Problem of applet

I am trying to call javascript method in java(in my applet)
here i wrote the jsp page and i used
<jsp:plugin> tag for applet. This is working fine with IE6.0 and Netscape4.6. but with the latest version of Netscape(6.2) i am getting the following exception
netscape.javascript.JSException: JSObject.getWindow() requires mayscript attribute on this Applet at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Native Method) at sun.plugin.liveconnect.PrivilegedConstructObjectAction.run(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)     at sun.plugin.liveconnect.SecureInvocation.ConstructObject(Unknown Source)
I am adding my applet code and jsp code.
In my applet there is button, by clicking the button it will calls the javascript method and closes the browser window.
Applet class:
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import netscape.javascript.JSObject;
import netscape.javascript.*;
import javax.swing.colorchooser.AbstractColorChooserPanel;
public class JSoTest extends JApplet implements ActionListener
JButton btn;
JPanel p1;
     Color clr;
public JSoTest()
init();
public void init()
btn=new JButton("Close");
          btn.addActionListener(this);
          clr=Color.green;
p1=new JPanel();
this.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout());
getContentPane().add(p1,"Center");
getContentPane().add(btn,"South");
          p1.setBackground(clr);
     public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
try{
JSObject obj=JSObject.getWindow(this);
obj.call("close",null);
catch(Exception ex)
ex.printStackTrace();
jsp page:
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body >
<jsp:plugin type="applet" code="JSoTest.class" codebase="/examples/jsp/plugin/applet/"
     jreversion="1.3"
     iepluginurl="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3/plugin-install.html"
     nspluginurl="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3/plugin-install.html"
     width="200" height="150" name="Fractal">
<jsp:params>
     <jsp:param name="MAYSCRIPT" value="true" />
</jsp:params>
<jsp:fallback>
     <p>Unable to load java plugin</p>
</jsp:fallback>
</jsp:plugin>
</body>
</html>
If i write the html file instead of jsp file it is working fine.

Try to use the following code to display the applet in the jsp, this is an example that I used in my intranet:

Actually first I made a html page with the applet-code and after that I used HTML Converter to place in the code like you see above.

  • Caching problem in Applets - Java Control Panel

    I have a problem of applets being cached in Java Control Panel. Is there a way in Java to stop caching applets programatically in the Java Control Panel.
    There is one way to stop caching files by unchecking "Keep Temporary Files on my Computer" under Java Control Panel --> General --> Settings page.
    But I want to do this programatically using some Java programming/Java Scripting/some parameter in applet tag.
    Some solutions like setting cache_option = No, cache_archive= jar file name in PARAM tag in applet and classloader_cache="false" have been already tried. But noting is seeming to be working out.
    Can somebody please provide a solution.

  • Problem calling applet method using IE

    I've searched through the forum and can't seem to find anything that can help me fix this. I'm trying to call an applet's method using Javascript. This is working fine under Netscape, but not IE. Everything I've read seems to indicate that I'm doing this right, but I'm getting "Object doesn't support this property or method" when I try to call the applet method from IE.
    In this example method, I'm trying to call the applet's countChars method, which should return the length of the string you pass into it. Works under Netscape 6.2, but not IE 6.0
    Here's my applet code:
    import java.lang.String;
    public class test extends java.applet.Applet {
    public static int countChars(String s) {
    return s.length();
    And my HTML

    /*     i = document.forms.myForm.TestApplet.countChars();

         document.forms.myForm.output.value=document.applets["TestApplet"].countChars(document.forms.myForm.input.value);

    I have very similar problem, my applet works OK using Netscape (6.2 and 7.0), but with IE 6.0 It only works with windows XP;
    The reported error is "Object doesn't support this property or method"
    Can someone please help me to solve this problem.

  • Problem downloading applet in W2K with SP4.

