Probably one of the famous "all in one" printers from HP (I have the 1350 PSC one). The problem is the driver is written using .NET, and is really crappy and makes certain assumptins about your computer configuration. Check to see if you have several conflicting versions of .NET framework installed.
Good luck (right now, I only use it as a standalone copy machine..)

  • HP Deskjet 1220c printer functions won't work in Leopard

Hello. I'm a first time forum user. My HP driver is 3.3.3 (latest from Software Update) and all I can do is print, no options are available. On HP's site they offer a driver from Nov. 2007, no version number listed but that sure seems outdated. Any idea how I can get the print functions working? Thank you.

I'm having the exact same problem. I know when I used the 1220c on my old G4 using panther you had a wide variety of functions including selecting paper types like photo, gloss, card stock etc. Can you access these options?

  • HP Deskjet 9300 Printer needs Windows 8.1 Printer Driver

    Hi,
I'd really like to install my  HP Deskjet 9300 Printer up to my new computer, but it's Window's 8.1 and I can't see any options for a compatible printer driver on the HP Website.  Any advice would be much appreciated ...

    Hi Tom.
Sorry to inform you, this printer is not supported in Windows 8 and cannot be used with the operating system.

You may try installing an alternative driver as available for Windows 7, however it is not officially supported and there are no gurantees for that to work on Windows 8:
Make sure that the USB cable is not connected to the product. If the USB cable is connected to the product, disconnect it.
From the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Devices and Printers. The Devices and Printers window opens.
Click Add a printer. The Add Printer window opens.
Click on 'The printer that I want isn't listed.
    Click Add a local printer.
    Click Use an existing port.
Click the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1 and then click Next.
Under Manufacturer in the Install the printer driver window, click HP.
Under Printers, select the HP Deskjet 1220c.
When the installation is complete, a message displays on the computer stating that the product was added successfully.
In the message window, click Finished.
Connect the USB cable to the product, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installed window opens.
Click Close () to close the window.
Right-click the HP Deskjet 1220c printer and then click Printer Properties. The Printer Properties window opens.
    Click the Ports tab.
Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4. if htere are several USB or DOT 4 ports select the one with the higherst number.
    Click OK and try printing.
    Hope that may work,

  • Problem with DeskJet 1220C

Hi there, I have one of the old HP DeskJet 1220C and I managed to connect to it via USB using a virtual port. The problem is that whenever I print doesn't matter what it is, the printer always prints out a paper with funny symbols and numbers. Please help me...

I have been able to fix the first problem. The problem was, that the safety switch for the top cover seems to have a defect, so it had to be manually reset. An explanation can be found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01065334&dlc=en&product=467982
Afterwards I found, that the printer was unable to grab paper from the paper tray because some of the mechanical parts (especially the rubber paper feed rollers) were stuck because it hadn't been used regullarly. I then disassembled the whole printer (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+HP+Deskjet+6840+Rubber+Paper+Feed+Rollers/22773) and was able to fix the problem and am now able to print a status page. I will call HP Support again and see whether the region reset will work now.

  • Cannot print with Deskjet 1220C - crashed Labview 8

Every time I try to print from Labview 8 to the Deskjet 1220C over the network, Labview 8 simply crashes.  I have done a complete software and drive removal of the Deskjet 1220C and put in the latest driver - same problem.  I have tried increasing the margins to 1.0" with no change.  I have no trouble printing to a LaserJet 4P but, of course, there is no color.
I'm trying to print only the Block Diagram.
    Any suggestions.

The driver was naturally the first thing I replaced.  I did remove all video drivers and reinstall the latest Nvidia FX50 driver but that did not help either.
In the end, my workaround was to print to PDF using Bluebeam Revu and then print  to the 1220C using Adobe Acrobat Reader. (I also have issues with the 1220C printing from Bluebeam Revu.)  There doesn't seem to be any way to get at the PCL language settings or other tweakable items.
I was able to print from Labview 8 to the HP 1220C on another computer.  I had trouble with it only printing part of the pages until I changed the way the paging file was handled.  I had set high and low limits for the file size.  Although generous, they were apparently not generous enough.
After setting to "no paging file", rebooting, setting to "system managed size" and rebooting again, I was able to get the full file to print properly on this second computer.

