Firefox 35.0.1
Yosemite 10.10.2

processor : 4 GHz Intel Core i7
graphics : AMD Radeon R9 M290X 2048 MB
memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Magic Mouse
Computer , Mouse & Keyboard i purchased just over a month ago on Jan 12th
in Firefox .....i click on the NEWS folder i created in my bookmarks  tool bar
a window opens with a list of sub folders
i click on one of them, Alternative Views
and another window appears with a long list of bookmarked website links
now when i bring my cursor over to to that list
and try to select a link ,
the window disappears
and the very first window NEWS appears instead
so i can never select a bookmarked link
if i do the very same thing on my 13" macbook air running the same version of Firefox and Yosemite
and use its trackpad
i do not have the problem
dose any one have an idea for a  fix for this ?

Did you following these procedures to export IE Favorites to your desktop (or in another folder):
To export your IE Favorites to a file
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Go to "File > Import and Export...", then click Next.
3. Select "Export Favorites", click Next, click Next again
4. Click "Export to a File or Address", click "Browse" to choose a location such as the desktop (or accept the default location) and save the file, which is named "bookmark.htm" by default.
5. Click Next, then Finish to complete the export.
Then import the html file into Firefox. It should show the actual bookmarks, not the IE Favorites folder.

• I'm having problems opening various windows in Firefox. Eg. Downloads, View Source, History etc.

For quite some time I have been having some issues with Firefox 5.0.1.
I have been through all of the troubleshooting I can find but cannot fix the problem.
Most of the features that require a window to be opened in Firefox do not work. Eg. Downloads, View Source, History. I cannot see the windows.

I tried the localstore.rdf replacement from another machine running the same version of Firefox. Still didn't fix the issue.
I noticed on the machine that I was having the issue with there was a file present called localstore-safe.rdf, this file was not present on the machine where Firefox was functioning normally. I removed localstore-safe.rdf (made a copy of the profiles folder first) and it works.

setup problem, windows xp, firefox upgrade to 4 and asked to reboot but did not progress. keeps asking to restart even if I try to remove

Hi marsano,
Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
* Right-click the icon and choose Run as Administrator
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
# Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the Mozilla download page and save the file to the desktop.
# Uninstall your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
# Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
Hopefully this helps!

• I just updated to 4.0.1 and I get the "We're sorry. Firefox had a problem and crashed. We will try to open your tabs/windows when Firefox restarts" However, it just keeps popping back up, firefox never restarts!!!

This morning I had a popup on my Windows XP PC stating that the 4.0.1 update was available. I upgraded. now, i receive the following error: We're sorry. Firefox had a problem and crashed. We will try to open your tabs/windows when Firefox restarts. You can submit crash report data, blah blah blah (which i have submitted several)
But, firefox DOES NOT ever open. It just pops back up with that same report window, over and over.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder
Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder
* Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

• After Yosemite Firefox does not open a window

After Installation of Yosemite I can't use Firefox anymore. It doesn't open any window, also on the menu bar only the "Firefox" menu appears. Already tried to remove and re-install, no change. Any ideas?

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

• Attempting to INSTALL Flash Player 17, on WIndows 7, Firefox 36.0.1-why did I never used to have a problem?

I am using Windows 7, Firefox 36.0.1, and attempting to INSTALL Flash Player 17. I never had problems until about a year ago, the way the installation & set up was so easy...now, I fight with it for days every month when a new update is ready. There used to be 2-3 easy steps to follow; now I click to download, watch the diagram until it finishes, find the icon on my desktop, and click it again (presumbly to download & install), and it disappears. I do not know where or how to see it; a few minutes later I go to my Firefox Plug in Check page...and it shows that it still is not update! So I go through the whole friggan process again...WHY????

Hello,
Please do the following:
Download the uninstaller, Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
Download the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page in the 'Still having problems' section
Run the uninstaller
Reboot your system
Run the installer
After installation completes, go to Flash Player Help and click on the 'Check Now' button.  The results should indicate that you have the latest version, 17.0.0.134, installed.

