Problem opening all iWorks

I can not open any of my iWoks programs. I recently did a clean instal of OSX Lion and now all of my iWorks programs won't open, I ger the following message,
"Numbers can not be opened because of a problem, Check with the developer to make sure numbers works with this version of OSX. You may need to reinstal the application. Be sure to instal any available updates of the application and OSX."
I did try for updates and none were avilable, I also reinstaled iWorks 9. Same problem.
Any suggestions?

Happily, there is no preferences file dedicated to iWork in the System folder (which by definition is reserved to System items).
The iWork preferences files are :

    Try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

    If restoring using a backup doesn't help, try restoring the iPhone to factory settings and try for a while with just the Apple-included apps, to make sure it's not an issue with a third-party app. If it still has problems, it may have a hardware problem and will need to be sent to Apple.

  • Problems opening all programs!

    Every program I open does not respond immediately. The spinning wheel always appears. Why is this occuring? Is it the battery? I have force quit all programs that were open hoping this may solve the probelm but it hasn't worked. Any ideas?

    this situation could be due to either a software problem, a hardware problem, or a combination of the two; let’s presume for the moment that it’s due solely to a software problem.
    Try booting your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Do you still get the perpetual spinning wheel?

    The document might be corrupt. If you worked on this particular document at all in the iWorks in iCloud.com beta, that may have caused a problem. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can rule that out as a possibility.
    In any event, you could try opening the documents in iCloud.com using your computer, and see if you can download it to the computer, edit it there and then upload it again.

    Maybe the document is corrupted. Can you open other Pages documents? Preview may open it. Right click (or control click) on the document in Finder and Open With > Preview.
    If that works, Edit > Select All, Edit > Copy. Then paste into a blank Pages document. Formatting may be messed up, but you will have editable text. Then Save (with a different name), close and see if you can open the new document.

  • Upgrading to the Lion & reinstall again from iWork, the Pages 4.1 worked, however, now every time I open a Page file it keeps opening all the page files

    After upgrading to Lion the Pages didn't respond to it. So, I reinstalled the Pages 4.1 from iWork. It worked. However, eversince every time I try open a new or exsisting page file it opens all the pages files that I worked on it last several days or a week.  Suddenly many page files on the desktop!  Kind of confusing... Can someone help with this issue... Thanks

    This issue can be caused by the ASK.com Toolbar.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • All iwork application are slow to open and crash

    Hello,
    I have just bought the latest iMac together with iWork09 (in the dvd box)
    I did not encounter any problem with installation of iWork but
    when I open either keynote, numbers or pages, it takes ages before the application opens.
    In fact the imac goes into endless loop. I see the circle coloured pointer for minutes and i have to force the exit
    I have also tried to delete the iwork09 folder and installed it again.
    I have the same problem.
    What shall I do?

    As Badunit said, your system likely isn't updated even though it is brand new. There are two things to do that solve a lot of problems with the iWork ’08 &/or ’09 apps in Snow Leopard.
    First, use the Mac OS 10.6.4 combo updater. This fixes a problem with fonts that is not fixed using the delta update (10.6.1 > 10.6.2). You can apply the combo update even though your system is already on 10.6.4.
    Second, make sure your iWork applications are updated. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.4 & Numbers 2.0.4. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
    Also, deleting the program's preference list is the #1 trouble-shooting step with any misbehaving application. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist, empty the Trash & then restart Pages. Repeat with Numbers & Keynote. This needs to be done for each user.
