Problem overclocking my 945P PLATINUM+805D

hi...
my english is lack so i'll make it slow
i just bought the msi 945p platinum with intel dual 805d.
unfortunally, i cant o/c the system ..
the bios got no update on msi website so i see it is the latest bios .
i know that the 805d can be o/c to 3.2 without any over voltage ...as concidered to other motherboards .just by increasing the fsb to 166.
i am kind of newbie in the terms of o/c .
i tried to make some adjustments in the corecenter software but the system freezes or get quickly unstable.
i cant make the fsb on bios ,higher then 165 .default is 133 by the range.
i put over voltage to the memory ->1.9v .default is 1.8 , and put the fsb to 165...but the system didnt post .
anyone here can help me please ?

I also have a D805 and an 945P platinum.
In fact i manage a 3.3 GHZ stable overclock by using these:
In BIOS cell menu:
CPU ratio unlock-unlock
Memory function sub-menu - Enter, then
DRAM timing - AUTO (!!!!)
System memory frequency - auto
D.O.T.3 Step0 setting - disabled
Auto Detect PCI clock - Enabled
Spread Spectrum - Disabled
CPU fsb frequency - 165 (THIS IS THE MAX THAT MOBO PERMITS AND IT PISSES ME OFF)
PCI-e frequency - 115
CPU voltage - 1.21V (1 step up from normal)
Memory voltage - 1.8V
AGP/PCI voltage - 1.5V
I have to say that i use a ZALMAN 9550 heatsink and a pair of OCZ DDR2/667 dual channel. CPU temp as BIOS shows is 42C
Also, memory is not overclocked at all !!!
PSU is a TAGAN 500W
I am sure that i could go up to 3.6-3.8 GHZ with a board that is more "overclocking" oriented.....
But alas...i have no other problems (so far) from it
thanks for the post
exact vallues are very helpful even  though ıt ıs not mathematıcal ıssue ...

  • 945P Platinum, memory divider (BIOS)

First I want to say hello to all users!
I recently bought MSI 945P Platinum motherboard with Bios v1.3, CPU is Intel Celeron 2.66GHz, 64bit, LGA775, 256mb cache which I intend to replace with some Pentium D in about a month. But until than I tried to overclock CPU but all I achieved is 145*20=2.9GHz (default is 133*20=2.66GHz) Vcore 1.4v, with Kingston VR DDR2 533MHz memory. The thing is that FSB:DRAM is always 1:2, how can I change this in bios? I think that the problem is memory, it wont go more than 580MHz... and if I put FSB at 146 the only solution is CLEAR CMOS.
I didn`t tried with different bios versions because there are no other versions to download from msi.com.tw.
    P.S. I also tried to set in bios>core cell>memory manual 4-4-4-11 533MHz but nothing happens, I cant change FSB:DRAM from 1:2.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can.
The o/c method goes like this: Every 1 FSB rised = 2 RAM MHz rised. If your 2.66GHz Celeron is 133 x 20, 133 is the FSB and 20 is the multiplier so your RAMs will be 266 x 2, where 266 is the RAM speed and Double Data Rate 266 will give approx. 533MHz. We'll only take the FSB and the RAM speed here for divider calculation.
133 : 266 will ratio as 1 : 2. If you want to o/c higher in terms of CPU speed, you can try dropping your RAM speed to 200MHz and rising the FSB to higher clock speed. This will allow the RAM speed to increase as well.

  • 945P Platinum IDE 2 & IDE 3 works in PIO MODE?

Hello there, I just Bought MSI 945P Platinum M/B and Intel Pentium 4 D @2,8Ghz with 1Ghz RAM, 80GB SATA2, 4 CDRW drives (PATA) where 2 of them I plug in to IDE1 slot(known as RAID, but i configured it to IDE function in BIOS) and the others are in IDE2 slot. I used winxp with the all M/B driver installed, everything's seems ok in device manager, the problem is when I use nero for burning with multiple recorder activated, the windows then going extremely slow in any response even with the mouse movement that it seems windows is running out of system memory. Then I check the device manager and I found that IDE2 run in PIO Mode, IDE1 run in UDMA Mode2.
It didn't make any changes when I used IDE3 slot, it run in PIO MODE either.
How Can I configured The IDE2 & IDE3 to works in DMA mode? I've try any combination in BIOS Setup... it didn't work??
HELP, any advice would be appreciated THX...

