Hi there.
Here's the problem : i've bought mbp retina 15" this summer, and all was fine, my games (WoW, Diablo III, LoL...) were running at full or almost full details and everything was fine. But recently ( 2 weeks approximatively ) all fps dropped out ! I tried to force gpu, nothing changed, so i assume that it is triggered. I just reinstalled all the OS Lion, reinstalled WoW, and it's the same... I don't know what to do and you guys are my last hope before sending it back to apple.

mine the same, really low FPS, ive used gfxcardstatus and set it to discrete, and i actually get more with the Intel hd4000 than the nvidia 650.
somethings not right. its definately wow i think not doing something but i cant work out what.

SMC Update 1.1 Macbook Pro Retina 15" with Bootcamp Win 7 FPS in Games

I have the 15" Retina Macbook Pro, and I have definitely had issues with framerate in games played on bootcamp windows 7. The game I am testing fps is Rift. I noticed when plugged in, the fps drops significantly compared to when it is not plugged in (on battery.) Running on ultra video settings at 1920 x 1080, when plugged in I am getting between 7 to 15 fps after about 3 minutes of sustained use. When unplugged however I get a sustained 34+ fps.
I installed the two new updates ( OSx 10.8.3 and MBPr SMC Update 1.1 ) in the hopes they would resolve my issue. However I am seeing the same fps problems as before.
Additionally while running the game the fan spins like crazy at all times and the power cord gets quite warm. Upon quitting the game, the fan continues to spin wildly with no end.
Can anyone else reproduce these observations? I had an open ticket with Apple to fix this prior to the update on my machine. I was so excited when I saw the release notes to these two updates as it appeared they would directly address my problems. Unfortunately there has been no significant change. Needless to say, my work order shall remain open...

I tried this and it improved my FPS in games yesterday, still not getting FPS I would desire, but its become playable.

My retina MacBook Pro has had terrible graphics performance problems for a couple of weeks. I searched all over various forums and tried everything: resetting SCM, manually selecting discrete/integrated graphics card, deleting graphics kexts, etc. Nothing helped until I found this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19880198#19880198
Now my rMBP has silky smooth graphics again!
The directions in that post are a little hard to understand so I cleaned them up here:
Step 1: Delete system windowserver preferences
In the Finder, from the menu bar, select "Go -> Go to Folder..."
Enter: /Library/Preferences/
Delete the file called com.apple.windowserver.plist
Step 2: Delete user windowserver preferences
In the Finder, from the menu bar, select "Go -> Go to Folder..."
Enter: ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
Delete all files that start with com.apple.windowserver (On my rMBP, there was one file called com.apple.windowserver.12AFB147-95D6-5C70-8F62-C1E4F2BE81BE)
Step 3: Reset the PRAM (These instructions are from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379)
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Hopefully this helps others with bad graphics performance on retina MacBook Pros.

Problem with FX5600VTDR in Games andMedia Deluxe II

Can you help me with my problems?
When I start MSI Media deluxe II studio there are no letters. Except the letters there are only squares. Everything other (windows and colors) is correct.
My next problem is with some games. For example in Command & Concquer Generals. There in the game are some buildings missing. Except the building is there only their shapes. In the GTA3-vice city I have problem too. When I play the game more then 2 minutes I see texture mistakes (cars and buildings seems crazy). After 3 minutes is there a lot of colored lines.

The drivers on the MSI site are identical to the NVidia drivers. MSI tests the drivers and if its found that they operate without issue, they are placed on the site for download. That doesn't mean the newer drivers may be unstable, it just means MSI hasn't gotten around to test them as yet.
Nothing stopping you from trying the new drivers from NVidia. If they work for you use them. If not, you can always revert.

I have a problem with my photoshop CS6 retina display. my photoshop doesn't support retina on my Macbook pro 15 retina. the version I have in my laptop is 13.0v. I was trying to update to 13.1 from my photoshop through > help > update but this option is off. it is appear gray color. I couldn't click on it. please help me.

