Problem on KB2562485 security update on server 2008 SP2 X64

Dears
from some day ego I Scanned one of my servers Widows server 2008 SP2 X64 with Nessus vulnerability scanner.
after scan Server have a Critical problem was about KB2562485 security update ( Vulnerabilities in DNS Server Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2562485)) . I have checked This update on installed update which I see this update already exist.
Also I try to installing this update manually "Windows6.0-KB2562485-x64" that error come "The update does not apply to your system"
Have you ever see this issue? while you see the update already installed but vulnerability software such as Nessus face you have a critical problem for this update?
This is server problem or Nessus?
Many thanks for you support

Anytime I've ever seen disparities between the results of third-party scanners and WSUS, in every case, the third-party scanner was reporting false-positives -- usually as a result of using outdated scanning data.
As pertains to KB2562485, which is a part of MS11-058... knowing the vintage of updates can be a very useful clue... what do you suppose the odds are that you've got a server that's gone unpatched for over two years? Furthermore, MS11-068
was superseded by MS12-017 (KB2647170), which was released in March, 2012.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 - Windows Update Errors...

    Hello,
I've a windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 server that I've applied Windows updates to this evening. A large number were successful, however there are 13 that will not install and keep on failing. I've run sfc/scannow which found and repaired some
errors - restarted server - no difference.
Please see windowsupdate.log output below (apologies for the length). I've tried installing individual updates from the 13 but it makes no difference and the errors are just the same. It seems to be the same error for each update although unfortunately doesn't
mean much to me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks gents.

  • OS 10.7, SMB Connection, Change to Unicode with Extended Security on Windows Server 2008 Standard

Hi All,  I've searched Google, and I've also contacted Apple Support with no luck:  I want to implement unicode with extended security on Windows Server 2008 Standard server shared folders so that Lion can connect normally (i.e. Finder->Go->Connect to Server->IP Address or server name) to SMB shares and access files.  I'm lacking information; has anyone actually implemented unicode with extended security?  If so, how?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply aorlich. Do you mean enable file sharing on my Mac? With file sharing enabled, I still cannot get to my Windows 7 shares, although the files on my Mac do become available to Windows. Thanks again.

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2 stops responding as multiple services timeout

There is another thread open under the "General" section. I was asked to post it here. I have left the other thread open because I believe this is not just applicable to the Remote Desktop Services Role. (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/94b0d7f7-6a26-4795-8c1f-ffee1ac309aa/)
    Hey everyone,
I have now seen this issue happen on multiple Windows Server 2008 Terminal server setups. The services that time out are not exactly the same across all the servers, but a number of them are the same on all of them.
Here are the lists of services that timed out on one of these servers, along with the time it happened.
80237AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the AudioEndpointBuilder service.
80307AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the BITS service.
80237AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the CertPropSvc service.
80407AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the CryptSvc service.
80437AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Netman service.
80507AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the NlaSvc service.
80537AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the RasMan service.
80607AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Schedule service.
80637AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the seclogon service.
80707AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service.
80737AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.
80807AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UxSms service.
80837AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WinVNC4 service.
80851AM - The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.
80907AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WPDBusEnum service.
80938AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the wuauserv service.
81008AM - A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service.
In the end, the server has to be restarted for us to access it and for users to connect to it.
Doing some research, I cam across this KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972596/), but not sure if it applies to this situation. I have seen
other people post about this issue, but haven't come across anything that states the cause and resolution.
Has anyone else faced this or is facing it at the moment?
Any tips or suggestions would be great!

  • Server 2008 SP2 hangs at Applying Registry Policy

I have a VM with Server 2008 SP2 (32bit) that hangs when we try to log in. If I uncheck the network adapter property "Connect at power on" within VMware I can log on with no problem. The moment I connect the network it hangs upon boot up. I have
tried to look through the Event Viewer, but nothing obvious is jumping out at me.
Regarding updates...none have been done in nearly three months, so I think that rules out updates as a culprit.
    This server has two functions:
    1 - MySQL
    2 - Hosts one website
I have tried to run RSoP.msc when the network is not connected, but it just hangs. If I try to install anything (updated VMware Tools) or unistall something it just hangs. If I try to check services or disable services...it just hangs. All result in me having
no choice but to power it down without a graceful shutdown. I can boot into safemode with no problems, so hopefully there is something within that I can do.
Guidance would be appreciated, but we are preparing to build a new VM from scratch.
    Rick

Is that a multihomed server? If yes, you might need to check the routing table content. You can also reset your TCP/IP stack: http://www.geeksinphoenix.com/blog/post/2010/12/03/Resetting-your-network-adapter-in-Windows-7.aspx
You need also to check that you using the correct DNS server: Please make sure that you have set only available and reachable DNS servers on the server itself while public DNS servers are configured as forwarders on your internal DNS servers.
As you can get inside the VM using Safe Mode, please check which updates were applied recently as that might point you to the problem.