    Hi,
    We are using a Security Applet in our web application for validation purposes. We were using W2K Professional / W2K Server with SP3 and Sun JRE 1.3.x. The application was working as expected.
    We are now testing with W2K Server with SP4 (to upgrade to SP4). The current testing environment is W2K Server with SP4 and Sun JRE1.3.x. Now with the setup, we are facing a problem in downloading the applet (Security Applet). The downloading applet fails and the subsequent loading as well.
    Please advice. Does it requires any particular settings to be done at Client?
    The specs are
    Windows 2000 Server, SP4
    IE 6 SP1
    Sun Jre 1.3.x
    Problem:Downloading applet fails.
    PS: When we test with SP3, we can see the applet downloaded (CAB File), with SP4 it was not found.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Prakash

    Does the w2k sp4 server host your pages and applet?
    If yes then why install the SUN JRE 1.3 on the server, doesn't the client need this?
    Is the cab format supported by SUN jre or is it meant for msjvm and if so why is the client trying to open
    the cab with sun jre?
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/upgrade-guide/article-02.html
    What's on the server doesn't have anything to do with the applet. The server is
    just serving it. Forcing the client/consumer of the html page with the applet is trying to open an applet
    with sun jre while the applet is ment for msjvm causes the error.
    The client can fix this by opening IE and check under tools -> internet options -> advanced -> UNCHECK
    the use sun jre ... for <applet tag. For the XP machine you might have a problem. Some of the don't have
    the msjvm at all so there is nothing to run the <applet, I tried to download it at microsoft but was unable
    to find it.

  • Severe Problem in Applets

    I hav problem in Applets by use of threads.The prb. is that i am supposed to create three threads in applets.Thread one will read a file and extract a character array of size 10 from it and Thread 2 will display those characters in Textarea of Applets and after 10 seconds Thread3 will delete those chracters from textarea and next character set of Array of size 10 from Thread one will be assigned to Thread2 and process should go on untill it reads all character from file.Please sort this problem with source code.All are warmly welcome.
    Anuj.

    Thread one will read a file Since applets cannot read from the filesystem you have to use the URL object to read the file and place the
    file in the same location as your applet:
              try {
                   url = new URL(this.getCodeBase(), "yourfile.txt");
                   URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
                   InputStream in = conn.getInputStream();
                   ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                   byte[] buf = new byte[1024];
                   int len;
                   while ((len = in.read(buf)) > 0) {
                        bos.write(buf, 0, len);
                   byte[] data = bos.toByteArray();
    //               String dataString = new String(data,"Shift_JIS"); // depending on your file encoding
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace(System.out);

  • Problem in Applet while communicating with Javascript

    Hi,
    I’m facing a problem with applet. Applet calls JavaScript methods and vice versa. Applet works fine with JRE 5 to JRE 6 up to build no 1.6.0._7 but it fails with build no 1.6.0_10.
    The problem description is given below:
    After embedding applet in my HTML page using <OBJECT> tag, I’ve to check either any problem during applet’s execution, I want to get the error reason by calling my defined method getErrorReason() in applet that returns the error reason, I call the getErrorReason() against the applet’s object in JavaScript immediately after embed applet code in my HTML page, a JavaScript errors occurs and my applet fails to perform its execution.
    JavaScript error: Object does not support this property.
    The error points to the HTML page area where I’m calling getErrorReason() against applet object.
    The above JavaScript error occurs after the successful completion of Applet’s init(). I’m facing this problem only in JRE 6 build 1.6.0_10-b33.
    Please suggest me any solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Israr Ahmed

    Hi Bharath,
    Even i got similar error and i tried deleting the below(Attaching the stack trace is always better way.)
    1) delete the folder ‘workspace’ or rename(including all files and subfolders) in the path D:\Documents and Settings\lzcr8r\Documents\SAP\workspace
    2) delete all .dtr/.dtc/.metadata directories in your personal folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\lzcr8r).
    Restart the IDE once you are done with the above steps.
    Second part to increase the virtual mem
    1) RtClick on the Shortcut of NWDS -->Properties and in the Target put the below
    "C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\SapIde.exe" -vmargs -Xms512m -Xmx1536m  "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08\bin\javaw.exe"
    2) You can also try  Creating a bat file with the complete path of your IDE and start your ide from the bat
       content in the bat eg: "C:\Program Files\netbeans-4.1\bin\netbeans.exe" -vmargs -Xms512m -Xmx1536m
    Here -Xms512m is the min JVM size and -Xmx1024m is the max JVM size.
    You can place this batch file anywhere and double click the batch file.
    It will automatically start your IDE
    3) if you are using Tomcat you can try creating an env variable and assign Value
    Variable Name:  CATALINA_OPTS
    Variable Value:  -server -Xmx800m
    please award points if usefull.

