What does it mean when it says there is a problem with the sim card?

Exactly that, there is a problem with the sim card.
The sim card is the little chip that links your iPad to the cellular providers network to get internet anywhere.
It may have moved in the tray and lost contact, it may have an actual issue, or it may be deactivated by your cellular service provider.
Contact them to have them look at it or your service and see if there is anything wrong with it.

had the same problem. windows doesn't see the network card in device manager. what I did is disconnect completely my power cord from my psu , press the cmos clear button and wait 5 min. I reconnect my power cable and power on my pc and voila my network card was recognized by windows has a Ethernet controller. Then I installed the killer driver suite and it work ok. Be sure that you enable your network card in the bios.

    Hello, Toro Silva.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The steps in the section labeled Unable to activate FaceTime or iMessage with phone number and Apple ID after waiting 24 hours (iPhone only) of the article below, should help resolve the issue.  Make sure to create a current backup prior to processing these steps.

  • "There is a problem with the SIM card in your iPhone"

I'm getting this error when I try to activate my new iPhone 4 through iTunes:
"*There is a problem with the SIM card in your iPhone.*
To activate your iPhone with this account, you will need a new, unactivated SIM card. Please use the SIM card that was provided with your new iPhone. If you are using the new SIM card, and are unable to complete activation, you can go to an Apple Retail Store or an AT&T company owned retail store to request an unactivated SIM. If you would prefer to have a replacement SIM card sent to you via overnight mail, please call us at 1-800-MY-APPLE. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."
Now I've already been to AT&T and nothing they could do with the account settings would work, in fact they had never seen the issue before. They gave me a new SIM card and that did nothing as well. Finally they tried out a different SIM tray, and that still didn't work. I have a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. Do you think that the SIM reader inside the iPhone 4 is broken?

I solved a problem I had with activating my iPhone although the error message was different from yours.
I got the message "There is something wrong with your iPhone and it cannot be activated, please bring it to your nearest Apple service".
Via a Chinese forum I found out its the SIM card witch is the problem. If the serial number of the SIM has a "letter" in it it won't work. If only numbers it will work.
I now tried it with 2 SIM cards with letters and got the message over and over again. Than tried with my only numbers SIM card and it activated instantly.

  • How do I get an Equium A110-233 to recognise the network card under Linux?

    Hi,
I've just bought an Equium A110-233. I partitioned the hard disk so I've got XP and Fedora Core 5 (FC5).
XP works fine when I plug in the network cable, but FC5 (or at least the Linux kernel) does not seem to be able to find and activate the network card.
The message I get is "8139too device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization". The 8139too module is in memory as is mii (which points to it).
Somehow I need to get Linux to detect that the card is there, but I just don't know how to do that. Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi
As far as I know the notebook has a integrated Realtek Network I/F Chip RL8100CL.
I think you should googol around for the compatible LAN driver for Linux which supports this chip.
Unfortunately, on the Toshiba page you will not find any drivers for any Linux distribution because Toshiba doesnt support this OS. ;(

  • Is there problems with the network/signal in TA3 Taunton area

Is there problems with the network/signal in the TA3 Taunton area I have not had a signal all day and then to make contact with one of my children regarding school pick up.

Unfortunately so. Spoke to EE today and the service may take up to 72 hours to get back to normal - which is unbelievable given how much we use our phones for day to day life! As they cannot do anything for us, to thank us for our patience they are asking us to monitor when the service resumes and get back to them (no doubt on their £ per min line) and let them know and they’ll credit us for the down time. Just Brilliant!!

What is my next step?  I am traveling in Canada now and it is not convenient to come back to the States just to get a SIM card.

    Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me.  How can I initiate Verizon sending me a new SIM card?  I will be here  long enough to receive it if they can send it to me.
I have been trying to call Verizon Wireless, but they won’t take my call from my Skype account and I don’t have my phone.
    Thanks again,

  • Problem with the sound card

    Hello everyone,
So here for 2-3 days, the sound of my Macbook starts beuguer (buy in October 2014). So when starting the mac when I listen to music all goes well, I can adjust the sound using the keys on my keyboard, and when I ca defois support appears to me that the sound is cut off, I think it 'is a problem with the sound card. But as soon as I plug in headphones, not set I have to go through the system preferences. By unplugging the problem remains the same on his fate, but impossible to resolve through the keyboard. I tried to put the volume icon on the top bar but even by setting it does not work here. The problem resolves itself after 30 minutes-1 hour. It's very annoying. Thank you in advance for your answers.

    Hi, Dolve
This could be either hardware or software, so let's start with trying to get all drivers and software up to date. This page has updates for all your system. I would recommend getting at least your latest audio driver and BIOS downloaded. Following the installation, try using your sound again and see if the issue still persists.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Hi, I am trying to update an iPhone 4 from iOS 4.3.3 to iOS 7.0.4, and every time I try to update it comes up with an error message saying that there was a problem because the network connection was reset. Is there any way I can get past this and update?

    The full message said:
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Judy's iPhone 4". The network connection was reset.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.
I am trying to update the iPhone for my grandmother, Judy, as I am leaving for Paris on Wednesday night and we want to have Facetime installed on her iPhone before then, so we can stay in contact with each other. It is the simplest way for this to happen but the program simply will not allow me to update her iPhone.
Is there any way to get past this error and update her iPhone? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Dear Jody..jone5
Good for you that can't update your iphone because I did it and my iphone dosen't work for example I can't download any app like Wecaht or Twitter..
    Goodluck

  • Cant buy from itunes store, message says there was a problem downloading - the network connection could not be made

recently changed my PC and successfully exported my itunes library. My problem is that when I now try to buy a song I get a message saying that there was a problem downloading (song) and that the network connection could not be made. Occasionally I get that the itunes store is temporarily unavailable and to try again later. The old PC was running Windows XP and the new one Windows Vista. I have already tried downloading a fresh version of itunes and ticked the repair option. Everything else appears to be working normally. Can anyone help please?

Still having trouble, the computer is authorized and appears normal in its function. Recently discovered that while it lists items I have purchased on another device it will not let me download to this computer and shows the same message as above. Also noticed that itunes says it is not connected to the internet which cannot be true because the list of previous purchases appears. Any help gratefully appreciated

