Problem opening saved emails

I have saved my important emails to my flash drive and have always been able to open them.  For some reason, now I cannot access any of them and keep getting the same message.  It is:
"Adobe Reader could not open ".......eml" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
Like I said, it is for all of my saved emails and all have the extension ".eml".  Please help!

Thanks for your help, Pat.  This actually did not work, however, in another post from 6/7/10, someone had asked about Adobe Reader 9.3 not working with Windows 7.  I see that you had answered that post also, but the problem was solved by graffiti.  Graffiti said that if you have both Reader and Acrobat installed on the same machine, you should uninstall one and repair the other since both fight for resources leading to various issues.  Once I uninstalled Reader, the problem was solved.  Thanks so much for taking the time to try to help me.  You actually did, by leading me to the correct answer.  Have a nice day.

  • TS1506 I have a problem opening some email attachments. They will not open in the mail application on an IPad Air

    I recently upgraded from an iPad 1 to an Air. One of its main uses is to avoid printing volumes of papers for meetings, so the abilty to open attachments with mail is pretty important.
    There are some attachments that will not open in the mail application on an iPad Air. Some in the same format do (docx). They do open in Mail on my MacBook, and iPad1, or if I go to webmail on any device including a Blackberry, so it is not a file corruption problem.  The problem persists on different networks. Other emails from the same sender do work. It seems to be specifically related to IOS 7 or the Mail app. Quickview won't work, nor will opening with a range of Apps which report a file error.
    There was an historical problem with Apple garbling pdf files, but this is a new one on me.
    All this is a shame because it is opening emails in attachments that was one of my main reasons for buying an Air.
    Does anyone know of the cause? A solution?

    What about a work-around?

  • I'm having problems opening my email. Help?

    My email will not open. It was and then one day just stopped. Why, help?

    When this happens I begin to suspect it's something in the project itself causing the instability. Try this:
    Go to the Project Library, then highlight the name of the project. Go to the File Menu, choose Duplicate Project
    Go into the duplicated project and think long and hard about what order you put things together. Then working in reverse, start removing items from the project, one at a time. You might have a corrupted title, picture, transition, or audio clip that's the source of the problem.
    As you remove items, keep testing it by playing it back or exporting it, whenever you get to the point where iMovie stops crashing, you may have discovered the corrupted media clip. Once identified, remove that clip from the original project then export that original project (instead of the duplicate)

  • SQL Data Modeler - Problem Opening Saved Logical Model

    I created a logical model in the Data Modeler tool and saved it as a .dmd file.
    When I try to open the .dmd file nothing pulls up. I get the following logs:
    2012-11-08 11:09:45 - Building Diagrams
    2012-11-08 11:11:25 - Open Design: 'CTS'
    2012-11-08 11:11:25 - Open Design: 'OK'
    I created a test model and saved it as a .dmdz file and I get can it to open. I tried to revise the file type of my original model to .dmdz and when I try to open, I get the following error message and nothing shows up.
    "Some objects are not loaded correctly. See the log file for details." There is nothing in the log file.
    Any ideas about how to get my .dmd file to open correctly?

    What worked for me was going to Tools .. Preferences .. Data Modeler, and then making sure that each of the "Default <x> Directory" specifications pointed to a part of the hard drive that my operating system login user had permission to reach. (I suggest a sub-directory under your login user's "My Documents" or "Documents" folder, or whatever your operating system calls it.) Allowing the initially blank defaults produced weird behavior on my machine. YMMV.

  • Problem opening PDF email attachments

    How do I get email attachments to open as PDF files in Adobe Reader instead of Photoshop Element?

    In windows explorer, right-click a closed PDF file’s icon and select “Open with”→ Adobe Reader from the pop-up menu. Turn on the “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file” checkbox to set Reader to open all PDF files.

  • Problems opening saved pdf files on desktop

    I can open pdf files in Mavericks Safari 7.0, but if I save it to the desktop and try to re-open, I get error messages.  However, if a pdf arrives in an email, I can save to the desktop and it opens perfectly.  Any ideas, please?

    Back up all data.
    If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • I am unable to open my emails using firefox, I get message page not found 404

    I am having problems opening my emails, a page with 404 not found with the following message 'The requested URL /dc/launch was not found on this server.

