Problem parsing the path data - error on jpgs

Photoshop CS2 v9.0.2 Windows XP SP2
Received the following error message in CS2: "Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the path data"
I began getting the message above after adding ITPC data to three .jpg files. The message appears when I try to open the files from either Bridge or Windows Explorer. Other files are not affected. The .psd master file with the same metadata opens ok. I tried clearing the ITPC data, but this had no affect. I also tried moving the file to a different folder and renamed the file with no success. The files open ok in Windows Paint and appear ok in Bridge.
I created the ITPC data on one file in Photoshop and saved a metadata template. Then, in Bridge 1.0.4.6 I used the "replace metadata" command on the other two files.
I searched the knowledge base and this forum. I found only one hit in the forum from 2007, but there were no responses.
Can anyone describe what triggers this message, and how to avoid it or fix it?
Thanks

Foward / backward slashes should not cause issues, as they are part of the standard character set on any system for obvious reasons, but I would more assume that this is an issue in how Windows translates the file info to native paths and tries to access those paths for verification. I seem to recall having read something along those lines recently in relation to some security issues, but I'm not really sure. anyway, does "escaping" the characters improve the matter (\\ or \/)?

  • Problem parsing the path data

I am trying to open a PSD doc in Photoshop CS3 and I am getting an error: problem parsing the path data. Is there any way around this?

Is the icon really an alias? Aliases have a hard-to-see arrow in the lower left corner. If you click once on the icon and do a Get Info, you'll be told if it's an alias, and if so, where the original is, or once was if the original is gone.
Following Ramon and Buko's advice, I got rid of Norton products and several minor irritations at the same time.

  • Windows 7 Backup "The System cannot find the path specified" - Error Code 0x80070003

I'm having severe problems backing up my own machine to a share on our
    FILE-SERVER as \\FILE-SERVER\Backup\
I have already backed up another PC successfully using exactly the same settings I have used on my own PC. So I presume it is nothing to do with the
FILE-SERVER or the Backup settings.  It has to be something to do with what I'm trying to backup from my machine.
    First some background.
This exercise all began when the Windows Server 2008 r2
O/S fell over on one of our Servers. I tried reinstalling the O/S several times, without success. In the end I grabbed another drive and re-built the O/S. I then had problems promoting it to a Domain Controller on the network.
In the end I renamed the Server from FILESERVER
    to FILE-SERVER.
We routinely share four folders on what is now
    FILE-SERVER:
    \\FILE-SERVER\Backup
    - a Folder where backups from all other machines are written, so that they will be backed up with the Server
    \\FILE-SERVER\Company
    - holds all our Company data
    \\FILE-SERVER\GEM
    - this is the application folder for our own database
    \\FILE-SERVER\Install
    - holds all Install files for the software we use
These are all held on a RAID 1 Array that is separate from the System Disk that fell over.
Prior to the Server falling over, I had Backup working fine on my machine.
On my Notebook PC I had made these shared folders 'Available Offline', so that I still had everything available to me when I was out of the office. They were
of course shared as \\FILESERVER\... not \\FILE-SERVER\...
Having got the Server up and going again, I began to get the Backups from the Windows 7 Client PC's going again.
I started with a Desktop, which of course did not have any Offline Files.
     That proved relatively straight-forward.
I then started with my machine. Initially I did not make the above shared folders 'Available Offline'. I set up my Backup using exactly the same settings that
had worked OK on the desktop machine. But when I ran the backup I got:
The System cannot find the path specified, Error Code 0x80070003
I tried all sorts of things to get it to work:
I restored the system to the earliest point possible,
    I ran chkdsk,
    I defragged the drive
All to no avail, so I tried backing up:
with and without a system image,
reducing the backup to a single folder,
a single Folder with only one .txt file in it,
making the Folders 'Available Offline' again.
    Nothing made any difference.
In the end I looked in the Sync Center to look at the Offline Files Folder.
Under Mapped Network Drives I discovered I still had the Files and Folders from
\\FILESERVER.  In their Shortcut Menu 'Always Available Offline' was greyed out. So I deleted the Offline Copies. This deleted the Files in the Folders but not the Folders.
Since I could find no way of deleting the old Mapped Network Drives, I decided I'd painted myself into a corner by renaming the Server.
So I bit the bullet and re-installed my Notebook too.  This did get rid of the unwanted old Mapped Network Drives - BUT NOT THE ERROR!!
I’ve been through all the troubleshooting procedures in:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/629597bb-7be0-455c-b81e-a149472d3f9b/windows-7-backup-the-system-cannot-find-the-path-specified-error-0x80070003?forum=w7itprogeneral
    Method 1
It had none of the symptoms reported in
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455
but I scanned for ‘reparse’ points anyway.  Found several “Junction Points” but none that were “Mounted Volumes”, just ordinary ‘File Folders’.
    Method 2
    Check a drive for errors.
    Looked at:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Check-a-drive-for-errors
    Checked
both boxes.  I closed machine down, to check for errors when it re-started.
It didn’t seem to find anything.
I say seem, because I did not actually see it finishing checking the empty space, but stages 1-4 found no problems and Windows 7 restarted normally.
It did detect 66 ‘Reparse’ Points, which is more than it found when I scanned for them earlier.
    Method 3
Yes, I am an administrator or my own machine and, as such, I have ‘Full Access’.
I downloaded an ran the Process Monitor, filtering for Process Name “Wbengine.exe”, but did dot get a single event.
So I’m not sure what’s going on.
HELP - I'm out of ideas!
I have a WORD Document that documents all the Settings I've used on both the Server and the Clients, together with the reasoning behind those settings, but
I cannot find a way of uploading it.