  • Need help configuring VPN - problems accessing the networks

Hi everyone, hope someone can help me out here.
I'm administering the network for our small company. We basically have two sets of machines - public ones with fixed net addresses (mail, web, dns servers, etc), and private ones behind a wireless router/nat.
Our main need here is to be able to VPN in to the public side, in particular, the mailserver, so that we can get around all the stupid things that get done to SMTP when we connect at the BedBug Inn ("Free wifi, administered by gibbons").
Secondarily, it would be nice to be able to connect to and browse some of the internal machines.
So here is what I did:
    * Installed 10.4.10 Server on a machine with two ethernet interfaces, one that has a public IP address, the other connects into the private network. When I'm actually at that machine, things work fine - I can browse the private network shares, connect to the net, etc.
    * Configured VPN. I have no problems getting a VPN connection, both sides are happy. The VPN assigns incoming clients IP addresses in the private network IP range, but outside those assigned by the wireless router's NAT.
    * Added 192.168.2.1/255 (the private network) and 12.17.29.193/224 (the public network) to the Network Routing Definition box under VPN/Settings/Client Information.
However, here's where it all falls down. Once the VPN is established, I can't connect to any of the public machines, and the only private-side device that seems to respond is the Wireless/NAT box (A Belkin N1). So the only thing I can do is administer the Belkin remotely, which, while nice, is not exactly what I had in mind.
Doing a traceroute while VPN is active to my mailserver shows the first hop direct to the VPN machine, then off into * * * heaven (though I have no idea if traceroute works over VPN!).
One curious note: when I change the order of the Network Routing Definitions so that the public network comes first, and the private one second, I can't contact the Belkin box.
Any advice, oh wise and powerful masters of technology?
Various, but the server is running on a G4   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    I said:
"let's assume I VPN to the wireless box"
    You replied:
"That's not correct as it is not the device running the VPN endpoint - in this case. "
But wouldn't I have to (on the VPN client) specify the public IP of the wireless box in order connect (because the packets are forwarded) to the actual OS X box running the VPN? Otherwise, it can't see it.
Part of the problem I have is that I can't dedicate a whole machine to VPN. The OS X machine running VPN is also running DNS, and will eventually run our mailserver and perhaps FTP, web, etc, as I slowly migrate stuff to it.
So this machine has to have a public IP address. It cannot be hidden behind the wireless NAT. And it seems to me that this is the crux of the problem. What I think you are telling me is that if the VPN machine was entirely hidden behind the wireless NAT, and had no direct public (WAN) interface, then since all the packets destined for the outside world (including my public servers)would have to go through the NAT, and all would be OK.
If so, then it seems to me that the best solution is to use something like OpenVPN on another OS X (not OS X Server, since I only have one of those) machine in the private network. Since the incoming VPN traffic will be Mac only, it shouldn't be an issue, L2TP-only is fine.
"Otherwise you have to run NAT and the firewall in the VPN server too and use private IPs for VPN clients - or use "only" it (remove the other NAT box and put it on the LAN only). Using only one device for NAT/gw means less configuration."
It is entirely unclear to me, in my setup, what effect turning on NAT on the VPN box (or perhaps, just IP forwarding) would have -- and if I do turn on NAT, would I still have the VPN assign IP's to clients in the internal private network's range, or would I use a different range (ie: private is 192.168.237.xxx, VPN assigns 192.168.239.xxx) and expect the NAT to handle the conversion?
I'm a bit leery of just trying it and seeing what happens because it if mucks things up so badly that the server becomes unreachable (via server admin), I'll have to schlep down to the office to fix it.
"Other things to consider is "bottlenecks" between your LAN and WAN."
Not a real issue. We have a small office, and a relatively small pipe to the internet. Most of the traffic from that pipe is from the public machines anyway. The traffic that goes through the wireless router is basically websurfing and hitting the mailserver.
I could, of course, use the VPN OS X machine as the NAT/DHCP server, and hang the wireless router off the internal network as a simple access point. But would that resolve all the VPN issues?
Once again, thanks for your helpful and prompt replies.

With the TC plugged by ethernet into the computer.. still in full isolation to the network and with factory reset.. you can do another to be sure.
Please open the network preferences.. and check the IP the ethernet is getting from the TC.
    It should be 10.0.1.2
I set it to this manually
Don't worry about all the rest.
If you open airport utility can it see the TC?
    YES
If not then I think you have a major network issue on the computer.
Assuming you can see the TC in airport utility.. go to manual setup and the disk tab. Does the disk register any issues.. SMART should show it has verified.
    Shows verified
    Now go to finder..
Mount the drive manually via the top menu.. Go.. Connect to server.
And type in the address.. SMB://10.0.1.1
Did NOT work, however 10.0.1.2 did
That should discover the drive and ask you for credentials which after a factory reset will just be public as the password. The drive should mount and you can then see it in finder.
Yes, but I have been able to do this with the IP address being set automatically
I would deliberately use SMB. The other alternative is AFP://10.0.1.1 but that seems to be more problematic at times..
Once mounted point TM to the drive and see if it can find it and start the backup.. if it fails I think you have need to use the A5 in pondini's troubleshooting and see what you can do.
It failed and A5 makes NO difference.
A drive that won't mount is obviously not going to work.
Pondini is welcome to make comments... sometimes my Mac terminology gets a bit loose.. !! My recent convert status is visible .. !!
My other solutions.. since these are fairly old products.. the TC is more than 3years in all likelihood so outside warranty.. get a USB drive and plug it into the Mac and use TM to backup to that. If that works.. I would erase the hard disk in the TC and start over with both computers.. you will need to backup the other computer before you erase of course. Erasing and starting over does seem to help.
If there are no other suggestions, I guess I will try erasing and starting over. Thank you both for ALL your advice.
