Problem opening after crash - "compatible catalogs on your computer"?
I am using 2.3 and just had a few crashes. After the last crash, when I try to launch, I get the message,
"Lightroom 2 has found compatible catalogs on your computer. Would you like to upgrade an existing catalog or open Lightroom with a new catalog?"
I don't see any guidance as to how to bring up my existing catalog. I do see a file I've not noticed before, Lightroom 2 Catalog.lrcat-journal, in my catalog folder, and a Lightroom 2 Catalog.lrcat.lock file. Do I need perhaps to reboot my WinXP Pro system? Thanks.
Dilip
I just tried double clicking on the catalog file itself and think things are working okay now, though I got a message that I dismissed and restarted LR - asking if I want automatic updates turned on or something, as if it were a fresh install. How can I verify that all is robust? Thanks.

Error: Cannot open SharePoint Workspace. Try restarting your computer.
Several of our Windows 7 SP1 workstations get the following message on Windows startup. The message simply reads: "SharePoint Workspace Error: Cannot open SharePoint Workspace. Try restarting your computer. Click here for more information."
When you click on the link, it takes you to:
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/927909/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0
We've gone through the steps on the above link, but we're still having the problem. I've seen this question posted elsewhere on the 'Net, but there's no answer given.
Your help is appreciated. Thank you.I had a user with a similar issue. In their C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Groove\System directory you should find two files titled groovebinaryfilestore.xss and groovebinaryfilestore.xssr. After running a repair on their
Office install, I renamed these two files to 1groovebinaryfilestore.xss and 2groovebinaryfilestore.xssr. After renaming the files I launched SharePoint WorkSpace without error as it created the new binary stores. -
I'm trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro. I went through the process of bootcamp telling it to install windows 7. Once the windows boot manager started an error message came up. The error message says " windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. I don't have a usb connected to my computer. I am using windows 7 professional install disc. I can't figure out what i am doing wrong. The same message keeps coming up over and over. Am I doing something wrong or is it something else?
Well, shucks, i just spent almost 30 minutes trying to find your model user guide to explain it better, I guess they never got around to making it.....
I would just borrow another Windows disk and try installing it again and if it does it again then you might take it to an Apple Store and see if one of the "Genius' " can figure it out.
Make sure your internet is enabled and click on your blank desktop and at the top of your screen is a Help menu option, enter PRAM and it should give you a list of things relating to Pram. It may take a few seconds to list anything as it has to connect to Apples severs first. It should list the things you may have to fill back in when your done.
"P-ram" stores some common information that is used in the background, your date, time, startup disk, etc, that you don't have to re-fill when you restart, it's a little different for each computer. -
Pages won't open after I downloaded some of your updates. HELP
Pages won't open after I downloaded some Apple Updates
First, we are all just users like yourself so it's not "your" updates. Which updates have you applied & in what order?
Quite a few users have had problems. From what I've read of those who have had success, this is what I suggest. It all depends on how you obtained Pages in the first place.
If you bought Pages from the Mac App Store:
Delete the Pages.app from your Applications folder. You will need to enter your password to do so.
Launch Mac App Store & click on Purchases. You should now see an INSTALL button. Click that, enter your password, if necessary, & you should now have the latest version.
If you installed Pages from a retail box or purchased a license from the downloaded trial:
First, you must make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. All three applications must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
Now, choose Software Update from the Apple menu, from System Preferences or launch the Mac App Store & click Updates. You should get a window similar to this screenshot. Now click the Update button next to iWork 9.2.
Alternatively, you can download the standalone update here. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563 -
I just downloaded CS6 Master Collection on my new mac. When I want to open After Effects I get this message: "After Effects warning: there are multiple copies og plug-in effects "3D Camera Tracker" on your drive. To avoid problems, quit After Effects and move or delete the older or uneeded version(s)".
If I click OK, it continues with all the plug-in effects, and I have to force clising to get it away.
I don´t have any older version, so what shall I do?This has nothing to do with an "older version". The camera tracker was only introduced in CS6. Check the relevant program and MediaCore folders for duplicates that may have been introduced by a busted install or whatever.
Important Directories
In case of doubt run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, delete the Adobe folders entirely and reinstall with a clean slate.

