Problem opening D700 nef files with ACR 4.6

Hi there,
I am running PS CS3 on a Mac with OS 4.11. I have just down loaded the beta version of adobe camera raw 4.6 - normally I don't down load betas but I am desperate to work on my D700 files in PS CS3. And I still can't open the RAW files...ACR 4.6 won't recognize the 'NEFs'...I have followed the instructions about replacing the plug in as per the release notes. Yet I still can't open the files. I love PS, please help.

Ok I went to the location and found this:
mac/library/application support/adobe/plug-ins/cs3/file formats/dng_cameraraw_4-6_091708.dmg
It turns out that it was here all along - I put in camera raw as two words and not one when I asked the finder and I put the exact name of the camera raw update so you can see it.
I must still be doing something wrong as its still not reading the NEFs from either my Nikon D700 or the NEFs from a D200 that I had before I switched to the D700.
I will go and check the path again - I do not know what else to do.

Problems opening & resaving NEF files with CS3/CS2

I seem to be having problems sending my NEF files to Photoshop from Aperture. This started happening just today & I'm not sure what to do.
What happens is that when I open a NEF file in external editor, instead of just opening up as a psd file in CS3 or CS2 directly like it used to do, it now opens Adobe Raw instead which means that I am unable to resave back into my Aperture Library. Is there anyone who has experienced this as well? Any suggetions as to the cause and a solution? I tried checking preferences for both Aperture as well as Photoshop but nothing seems to work.
The only thing I can think of is having just updated Adobe Raw to the latest version, 4.3 I think. Other than that Aperture did start up about a week ago & declared my library corrupt & proceeded to rebuild my library. Other than that it was behaving normally until today. Its really irritating & counter productive to be unable to resave my edits in Aperture.
Any help or suggestions will be very welcome indeed. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip Eduardo, but I checked the preferences and they seem to be correct.
It seems that only images in certain projects were affected. Could be the ones that Aperture rebuilt earlier. I guess I may have to try exporting the raw files from the affected projects, then deleting and reimporting the projects again. I did try to rebuild the thumbnails but it doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try before I do this?

For the time being, shoot JPEG images. At this time there is no support for NEF files from the D7200 in any Adobe product. It was released at such a time that it wasn't included in the last Camera Raw update. And Lightroom hasn't been updated either. Consequently, there is no DNG converter available at this time. We will have to wait and see what programs will be able to accommodate the D7200 when Adobe releases updates or upgrades that support the camera.

Is it happening with all the PDF' or any specific one?
Could you please share the error message so that we can replicate at our end ?
Try repairing reader once and see if that fixes the issue.
Launch Reader>Navigate to Help>Repair Adobe Reader Installation

Lightroom 1.4 - problem opening up NEF files

Hi there,
I've been having problems opening up NEF files in Lightroom 1.4, a message keeps coming up saying that the file is not recognised. I'm using a MacBook Pro and can't get a solution - can someone please advise on the best course of action?

I don't think that one is supported in LR 1.4. The camera was released after LR 1.4 was released. To get support for that camera, either upgrade to LR 2 or convert the NEF files to dng using the free DNG converter that you can download from http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/

Problem opening original iPhoto files with Yosemite

On my iMac I have Yosemite. iPhoto works but iPhoto Original apps in Applications will not open. Told to update but I have and iPhoto is now

Nikon D7000 needs ACR 6.3 in order to work with PSE 9
This camera will not work with PSE 8 but with PSE 9 , yes it will work if ACR 6.3 or greater is installed.
Please open editor in PSE 9
Goto help >> About plugin>> Camera raw
check the version of the camera raw, if its less than 6.3, click updates in the help menu and once is updated, raw file will open without any issues

I am having problems opening my .nef files after updating to LR 4.4.

My previews are tagged with an ! and prompt a "this file cannot be read due to an error' when in Develop mode

This is possible from with in Lr4.4 there is absoultely no need for what you are suggesting.

Cannot open my NEF files in Photoshop CS6 from my new Nikon D800 camera.

That's it, I Cannot open my NEF files in Photoshop CS6 Camera Raw from my new Nikon D800 camera. What am I doing wrong or what is wrong? I have the plug-in Camera Raw 7. and can open TIFF files but not the NEF files.

to explain the scenario, i am basically a D7000 user and I do post production with Windows computer. But for an assignment I have hired D800, they have provided me their SD memory card. I have used the same memory card while shooting.
I have transferred the NEF files from the camera using Nikon software. The transfer was successful but i am not able to open the Raw NEF file with ACR. Even my plugins are updated till date.
The NEF thumbnails are having small lock logo in the bottom left corner. I do not know what does that mean. Like this.
Kindly let me know what would be the prob? if my RAW files are corrupted kindly let me know how will I recover them?

CS won't open my NEF files taken on my Nikon D3100.

I have CS and have no problem openning my nef files taken with my D70. I just bought a D
3100 and the NEF files will not open. I get an error saying it's not the right file type. Does anyone know
why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

I found out the hard way, that I had to see if I had the latest version of the camera raw, which is for the cs. Odds are that your version is not support, you will have to go the dng route or you will have to upgrade your software to the latest version.

Yes, you can. You just need to update your Camera Raw plug-in to version 4.6, which is the last version to run with CS3.

Can't export NEF files with sidecar so it opens in Bridge

Hi there,
I've been able to do it in the past, as I can look at previous images in the Bridge and view them as NEF files with the sidecar so the edits are written on the files and it also includes all the metadata.
But for the lastest new set of images (of a friend's wedding :/ ) I'm struggling to export them so I can view them in Bridge. They will export, the sidecar is also there, but when I open in Bridge, it doesn't open them, and no metadata is saved to the file. I'm not sure if I've forgotten to do something or if I have to start all over again, and there's an issue with the Catalogue/Collection that I might or might not have set up when I first imported them (I didn't set one up to start with, but when I was having issues exporting them, I did create a collection and set and they're sitting in there now).
Can anyone help?

I've just tried exporting is as a DNG (I didn't want to roiginally do that as I wanted to avoid converting the images where possible), but I've just done it and they're now openable in Bridge, so hurrah.
Decision made. DNG is it for all files going forward.

I have Photoshop CS5.5 Design Premium and need to open Nikon NEF files.
I just downloaded the plug in for CS5.5 and it does not work. I put the Camera Raw.8bi file in the correct location as specifiec in the "read me" file.
Can someone guide me on how to do this, adn make it work?

so far no luck.
I ran DNG program for Windows (I have Win 8) and ran the menu to convert
the files on the same memory card from the camera.   Of 135 files, the
status column for the first 68 files said "converted," but the for all the
rest, it says "There was an error writing the file."
Of the files that "converted," they do not open, and I get the same error
message as before: "Could not complete your request because it is not the
right kind of document."
So, what a mess.
I get conflicting indications of the version of Photoshop I have. When i
click "About Photoshop in the Help menu, it says CS5 Extended.    The Error
message for the dng files says CS5.1 Extended. Does it make a difference?
I've been at this three hours now. It's a pain.   For many years I had no
problem with NEF files, as I had installed the plug-in as required. This
time it is not working. So I am not new to this.