PCI Bus Mastering already enabled since the 1st time I configured the bios, I'm using 2 pieces thermaltake IDE round Cable that plugged in to IDE 2 & 3, IDE 1 using cable that came with the board. I'm using 4 LiteOn PATA Writers and Seagate 80Gb SATA2 HDD plugged in SATA1 port.
1st configuration, 2 writers are in IDE 1 & the others are in IDE 2
2nd configuration, 2 writers are in IDE 1 & the others are in IDE 3
3rd configuration, 2 writers are in IDE 2 & the others are in IDE 3
All above configuration make the same result, IDE 2 & 3 Won't run in DMA mode
I've try to switch the thermaltake cable to IDE1 and it's work fine (DMA still on).
It doesn' t matter how I configured the BIOS (SATA to combine, enhanced, or AUTO) IDE2&3 still in PIO Mode.

  • 945P Platinum No Manual Bios Download

Anyone help why MSI took off Manual Bios Downloads for 945P Platinum Version Boards
I like to Manual Update Board Bios to latest Bios before Loading OS and view current Version releases (without LiveUpdate)
Also anyone experienced Microphone Problems plugging into Mic Plug (Onboard Realtek 882) all version Sound Drivers
Low Voice pick up (Skype or Sound Recorder) have to use USB Mic
Have tested on 10 Different Boards and differnet plug in mics all the same

Not unusual that bios is removed / greyouted, when there are just the original 1.0 bios and no update versions.
Have you been able to download newer/later biosversions then the orginial bios before ?
No clue about the mic-port issue.
Sometimes separate pci soundcards gives better functionality.

  • 945P Platinum (MS-7176) D-Bracket Connector

I've just installed a 945P Platinum.  Upon installing the D-Bracket, I noticed that the connector to JDB1 is not keyed the same as the JDB1 pins on the motherboard - and thus will not connect.  On the motherboard, there is no pin at pin 9 on JDB1, however on the D-Bracket cable connector the "key" (blocked pin) is on pin 10 - and therefore the connector will not fit.
Have I gone nuts or has anyone else seen this issue?  Thanks!

Yes, I'm looking at the one labeled JDB1 - and it looks just like that manual says it should look - with no pin at pin 9.
To me, the problem is the connector from the D-Bracket - where is has pin 10 blocked instead of pin 9.  Since there is a pin 10 on JDB1, it's impossible to connect.  I thought I was nuts and looking at the wrong thing.
Any ideas - or maybe I just have a bad D-Bracket?
    Thanks for the reply!

  • Does the Neo4-F suffer the same temp problems as the Neo2 Platinums?

    Hey there,
I'm about to change my Neo2's below and in the process put these five Opteron 146's in "something'.
(The Asus board is a test bed. I really liked my old A7N8X Dx's and bought it cheap enough used)
Can someone here answer if the Neo4-F's suffer the temp reading problems as my Neo2 Platinums do?
Nothing like rebooting to "get' a lower temp. Or watch it rise 1-2deg a day in a stable ambient.
I'd really like to not end up with new BIOS's being released attempting to cure the "supposed" temps reported.
They run 24/7 for Grid.org's Cancer Research and misleading or incorrectly reported temps worry me at times.
    Thanks,
    Rick

    Hi......
Can´t speak for the Neo4-F MoBo, just some general comments, that may or may not help you.
What temp problems did you have with your Neo2 MoBo ?
Getting a 100% accurate cpu temp reading seems to be difficult task to achieve for many Vendors and softwaremakers.
Differant vendors may have differant ways to monitor the integreated cpu temp sensor, which does not necessarily mean that the actual cpu temp is differant between differant MoBo´s.
Meaning a low cpu temp report may not be true and vice versa, so knowing the true cpu temp is not that easy, but I believe that any system that runs stable 24/7 is happy, no matter what cpu temp that is reported ( within reasonable values)
There are usually some "safe cpu temp" biossettings that could be changed, if the reported cpu temp is too high, to avoid shut downs / boot problems.
    Some basic factors to consider are ;
    - ambient room temperature
    - what cpu cooler / thermal grease is used
    - case / system ventilation and airflow
    - what biosversion used
    - surrounding system componenets, like VGA, PSU etc.
    - stock or OC cpu-speed and cpu voltage
The above factors are the things you can affect yourself, no matter what MoBo.
    For the moment I´m running a K8N Neo2 / Winchester with some 28c idle and 45c load.
I´m getting an opteron 146 to the weekend and it will be interesting to see what cpu temp I will get.
It is my understanding that the opterons runs a bit hotter compared to winchester / Venice cores.

  • 945P Platinum and Pentium D 945

Did anyone try Intel Pentium D 945 CPU on the 945P Platinum motherboard? Does it work with bios 1.6?

Quote from: Maesus on 09-March-07, 19:50:58
oh well, there is no good reason why D 945 is not supported by 945P. Just make sure you have the latest BIOS.
Once I've seen OK on the CPU Support Page for the Pentium D 915.. Maesus do you think I should try?  ???

Your specific processor does not appear on the CPU support list.