Mac Perpetual CS6 current version is 13.0.6 the subscription version is version 13.1.2. How are you trying to update to 13.1.?? do you have a Creative Cloud Subscription?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Massive Sound problems with X-Fi Gamer F. Pro + BF2

First of all, my system:
CPU: Intel E6400 (not overclocked)
Mobo: DFI Infinity 975X/G (most recent BIOS)
RAM: 2 GB OCZ
Video: GeForce 7900 GT
Other PCI card: Netgear W-Lan card
OS: Win XP 32 Bit SP 2
I bought a new X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty Pro. (SB0460) last wednesday. It's working fine except in BF242. The trouble starts when I change the Settings to "X-Fi" and very high sound quality. As soon as I start to load a map I hear some strange scratching noise and sometimes the music disappears. And then all of a sudden something like a soundstorm bursts out of my speakers (http://rapidshare.com/files/527654/Stoergeraeusche.mp3.html for those who would like to hear it). It sounds as if the X-Fi was accessing the BF242 sound database and mixing all kinds of different sounds with some scratching noise. This only happens in gaming mode and only if I turn on "X-Fi" in the BF242 settings. If I choose "hardware" instead (resulting in very high sound quality not beeing available anymore, only high quality) I don't have any problems at all. This leads me to believe that there might be some issues with EAX 5.0. BF242 is the only EAX 5.0 game I own and the only game I'm having problems with.
I've already deinstalled the drivers and removed all the remains with with "Driver Cleaner". I reinstalled them, I've switched the W-Lan card with the X-Fi, I've removed the W-Lan card completely and I've reinstalled BF242, but without success.
Is there any solution for this problem or could it be possible that I bought a broken X-Fi?

I Join the club i have had this problem for ages my games will just freeze and then i get this crazy screetching noise i have never been able to fix the problem its creative all over for you crapy drivers i have had enough of creative and wont be bying one of their cards again try it in a different pci slot or try some different drivers if its still in warranty complain to creative get shirty with them and they might rma it if all else fails goods luck rich

Since updating Firefox I have problems with playing Zynga games

since updating Firefox I have problems with the Zynga games I am playing. The functions often stop working so I have to reboot the game. Also there are often a lot of items missing on my screen so I can't play at all

I have this problem, as well, since the upgrade to 4.0.1. After the upgrade, I found several 'Recovered Files' in my Trash. On taking a look, they all had to do with the Crowdstar app. Happy Aquarium, I believe, but there are several folders of them. Some of them could have to do with Zynga's FarmVille.
However, after repeated problems, I installed Chrome 10. to see if the Facebook apps. would work. They did, without problems. That tells me the folders in Trash shouldn't have anything to do with whether they operate or not but it has something to do with something Firefox has done, or not done, with this upgrade. Frankly, I'm baffled and more than a little annoyed. :/
However, thinking back to the upgrade, it happened suddenly while I was on the phone with AppleCare on another matter. It was they who suggested I needed to upgrade my browser and I did it immediately, on-the-spot. It wasn't what you would call a 'clean install' because I was on the phone but also online with AppleCare. The process went so fast, I remember there were things about the installation that didn't quite seem right and I do remember that the earlier version of Firefox was not removed prior to the upgrade. Is there any chance something could be out-of whack because of this? If so, I need to know how to save my passwords, bookmarks, profile, and any other critical info that would need to be transferred.

Problems with FPS while gaming on MBPr Retina

Ok, I have a Macbook Pro Retina 2012. I recently started playing games on it, most seem to be ok but I'm running Windows Via VMware Fuision, it worked great...for a time. I am playing a game, that at times, has a lot of graphic qulaity and a lot going on at one time. I lowered the quilaty but still it seems jumpy like the the GPU cant keep up with the FPS. I and a 1Gb GPU. Is there anything else I can do to stop this and let in play as normal or this a problem with something different than that GPU?? I was looking into external GPUs but that seems WAY too expensive, at the moment until that design one espcailly for it. Just looking for some friendly advice.

Install Windows via BootCamp this allows the game you are playing to use all of the resources the computer has. Using VM Ware your computer has to power both Windows and Mac at the same time. Therefore performs slower. Also the GPU has to power a higher resolution screen (Retina Display) which will lower FPS.

