  • Lightroom 5.7 not opening Photoshop CC2014 - says it needs newer ACR version

    Hello -
Well, a new problem has come up.  I've got a CC membership, and all current versions of Lightroom, PS CC 2014, PS CC, and PS CS6.  ACR version currently installed on the system is 8.7.1.  System is Windows 7.
All was working a-okay until today.  Now, when I try to open a RAW file from Lightroom into Photoshop, I get the following error message:
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.7 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of the Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0"
And then it prompts me to cancel or open anyway.  Opening either fails or prompts me to create a new PSD file within Photoshop and does not open ACR in Photoshop.  When I select multiple files to photomerge (which I do a lot for panos), opening in Photoshop fails completely.
Well, as stated above I have all current versions of the software installed.  In attempts to rectify the problem I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom, separately downloaded and reinstalled ACR v8.7.1.  Photoshop CC pop up menu indicates all software is up to date.
I have no idea what is going on or how to rectify this issue.  Any and all help is appreciated.

Hello - I have tried opening the image either the pull down menu function, or right-clicking and selecting "edit in" on the menu that appears.  I do not use ctrl-e to open. Here are screen shots that show the edit selection menu and the resulting "wrong version of ACR"
message.  As you'll see, I am attempting to open the image in PS CC2014.
Regarding the other question about ACR 8.7.1, Adobe offers this as a separate download that I found on their site.  Assuming the Adobe CC automated installation of newer software versions went awry for some reason, I downloaded this and installed it separately.
I am now going through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling LR and PS softwares to see if a full reinstall resolves the issue.

  • Having problems opening photoshop 7.0 in windows 7

I installed  photoshop 7.0 on Windows 7 (64 bit). When I try to open it I get the following prompt:" Could not initialize Photoshop, Scratch disks are full". I contacted Microsoft, they were not able to resolve the issue, they suggest I contact Adobe and get back to them, if problem is not resolved. Is there a fix for this problem?

try  resetting your preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt while starting ps.  you'll see a confirmation dialog if done correctly.
if that fails, use a hd less than 1 tb
if that fails, uninstall and reinstall using compatibility mode (with a compatibile os).

  • Problems opening photoshop in G5-computer wants to update

    Help!!
I've finally run the G5 firmware update that's supposed to keep my computer from freezing, but everytime I try open any adobe program, I still get a message that it's "updating adobe online components" and something about AWEXfiles.txt and nothing ever happens and I can't open the program. I have to force quit the program and try again, but I keep getting the same thing. How do I keep this from happening?

    Hi--
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Your problem sounds more like it's a Photoshop/Adobe trouble and not Mac OS X (or firmware). The error about AWECfiles.txt would be very important. Can you post the errors you get exactly?
Alternatively, look for a folder called "Web" in this path: /Library/Application Support/Adobe. That's the "Library" folder that's in the top level of your hard drive, not the one in your home folder. If there's a "Web Folder" there, drag it to the desktop and try to run Photoshop and see what happens. If Photoshop launches, you've found your culprit.
You might want to copy that folder to a CD or somewhere for a backup just in case. The delete it from your Desktop.

  • Problem opening Photoshop and Illustrator

I've been using CS6 Photoshop and CS6 Illustrator for months now through Creative Cloud. All of a sudden they stopped opening/crash everytime I try to use them. I updated to CC yesterday to try and fix this. I still have the same problem however, and can not get the apps to open successfully. I've tried trouble shooting, and there was indeed a problem detected, but that's all I know. I have restarted my computer and Photoshop/Illustrator many times since then. How can I solve this issue?

    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

  • Problems opening Photoshop

I have Photoshop cs3 on my Mac. Recently, everytime I try to open it it gives me this message:
"You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting you IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help."
I've done the uninstalling/reintalling thing but I still get that message.
    Someone help!?

I once saw that very same message when our internet connection was down. It had nothing to do with reinsatlling. Make sure the machine in question has a solid connection to the internet. If it does, check to see if any firewall / antivirus software has been updated or changed.

  • Problems opening Photoshop Elements 7

I recently formated my PC back to factory settings (I have Vista) and re-installed Elements 7.  When I try to open it, it says that Windows has encountered an error and searching for a solution.  Then it closes.  It will open if I pick "Organize" but I then go back to problems when I pick edit?  Any thoughts?  I installed a fix (Elements 703_Patch), but that didn't help.  It worked just fine before I re-formatted.  Thanks.  Mary

Best guess without more info is that you have a TWAIN device driver installed, such as one for a scanner, or possibly a digital still camera or webcam, and that driver is either malfunctioning or otherwise incompatible with the Editor.
Use the info in this document to determine if that's your issue:

  • Problem opening Photoshop Elements 11

I just installed the Photoshop Elements 11 but I'm unable to open it.

    Hi,
Please run the .exe file that would have downloaded in parallel to this .7z file. Invoking that .exe file would start the extraction of .7z (a compressed file).
Once the extraction is done, you may please invoke the installer exe from inside of the Photoshop Elements folder
    thanks.

  • Problem opening photoshop

Please can you tell me what this message means. Try to explain in a simple lamans language so i can understand
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the photoshop cs6 extended version 3 times but i still get this message.
    What do i do?

