Problem on ASP site after OS X update

I'm the webmaster on an ASP website and I'm using OS X 10.6.7.  After the Security update 2011-002, if I go to the adminstrator's area on that website and try to enter data it's like the keyboard isn't connected.  I can boot to older images of my hard disk or to a computer I have that is running Tiger, or to an old Windows laptop I have, and everything works fine.  It appears that somehow this update activated some feature that says I have too many characters in one particular area of the administrator's section of the website.  From my reading there is no way to remove the update.  I've tried all the major browsers and they all are the same.  It is only with my updated computer than I can't enter data into that one segment of the website.  Any ideas or suggestions on how to track this down?  Thanks.

... And I've run this site for several years without a glitch, so it certainly isn't the case that ASP doesn't ever work fine with OS X, because it has flawlessly until this recent update....
I've maintained ASP/IIS, SQL, Sharepoint and Exchange (OWA) servers for many years (over 10, since the late 90s.  Okay, Sharepoint might be less than 10 years old. ) and I have tried using various versions of Netscape, Opera, Firefox, Safari and now recently Chrome, to manage these Microsoft based servers.  None worked flawlessly.  Some browsers worked better for the "basic features", but I always had to have IE running somewhere.  The "simpler" your ASP code, the more likely it would work, but overall, I'd say you've just been lucky.  Or rather, your luck may have just run out.
If you're going to continue to use ASP, then I recommend you either have your Mac run Windows in Boot Camp/Parallels/Fusion, or use RDP to remote connect to one of the Windows servers so that you can run IE off of the server to access the management web pages that don't work from your Mac.  I RDP to one of my Windows workstations as the primary method of managing the Windows servers when not at my desk.  And it can be done from a Mac, PC, iPad or my Windows Mobile smartphone.  (The workstation is also configured with other tools to make managing the servers easier, but that's another topic.)

  • Difficulty with some sites after last Security update..

    anyone else had any problems?
    I've found that with my bank, and a couple of other sites like myspace, Safari keeps instantly coming up with 'server cannot be found' error, without even trying to access the sites. Sometimes shift-click/return does the trick (after 10 hits!) or I end up having to reset Safari, and it'll work for a couple of visits. And even then, once I've managed to get into the site, clicking links is a chance in itself, that I don't get the same error.
    My mac at work was fine (didn't do the last Security update), and all this only started after the last update..
    GAAAH!!!!

    Terrible Problem, and I'm certain attributable to the latest Security Update. I have tried EVERYTHING, including deep system cache clearning, combined update, permission repairs, Purging ALL plugins from Safari, DNS cache reset... you name it. I am an EE, Mac User for 20 years, computer/Unix savvy, and am completely stumped, having tried EVERY trick in book short of the Windows Style "Reformat and Reload the Hard Disk." I can't log into gmail, or this site for that matter (using an old laptop presently). The problem occurs with the following common denominators: ASP page, Screen Name/Password dialog box, and then either a return to blank dialog page, or an endless string of redirects. THIS AFFECTS EVERY BROWSER I TRY, INCLUDING THE LATEST FIREFOX. Needless to say, this problem is driving me NUTS, and of course I can't get any help directly from Apple, since my laptop is over a year old. I doubt I would find tech help sophisticated enough anyway. Does ANYBODY have any suggestions? This is one of these maddening problems that can consume entire evenings. I wish I had never installed the latest security update.

  • Problems Getting to Sites After Installing SP2 and Dec CU

    Our setup was running great for the last year and a half.  We decided to install SP2 and the CU’s that had been released since. The updates and CU installs went fine. However, after the install we are having problems with users being prompted
    with credentials.   When going to any of the sites (not AAM) our users can get in fine. However, if we browse to one of the other sites we are continually prompted for credentials and can’t get in. For example, if I go to
    App1 I get in fine but, when I go from App1  to App2 , I continually get prompted for credentials. If I start by going to App2 I get in fine but continually get prompted for credentials when going from App2 to App1. In addition, if I go to
    any of the AAM’s I get in just fine. However, if I try to go to any other site after this, I get the credential prompts. It seems like an issue with the session.
     I have looked through the event logs, used the trace utility, fiddler and tried changing the auth setting s with no luck, no apparent problems in the logs or detail.
     Any advice or help would be appreciated. Again everything worked until we installed the updates

  • Problems with keyboard shortcuts after iOS 6 update?

    Just to be clear what I am talking about, I am talking about Settings > General > Keyboard > Shortcuts.
    My keyboard shortcuts stopped working after the software update. I have deleted and recreated them and nothing.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    I backed up my iphone 4S - which had been ugpraded to IOS6 - and when i restored to my Iphone 5 -- my shortcut keys had stopped working!
    Turning it off - and back on again makes shortcuts work - but only for so long
    All my shortcuts have been copied over correctly.