Problems with FPS on Macbook Pro Retina while playing WoW

So, just a few days ago, I could play World of Warcraft on a highly populated server with around 30 FPS at all times on ultra graphics. All of a sudden, when I logged in last night, I got between 5-8 FPS if I was lucky, and had to turn my graphics down to fair or even low to get around the same FPS or better as before. Do you guys think this could be software or hardware? I don't really care about not playing the game with full graphics, but is instead worried if there could be something wrong with the machine itself.

So after a few months of using the MBP 15' Retina, I've discovered that the fans are incredibly loud even when playing flash games like candy crush or tetris.. are any of you guys having the same problem? Like all of a sudden from be quiet to unbelievably loud just as the games load. So yeah, hopefully someone has the same problem as I am having.
What I was thinking was that the MBP Retina 15' is such a beefed up laptop, it shouldn't require that much CPU to run flash games that are not even THAT graphically intensive to which making the fans that loud..

Believe it or not, Flash REALLY isn't the issue.
It's hardware makers making devices with less processor performance and requiring software makers to fit into a certain requirements of such. Namely iPhone, iPods and iPads.
Flash is designed to give a lot of features and work across many operating systems, browsers and platforms as a write once solution.
Flash has a certain level of processor performance requirement, which hardware makers like Apple want to build less powerful machines using less expensive processors.
Apple has removed Coverflow 3D effects from iTunes and discontinued the 17" MacBook Pro, leaving only the 15" as having a more powerful 3D capable graphics capability.
So Apple is obviously on a anti-heat/performance quest as they further thin up their hardware, trying to kill Flash by punishing Mac users who want to run it.
Flash runs without a fan sound on my older Mac with dedicated GPU and older OS X verison, no sweat.
Head to your System Preferences > Energy Saver and if you have it, uncheck Automatic Graphics switching, this will use the dedicated GPU and shorted battery life, but if your on power should reduce the heat and fan noise.
Another option is to use SMC fan control and set the fan default speed slightly faster, this will keep the machine slightly cooler and not trigger the higher fan speed as often.
If your running 10.8, you will need to System Preferences > Security > downloads to "Anywhere"

Macbook Pro Retina over 200F 5-10 fps in games (after SMC/PRAM Reset)

I have struggled with this for too long now.
I have read every single thread I can find about the issue and tried both complete reinstalled of Bootcamp, SMC reset, PRAM Reset, EFI updates, etc.
When I first got the Macbook, I could run our game development setup in around 60-80 fps.
I use the labtop for game development in Bootcamp (Windows 7 64)
Currently im not able to get more than 10 FPS. And it runs very bad - it runs in 30 fps the first second, the next its a 5, and then it goes up again.
Even though nothing happens on screen.
When i launch a game the GPU and CPU is over 200F in heat.
And thats with all the fans on constantly.
Im very worried here - Im travelling next week where I need this machine to be able to work.
What should I do? Is it broken? Should I get a new one, or will the same thing happen?

I would strongly suggest you take it into Apple Store to get it looked at.
In the mean time I can only suggest changing power management to see if this fixes it for now:
You can change the way your computer hybernates from hybernatemode 3 to 0.
3 = RAM is powered on while sleeping, but RAM contents are also written to disk before sleeping. In the event of total power loss, the system enters hibernation mode automatically. The downside to this mode is that it is very slow. The upside is that it is very unlikely that you will lose any unsaved work should your mbp lose power.
0 = RAM powered on while sleeping, safe sleep disabled, and super-fast wake. The downside to this mode is that it does not save any of your work, should your mbp lose power, and you would have to remember to manually save before putting to sleep. The upside is that your computer would sleep & wake up in around 2 seconds.
Go to Terminal & type:
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
That should give you a result of 3.
To change it to 0 type:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
It might ask you to enter your password.
Then delete the old sleepimage file:
cd /var/vm
sudo rm sleepimage
Just remember, saving will have to be done manually by you,