I don't recall that dll, but I would assume the msvcp means microsoft visual C++. If thats so, then it maybe a dll needed for the runtime. Try reinstalling the runtime library. You can find a copy on microsfts website in the downloads section do a search for visual C++ runtime. Then choose the library for your system, whether it is a 32 bit sytem or 64 bit system. It matters which one you choose. You can find out by looking at your system specs. They can be found in the control panel then bdl click the sytem icon,  the sytem information app (start button>all programs>accessories>system tools>System Information {windows xp, vista and 7} or type system information in the start buttons search), Photoshop's help menu has its own system information as well.
If that does not do it, you can find an app on microsofts website called sysInternals. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/default
This is a collection of apps(if you choose the entire suite), one of which is autoruns and should be availible by it self. This app will tell you everything that is loaded into windows at startup. It will tell you what files that it can not find and what folder they should be located in. Knowing the folder location may tell you what program created the files for that folder, or at least give you a hint. Then it should be a bit easier to reinstall the app that is creating that error.
Because, this error is aimed at photoshop, my guess is the runtime files. In fact, you could uninstall photoshop, uninstall the runtime, then reinstall photoshop. Photoshop is suppose to install the runtime, if it can not find it. Doing it this way, may save you a bit of agravation. Assuming this is the problem.
I wish I could be of more help, but like I said, never ran across that issue before.  Hopefully, I am pointing you in the right direction, if not I appologize.

  • Photoshop CC2014 and Windows 8 - click "drag" problem

    Hey there!
So, I have recently started using the latest version of Photoshop CC2014 under windows 8.1 and I'm having this weird problem.
I'm using a Cintiq 24HD touch with latest drivers, and touch disabled. I have also disable any kind of click and hold windows has - for tablets and for touch input.
Cursor Drag problem in Photoshop CC2014 - YouTube
Still, when I try to make fine adjustments on sliders, I click and the slider simply does not move. This does not happen every click, but it happens often enough to be annoying as hell. It is happening everywhere, from panels to liquify window, to using the hand tool to navigate the image, and not only in sliders! Trying to make fine adjustments in liquify with your brushstroke jumping around is not fun.
I'm not sure what and where the problem is, but this simply does not happen in any other application (Photoshop CC; Sketchbook Pro, Paintstorm Studio, Krita).
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks in advance,

I have been using Photoshop on windows for more then 20 years on windows. Windows 95, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 7.  I never installed Windows ME, Windows Vista or Windows 8.  I have never seen any version of Photoshop change a displays brightness or even the image color when scaling or going from  float to tab to single image with PS UI to full screen.  However I hardly ever use Photoshop in full screen mode.
At different zoom views image may seem like the color change because of the scale of the image or the portion of the image that is on screen or the color of the border around the image.

  • When I tried to open PS CC2014, it flashed a bit then quit, same with DW and INDD ... I also got this error message: Adobe creative cloud is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged. Please download and install a new copy of the C

This morning when I tried to open my CC2014 Photoshop, it started to open, then quit suddenly. Same with Dreamweaver and InDesign. I am a professional and do not have the time to screw around with this. When I tried to run CC app, I get an error that says "Adobe creative cloud is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged. Please download and install a new copy of the Creative Cloud from 'http://www.adobe.com/go/adobecreativecloudapp'." I did so and tried to run the app and got the same error. I tried the cleaner and it removed all of my apps, then I tried to install again, and got the same error. I am getting desperate now, I have clients waiting for their projects. I need help, please.

Allisonf55952352 have you utilized the steps listed in Error: "Failed to install" | Creative Cloud Desktop to resolve the current error?  If not do you have any questions regarding the steps listed with the document?

  • "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014" option in Lightroom 5.5 - Photo doesn't open in CC2014

When i use the "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014" option in Lightroom 5.5, Photoshop CC2014 will open, but the photo I want to edit in Photoshop, doesn't load up. To edit a photo in CC14 I have had to set up an Export option that saves the photo as a tiff and then opens in CC2014. Is there a setting I have missed to enable the transfer using "Edit in..."
    Thanks
    Andrew

I started having this problem after I uninstalled Photoshop CC.  I even tried not removing its preferences while uninstalling, but I still ended up with the same problem.  The only solution I can find is to reinstall Photoshop CC.  Only then will Photoshop CC 2014 open a photo from Lightroom 5.5.  I also notice that with DNGs, I no longer am presented with an option to "edit original," "edit with Lightroom changes," etc.  It just opens the DNG with LR changes.  When opening a PSD, however, I do see this prompt.  When installing the upgrades, Adobe said we could uninstall Photoshop CC and continue using Photoshop CC 2014 once we were comfortable with Photoshop CC 2014.  Apparently that's not the case when using Lightroom's "edit in" feature.  I'm really disappointed that I have to keep unused applications installed just to make another application work semi-properly.  :-(

  • Photoshop CC2014 failed to open correctly, HELP!

I have an assignment due on Friday using Photoshop CC2014 which I just bought from Adobe. Every time I open it, a popup says that is has failed to open correctly and a program is stopping it from opening correctly and closes it down. I have tried reinstalling and updating my laptop. It still will not open correctly. I have a dell Windows 8 laptop and I just updated it to 8.1 version.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you have any ideas how to fix my problem.  Thank you,