  • Problems with ITMS Videos after 1.1 Update

    OK, so there are lots of posts about video problems on 5G ipods after software update 1.1 and what encoding methods were used etc etc.
    After updating my 60GB iPod to 1.1 all my videos, including those purchased from the iTunes Music Store, suffer from audio problems.
    The video playback is fine, no freezing like others have mentioned, but I get loud popping and clicking sounds on the audio, particulalry at the start of a clip.
    Has ayone else experienced problems with video sound after the 1.1 update?
    Restoring to software 1.0 resolved the problem so there is definitely a problem with 1.1 and ITMS content.
    Apple need to sort this out. Fast.

    I foolishly did the 1.1 upgrade to my 60G iPod. I found that, as we all know by now, that all ov my videos that weren't from Quicktime Pro or purchased through iTunes hang after about 30 seconds, and then continues without any audio. But, the really obnoxious part is that my videos that I converted via QuickTime Pro suffered from very strange audio artifacts. These would fall into the category of clicks, purrs, warbles and other strange noises in addition to the audio that is supposed to be there. That pushed me over the line, and I "downgraded" my iPod back to release 1.0. I did the "restore" to completely erase my iPod and then re-loaded it from iTunes. I had already upgraded iTunes, and it has no problems with my now-restored-to-version 1.0 iPod. By the way, you have to edit a system file in order to do the downgrade: Put the ipod in harddisk mode. Edit the file (hidden folder and file) \iPod_Control\Device\SysInfo Replace the line that have the word "buildID" with this line:
    buildID: 0x05908000 (6.0)
    Then run the original iPod Updater to put 1.0 back onto it. This will leave you with the "feature" that any video that you change the Video Kind to TV Show will not show up on your iPod unless it's in a Video Play List. I actually like this, as it keeps the Video list from being cluttered up.

    I'm afraid, i will greatly appreciate any help on this one.
    I'm working on it since 2 days without success (I read many thread without help).
    So the fact:
    I have 2 AD (2008 R2) on site 1 and 2 AD (2008 R2) on site 2.
    I have also 2 files servers (2008) on site 1 and 2 files servers (2008 R2) on site 2.
    The files servers run DFS system.
    DFS Namespace is host on all AD.
    DFS Replication and share are on all files servers.
    After update all my servers. I got a big problem.
    Communication between files servers and AD of site 2 isn't working properly now.
    By this fact, DFSR is not working anymore between site 1 (all seem fine on this site) and site 2.
    DFSR on site 2, pop this events all time:
    Event 1202 - Source DFSR
    The DFS Replication service failed to contact domain controller  to access configuration information. Replication is stopped. The service will try again during the next configuration polling cycle, which will occur in 60 minutes. This event can be caused
    by TCP/IP connectivity, firewall, Active Directory Domain Services, or DNS issues.
    Additional Information:
    Error: 160 (One or more arguments are not correct.)
    Event 1055 - Source GroupPolicy
    The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller.
    b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).

    I cannot even publish the site. Muse crashes when I try to view site in browser and it crashes when I try to publish the site. It is not the browsers - yes I have tried. It has only happened since I updated to 2014.3 - just like everyone else having problems. This is a problem with the update. I can make a new site in the new release and it works - however all existing sites built before 2014.3 release is no good. This a big problem that needs sorting out. I should not have to rebuild everything again. I have sent my muse file via dropbox, as I have seen other people having trouble being asked to send the file through and it will be looked at. The url is http://australiasnaturecoast.businesscatalyst.com/ . This is not the correct version as I made a new site in the new muse update. I need my original version to work. I have tried uninstall and reinstall of Muse and this has not helped.

  • Problems with Danish characters after 3.4 update

    I have now tried to update photos to my archieve - http://www.fodboldfotografen.dk/coppermine14x/index.php - Coppermine as I have always done. In the description, keyword and meta data text I am using Danish Characters such as ø æ å Ø Æ Å. Until now there have never been any problems.... but today after updating to 3.4 I get the following
    FC Nordsjælland mod Silkeborg IF i Farum Park. Resultat 3-2. Mål af Rawez Lawan (FCN), Nicolai Stokholm (FCN), Martin �rnskov (SIF), Jeppe Illum (SIF)
    When I open the file in Photoshop and check the meta data there is no problem to be noticed.... only when uploaded. I tried to upload the latest files before updating - exported from Lightroom and there is no problem. So it is not coppermine....
    Any suggestions......?
    Fortunately I haven't updated my labtop to 3.4, so I will try on 3.3 later and see what happen...

