Problem opening embedded docs in Word 2011

I recently upgraded my business workstation to a Mac. For docs I am using Microsoft Word 2011. I received a doc from a colleague (PC) who embedded docs in the the document. In this particular case they were pdfs. These were embedded as objects. In the past all I needed to do was double click and the object opened as the document. Now that I am on a Mac, when I try to open the pdf opject, I get the following message: 'Word cannot locate the server application for ArchExch.Document.7 objects.' How do I acess these embedded documents? Many of my clients use a PC. I'd rather not have to buy a PC Word and open via parallels. It will get very complicated.

It used to be possible in Word 2003 for Mac.
However, I found the solution to this myself right now. In order to indent an entire paragraph, you indent the second line of a paragraph, using the Tab-key. This will indent the entire thing. A stupid, silly thing to change, but at least this works.

Why can't close open multiple docs in Word 2010 in multiple windows while having the option to close them out while keeping Word open?

End User of mine is wanting to open multiple docs in Word 2010.....first initial glance I thought it was a PICNIC issue. But when addressing it she has it set up to NOT "Show all windows in the taskbar" that option is unchecked so that way she
can close out docs in Word and not actually close Word. But with unchecking that box it only stacks the docs it won't display them in mutliple windows. This is not the case with Excel as she has the option enabled to "Show all windows in the taskbar"
but yet the enduser still has the option to close out the spreadsheet and keep Excel open. Is there anyway to keep that second smaller x in Word to close out the docs but yet open in multiple windows like Excel does?
Please advise!

What will happen if you check the option of “Show all windows in the taskbar”?
If you want to closing document and keep Word open, the alternative is to click File > Close, right there under Open and Save.
You also can add the Close button to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Endless loop on file opening issue in MS Word 2011 pro on Mac OS Mavericks

MS Word 2011 Pro on Mac OS Mavericks.
The problem:
When open Word (Office 2011 on Mac), it will start opening all previous files on the mac until it crashes with error. The problem duplicates when force quite MS Word. Reinstall Office 2011 won't fix it. Deleting com.microsoft.word.plist won't help. No duplicated
fonts in Fron Book. Did not know what caused this problem. Excel works fine. This is a problem only appeared on Word so far.
Any help is appreciated.

Problems opening Google Docs

I have a 3G blackberry with 6.0 OS.
I have a little problem with blackberry browser. I tried to open google docs. I found a good mobile site but when I try to open a page i can't view all the page. I can view only on the up-left of the page... i can't go right or down.
I don't think it's a google problem. I have the same problem with ATM Mobile (an application to see metros of Milan). When i try to see maps of metros I can't scroll the (probably) jpeg image of the maps (a vertical image. I can see up o down but not the middle of the image).
Why there is a problem like this in a good smartphone like it?

Google Docs is not an application. It is just a web page. If you want to open a true attachment with Google Docs, you have to upload it. Normally, documents that originate in Google Docs are shared via a link to the document in Google Docs. If you want to open true attachments, you need an application that can handle the data.

Problem with Tab-button in Word 2011

I recently bought a new Macbook Air with Mountain Lion and Office 2011 for Mac, and I'm really unhappy. Nothing is the way it should be. Everything has been "upgraded" and changed for the worse.
For instance, in Word 2011 I can't select an entire paragraph and indent it by just pressing the Tab-key. Pressing the Tab-key makes the paragraph disappear. I also can't un-indent a line by pressing the backspace-key, like I used to be able to.
Why am I not allowed to do this anymore, and how can I get it back?

Pages problem opening up a Microsoft Word document??!!!

Hi all,
I have just purchased iWork'08 and I have a question about Pages. I do not know anything about Office programs, apart from how to write basic letters in Word! I decided to go with iWork'08 as I love Apple and wanted to give Apple's office suite a try.
As I have said previously, I don't know anything about Pages. My problem is that I have a Resume in the .DOC format, which I created previously in Microsoft Word years ago when I was a Windows user. I have not had any problems with it though, even when I moved to Mac, because I was using NeoOffice. Now though, when I am using Pages, once I open up my Resume, I get a message from Pages telling me the following: Some Problems Occurred, Type: Import Warning, Description: Document backgrounds aren't supported and were removed.
This information appears in it's own box when I open the document up and indeed, the document is not formatted as it is supposed to, as it is in Microsoft Word or NeoOffice. Why is this, what is going on and most importantly, how do I make Pages just show the document as it supposed to be shown??? I was told it was compatible with Microsoft Word documents, but it is not doing a good job with them so far!!! Please help!!

Tables! Why did it have to be tables? (Excuse me for channeling Indiana Jones there.)
I've had some luck with fixing imported table formatting in Pages by first making the borders and inside dividers visible. Select a table after opening the inspector and selecting the tables tab. Find the Cell Borders buttons and select each one, then click on the pop-up button below and select the Thin line. Do this for each table.
Now that you can see the lines and the text inside each cell you can begin cleaning up. There will likely be 2 problems: vertical cell borders won't align down the page and some text will be too big to fit inside. You may also find that not all the tables align to the left side of the page
Step 0: if the tables don't align to the left side of the page, fix that
Step 1: reduce the text size - you may have to choose a new font
Step 2: align the vertical borders

Hi, We have a problem opening email attachments, specifically word, when the mail is sent from an Entourage client.