  • Error While Creating Windows Server 2008 SP2 32-BIT Virtual Machine

I am facing an error while creating a Virtual Machine on the Cloud. The Error is below:
    Error (610)
Virtual Machine Manager was unable to find a value for the required Sysprep parameter ProductKey.
    Recommended Action
Add the missing Sysprep parameter either to the answer file or to the operating system configuration, and then try the operation again.
My Template does not have the Product Key defined.  The OS is Windows Server 2008 SP2 32-BIT.  Is defining Product Key absolutely necessary?  I have other Templates for other Operating Systems and they are working fine.  Only facing problem
    with this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

In the SCVMM world a 'template' is composed of the following: a VHD with an OS that has been generalized (sysprep), virtual hardware profile (settings), and an OS profile.
The OS profile is required to have a product key.  A MAC activation key at the minimum.  But the key is required.
If you deploy a VM from a VHD, the same customization assumptions are not at play.  Which is why it succeeds.  (there is no template in this case, there is also no requirement that the OS in the VHD be sysprep'd).
SCVMM has rules.  And lots of things don't make sense until you begin to understand them and play within them. (I am not saying that the SCVMM rules are a good thing, just saying they exist)

  • Windows server 2008 R2 x64 Authentication failure while try to access Windows server 2003 R2

    Hello,
I try to access Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard from Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 standard using integrated windows authentication . And because my application tries to read SQL server i'm getting and error that user is not trusted. Then I tried to open a
simple shared folder on  2003 and none of the users is able to do it. Both servers are part of common workgroup in the same IP range. Using domain is not an option. Migrating 2003 to 2008 is not an option either. The specific DB provider I have to use

  • Oralce EPM Fails to install Weblogic on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

I've run the installer on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and it fails to install Weblogic. I don't have MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common. Config tool log says missing jars. When I go back to install and choose products individually, Weblogic Server is gray. When I click on Weblogic Server, the message at the bottom says can not be installed.
I have checked that I have extracted the following assemblies:
Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.0.0
Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Foundation Services Release 11.1.2.0.0 - Parts 1 - 4
Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Additional Content Release 11.1.2.0.0
I have run this same set of files on another server and Weblogic was installed. Am I missing something?

I am not sure if it is your problem but I don't think R2 is officially supported, I did have problems with it when I first installed 11.1.2 so I installed with R1 SP2.
    Cheers

  • Windows Server 2008 sp2 Task Scheduler missing next run time after restart

    Hi,
I have the issue that there does not appear to be a fix for with a server 2008 sp2 (NOT R2) where after a restart all tasks are missing the next run time so I need to edit each task to add this time back in. I have tried  the hotfix in KB 950035
but this when you run it is only for Vista and cannot be installed despite saying it's also for Server 2008.
For some reason also this is Task Scheduler version 1 not 2 which I thought came with windows since Vista so SP2 should have it.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi Evans,
Would you please let us know current situation of this issue?
As Dave mentioned, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 include all the previously released updates for Windows
    Server 2008.
Based on your description, I understand that all scheduled tasks still miss the next run time on your Windows
Server SP2 when the server restart. If anything I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
On current situation, please open Properties of one problematic scheduled task, navigate to History tab, then
check if find some relevant events or errors. Those may help us to go further analyze.
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2 randomly reboots due to lsass.exe failed with status code 255

    Hello,
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.  I have an older Windows Server 2008 SP2 (I don't believe it is R2) (running SQL Server 2008 and SSRS 2008 on the machine) that is crashing randomly
during business hours.  Looking into the event logs, I have found the following:
Faulting application lsass.exe, version 6.0.6002.18541, time stamp 0x4ec3ca01, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.6002.18551, time stamp 0x4ee8d118, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00000000000011ad, process id 0x284, application start
    time 0x01d066d9669a3e1c.
A critical system process, C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code 255.  The machine must now be restarted.
The process wininit.exe has initiated the restart of computer RIDEDB02 on behalf of user  for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
     Reason Code: 0x50006
     Shutdown Type: restart