Why will Photoshop CS4 not open after loading to new iMac from an external hard drive and I get this message: Licensing for this product has stopped working:error code: 150:30
A Photoshop installation is tied to the machine it was installed on. Moving it to or from a hard drive breaks the licensing.
The answer is easy: Reinstall CS4 from your disc. and apply all updates.

Please help! I have just done the new update for numbers and uploaded Mavericks, but Numbers now doesn't open and says.....do the new update to open. I have......really need this for work, so any help gratefully received!
ThanksHi dj,
Numbers '09 is still on your computer. In a folder called 'Work '09 inside your Applications folder. If you can't find it, use Spotlight to search.
This might get you by until your problem is solved.

Below is a link to a thread about apple devices not being recognized in itunes or on their computer, it is worth a look and hopefully may help some others as it did for me....Thank you also to iGaulois who added even more valuable information and simplifying the process...
https://discussions.apple.com/message/16652131#16652131Lightroom should recognize your camera (assume it's LR3 or later) automatically without pointing it to the DCIM directory. The files you are referring to is system file I think and not the photos; thus OS cannot read the file.
Do you have a card reader? For some reason, if you connect your camera into Lightroom directly, sometimes LR doesn't show the preview of your images. Instead you'll get ? next to a gray box. If you don't have a card reader, just plug your camera in, ignore the ? and the gray box (this is LR problem, not your camera), then import them anyway. You should see your test shot once it's done importing.

Freqent "Your computer restarted because of a problem" after sleep wake up
After wake up from sleep (eg. at the morning, when I'm starting to work) my MacBook Pro Retina is often restarted at the login screen and after logged in, appears window "Your computer restarted because of a problem". It happens about 3-4 times per week and its really anoying.
specs:
- MacBook Pro Retina 15", Late 2013
- cpu 2,3Ghz i7
- ram 16GB
- gf 750m nvidia 2gb
- ssd 500GB
- Mac OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
I thought it was because of nonstop running Parallels (with Win7), but its not (I closed it before sleep). Except Safari, I have allways running following 3rd party apps: Chrome, Thunderbird, Sublime text 2, Transmit, Tweetbot, MS Excel, MS Word, Droplr, Roboform, Viber, Dropbox and Razer Synapse mouse software.
I tried safe mode and disk tool to check and repair drive. Still restarting after wake up from sleep freqently.
Plz help, I'm disappointed because everybody says, that MacOS X is more stable and better OS then Windows. This never happend to me on Windows 7 for years :-(
I'm attaching whole message from problem report:
(according to this report, it may be something with usb, but it happend with no plugged usb too)

I suggest you back up all data and then remove the software according to the developer's instructions. Restart and see whether there's an improvement. If there isn't, post your results.

Your computer shut down because of a problem. Mac grey screen
Recently I have been having issues with my Mac.
The computer will freeze for no apparent reason and the screen goes ever so slightly blue, then crashes to grey screen - 'Your computer has shut down... blah blah blah' and then it restarts itself and i get a kernel panic (Below is the msot recent one).
At christmastime I installed extra RAM which could be a problem but I think the problem occurs when using Google Chrome. I have tried to switch to Safari for the time being to see if that eliminates the problem but I did use Chrome at some point today.
I believe that I lasted longer without the problem while I was using Safari.
Any help reading the panic log would be appreciated!
Cheers
As I was writing this (on Safari) the screen went completely black and restarted to the grey screen

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have not already, I would recommend removing the additional RAM and seeing if the issue persists. See this article for more information:
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4636
Check internal RAM and third-party hardware
Turn off your Mac.
Reseat the Apple RAM, and remove third-party RAM and third-party internal hardware. If you do not have the Apple RAM that came with the system, reseat the third-party RAM.
Turn on your Mac.
Use your Mac for the amount of time it would usually take for a kernel panic to occur.
If the kernel panic does not occur: The third-party RAM or internal third-party hardware may need to be replaced.
If a kernel panic does occur: Bring your Mac to an Apple Store, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service and support. Be sure to ask that, if the drive needs reformatting or replacing, they contact you about escalating your case to a special data recovery service. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail store, you can make a reservation (available in some countries only).
Best,
Jeremy

The topic summary pretty much says it all. Although my paragraphs are formatted within RoboHelp, properly separated, with an enter I believe, when the document is printed these empty lines are gone and the paragraphs are right up against each other.
