Problem of current location of Maps

My iphone 4 (ios 4.2.1) has a problem of the current location of the Maps app since it located a wrong position (about 500-1000m away). But when i use other apps like Find my iphone, google latitude ,motionX gps and even the built-in photos app, the current location is accurate. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much!!

Getting your current location is covered on page 115 of the manual:

  • Cannot find current location on Maps with Nokia 67...

    Hi,
When I launch maps I have no problem looking through the maps with post codes etc but I cant find my current location, it searches for ages with no luck.
I dont know what to do.
    Thanks

Are you in Online or Offline mode when you search? If the later, have you loaded the map data for England via Map Loader (recommended)
Online searches are the most accurate as they use the network to connect to our servers.
Offline searches search only in the map data and so may not be as accurate and will not find results if no (or limited) map data is available.
As comodo09 says, if you can provide your search criteria we can also check ourselves
    Cheers

  • Problems with current location after upgrading to IOS 5 for IPhone 4

I have an Iphone 4 and upgraded to IOS 5, but now my current location isn't working? Any suggestions?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
Go through these steps sequentially until your problem is solved.  If after these 4 steps you're still having problems, then you likely have a hardware issue and will need to bring your phone into Apple for replacement.

  • I can't find my current location on maps.i am using i phone 4s

Do you have location services on?
    Page 105 of the manual:
"Location Services allows applications such as Maps and Camera to gather and use
data indicating your location. Location Services does not correlate the data it collects
with your personally identifiable information. Your approximate location is determined
using available information from cellular network data, local Wi-Fi networks (if you
have Wi-Fi turned on), and GPS (if you have an iPhone 3G; GPS not available in all
    locations).
You can turn Location Services off if you don’t want to use this feature. If you turn
Location Services off, you’ll be prompted to turn it back on again the next time an
application tries to use this feature.
Turn Location Services on or off: Choose General > Location Services and turn
    location services on or off.
To conserve battery life, turn Location Services off when you’re not using it. "

  • Super slow Location Services, especially current location in Maps.

Since updating my iphone software all location services applications are extremely slow, especially Maps. What can be done to fix this?

Well, as I already mentioned, the A-GPS in the phone uses cellular tower location to help fix your location. Fact is, this is not very accurate, that's why it looks for WiFi first. There's an international data base maintained by Skyhook that the phone uses to fix your location. Turn WiFi off & you lose the most accurate part of the assisted GPS.

  • Hi - an interesting problem - I accidentally deleted 'current location' from the bookmarks on the map app on my iPhone 3 GS - as it's a default app I cannot delete/reinstall it. Help!

I tried ways of using a pin to locate my current location but obviously that didnt seem to help.

Same problem, any assistance would be appreciated.
    thanks

  • I'm having trouble with "maps" on Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone.  It shows my current location and hour away from where I am.  As soon as a move iPhone away from my wifi at home to cellular it shows my correct location.  No help from Time Warner.

What can I do to get "maps" to work on my Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone when connected to wifi at home.  iPhone "maps" work fine when connected to cellular service. Maps on wifi shows me about 55 minutes away from my current location.  Very frustrating.  I called Time Warne,r my service provider, but they had no answers since they were not knowledgeable of this situation.  Anyone else having problem?  I just updated all devices to newest update.  Is that the problem.

Did you bring your wireless router with you? If so, it's possible the iPad is getting its location through the router and the router still "thinks" it's where you used to live.
Try taking your iPad to another location where there is wifi (such as a coffee shop). Then, try an app that uses location services. If it's accurate at another location, then the source of your problem is your router.

  • Map directions won't load unless using current location

Does anyone else have this problem with the Maps app?
If I map a location, then ask for directions to or from my "current location," the routes display immediately. But if I try to use any other location (for example, from my contacts), it displays a "Loading..." message and stalls. This happens even with a strong wi-fi connection.
This is an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1 with Verizon. My Maps app is using the standard view without traffic.

Mine doesn't stall under your exact scenario... it displays the route(s) immediately.
Try shutting down the Maps app..
From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
Tap and hold any icon until they wiggle
Press the red to delete the Maps app from this list.
Press the home button twice when done.
    Restart Maps and try again
Also, try a reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

    Hi,
I was facing the same issue with my Ipad - wifi.
I have found a simple solution for this but it needs you to have a iphone and period of one week.
if wifi router's mac address is not registered with apple's location services server, the location services on Ipad-wifi does not work, so we need to register wifi router's mac address to apple's server in first place.
If you have a iphone, then try to install 'Find my iphone' app. install it on your ipad also.
Initially when you login to this app with both iphone and ipad, only your Iphone will show location as it has GPS location. and your ipad location will not be reflected on this app.
If you continue to find your ipad using this app on you Iphone, and using your home wifi router, eventually after few days you would be able to track you ipad location, because your wifi router's mac address get registered on apple's server with its gps co-odridnates.
This has worked for my on 3 different wifi routers in last 8 months.
    Hope this will hope you.

