Hallo...
I am very new in the Final Cut Express... I import .MOV documents in my computer and then to a new Project in the FCE... I move to the viewer the pieces I want to create, then when I try to see them it reports me the PROBLEM " ONE OR MORE FRAMES....",
I import data from a Canon EOS 500D....
When I do the same in the Imovie it has no problem...
I read somewhere that "The two specifications are completely different. Your media is not support for editing in Final Cut. It's the wrong frame size, frame rate, and codec. The media should be converted to the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1280x720 29.97fps. You need to use a sequence preset that matches that. Apple does not support the use of USB drives with video applications."
I dont know what are all these... but I tried to change in the EASY SETUP of FCE everything and try it to see if something happens... IT HAS NOT Apple Intermediate Codec at 1280x720 29.97fps IN THE EASY SETUP....
I CANNOT UNDERSTAND.... I HAVE A CANON HD VIDEO MACHINE.... I JUST WANT TO IMPORT MY VIDEOS... MAKE SOME SIMPLE CHANGES, CREATE A VIDEO.... IN ORDER TO USE IT IN MY JOB... WHY IT IS SO HARD WITH FCE??????????????? IT DOES IT IN THE IMOVIE..... SO HERE WHAT IS THE PROBLEM....
AND IF SOMEONE WANT TO ANSWER PLEASE CONSIDER THAT I AM NEW IN THIS PROGRAM ... I AM GREEK AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND PERFECT ENGLISH.... SO BE SIMPLE AND EXPLAIN WITH SIMPLE STEPS HOW IS THE PROBLEM SOLVED....

What you read is absolutely correct. You need to use a conversion app, such as MPEG Streamclip (http://squared5.com) to convert the H.264 files from the Canon into Apple Intermediate Codec files, based on the frame rate and resolution you shot the footage in.

I have finally complete my movie.... now when I play it back there are two clips which produce this error message:
"One or more frames were dropped during playback"
It tells me I can:
"Turn off unlimited RT" (which is off)
"lower compression data rate" (no idea what that is)
"Close open sequences" (but Im working with the only one open)
"lowering preference for real-time audio tracks" (??)
"increase speed of system..."
Any suggestions on an easy fix? The clips worked before... I think it was when I added a transition that they stopped working. I took out the transition but nothing changed. I even tried to delete the clips and recreate them from the original source saved on my comp. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like your drive is fast enough? Are you playing back rendered material or unrendered? Are you using Unlimited RT or Safe RT?

I have been getting the message "Dropped frames were detected during the last capture attempt". I cant figure out what it is.
I have a Mac OS X version 10.4.11 Processor 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
2 external lacie disk drives, 1TB each
FCE Easy setup: all formats, Use: DV-NTSC
Sony DVcam HDV HVR-M15U Deck firewired to back of Mac
Can someone help?

Dropped frames during capture are typically a result of a slow disk setup.
Where is your Capture Scratch folder? (System Settings)
Are you external drives connected via Firewire also?
Often the internal drive (SATA) is much faster than the Firewire
interface. Try capturing to your internal, then moving to
the externals for editing and backup.

I have seen several normal downloads on this PC with XT SP3 so know what it looks like.
Have protection software running: DSL modem firewall on, windows firewall on, AD-Aware free, AVG virus free, Winpatrol free, SpyBot-SD Resident free
Also my notebook with Windows 7 allows downloads with same authentication.
I attempt download and ADE starts with download indicator which terminates prematurely, then get two error messages:

and when I select yes...

This can occur if a setting somewhere isn't allowing ADE to do what it
wants to do. The error message you included from ADE does not seem
complete, but I'll take a flier and 'assume' that the message is trying to
tell you that software on your machine is blocking at least a portion of

One or mor parameters were not specified for the subreport

I have a main report that has a sub report. It all seems to work fine, except that I get the error "One or mor parameters were not specified for the subreport" when the second page of the report is rendered. So I verifed that all the
parameters for both reports are setup correctly, looked at the data to see if it that was causing the issue, etc.... I found nothing.
Then I came across this article.

