. im using two different macbook pros, and both have the same issue, a windows computer in the same network doesnt have those issues. my router is a apple extreme.

To do it:
System Preferences>Network, click on your WiFi connection on the left then click on the Advanced button, select the DNS tab. Under the panel DNS servers click on the '+' sign and insert the numbers 208.67.220.220 - click the '+' again and insert 208.67.222.222
Alternatively to the numbers listed you can use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Save the settings - hopefully it'll make a difference.