  • G3 Pismo Powerbook and HP Deskjet 3325 Printing Problems

The problem is that the Deskjet fails altogether to print sometimes. The error message tells me to allocate more memory to the printer. I do so but this does not help at all. I have 128Mb virtual memory turned on in addition to the built-in RAM of 128Mb.
Might the problem simply be lack of RAM? There does seem to be plenty of memory available if I look at ‘About this Computer’
In order to try and solve this problem, I have updated
    OS 9.1 to 9.2.1 to 9.2.2 successfully
downloaded and installed the latest printer driver v.6.4 from the HP download site
I now have two options, among others, in the left-hand window of the Chooser:
The old printer driver called something like Deskjet 5.3 and the new printer driver called Inkjet 6.4
If I select the former, which is what I always did in the past, the Deskjet 3325 printer appears in the right-hand window of Chooser, I select it (with AppleTalk inactive) and then the document sometimes, but sometimes not, prints OK.
If on the other hand, I select the Inkjet 6.4 driver in the left-hand window, no printer at all appears in the right-hand window. If I just continue from here and give the print command inside, for example a Word document, the print dialogue appears, I click on print, but am then told that I have selected a model called HP 6670, which is the wrong model of printer, and must therefore select the right model. The Inkjet Printer Utility does not offer me the option of selecting the right model viz the 3325, or indeed any model.
It may or may not be relevant, but I have Word 5.1 and Word 98 on the G3. Printing problems seem to occur far more with Word 98 than Word 5.1.
I would be most grateful for any help. Thanks.

Well. I'll answer my own question in case anyone is interested.
    Uninstall the HP printer drivers.
To do this, delete all references to HP in the Extensions, Disabled Extensions, Preferences and Startup folders, all of them in the System folder, by selecting them, dragging them to the Trash and emptying the Trash.
Then do the same with all references to HP items in the Applications folder.
Download and reinstall the most-up-to-date printer driver avaialble for your printer from the HP website.

  • Problems connecting DeskJet 2542 printer to my laptop computer

I recently bought an HP DeskJet 2542 printer to replace my broken one.
Everything went well on the installation up to the point where I attempt to connect my printer to my laptop, which has been frustratenly unsuccessful.
I have tried both wirelessly through the network and wired through a USB connection, but neither work.
Upon further investigation, I find that the 2540 series software driver for the connection between PC and printer isn't even installing, despite several attempts.
I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled the entire printer software, but even when it says that the installation is completed, it still fails to connect the printer to my computer.
Furthermore....I recently discovered that my laptop printer connection runs through Windows' "WSD Print Device", which has been prompting me via Windows Update for a software update....but everytime I run it, it fails due to a "300073EB" error.
My laptop is an Dell Inspiron N5040 running Windows 7 - 64 bit. Only changes I have made is to double the RAM memory from 4 GB to 8 GB by adding an additional memory chip.
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I simply return the printer back.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Well....I am happy to report that I have finally got my printer installed correctly, and it is working properly.
It turns out that the problem was a corrupted register key in the Registry folders where my printer drivers are stored was blocking the installation. I had to delete all the register keys in the folder where they were stored, then rename the folder in my spool folder where the relevant driver files were stored to "deactivate" it.
For those interested: here are the relevant steps I took:
    1) Obvously, back up your registry first just in case.
    2) Temporarily disable the Print Spooler service through the Services tool in Adminstrative Tools (click on the "Stop" button after right-clicking on the Print Spooler listing, then clicking "Properties".)
     3) Open Registry Editor (by typing "regedit" on  your Start searchbar), then right-clicking on "regedit.exe" to log in as Administrator.
    4) Using the left side nested folder directory, scroll down to this folder in the Registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3
(For 32-bit Win 7 machines, replace "Windows x64" with "Windows NT x86".)
Look for the subfolder underneath where the corrupted driver is located (in my case, "HP Deskjet 2540 series") and right-click and delete it. (Note: you could also do the same to all the other driver folders listed there, but you would still have to reinstall the services after you reboot. That's why you need that backup.)
    5) Next, get out of the Registry Editor and, using Windows Explorer: locate this folder in your root (C:\) directory:
    C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3
(This assumes you're using Win 7-64 bit; for 32 bit, replace "x64" with "W32X86".)
Rename the folder marked as "3" to "3.old".
    6) Now, go back and restart the Print Spooler by using the same procedure as 1), except clicking on the "Start" button. (If your Print Spooler is set on "Automatic", though, you could skip that process, since rebooting will restart it automatically.)
    7) Finally, reboot, and reinstall your printer software either using the attached CD or directly from the HP website.
It may simply be that an earlier install of a previous printer corrupted the keys enough that it was blocking the installation.
Justice and resolution may grind slow, but with a little investigation, it ultimately does grind. Thanks for your help....and you may consider this to be "SOLVED".