So I changed all the parameters on the sub report Available Values to none. Now it works without issues.
My problem is that the sub report needs to be run independently. By setting the Available Values to none, the user is unable to select values for the parameters. This is not acceptable.
I suppose I could create a duplicate report to use as the sub report, with all the Available Values set to none for the parameters, but that means I need to maintain two reports instead of one.
This has to be a bug.
Anyone come across this situation?

Sorry for the delay.
Based on my test, the error message hints that either the report parameter has not been passed from the main report to the subreport or that the wrong format of report parameter or an unacceptable value for the report parameter has been passed from the main
report to the subreport.
When passing the parameter from the main report to subreport, we can grant the parameter to Available values in the subreport. While the values passed should be contained by Available values of the parameter in the subreport. In this case, the error won't occur.
In other words, the parameter in the subreport can contain Available values.

Dropped Frame Error Message During Playback in Snow Leopard

I have FCE 4.0.1 and I just recently upgraded to 10.6.1 and now I keep getting these error messages during playback saying Dropped Frames. Its telling me to try lowering my audio playback quality, increase my ram, etc.. Before I upgraded to Snow Leopard I never got these errors. I have a 8 core Mac Pro with more than enough ram and hard drive space and again this wasn't happening until I upgraded. Can someone assist and tell me why this is happening and what can fix this issue.

You can try trashing your preferences and rebooting and repairing permissions and running Disk Utility, the usual maintenance suggestions, but I think the real issue is the OS and software installation, and the only way to fix that is to redo it.

Major mail problem: "One or more recipient address was invalid"

I had my iPhone 3G for 2 weeks now. I have been experiencing some major e-mail problems - basically, I cannot send e-mails to anyone except myself. When I type in my address (the same one that I send an e-mail from) it all goes well. When I type any other valid one, it does not get through. I keep on getting a pop-up message "Cannot send mail: One or more recipient address was invalid" - even though the addresses *are, actually, valid*.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Happens both with usual e-mails and with pic forwarding. Many thanks for your help.

I'm using a POP account. Still - I can send to myself, can't send anywhere else.
Might try deleting the account and then configuring it again. Hope it helps.
And yeah, I have the latest software.

WVC80N Monitoring Utility Software- Freezes after one or two frames. Tech support no help!

I have a new WVC80N cam and a new WRT230N router. After installing both, everything is up and running perfectly via IE. I can access from any IE computer with no problems. HOWEVER, the desktop monitoring utility will NOT work! I only have one cam attached (wired because the sound it TERRIBLE if wireless despite HOURS of troubleshooting with tech support) but it freezes after one or two frames. I've tried on XP and Vista. Tech Support in Irvine, CA simply siad there is a software conflict (and that there are many they know of), but offered NO other diagnostic help. He simply said it's probably conflicting with another video compression software on my computer and to start uninstlling programs until the problem is fixed! WAY TO GO TECH SUPPORT....THATS A REAL SOLUTION FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! Oh and he asked me to notify them IF I found the problem!!!!
Does anyone have any ideas about common software that may be causing my conflicts? Or has anyone experienced the same issues? There isn't much on these boards about this problem and I can't believe that I'm the only one who has experienced the utility software NOT working on TWO different computers and two Operating systems. These are my first linksys products in a VERY long time, and so far they'll be my last!!!!!!!!
ANY HELP/IDEAS is GREATLY appreciated.

Your problem is exactly my problem. I tried both Windows Xp and 7. I can see live video, but the utility only record for a few second and freeze. There is no tech support in my country - cambodia, so I'm in a more serious situation. I also need help. May be I should tried from a fresh windows installation, but what is it good for. It takes lot of time to reinstall everything. Your comments do suggest some software conflict. I think I will try it on my laptop rather than my desktop, which I do not have lot of software installed on my laptop.