  • Problem with applet, popup window and focus loss

    Hi all !
    I've got a problem when my applet lose the focus. Let me explain :
    I've got an applet embed in a jsp page. There are several buttons in it that allow the user to open modal windows.
    The problem comes when the user gives the focus to another application whithout closing the modal window first.
    When he tries to come back to the web page owning the applet (using the task bar), then the modal window stays behind it and blocks any action on the applet.
    Does anyone know how to force the modal window to be displayed in front of the applet, even when the user plays with focuses ?
    Thank's in advance.

    thank you for your help, sils.
    I've written that code :
    * Cr le 31 aot 05
    package com.scor.apricot.web.rpc.ltnp.applet.listener.ldf;
    import java.awt.event.WindowAdapter;
    import java.awt.event.WindowEvent;
    import javax.swing.JDialog;
    import javax.swing.JPanel;
    public class AppletWindowListener extends WindowAdapter {
         private JPanel panel;
         private JDialog dialogWindow;
         public AppletWindowListener(JPanel panel, JDialog dialogWindow) {
              this.panel = panel;
              this.dialogWindow = dialogWindow;
         public void windowActivated(WindowEvent e) {
              if (dialogWindow!=null && dialogWindow.isShowing())
                   dialogWindow.toFront();
    }Is that right ?
    I don't know how to add the listener, where must I put the addWindowListener method ? It seems that this method cannot be used with a JApplet object.

  • Problem with Applet for Microsoft VM

    Hi there!
    I implemented an applet (first for SUN JVM 1.4.1_02) that has to communicate with a servlet via serialized objects. Therefore the applet sends a request and expects the response :
    //establish connection
    URLConnection l_con= l_url.openConnection();
    l_con.setUseCaches(false);
    l_con.setDoOutput(true);
    l_con.setDoInput(true);
    l_con.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/x-java-serialized-object");
    //send request to servlet
    ObjectOutputStream l_outputStream = new ObjectOutputStream(l_con.getOutputStream());
    l_outputStream.writeObject(l_obj);
    l_outputStream.flush();
    l_outputStream.close();
    //get response
    ObjectInputStream l_obInStr = new ObjectInputStream(l_con.getInputStream());
    l_response = (MyResponseClass)l_obInStr.readObject();
    l_obInStr.close();This works absolutely fine for the Sun VM. Now I have to use the Microsoft VM (because I don't want the users to install anything on their clients).
    I compiled the client classes like that:
    javac -target 1.1 classname.javaThe applet starts correctly but there is a problem with the communication that I recognized in the console:
    java.io.IOException: Cannot write output after reading input.
         at com/ms/net/wininet/http/HttpURLConnection.getOutputStream (HttpURLConnection.java)
         at myclass/MyApplet.callToServlet (MyApplet.java:109)
    Does anyone know what this error means ?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi there!
    I solved my problem by removing all the System.out.println-statements that I used for debugging issues.
    Anyway, I want to know if there are more restrictions concerning this matter for using the Microsoft VM instead of the Sun VM. (Because it HAS worked with the debugging statements with the Sun VM).
    Thank you.

  • Problem when applet going to load local machine jar files

    hi all,
    I have an applet that contains a 'core' module(jar) and 'core dependency' modules(jars).To reduce the applet download time i decided to load some heavy weight and lesser use 'core dependency' jars from local machine and core jar module and other low weight and highly use 'core dependency' jar modules from applet archives. I use the same class loader that used to load the applet archives for load local machine 'core dependency' modules.
    eg- this.getClass().getClassLoader().loadClass("class")
    When applet starts, Local machine 'core dependency' jar modules start loading but it couldn’t find classes in the core module (that download from archives) and stop the loading applet . But when i run that applet using IDE it is work fine. Please someone help me to solve this problem.