  • Deskjet 1220c problem(s)

I'm not very technical when it comes to these things so please be patient with me.  I've recently borrowed a Deskjet 1220c from a friend and I've downloaded the driver and have attached the power cord and the USB cable between my laptop and the printer.  I've also loaded the paper (I think).  I have no User's Manual.
There are three lights present on the front of the printer and two of them are on.  The middle one (yellow) and the right-hand one (green).  The green one is obviously the on/off switch but pressing it doesn't turn it off which makes no sense to me at all.
And I can't get the printer to print.  I'm sure the cartridges are years out of date but I can't access them because they are in a stationary position on the far right-hand side.  I would expect them to center so I can change them - but that just ain't happening!
Any suggestions other than going out an buying another printer?

    Hello Gardener50.
I understand you are unable to print photos using your Deskjet 1220C. What size photos are you trying to print?
Please follow this HP document on Printing on Special Media. This document gives you step-by-step information on how to print photos by changing the settings within the program you are printing from. Also, this gives you tips on the supported paper sizes.

i try to fix this problem. but when i checked the printer, there's no paper jam...i found out that my cartidge wasn't moving..can you give me idea how to fix this?..thanks in advance.. ^_^

Does this occur with every line printed or only on the last line of the page?
If you change the print quality to "best"  does that clear up the issue?
If the answer to either is "yes" then try cleaning the cartrdige contacts as shown here.

After checking around some more (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2555552), it looks like the problem may be in my Carbon Printing Manager, and the only solution may be to archive and uninstall. Is there any way to get around this?

The page here may help with the paper feed issues.  Also open the lid with the power on and make sure the carriage moves to the "smiley face" position, look at the icons on the upper back portion of the printer as shown here.

  • HP DeskJet 3510 Printer Alignment Page Doesn't print correctly.

Hi I have a strange problem with my HP DeskJet 3510. I took it out of the box installed everything loaded up paper and powered it on. It went through all the motions and blah blah and printed out an alignment page. Anyhow it didn't look right to me but I went ahead and scanned it anyway and it then said "ink cartidges are set to default color quality" or something to the effect. I hit ok and it went to the main menu.
Now from my wifes phone I can connect to the printer and print just fine but from our laptop the alignment is all jacked up. If I type a bunch of random lines into notepad or anything really it misses a bunch of lines and some lines just don't even appear. Which I could only think would be because the alignment page isn't right.
Also from app that gets installed from the software CD on the laptop I can choose to align the cartridges but when I do and it prints and I scan the page (that still looks jacked up to me) the software tells me the alignment failed and asks me to rescan after I put the page in there right. I know the page is in there right its face down and in the bottom right hand corner as it should be.
Now I have ran the cartdridge cleaning process several times took the cartridges out and looked for debris or anything that could be in the way even though I doubt its any of those things becuase like I had said earlier it prings perfectly from my wifes printershare app from her smart phone. Just as it appears on her screen. Only getting this issue from the PC.
Anyhow I am going to attach a photo of how the priner aligment page comes out from me doing it on the printers control panel and from the PC's software both it comes out looking like this. If you could please give me some advice to what to do next that would be great as I am out of ideas. Did I just get a bad cartridge? If so why would it print from my wifes phone fine and not from the PC? Is this how the alignment page should look (can't read any of the things on the lower portion really).
Other Info : PC is running Windows . Other PC has same problem running Windows XP. Wifes Phone is using PrinterShare app. Any information or helpful advice is appreciated thank you guys in advance.

Finally, after installing and uninstalling the print cartridges on my HP-3510 around 10 times; I finally got the alignment page to print and then scan successfully. It's a nice, very economical printer when it works properly. I was on the verge of tossing it but glad I didn't. I guess the lesson is that persistence can pay off. My thanks to the other two contributing posters.