    I checked the setting in Coppermine and it is set to (recommended) UNICODE UTF-8. So apprently and unfortunately that didn't seem to be the problem :-/
    Someone mentioned saving the metadata again in 3.4. I have to look into that. But to me it seems odd and a fault in LR 3.4

  • Microfone problems on iphone 5 after last IOS update

    Updatet my iphone 5 to IOS 7.1.2, and during the update my screen "froze" in the apple logo. I waited 1 hour before I had to restart it in order to continue.
    Now I suddenly have a microfone problem! When I  call a person Im not able to hear the "ringing tone" or hear the person Im calling speak. My only solution is to use a headset.... As I have seen on the forum, several others have similar problems after updating so this must be a software problem! I have tried to clean everything for dust, taken my earphones in and out 5-6 times (from the phone, not my ears... ), hard reset, adjusting the "Assistiv touch", and sung chritmas songs... Any other ideas???? Also any suggestion to which microphone in particular I have a problem with? Everything else works.

  • Problems with incoming iMessages after iOS 7 update

    Hello,
    Since updating to iOS 7 (and also installing the 7.02 update), I am having the following problems with iMessages:
    1) Messages sent to my phone from another iPhone user do not hit my phone until it connects to the internet, either via wifi or through cellular data. I don't have a lot of data on my cell plan, so I keep cellular data turned 'off' unless I am actively using it.  As an example, yesterday, my daughter who has an iPhone had messaged me, and rather than just recieving her messages as regular old texts, they had to sit there in cyberspace until I turned my cellular data on, and then they hit my phone as iMessages.  Prior to iOS 7, they came as text messages if my phone was not web-connected and available for an iMessage.  I don't like that I had no clue there were messages waiting for me until I activated cellular data so I could check my email.
    2) I am not getting push notifications for iMessages.  When I'm home and the phone is connected to wifi, if I wake the phone up to use it for something (hit the home button and slide it), a few seconds into using the phone, I will receive iMessages that were sent while the phone was sitting there not being used. As an example, yesterday my daughter had sent several messages to me that were delivered as iMessages since my phone was connected to wifi.... but they didn't hit my phone until I was utilizing the phone for another purpose.  They had been sent a couple of hours earlier and I had no clue the messages existed because I hadn't been notified.
    3) Sometimes the #2 situation is worse... I don't get the iMessages over wifi until I actually open the Messages app.
    Also, when I put iOS 7 on my phone, it deleted all previous conversations that had come through as iMessages.  Made me sad.  I had a lot of photos that had been sent to me via iMessage that were just there in the conversation threads, and now I don't have those photos anymore.
    Any thoughts about how to remedy my issues? I hate not knowing someone with another iPhone is trying to message me.  When an android user sends me a message, it just comes through as a text and I know it's there... but fellow iPhone users might as well call me to tell me they have sent me a text, because otherwise... I'll never know!

  • Is anyone having problems with trail sites are not allowing updates under the new rendering engine.

    My Trial sites are NOT saving edits made in multiple areas.
    Examples
    Products - Anything I try to do in the product description window says it has updated but then reverts back to what it was originally.
    Web pages - Same for anything in the page updates in the page content window.
    Product Attributes wont update.
    It appears I can add new things, but no edits work.
    All say they are saved then revert back on screen to previous version.
    It is only happening on my trial sites, which has been upgraded to the new liquid engine as far as I can tell as my live sites are fine. (or not converted yet)
    I can do some updates via dreamweaver and FTP.

    I have contacted support and it appears to be only an issue with IE as works in Firefox.
    They are saying it is an issue with my PC / Browser as they cannot recreate it - 
    I have reset all IE back to standard settings.
    My question is if it were only an issue with my browser, why does it work on the live sites and the sites not yet transitioned.

  • Problem Connecting to Internet after recent Software Updates from Apple

    I have an old iMac 15" flat panel, running OS X 10.3.9, just ran the Software Update an hour ago. Now my computer won't connect to my wireless network via the Airport. I tried to open the Internet Connect apps from Apple and it won't even load, it has this swirling beachball has been on for 15 minutes and it says "Loading Internet Connect..."
    Anybody experience something like this! Could this be another Apple blunder with their software update?
    I tried, restart, remove the plist of Internet Connect, all those did not help!

  • Problems with Menu Bar after recent security update

    Ever since installing yesterday's security update I have been having problems with the menu bar. When clicking on the blue Apple in the upper left hand corner, no drop-down menu appears as it should. This problem also occurs in the drop-down menu named for the program in various instances (Thunderbird, Azureus, iTunes, Finder, Firefox) but not in others (Safari, Adium, VLC). Sometimes the menus are simply truncated and do not include all the options they should rather than not opening at all.
    I have run Disk Utlity which found no problems and have performed a hard restart multiple times but the problem persists. Any advice would be very helpful. Thank you.