The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video of these media files to be out of cync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape

Most likely because the material was shot with a 32k sample rate and your capture preset is 48k.

Drop frame error message during playback

HELP! There is absolutely NO reason this should be happening. My time line will playback for about a minute or two and I get this error message about dropped frames (lower your real-time playback, close open sequences, etc. blah, blah).
I'm editing a HD 720P60fps project, with no files to render. My output settings are correct for my HD flat screen and my reference monitor. I'm using a Matrox MXo2 box for my A/V input/output, with the latest version of software, etc. SDI out to my reference and HDMI to my Panasonic Plasma.
I'm totally stumped at this point. any help will do. Usually easy set-up works every time, but it hasn't so far...thanks.
I have an Intel G5 Mac. Version 10.5.6 of Leopard. 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor. 10 GB of 800 Mhz ram.

You gave us a lot of information, but not where the media is stored. What sort of hard drives are you storing this media on? That is a HUGE factor in dropped frames issues.

I'm having the following message when tiring to download an ebook from the library. Can anyone give me a solution to this problem?

Contacted Adobe support who gave me a list of instructions which included uninstalling Digital Editions, deleting registry files, deleting ebook files (after saving them elsewhere), emptying trash folder and rebooting (unfortunately this didn't work).
However when I carried out a simple system restore (start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore) and went back to a restore point before I had authorised Digital Editions this worked and I was able to access all my ebooks again.

Frame Rate drops during encode

I am trying to encode from 720x480 to 640x360. I obviously
have to re-size, and I deinterlace too. I want 30 fps, and when I
start my encode, it ramps up to 30, but then about 5 sec in, it
starts dropping, down to about 14 fps. I can raise the fps by
declaring my source footage as 640x360 and drop the resize
proccesing and deinterlacing, but this also looks bad b/c of the
interlacing. I think my underpowered cpu is to blame, 1.7 gh
processor, 1 Gb ram, but I don't have any confirmation to that. Any

We're running into similar issues. We find we get the best
results downsizing a 720x480 capture from our camera to a smaller
window from a quality perspective. We're using a dual processor
2.4GHZ server with 4GB of ram and can only sustain about 22-23 fps.
How is everyone streaming larger display sizes than 320x240
while maintaining top quality video?

Apple TV keeps dropping during playback.

This is a real problem as home sharing is now the backbone of media entertainment and the playback dropouts can occur 2 or 3 times in a 40 min playback

Can you be more specific on the issue? By dropping do you mean the stream pauses? The device shuts off ? Is this content from iTunes ? Netflix or ther service? Home sharing ? Airplay?

Freezing video during playback HELP!

I have a problem with video freezing for a split second on playback of DVD. I finished two projects (44 min and 32 min) on G4 dual processor, then moved over to new G5 with FCP Studio...upgrade. I finished editing and then went to export using compressor, then import into DVDSP. When I play on several diff players, the video freezes for 1/3 of a second about a minute into the first video and about 16 sec into the second video...they were compressed at 90min best quality DVD 4:3 in compressor, AC3 2.0 dolby audio, and both put on the same DVD, with final size at 4.2 gig, burning on HP 8x media. What am I doing wrong? I previously had burned a DVD with the first 44 min version on my G4 with no problems! I just want to be able to use my new machine...
Someone mentioned to ouput a MPEG2 file out of FCP5 first, instead of exporting into compressor...I tried to do this but got an error that my DVD SP has to be serialized first to output MPEG2 ...I purchased a FCP Studio upgrade...shouldn't it already be serialized? Or maybe I don't know what that means...anyway
By the way, what happened to the DVD 60 min best quality encoding in compressor that was in the earlier version?
Someone else mentioned to use toast to burn....but how do I get my FCP to ouput MPEG2 as a quicktime conversion? Or do I have to output a FCP movie and then import into Toast? (I am waiting for my Toast to come in the mail)

Start by updating your OS to at least 10.4.9 and install QuickTime 7.2.
The 7.2 update fixes many G4 playback issues.