  • Problem loading Applets from Jar files on 64 bit machine

    I am developing an applet (extends Applet but uses swing components) using JDK 1.6 (Though these problems still happen in JDK 1.7) and I am unable to get the applet to load on a 64 bit machine in most cases. The web server(s) are running on localhost and I am connecting on the same machine using a local network ip address (such as 192.168.*.*)
    Below are all of my test results. Can someone provide a suggestion for repairing this? The Windows Server machine is a clients computer I access to it via remote desktop but I can't do much with it though I do have administrator rights. The Windows 7 machine is my development platform so I have been able to do extensive testing on it.
    This problem is presenting in the following environments when trying to load an applet from JAR files in a HTML document using the Applet or Object tag.
    Windows Server 2008 (Intel Chipset)
    Tested Browsers:
    Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) - Shows it is blocked by default then simply shows an x when loaded from a web page, same result when loading from local drive.
    Windows 7 Home Premium (AMD Chipset)
    Tested Browsers:
    Firefox 6.0.1 (32 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner, after a few minutes there is finally an error that a class in the jar was not found
    Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner, after a few minutes there is finally an error that a class in the jar was not found
    Internet Explorer 9 (64 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner and most of the windows desktop manager freezes, keyboard is the only thing that responds so you can alt-tab to another app to regain control of the desktop.
    Chrome (32 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner, after a few minutes there is finally an error that a class in the jar was not found
    The only way I have been able to get a Java applet to run on a 64 bit machine are the following ways.
    Firefox 9 nightly (64 bit) works perfectly! Go Firefox!
    Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) loading directly from drive (c:\...)
    Chrome (32 bit) loading directly from drive (c:\...)
    Firefox 6.0.1 (32 bit) loading directly from drive (c:\....)
    Can someone please help! I've been fighting with this bug for over a week and I can't find anything that will solve it, I have noticed that in some cases if my jar has very little code in it than it will run on the server, but the minute I start adding things to it the jar won't load anymore.

    To clarify...
    1. You have tried it on 32 bit machine? Exactly which OS?I tested this on Windows Vista Business which is in 32 bit mode and the applets run without any problems
    >
    2. Your only 64 bit tests have involved 2008/Win7?
    If so then I would suspect something with windows not java. Probably permissions.
    The web server(s) are running on localhost and I am connecting on the same machine using a local network ip address (such as 192.168.*.*)
    Yes, I haven't tried running the jars on other operating systems.
    >
    I don't understand that. If you are running on localhost then you should connect to localhost. If running on an IP then you should connect to that. Perhaps you meant that you have tested using both of those?I'm testing using the lan ip address but I'm connecting from the same machine. I've tried localhost and that didn't work so I tried lan ip since that will likely have a different java security context than localhost. At first I was blaming the IIS server but I downloaded the jar directly and using HTTP fox was able to verify that the jar is being sent with the correct mime-type and that the server can upload the jar file without a problem. This leaves me to believe the problem is with Java.

    When you are running in an applet, access to the windows clipboard is restricted (otherwise an applet could take the contents of the clipboard and send them back to it's server over the internet, potentially leaking important business information from your pc).
    Why do you need to copy the text? If you want to just place the text into some other area of your GUI then I suggest you use TextArea.GetText()