It seems the mail is sent in plain text and when I try to open the attachment on my phone i just get a screen with the document name and type. If I send a plain text mail from my outlook client with the same attachment then this works fine.
Is there anything I can do to make these attachments open on my iPhone?

What about a work-around?
Ios 7.1 etc. has a problem with communicating with exchange. There are lots of reports of problems with pdf files.

Open embedded object in Word via a hyperlink

I have a Word document with embedded PDF files. I would like to create a hyperlink (or maybe a button), that when click opens the embedded PDF. Used the hyperlik option, but it just takes you to the location of the Word document where the embedded PDF

Right-click the embedded object. On the context menu, click the Object command, and then click Convert. In the dialog box, select “Display as icon.”

Can you provide better steps and clarify what version of Word this will work for? I don't see the options you mentioned in Word 2013.

Problem opening Google docs after upgrade to Safari 7.1

I was using these spreadsheets and documents just fine until the last upgrade to 7.1
Now the pages start to load and then flash on and off, will not hold on the screen and finally display an error message: "A problem repeatedly occurred with __docname___" The only option given is to "Reload Page" which results in the same error message.
How can I get back into working with these Google docs?

Problem opening PDF Docs. Can anyone help?

Hi , I have a Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and Adobe Reader is installed. But when I try to open a PDF doc , I get a message stating I have to install Adobe Reader. Of course when try to do this I get a message stating its already installed. So I am in a catch 22 situation. Can anyone help me please? Lewis

Problem with embedded links in Word 2001

Hi,
I have searched many forums but can't find any answers to this. I hope you can help me.
I work with image files and text, and have made links from within Word files to the .jpg files I need. This was very easy to do in my old PowerMac G4 running OS 9.2.
Although I now work normaly in OS X, I still need to work in those Word 2001 files in Classic because I use a special font and some of the characters don't display correctly in OS X.
When I moved the files from the old computer to the new Powerbook, I assumed all links would be broken and would have to be edited but, to my surprise, all the links worked just fine when I run Word 2001 in Classic (the links' paths are still the old ones, from the old computer, but they work nevertheless) - I wonder how...
They don't work in Word 2004 but I never expected them to.
The problem is trying to edit or create hyperlinks now, in Word 2001.
If I change or create a link, it works just fine just as long as I don't quit Word.
When I relaunch Word 2001 and reopen the file, as soon as I point the cursor to the link, Word quits. I've done it enough times in a row for Classic to quit as well.
Is there a way to make links work in Word 2001?

I know that all fullscreen videos are flexible to both orientation. What´s happens here is before show your vertical layout the viewer shows the vertical video. You need to try in custom app...Produce an IPA file and test it.
Maybe be a bug...

Opening pages doc in word

If I have opened a word document via windows in Pages and made changes to it, can I then open that document again in word, via windows?

Bad and good news. First, the bad: Pages saves its documents in a proprietary format that can only be viewed by Pages. Since Pages only runs on Macs, Windows users are out of luck. Now the good news: from within Pages, you can click on File > Export > Word (or PDF or RTF) so that Windows users can use them, too.

Cannot open embedded PDF in word 2003

When I embed a PDF into a word document I get the following error when I try to open it.
The server application, source file, or item cannot be found
When I send this document to others they can open the PDF
Any suggections?

I am assuming you are using RoboHelp for Word. If so, you cannot embed files into your word source documents. Instead add the pdf as a baggage file, then on the word source add a link to the pdf file. After you compile the file, the user looking at help will click the link to open the pdf. If you are distributing the help on a server, make sure you include the pdf file. The server you place the pdf file on must also have a pdf viewer configured.

Problems opening PDF docs in AI CC

This is frustrating.
I print an e-mail as a PDF I want to edit in Illustrator CC. I'm on win 7 x64. The PDF displays fine in Nitro Pro PDF viewer.
But in Illustrator I get:
I end up going to PS CC and it renders it fine, but not editable. Any ideas how to fix this?

When you open a PDF with live Type (editable text) in Illy, you need to have (all) the font(s) installed.

Problem Opening Pages Docs

I am using Pages 5.5.1 on my iMac, running OS X 10.10.1. All of a sudden, when I try to open a saved Pages document, I get a message, "couldn't be opened. The required index.xml file is missing." Sometimes, Pages then quits. The only workaround I have found is to select the document, click "Open With" and select Pages 5.5.1, but I shouldn't have to do that constantly. Anyone have any suggestions for a permanent fix?

You have both Pages '09 and Pages 5.5.1 on your MAc and are alternately opening your documents with the wrong version.
Pages 5.5.1 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
Open with the correct version by right click > Open With…
You will find Pages 5.5.1 is missing over 100 features and is incompatible with everything but itself and Yosemite/iOS 8.