    I have found a way to access my emails by changing my running program eg internet explorer or google. But I don't understand why this has happened, it only affects my emails when I use firefox

    The updater may not have been able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
    You need to do a clean reinstall.
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Saving email with attachment causes me to lose all text

    I have encountered an extremely frustrating problem with saving emails on my Q10. When my email contains only text, then I can save it without an issue. However, if I try to save an email with a word document attached, it saves a blank version of my email - the text disappears and so does the attachment. All that remains is the title and to email address of the recipient.
    This is extremely inconvenient and needs to be remediated. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tyson

  • Error in opening draft email saved with msg extension

    I am attempting to create a email and save it on local hard disc. The email is a file having msg extension. So that it can be opened with MS Outlook. Also I want it to be in DRAFT mode. Like we can create draft email with MS Outlook. This message will have multiple attachmets.
    Thus when user opens this file, it will get opened with MS Outlook and user will be able to edit the message text, TO/CC list, attachments.
    I am using MimeMessage.writeTo(Outstream) API to save the message to a file, say C:\test.msg
    But if I double click test.msg in explorer to open it, it gives error:
    Can't open file C:\test.msg. The file may not exist, you may not have permissions to open it, or it may be open in another program.
    Is it possible to create draft Outlook email message with msg extension?
    If yes, how?
    My code:
                   Properties props = new Properties();
                   props.load(new FileInputStream("C:/email.settings.properties"));
                   // create some properties and get the default Session
                   Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props);
                   session.setDebug(debug);
                   // create a message
                   msg = new MimeMessage(session);
                   //Create message from saved email
                   File savedFile = new File("C:/test.msg");
                   // set the from and to address
                   InternetAddress addressFrom = new InternetAddress(from);
                   msg.setFrom(addressFrom);
                   InternetAddress[] addressTo = null;
                   addressTo = new InternetAddress[recipients.length];
                   for (int i = 0; i < recipients.length; i++) {
                        addressTo[i] = new InternetAddress(recipients);
                   msg.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, addressTo);
                   // Setting the Subject and Content Type
                   msg.setSubject(subject);
                   msg.setContent(message, "text/plain");
                   MimeBodyPart attachmentBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
                   DataSource ds = new FileDataSource("C:/WhichSQLServer.pdf");
                   attachmentBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(ds));
                   attachmentBodyPart.setFileName("WhichSQLServer.pdf");
                   Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
                   multipart.addBodyPart(attachmentBodyPart);
                   msg.setContent(multipart);
                   //msg.setFlag(Flags.Flag.DRAFT, true);
                   msg.getFlags().add(Flags.Flag.DRAFT);
                   msg.setFileName("test.msg");
                   msg.saveChanges();
                   FileOutputStream os = new FileOutputStream("C:/test.msg");
                   msg.writeTo(os);
                   os.flush();
                   os.close();

    Outlook Msg files aren't as easy to write as you would believe. They are a propretary format that microsoft uses based on the DocFile format that Word and Excel uses.
    If you did the MimeMessage.writeTo(out) and saved it to a .eml file Outlook Express will open it, but Outlook doesn't directly read this file type.
    I've started on a library to allow the creation of Outlook msg files, right now it only allows you to set text, dates, long, and boolean values on the email message (which means you can set stuff like the recieved date/time, subject, body, to, from, etc), but it does not yet support attachments or extra recipents (CC, BCC, etc). I'll be updating the copy on my site as soon as I get the other stuff working (which isn't as easy as it sounds).
    Priasoft has a library available that can do what you want however.

  • Problem opening  Microsoft Office & PDF Email attachments

    Just got a Motorola Razr.  Having a problem opening Microsoft Office (e.g. Work, Excel) and PDF Email attachments.   Receive message "winmail.dat Unsupported file type".   Can open jpg files.  I have Quick Office, which is suppose to enable you to do this, but does not seem to make a difference.   Wonder if it is an Android 2.3.5 issue.  I used to have a Blackberry and this was not an issue.  This is a showstopper for me and I will return the phone if I can't read Microsoft Office and PDF files attached to emails.  My email server / client is Verizon.
    I would appreciate any recommendations.

    Hope this is one of those "better late than never" scenarios.
    The problem sounded familiar, and it's one that's been around for a long, long time.  I don't think it's a Razr problem, or a Droid problem, but it is about email clients.  I've had similar issues with email on computers.
    The problem starts with Outlook's RTF format.  It saves the document's formatting info (bold, underline, etc.) and other info in the winmail.dat file, and some email clients simply can't decode it.
    The sender can change the format of what they're sending, though, and I believe that the most recent versions of Outlook can change those format setttings on a person-by-person basis (don't want to start a rumor here because I could be wrong about that).
    Just copy and paste the error message into Google (or your preferred search engine, and you'll see some info that might be helpful.