  • Chess Piece display problem in applet

    Hi,
    I'm writing a chess game applet which will be played between to players over the internet. I'm currently working on the applet side at the moment and will develop the server side once I have completed the applet. I'm currently having problems displaying the actual chess pieces on the board at the moment. One of my design decisions was to make a Board class which extends a JPanel. I have painted the actual chess board squares within the Board JPanel. I then propose to draw the pieces on top of these squares (good design decsion? Can anyone suggest another way. I was thinking of having the images as a separate layer which will sit on top of the squares but wasn't sure how to implement it). The chess pieces are contained in a gif strip www.dur.ac.uk/j.d.p.murphy called ChessPieces02.gif . The problem I am having is to display several pieces at the same time. I lloked at a Java tutorial which suggested using g.clipRect() method to display a defined section of the strip (i.e. a single piece of a certain length). Below is the Board class that I am using.
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Board extends JPanel{
    // Holds location of the mousePressed event
    Point point = null;
    // Size of a square square on the board
    int square_size = 40;
    // Mediatracker to monitor the loading of the images
    MediaTracker tracker;
    Image image;
    void init() {
    tracker = new MediaTracker(this);
    image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("ChessPieces02.gif");
    tracker.addImage(image, 0);
    try {
    //Start downloading the images. Wait until they're loaded.
    tracker.waitForAll();
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    throw new Error("error");
    if (tracker.isErrorAny()) {
    throw new Error("Could not load image");
    addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() {
    public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
    if (point == null)
    point = new Point(0, 0);
    int x = e.getX();
    int y = e.getY();
    System.out.println("X co-ord: " + x + " Y co-ord: " + y);
    // Floor the x and y values to the nearest unit of 25
    x = x - x % square_size;
    y = y - y % square_size;
    point.setLocation(x, y);
    repaint();
    System.out.println(point);
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
    super.paintComponent(g); //paint background
    System.out.println("Chess Board Paint");
    // Loop to produce the black and white squares to represent the board
    for(int jj = 0; jj < 8; jj ++){
    for(int ii = 0; ii < 8; ii++){
    if(ii % 2 == jj % 2)
    g.setColor(Color.white);
    else
    g.setColor(Color.lightGray);
    g.fillRect(ii * square_size, jj * square_size, square_size, square_size );
    // Draw a highlighted square
    if (point != null){
    g.setColor(Color.green);
    g.fillRect( (int)point.getX(), (int)point.getY(), square_size, square_size);
    //imageStrip is the Image object representing the image strip.
    //imageWidth is the size of an individual image in the strip.
    //imageNumber is the number (from 0 to numImages)
    // of the image to paint.
    int stripWidth = image.getWidth(this);
    int stripHeight = image.getHeight(this);
    int imageWidth = stripWidth / 6;
    System.out.println("Width = " + imageWidth);
    g.clipRect(120, 0, imageWidth, stripHeight / 2);
    g.drawImage(image, 0 * imageWidth, 0, this);
    What code do i need to add more pieces to the board? I plan to make a ChessPiece array (8x8) which will holld all the chess pieces on the board. Should I hold this array in the board class to make drawing the pieces easier? Any other tips for game development would also be most welcome.
    Thanks

    cross post, I think.

  • Japanese text display problems in applet using plugin

    Hi,
    We've been beating our heads against the wall on this one for quite some time, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Our product uses a third party applet (Kavachart from Visual Engineering) to display graphical statistics from our database. We are currently localizing our product to support english and japanese. With Japanese enabled, all pages use euc-jp encoding. The problem we are running into is in the display of japanese text inside this applet in IE 5 and NS 4.7x when using the java plugin (1.3 or 1.4). If the default jre of the browsers are used, the text in the applet renders fine.
    On a suggestion from the supprot folks at Visual Engineering, I modified our code to set the defaultFont parameter on the applet to "serif, 14, 1". With this set, the text in the applet renders ok in IE, but NS on windows and unix is still broken. Given that we are doing all these tests on machines running a native japanese OS, it's not even clear to me why setting the defaultFont should even be required, but at this point, I'll take anything :-)
    Has anyone else run into this and either solved it or proven that a solution is not feasible? I'm at my wits end here....
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark Evangelisto
    Synchronicity Inc.

    If you are using different java plugin, you need to install the international version of the JRE; otherwise, some characters may not be able to display correctly since some of the properties files are missing.
    As for Visual Engineering's suggestion. I don't know why they tell you to set the default font on the applet because it may cause the browser to use the font specified. Your applet works on IE because it will try to use the best font to match the web page's content. For NS anything less then 6.0 (technology based on Mozilla), they never display web page correctly especially if you did what VE suggest.
    If you are running the applet on the native langauge OS with the international version of the JRE installed, the applet should display correctly without setting the default font. If it is not the native langauge OS, first you need to install the international version of the JRE and have the fonts that are able to display the language the applet use.

