Problem opening Itunes after installing

Recently, I had to run a system restore on my computer to get around a bunch of viruses. I had to install Itunes all over again and now it won't open. If I try to open Itunes, the error box just pops up to say "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close". I've re-installed it and tried again but no luck. Help?

Uninstall QuickTime then download the file again and reinstall QuickTime. iTunes needs a functional QuickTime in order to operate properly. I had the same error, and iTunes has been working fine.

I do not know what to tell you. iTunes is working fine on my system. What don't you give a little information about your system and when this problem began on your mac.

We cannot open iTunes after installing it. When we click on the icon the licensing agreement comes up and we click Agree but then nothing happens.  Each time we click the icon the agreement comes up.  We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but we have the exact same problem.

Refer to steps to remove SC files here:

Then proceed to repair your QuickTime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / highlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • Eror when trying to open ITunes after installing

I get this error when I try and open iTunes immediately after installing it on my new Windows Vista pc. Please help.
"The folder itunes can not be found or created and is required. the default location for this folder is in side the My music folder."
    HP   Other OS   Vista

"The folder itunes can not be found or created and is required. the default location for this folder is in side the My music folder."
the interesting complication here is that you're getting this in Vista, rather than XP. since it's typically associated with a Registry problem on the PC, i'd proceed with extreme caution if you tried to adapt the standard techniques. (i'm honestly not sure if TweakUI is even compatible with Vista.)
anyhoo, all these caveats being mentioned, the standard place to start with one of these in XP is with the following document:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes
... and, in XP, the standard thing to try if you run into the complication where My Music doesn't appear as an option in TweakUI is the alternate procedure from this Nigel Carpenter post:
    Nigel Carpenter: re: Itunes problem
whether or not these work in Vista will depend on how the registry is structured there. if any expert on cross-OS Registry comparison could weigh in at this point, i'd be most obliged.

  • Problems opening iTunes after installation - "QuickTime was not Found"

I am having trouble opening iTunes. Both iTunes and Quick time will download and install and I can open QuickTime without a problem, but when I open iTunes, I get the following error:
Open iTunes and an error opens:
"QuickTime was not found. QuickTime is required to run iTunse. Please uninstall iTunes and then install iTunes again."
I only have trouble when I am at home and not connected to my work network. I was able to start iTunes yesterday while in the office, but all my music is on my external hard drive at home. Not helpful!
I have tried about everything - uninstalled, reinstalled itunes and quick time, disabled bonjour, disabled the startup files, etc. I am still not having any luck.
    Any suggestions?

Both iTunes and Quick time will download and install and I can open QuickTime without a problem, but when I open iTunes, I get the following error:
    A bit unusual.
Did you do the QuickTime/iTunes install at work?
Is QuickTime still launching when you get the PC home?
(Wondering if something relating to the network at work have done odd things to QuickTime or iTunes registry entries ... possibly iTunes is looking for QuickTime on the wrong drive when you get the PC home, for example.)

  • Problem opening iTunes after downloading latest version

I have got windows vista. Been using iTunes for awhile, but after downloading the latest version of iTunes the other day, I'm unable to open it up. A box pops up with this message: "The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer versions of iTunes."
Anyone know what I should do?
    thanks, david

I live way out in the bush
I thought it was only New Zealanders and Australians who used that expression.
If you did the install "on-line" using the website-download-location, then the iTunesSetup.exe doesn't necessarily show up on the PC in any obvious places ... although you might be able to track down a copy in your Temp directory or your Temporary Internet files. If you did the update using Apple Software Update for Windows, ASU doesn't download the iTunesSetup.exe. Rather, it downloads the different components from the installer as seperate .msi files (iTunes.msi, QuickTime.msi, AppleApplicationSupport.msi and so on). You might find some of those in your ASU Downloaded Applications folder. (Launch ASU, and go "Tools > Open Downloaded Updates folder" to check for those.)
But probably best to get an iTunesSetup.exe from in town, I think ... the one in the Temp directory or the .msi files might be a bit damaged (one possible cause of the trouble with the earlier install. So usually it's safest to use a fresh one with this particular error message.

This has worked for some people. Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • Problem opening files after installing Creative Cloud

I'm running Creative Cloud in Windows 7. Since installing CC, when I double-click on a file icon the program opens but the file doesn't. I can only open the file from the file menu within the program. Very inconvenient. Also, Acrobat now randomly displays the error message, "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server." Does anyone have a solution to these problems? Please advise.

Thanks, David. You are right, the problem does have to do with the administrative settings, and the issue involved all native files (PSD, INDD, AI, etc.), as well as JPEGs, TIFFS, and other formats accepted respective Adobe products. For anyone else faced with this issue in Windows 7, they should do the following:
For each software, you'll need to set administrator privileges in two areas. Go to Properties, select Compatability tab, and under "Privilege Level" select "Run as administrator." For the second location, also under Properties, select the Shortcut tab, then go to "Advanced" and select "Run as administrator."
Such a quick fix for a nagging headache.
Thanks again, David, for your help.

  • Taleo users have problems opening documents after installing Adobe Flash player 13.0.0.214

Since the release of the newest version of flash, 13.0.0.214 many Taleo users can login but cannot view documents in the Taleo system.  When they click on a document, it does not open.  The last version which worked was 13.0.0.206,  Is a fix available for this problem?

What does that mean?  Adobe is the name of the company that maintains hundreds of softwares, each has a distinct name.
What is the file type of these documents?

  • Problems with iTunes after installing an SSD/HDD on my Macbook Pro

    Hello everybody,
I decided to install a SSD on my Macbook Pro, replacing the optical drive with it, then I set up the new disk to be the boot drive and left the HDD on its place to store media and stuff.
Obviously, my library now is on the HDD, but when I try to delete a file via iTunes I get a partial elimination, or no elimination at all. The songs remain on their place on iTunes. I have no idea why. My only theory is related to the TRIM option: I have a small application that enabled it on both drives, so maybe it may be a pain for the HDD?
    Any help?
    Thanks!

First, spinning hard drives don't use TRIM, so you can't enable it on your HD, only your SSD.
Is your SSD your boot drive? Where do you have your iTunes media stored? There's a right way and a wrong way to change the location of the media - see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Can't open iTunes after accidently unplugging iPod--help!

Having problems opening iTunes after I accidently unplugged my 60G video iPod while it was loading. iTunes kind of froze, with the spinning beach ball, and I had to force quit to stop it. I restarted the computer for good measure, but now, when I try to open iTunes, I get the message:
"The iTunes Music Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."
Of course, the library file is NOT locked, NOT on a locked disk, and I DO have write permission for the file.
Can anyone help with this matter?
    Thanks,
    Terry

Try running Disk Utility and perform a "Repair Permission".
Also check manually through finder the permissions on "iTunes" folder as well as on the files in that folder.