• My Option window in Firefox displays only partly. I can't change the download folder. 'Browse' is not showing. And the Advanced tab is not showing either

The Option Window in Firefox is incomplete. It only shows
General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Privacy, Security, Sync
The Advanced Tab is not showing and the Browse button to change download location is missing also.

If you are using an add-on theme switch to the default theme. If that isn't the source of your problem ....
Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons. <br />
# You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
# Or use the Help menu item, click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled... while Firefox is running. <br />
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

Hi All, I have question about the iMac operating system. I have the last updated. The problem when I manage the place of the folder windows they are all mixing up. I mean they not on the place where I left them. how to set they stay on the same place? I know there are different possibilities to set.
I tried but it not helped for me. What I can do? How and where can set this they stay on their place?
Thanks.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Regards
TD

• Problem with opening page in new window in firefox 5

When I open a page in a new window in firefox 5, it doesn't copy the URL into the address bar (it is blank), so I can't refresh the page. The address bar of the new window is blank, with default 'Go to a web site' text in it.

• Cannot open more than one window with Firefox

I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks, now, and I've run out of ways to try and fix this.
One day, after starting my computer up, I opened Firefox. No big deal, everything looks fine, tabs are working, etc. Then, when I went to open a second window, nothing. The first window still works fine, I can open tab upon tab, but it just won't open any more windows.
As much as I'm a fan of the browser tabs, I still prefer to have them spread out over more than one window.
I've read through a ton of different troubleshooting walkthroughs and whatnot, reinstalled three or four times, restored settings, but nothing works.
Well, not entirely, I guess. Here's the part that I can't quite figure out. When I disable every single addon, Firefox works just fine. I've done the checking down the list, trying to single one out, but it's *any* addon. Even something as simple as a dictionary search () causes this to happen.
I've checked with an older computer with an older version of Firefox, and it still seems to work fine with addons enabled, so I'm wondering if this is an update issue?
Would reverting back to a previous version of Firefox solve this, and if so, where would I be able to find downloads for a previous version?
So, like I said, I'm at a bit of a loss here. Sort of at a crossroads for trying to figure out what to try next, so I'm hoping someone a bit more knowledgeable can help steer me in a direction.
Edit: I just noticed that the posting includes system information with my question. I should clarify that I'm posting this from an older computer with an older version of Firefox. On the computer that I'm having this issue with, I'm using the newest version of Firefox (3.6.8).

Some old posts indicate the following add-ons have caused the problem of not being able to open a new window in Firefox in the past. If you have any of them you might want to disable or uninstall them to see if that is causing your problem.<br />

You need to update your plug-ins. It is important to keep them updated due to continuing security fixes and improvements in those plug-ins:
* Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.5 (you <u>may</u> need to update)
* Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

You are using an out-of-date version of Firefox. Unless you have a reason for using that old version, you might want to consider upgrading.
*The Firefox version series 3.0.x is no longer being supported or updated, even for security issues.
*The last version in the 3.0.x series was 3.0.19 which was released 03/15/2010.
*You are using version 3.0.13 which was released 07/31/2009.
Consider upgrading to the current version, Firefox 3.6.8. Firefox 3.6.9 is scheduled to be released in a few days and the new Firefox 4 will be released later this year or early next year.

• [SOLVED] dual-screen problem with awesome3.2 and firefox/gedit

Hi,
my problem is that firefox/gedit (+maybe other apps, i don't know yet) are starting in awesome like they are fullscreen apps. Firefox covers the wibox at the top of the screen, and even overlaps a bit to the seconds screen. So the keyboard-shortcuts doenst work well, because awesome then changes the tags in bots screens when on one tag firefox is opened.
I dont know why this happens, here is my rc.lua:

Still the same
Edit: i deleted my ~/.mozilla folder. Now firefox starts not overlapping with the wibox, but still a bit overlapping to the other screen, so hat my keystrokes toggle both screens. it seems that it start in floating mode, because i can move it with the mouse. When i move it a bit towarts the wibox and a bit right, it seems to get stuck in the chosen tile-layout and everything is fine... until i quit firefox and start it again.
Edit2: Hmmm, ok, i think i found it... or at least something:
-- New floating windows don't cover the wibox and don't overlap until it's unavoidable
        --awful.placement.no_offscreen(c)  //THIS was first uncommented
        awful.placement.no_overlap(c)  //THIS was first commented
So now with no_overlap it seems to work finde (although i cannot move gedit between the screens with the mouse, but i dont know if this isn't normal. Firefox is moveable between the screens.), no overlapping anymore with the wibox or to the other screen.
When i uncomment both lines, firefox and gedit are starting both on the 2nd screen (the left one), and gedit cannot be moved to the right one (although firefox can be moved.).

• Can I set folder window appearance for a DVD-ROM I'm creating?

Hi!
I'm making a DVD-ROM project that my organizaion is going to have duplicated. I'd like the main folder window to have the same appearance (always open in icon view, have a specific background image, sort-by-name, etc.). Is there a way to set this so it will be stored with the folders? Would this have something to do with the .DS_Store file?
A NOTE: This is gong to be a PC+Mac disc, so the file system won't be HFS+. It's a DVD-ROM of an audio series using a web-based interface. I am running Snow Leopard on my desktop and Lion on my laptop. Not sure if any of these details help.
Thanks.

Hello,
Firefox on Windows is now following display scaling options which may render text larger on high resolution displays.
You can adjust your screen resolution.
To modify it do the following:
* Type about:config into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
* If the warning This might void your warranty appears, click I'll be careful, I promise.
* Search for layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

* Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to 1.0 to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.
If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. Double check the value that you enter. Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.
If web pages still need to be adjusted then you can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension.
To adjust the font size for the user interface, you can use the Theme Font & Size Changer extension.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

• While using Windows live firefox freezes then has to close alot!

While in the middle of writing emails, moving from inbox to writing, in general any navigating in Windows live, the windows freez and "Firefox must close" appears. Moving between web pages while windows live is open causes this alot. Moving thru pages with msn as home seems to cause too many freezes. Happens on 2 diferent laptops.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:<br>
<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.

• Problems Navigating this Discussion Website

Using either Safari or Firefox I have big problems navigating this site. I can log in OK but it keeps hanging. With Firefox I sometimes get the message box 'This document contains no data'. With Safari I get 'Safari can't open the page "http:/discussions.apple.com/post!post.jspa". The error was: "lost network connection" (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message'. Also it seems to navigate a bit better if I don't log in and use the site as a guest. Could it be something with my account? I've had great difficulties posting this query, also when changing my settings. It's like the address bar doesn't colour over past the http part when I click. No problems with other sites - I have phoned Apple and they can navigate round it OK. I've tried clearing the cache and cookies which improves it slightly but only for a short time. It has taken me days to submit this and I'm finally doing it from a Windows PC with Internet Explorer. Maybe I need to delete my account and start a new one? Please can anyone help?

This site is frequently slow, sometimes incredibly so. I can only hope that sometime soon, Apple will finish their tinkering (actually, I don't know what was wrong with the previous iteration, it seemed fine to me), restore levels and mark the page construction "solved"!

• Why doesn't the downloads window in firefox 3.6.25 display all downloads?

whenever i download a web page or attachment, the downloads window in firefox 3.6.25 remains blank.
the tools' options are set to "show the downloads window when downloading a file." the only other option checked is "save files to" but the browse button doesn't display the downloads window. i've created a downloads folder on my desktop, but i would prefer having the downloads window display all downloads automatically. please advise. thanks.

Do you have "Remember download history" checked in Firefox button > Options > Options (OR Tools > Options) > Privacy ?
*Click this link --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Privacy%20panel
Also, do not clear download history when using Clear Recent History or when automatically clearing history when closing Firefox.
*Click this link --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History
If using third-party applications, like CCleaner, be sure that your Firefox options are set to not clear Firefox download history.