  • Problem restoring applet focus

    As an exercise I wrote a Tetris clone in Swing. The game itself is fine, and runs without problems when run standalone in a JFrame. Next, I tried making an applet version of the game. Mostly the same code, just wrapped inside of a JApplet instead of a JFrame. Here's where the problems started.
    The applet version seems to run fine in Firefox as long as you do not open a new tab, or click on another already-opened tab. If you go to another tab, then back to the applet's tab, and try clicking on the applet, focus is never regained (or so it seems - the applet no longer responds to keypresses).
    In other words:
    1. I load the applet in a new tab in Firefox. I can click on the game and play it like I'd expect.
    2. I click on some other tab I already have open.
    3. I click back on the Tetris applet's tab.
    4. I click on the applet and try to start playing again. The applet doesn't respond to any keypresses, no matter how hard I try.
    What am I missing here? Hopefully this sounds familiar to somebody. I would post some code but the game is made up of several source files, and I was hoping someone would spot the obvious for me just from a description.
    FWIW, using IE7 and Safari, things work as expected - I can switch tabs, then come back and play the game fine. (Although with Safari, sometimes I really have to work to get the applet focus in the first place, but I think that's a different issue).
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
    i have a similar focus problem. After a click of a Tab and back the focus for keyboard is gone.
    I use a shell which has embedded th IE control. My applet has no such problems with jre 1.4.2_10 and older vms.
    Which jre version do you use?On Windows it was 1.6.0_03. On OS X, 1.5.0_07. On Fedora Linux, I'm not sure, but it was some release of 1.6. With all three configurations, Firefox had this problem.
    Could you please check your applet with 1.4.2_10 ? Perhaps we are facing the same problem.
    thorstenUnfortunately my code uses Java 5 features, so I can't test with 1.4.x. I might "backport" to 1.4 just to see if things work that way. But I think I found a solution. Try something like this in your applet's init() method:
    applet.setFocusable(false);
    gamePanel.setFocusable(true);
    gamePanel.setFocusCycleRoot(true);where above, "gamePanel" is the JPanel (or whatever) you added to the applet's content pane, that renders the game, etc. With this code, the "switching tabs" problem is fixed for me on both Windows and OS X. I haven't tested on Fedora yet; when I do I'll post back with the results.
    So try the above if you can, and post back with whether it works for you! I suppose if gamePanel is not a java.awt.Container subclass (i.e. if you use java.awt.Canvas), you won't have a setFocusCycleRoot() method to call, but you might not need it in that case. Not sure, haven't tested that either...

  • Java 7: Problems launching applets with jars on "file://" location

    Hi,
    We are experiencing a problem when updating our client's JRE from Java6 U 21 up to Java7 U 55.
    We have developed an Applet which is composed by several JAR files. Some of those JARs must be stored in local drive, and the JAR with the main Java class is stored on server.
    Let's supose we have a similar scenario like this:
    https://blahblahbah/bar.jar
    https://blahblahbah/test.html
    C:/foo.jar
    The code of test.html:
    <embed
      archive="file:///C:/foo.jar"
      cache_archive="bar.jar"
    />
    This code works fine on Java 6 and Applet is correctly loaded.
    However, with Java 7 a security exception is raised when trying to load JAR files from "file:///" location during Applet launch:
    java.lang.SecurityException: Permission denied: file:/C:/foo.jar
        at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2Manager._loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
    We have tried several tests using a java.policy file which grants all possible permisions:
    grant codeBase "file:/C:/foo.jar" {
        permission java.security.AllPermission;
    grant {
      permission java.security.AllPermission;
    We also tried to low Java's security level to "MEDIUM", with no success.
    We finally only managed to run the Applet if we explicity disable the "Next-Generation Plugin" with Internet Explorer 8. However, that's not a suitable solution, and still does not work with Mozilla family browsers.
    Eventhought with Mozilla browsers is still not working.
    Is there any restrictions in Java 7 that prevents to read jars from being loaded from local drive when launching Applets?
    Thanks in advance,

    Thank you baftos.
    I had read the whole message before posting mine. It's not the same problem. I'm able to run the sample signed applet always having the jar in the same location than the HTML page serving the applet via JNLP:
    <jar href="SignedAppletTest.jar" main="true"/>
    However, the security exception raises when trying to read that jar from local drive:
    <jar href="file://C:/SignedAppletTest.jar" main="true"/>
    ExitException[ 3]java.lang.SecurityException: Permission denied: file://C:/SignedAppletTest.jar
        at sun.plugin2.applet.JNLP2Manager.loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
    I have even tried to decompile JNLP2Manager class, without seeing anything useful on that loadJarFiles method
    The only way I managed to avoid the problem is unchecking the New Generation Plugin and running the Applet with IE. Not a suitable solution for me at all..