  • Can't turn off 'Current Location' icon in Maps app

Model: 4GB 1st Gen iPhone +(not experiencing any other issues except this)+
*Issue Began:* Shortly after update to 2.0.1
    Frequency: Always
    *Feature Concerned:*
In the Maps app, you can press the button on the lower left corner of the screen to make it show your current location. When you do, it asks the standard "Maps wants to use your current location" message to which you can allow or deny. If you allow, the button turns blue and a little blue circle with cross-hair pops up to show where you are. Pressing the button again will remove the location marker until you repeat the process.
    Problem:
Within the first few uses of the Maps app after the 2.0.1 update, I had used the feature described above, however it won't turn off. If I push the button to turn it off, the button will turn grey as if it is off, but the marker does not go away. Every time I open the map, it searches for and then shows my location without me turning it on and without asking first. This slows the performance of the map until it is done finding me which can take from 3-15 seconds.
    *I've Tried:*
    1. Turn feature on and off again= button goes from grey to blue but location always shown and no dialog.
    2. Returning to Home screen then back to Map= button still off and still finds location, no dialog.
    3. Force-Quitting then re-launch Maps= same result as above.
    4. Cycle Airplane mode= same result as above.
    5. Cycle Power= same result as above.
    6. Restore iPhone using backup= behavior returns to normal, but first time feature is used again the problem is re-established.
    7. All combinations of above= same.
    *Ideal Solution:*
Fix the problem without having to delete applications or restore to factory default (ie. loose all my application data). I guess I'm hoping someone else had and fixed this issue, 'cause I'm not leaving much room for troubleshooting am I... :-p

    *"I've Tried" Additions:*
    8. Turn off "Location Services" (Settings->General)= when LS is off, Maps does not automatically show my location, but if I push the button it gives me the dialog and the problem is re-established (doing so will also cause LS to turn back on).
    9a. Turn Location Services off
9b. Launch Maps to verify marker is now gone button is grey
9c. Turn Location Services back on
9abc= upon returning to Maps, the button is still off but it once again immediately searches for my location with no dialog.

  • Just purchased new iPad.  Map app shows my current location in another city.  Can't figure out how to change to correct address.

QUESTION - just purchased iPad 2.  Map app shows my 'current location' in another city.  I can't figure out how to correct the address.

That is a problem with the WiFi-only iPads.  Location is determined by the routers "within reach" of your iPad.  There apparently is a database somewhere that tracks the location of routers and that is used to determine the location of the iPad.  It's been known to produce some really cockamamie results.
In my case, it was off by a reliable 200 yards for maybe the first year that I owned the iPad.  Then it mysteriously began to recognize my actual location.

  • Maps keeps remembering my old workplace as my current location

I have a problem with my iPhone 3G - Google Maps and apps that use it, keep remembering my old workplace as my current location. It is several miles away so this is quite frustrating.
I have to add it doesn't happen everytime. Is there some way of resetting Maps?
    Thanks

    Try this:
    * Navigate to Settings>General>Network>Enable 3G and toggle to “OFF”
    * Locate yourself using the iPhone 3G’s GPS receiver in the maps app.
    * Navigate to Settings>General>Network>Enable 3G and toggle to “ON”

  • Current Location bookmark disappearing from Maps App

My Current Location bookmark in the Maps app keeps disappearing. I can restore the phone and it will be there. But as soon as I restore my backup it disappears. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't have an answer (sorry) but think I have a related problem. My bookmarks tab has TWO problems. First, it doesn't scroll (can't see bookmarks below those that show up at the top of the list). Second, there is no "done" button. Very strange. And a weird bug - when in "edit" mode (to delete or rearrange bookmarks), the scrolling works.

I have the same problem sometimes when inside my house, on some occasions it shows the wrong location (1/4 mile out), when it does this, this is because it cannot get a GPS signal and instead triangulates the cellular network for a location. On other occasions it does not get GPS signal.
Has soon as I go outside the Map works fine and shows my exact location.

  • Get current LOCATION in ProcessFlow (PF) or Mapping

How can I get current LOCATION from running PF or Mapping?
    I need to run PF.
Name of PF passing via parameter of PF.
I know about wb_rt_api_exec.run_task, but first parameter is LOCATION.

It is possible to get location from ALL_RT_AUDIT_EXECUTIONS OWB public view (column OBJECT_LOCATION_NAME),
if I understand your requirements properly.
Filter rows from ALL_RT_AUDIT_EXECUTIONS via execution_audit_id, in processflow you can use predefined variable AUDIT_ID for currently running processflow audit id
