new hardware may not work"
Its driving me MAD!! I have managed to load and use my iPod successfully on my other PC, but have had no joy with my new laptop.
I have installed iTunes, and updated to the most up to date version.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, but each time when I connect the iPod to the laptop it the Installation Wizard flashes up for a split second and then comes up with the message "a problem has occured during hardware installation. Your new hardware may not work properly"
Any ideas?

perhaps let's try disabling the high speed interfaces on the laptop's USB connections. although the following document is on Toshibas, try the technique from it on your Dell:
iPod not recognized correctly on Toshiba laptop
(don't do a restore at this stage. we're just checking to see if we can get a connection with the high-speed interfaces disabled.)

[HELP]Problem occured during XP Installation
Hi, I was downgrading my W500 from Vista Bus to XP Pro, using the Rescure and Recovery Disc. I was following the instruction that came with the discs. At the end of the first phase of conversion process, where it asks to remove the disc, I removed it, and clicked OK, and then this error message showed up...I should've got down the whole message, but now I only remember it's about some "C++ program failure", and among the three options(Abort, Retry, Cancel*not sure about this one) I chose Retry, and ever since then the screen has stayed at the "Lenovo Rescue and Recovery 4" Welcome page. I don't know what to do now....if I turn it off and turn it back on what'll happen? I mean the XP conversion process was half way.....
Just use those discs to reinitiate the installation process, it will basically repeat the process from the start. Don't worry it won't damage your machine.

Hi, I already have a 1st generation Ipod Nano which works fine. Just purchased a new 2nd generation Ipod Nano for my daughter and when connected to USB, get a message saying "A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly". Had this problem before so returned the Ipod and Apple sent a new one out to me. Still the same problem. Does anyone know the answer?

I followed the Apple instructions to completely uninstall earlier iTunes and all Apple applications and then tried to re-install iTunes 10.5. Numerous attempts. Still no success. Constantly goes through the install and then rolls back after failure.
By unzipping using WinRAR and installing each module separately it seems that the module that fails is the AppleApplicationSupport.msi
Finally I uninstalled everything again and reinstalled iTunes 10.4.1. This installed perfectly. So at least I still have iTunes.
I was able to install iTunes 10.5 on myWindows XP SP3 desktop.
I noticed with WinRAR that the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file with 10.5 is a completely different size to that with 10.4.1. This suggests to me a conflict between the latest AppleApplicationSupport.msi and Windows 7. -

OK. If both of you are Windows 7. Make sure you go to Windows update (START button, type in Windows Update). Check for updates and update whatever that are available. (especially Microsoft .NET Framework 4 )
After that see if you still get this error message.
The last resort would be to unistall and reinstall the whole thing.
Follow the steps below:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Ok I cant find a way to fix this so I basically cant use my Verizon Iphone 4 because it wont connect on an old version...OK. You may have to reinstall everything from scratch but follow following steps:

It seems to be a problem with my windows installation. I will re-install at a later date since installing PDF viewing programs the only issue.
Problem:
While installing Adobe Reader XI using the install_reader11_en_mssd_aaa_aih.exe from Adobe Reader Install for all versions and AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi from a forum post on here. Error 1935 occurs using both installers and causes the setup to fail and initiate rollback.

In Programs & Features list there is no adobe reader as you can see:

1. I have cleared the transaction log using command prompt with the following command:
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
Restarting the computer and trying to install Adobe Reader 11 results in the same error.
2. Restarting the computer, disabling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and installing Adobe Reader 11 results in the same error.
3. Chrome has "allow all sites to run JavaScript" checked.

I have attempted to install an earlier version (10.1.4) of Adobe Reader - Same error occurs.

I'm going to look for some alternatives for the mean time

These alternative programs are failing to install as well. Multiple errors, I now assume the issue is with my windows installation.Hi Kanker ,