I found a Hot Fix for a similar issue (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2732595?wa=wsignin1.0), but it appeared to only be applicable to Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7.
A few hours later, the crash happened again, with a slightly different error:
The system process 'C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819.  The system will now shut down and restart.
Faulting application lsass.exe, version 6.0.6002.18541, time stamp 0x4ec3ca01, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.6002.18551, time stamp 0x4ee8d118, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00000000000011ad, process id 0x284, application start

A critical system process, C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000005.  The machine must now be restarted.
The security package Kerberos generated an exception. The exception information is the data
I have been unable to find a reason for these exceptions and the server rebooting.  Any thoughts or ideas on how I can correct this error so it doesn't reboot our server again?  .

  • Evenlog viewing causes CPU usage 100% on Windows server 2008 SP2

We have Windows server 2008 SP2 with strange behaviour. When I scroll down events in eventlog viewer CPU usage hits 100% and eventlog viewer freeze. CPU usage is split between 2 processes SVCHOST.EXE (lmhosts, eventlog and Dhcp services) and MMC.EXE.
1)I tried to replace eventlog files with new ones. That didn’t helped
2)After server clean boot problem still exist.
3)When CPU hits 100% usage process explorer shows that from SVCHOST.EXE process CPU is used by service EventLog.
Any ideas how to fix this?

    Hi Santosh
    I re-installed VMware
tools and also configured VMXNET 3 - nothing changed :(
    Sorry to hear that.
Windows event log service has couple of dependencies i.e. task scheduler and windows event collector service. Can try restrating those services ?
In addition to above, try following steps
Change NTFS permission of  %WINDIR%\System32\WinEvt\Logs directory, add Local Service and
Network Service, give them FULL permissions.
Stop and Start event viewer service by running following command
net stop eventlog && net start eventlog
Issues like this might occur if the disk (FC or iSCSI SAN or even NAS) has some inconsistencies , this is true in case of both physical and virtual machines
You might want to try running chkdisk as well on the server in question

If nothing helps, try inplace upgrade of the Operating system as an last option.

  • Windows server 2008 sp2 andoracle database 10g r2

We have created a server with windows server 2008 sp2, installing various roles, active directory, domain, dhcp server, dns server, some others, and various functionalities, and all works fine.
After all of this we are trying to install oracle database 10g, 'cause compatibiliy with an already existing db running at the moment under this database platform, using oracle universal installer, and when the launcer starts the procedure oracle database configuration assistant its windows come out and after just the 2% of the procedure it stops with ora-12560 error.
Before this not any kind of error appear.
the windows firewall security windows that appears, just 2, are unlocked by clicking the unlock button.
    All seems configured right.
The listener service, oracleoradb10g_home1tnslistner, seems configured right, automatically configured from the setup procedure just before the oracle database configuration assistant, and is running.
This is the only one service created and running, at this point of the installation, from oracle.
the global database we are trying to create is named orcl, but in any place this name is found at the moment that the installation stops.
I hope that someone can help with this 'cause are 5 days that we are blocked with the installation and can't install the server in its environment.
    We are desperates.

    At this link
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10203vista.html
it says server and client for windows 2008 not just client.
    Not only.
If I install this with no creation of the active directory and the domain, with all the rest, the installation work till the end without any error.
And anyway the error i reported in the first post happen the same, exactly the same point of the installation, with the 11g version too.
Waiting and hoping can be helped
    Best regards.

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2 X86 Product Key Issue

I am trying to create a VM using a Template, but facing an issue with respect to Product Key.  The VHD I am using is of
Windows Server 2008 SP2 X86.  If I do not provide Product Key in the Template/Guest OS Profile, the Virtual Machine creation fails even before starting. Seeing this behavior, I added a dummy key to the Guest OS Profile/Template which allowed
me to deploy the machine, but the VM gets stuck at Customization before failing. When I take the remote console of the VM, the Error I see at the Remote Console is:
Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass. The settings specified in the answer files cannot be applied. The error was detected while processing settings for component [microsoft-windows-shell-setup]"
So, I am confused now what to do.
    Is dummy key supported?
Do I need to provide the actual key in the Template/Guest OS Profile?

You should be able to evaluate this software for 180 days.