Suggest you contact >>How to contact MSI.<< MSI technical to check if there is any intention to do this. I doubt that they would do any further work on a BIOS on a discontinued MB.

  • 945P Platinum With The MSI NX7950GX2-T2D1GE

    Hey guys,
Ill be receaving one of these cards shortly, though since ive been out of the whole PC loop for a while now, i only just noticed that on certain motherboards support this card.
On the list from Nvidia website it states the "945P NEO2-F" as compatible. Though from what i can see, there is no real difference between this board and my "945P Platinum". I know the main issue seems to be 16x PCI Slot, and the bios, so before i receave card, could someone please confirm that this card will work with my motherboard =D hopefully before i receave it as i can still change the card .
    Thanks in advance,
    David.

Just want to point out too people that the g-card does not accutaly fit into the motherboard -_-, there are two capacitor's near the sata ports that are in the way. Though a bit of electrical tape and removing the bottom bar off the card and it just fits in.
Also it is working atm, though for some reason am getting rather low scores in 3d-mark06. Scoring around 5.5k when most people even with lower spec'ed systems seem to be scorring in the 8-10k's
Might just be my setup, but who knows.

  • Overclocking Neo 2 Platinum

    Hiya all!
I am trying to overclock Neo 2 Platinum with San Diego 3700+ and 1Gb of Corsair 3200XL Platinum... Now I can go up to about 2.75GHz at 250*11 at 2.7 vdimm and 1.68 vcore. I'm using Arctic Freezer 64 with Arctic Silver ceramique. BIOS is 1.A TCCD by Sideffect
I have a couple of questions:
    1) Assuming that I would be running at 2.7GHz at 1.7v, how long my processor is likely to survive if it goes to about 60 degrees under load (S&M test).
2)I'm trying to reach 270*10, but having some trouble obtaining such high FSB  (even at low multiplyers). Relaxing memory timings doesn't seem to do much good. Any idea what i can do with this? I was thinking about upping AGP frequency and AGP volt. (AGP freq at about 75 atm)
Finally can ppl with San Diego 3700+ CPU's post their top overclocks voltages, BIOS's and cooling (air cooling only). I would be most grateful, as I want to know how well can it potentially overclock... (yes I know that every chip is different).
I must say I'm quite impressed at 2.7GHz, My CPU beats stock FX 55 in benches. Games run pretty sweatly as well...

Have you tried NOT increasing your vcore voltage to keep temps down.  I tried increasing mine a couple of times, but it really had little or no affect on cpu speed limit.  Mine's just a 3200+ winnie, but at 10x280 using PC3200 without a divider, and the temp with vcore at 1.478v stayed under 50*C.  I tried a divider, 166, cause I couldn't get passed 2800, but memory was not limiting me, it's that 2800 was as far as the processor could go and still be stable.
I always forget exact temp and voltages, but I've got a pic somewhere here....
See, I was wrong, vcore was at 1.46v and temp was at 45*C, but if I remember correctly the temp
increased to around 47*C after I was on the system for a while, but as you can see, I had the CPU
fan cranked up all the way.  The TT Volcano12 sounds like a mini vacuum cleaner at 6000 rpm.

  • 945P Platinum and 530J P4 speed fan problem

    Hi,
i cant find 4pin selector in BIOS. The problem is, that CPU fan is going at 3115 rpm and rpm never goes lower. CPU temp is 32C. When temp is 40C, CPU fan goes 4500rpm. TOOO noisy. On 915P Platinum (with 530J but other orig. p4 cooler- i see differences) there is CPU fan very good, if CPU get loaded, fan speed goes up, but if you end work, CPU is in a minute at <2000rpm and I almost cant hear it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    P.S. Excuse my english

problem solved, i switched on Legend Thermal Control in BIOS...

well everything i wrote was based on the guys serial number reading ability. ill live with 2800 mhz. thanks anyway
That's all fine and good, but not always the case. Sure, some batches/runs are better than others, and some weeks of production are just good clockers, but it is hard to tell what ANY chip will do just by looking at the markings on it. Getting 3G on stock vcore would be almost unheard of - unless the chip was made to run at 3G of course. 2800Mhz isn't too bad and exactly what I run on my Brisbane 24/7.
The only real way to know what any chip will do, IMO, is to buy from someone who has abused already tried it

JACK NEW. IS THE BEST MAN TO HELP BE CAUSE HE HAD ONE HIMSELF, but anyway quad core, dual core etc makes no difference your memory and your cpu fsb makes a difference.
using dual core you can get up to 2.7GHz and using bios you can easily get up to 3.2 ghz without any water cooling. you can go up 3.4 ghz but everyone will tell you you need water cooling unless you want to lose your cpu