  • Having problems in sending email..always saved in outbox and cannot send mail bcoz of the server failed

    Having problems in sending email..always saved in outbox and cannot send bcoz of server failed

    The email server you are using to send mail through requires the password, if any is required it needs to be set in the location that I pointed out in the earlier post.
    It is usually the same password you use for receiving emails.
    I don't use either Facebook or Twitter so I am not sure how to help with those.

  • Problems opening and saving PNG over network with CS2 and CS3

    using os10.4.11
    photoshop CS2 or CS3
    I've recently tried to save images in PNG format,  small (no more than a couple hundred kilobytes) and found that whenever I tried to save to the server it would hang photoshop and require a force-quit. Saving the same file to the desktop works fine. Copying said file to the network and then trying to open that PNG from the server results in a photoshop hang, while opening that same file from the desktop works fine. I know all about the fact that Adobe doesn't support working over a server, but that's never been an issue at my workplace in all the years I've worked with (never had problems saving/opening any format, no corrupted files ever). If I try to open that same PNG from the server with CS2, same result. If I try to open it over the server using Photoshop CS, or version 7, however, it opens just fine. If I copy the Photoshop CS version of the PNG plugin and replace the PNG plugin installed with CS3 by default, then it seems to work and I can now open and save PNGs anywhere with no problems. Has anyone else had this problem? I can see that the file size of the PNG plugin has changed version to version, so something about it has changed. It seems as though there is something defective about the ones installed with CS2/3, and just copying the CS version into my CS3 folder clears up the problem.
    Also, the problem is not limited to my computer. Other macs that try to open PNG files from the server using CS3 or 2 also hang.

    Yes, we're a prepress company moving around probably a few dozen gb of data per day, saving PSD, TIFF, EPS, JPEG, all kinds of formats. It's the first time I've had a client requesting PNG files, and so the issue has come to light. This is the first time I've ever seen any kind of issue opening/saving across our network in 8 years. (the only time I've ever seen a corrupt file was a 1.6gb image that didn't copy correctly, and that wasn't a photoshop-related corruption, but an OS drag/copy of the file)
    I'm not sure if I'll be able to find someone with OS 10.5 or some other version to see if they cause problems. If anyone else reading this who works over a network can test a PNG open/save over their network and list their OS and Photoshop version it may help. I'm going to see if I can find some other computers to try it out on in the meantime and mention it to IT.

  • Mail (5.3) OS X 10.7.5 mail program crashing when opening an email with attachment. Any suggestions out there? I can open the mail program...send and receive emails...click on emails without attachments with no problem.

    I am having a problem successfully opening an email containing attachment. I can open the mail program...send and receive emails...and view emails that do not contain attachments. But whenever I click on an email containing an attachment, I get the spinning beach ball for a few seconds and then the entire program closes. Any suggestions before I make a one hour trip to the Apple store for help?

    I don't think an interactive portion of a PDF is an obscure problem (lots of designers I know use rollable PDF files for emailing 3D models) and while I understand that it's in a legacy program, there is no guarantee if I purchase Acrobat X, that the same problem won't exist. It's no an issue in Reader 10 but then again, it wasn't an issue in Reader 9 either. Since Adobe doesn't give trial versions for Mac (stupid), I have no way of checking this. The problem doesn't annoy me as much as being an Adobe product user who upgraded only to not have functionality and not have a way to have it resolved.

    Is any body having problems opening Jpegs sent via email as attachments. iPhone 4
    I can't open and get a spinning wheel or it bombs out!..Help!! It affects iMap, exchange and mac accounts!

    Solution for me was changing the "Load Remote Images" setting, shutting down and restarting the phone.  The old messages with problems reloaded with all attachments accessible.
    Background: I began having this problem recently with PDF, jpeg,vcf files and apparently now, all attachments as well as email with html links are coming through with no attachment or as empty email.  This was a new problem for me. I have been backing up to the cloud, but not using a cloud email account.  I have multiple accounts on the phone, six of them actually and have been set up this way for over a year without problem.  Some are imap, some pop, none are through exchange.