I am having the exact same problem with Windows 7 Professional. Out of the blue, this issue just started a few months ago when running my monthly Windows Backup where I have used a USB drive for the last 3 years, and never ever had this issue before. Most
of the solutions listed on the Microsoft websites and answers deal with
    "Restore" functions, not the
"Backup" itself. I have 3 folders being skipped during the backup.
So I went and changed the Backup from "let Microsoft choose files, directories, etc" to "Let me choose". I included the files and folders that were being skipped, and ran the "Backup" again, and got the same error message,
but the files that were skipped the first time were "Backed up" finally. This issue is somehow related to my "Libraries"?
    The 3 backup problems are:
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book Recordings. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book CD Label-Cover Art. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book MP3 Tag Art. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Did a "checkdisk" - no problems. Ran a program to fix registry - no problems. All updates up to date. I guess I could eliminate these folders from the Backup folders in the
Library, and just choose them under the "Users" locations, and be done with it. But I really want to understand this, and fix it. This is within Windows 7 and may be related to Windows Media Player or
    some recent Windows update.  Thanks.

Apply trace on RAS and look for errors in the RAS logs at the same timestamp.
These errors come for various errors and tracing RAS would give us a better idea.
It might hapen that you observe these errors for reports which takes more than the RAS timeout to export the reports.
Post getting the RAS logs you can try below steps if we see timeout errors in RAS logs.
Copy clientSDKOptions.xml file from <BO install path>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\lib to the machine where your app is running Open clientSDKOptions.xml and change CORBARequestTimeOut from 600000 to a value large enough to allow the report to render, for instance 1200000. Default value is 600000 (10 minutes)
Specify the location of the clientSDKOptions.xml file at run-time. In your JSP or Java files, use the Java method setProperty from the System class. Set the system property indicated by the ras.config key to the specified directory as: system.setProperty("ras.config","c:\temp"). This function call specifies that the clientSDKOptions.xml file in c:\temp is to be used for locating RAS servers.

  • There was a problem reading the layer data. Read the composite data instead?

I can't open my psd with properly in Photoshop, it keeps showing :There was a problem reading the layer data. Read the composite data instead?
    Photoshop cc
    Help please

I just discovered this issue. Apparently if your PSD document has a tonne of layers, it will save normally. Then suppose you are working on it one day, and create lots of new additional layers...saving that will then corrupt the PSD file, as apparently the number of layers exceeds some hidden limit. You will not be able to load that back in, as Photoshop doesn't appear to allow you to do that. This issue appears for both PSD & PSB files. I lost a few weeks of updates, but recovered thanks to a few backups.
One clue you can use to ensure you don't inadvertently save over the file (thereby corrupting it), is to try duplicating a layer or a group of layers. You will not have the option to do so. If you encounter that, immediately open a new file, and drag a few groups of layers to the new document (and deleting them in the original document). You should then go back below the 'limit', allowing you to save normally.
As for the original corrupted file, well I tried repairing it with a whole host of tools. But nothing worked ....

    Garry: It's gone, MacReady.

  • "The system cannot find the path specified" error

Hi, Thanks for taking the time and reading.
I had to update an old report that was made in CrystalReports. I copied the rpt files and pasted them into a csharp solution in VS 2010.
The report structure is of a Main report and 6 subreports. I have to run this Main report many times and feed it a different integer as a parameter.
I can preview the report in report viewer perfectly. When i try to export the main report into a pdf format
i get an exception. I have tried a few different formats and it spews the same error.
Oddly enough the export sometimes works if the report i am previewing has the "Save data in the report" check box checked. My guess is that this is cached. Also when i run just the subreports through my application, it works.
    Things i have tried:
      I installed: CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_13
      I installed: CRforVS_13_0_13
Took a look at the Procmon and i could not find an access denied error

I don't see where you're ever setting the logons for the tables in the report and subreports.  The reports with saved data are working because they already have data in them.  The reports without saved data are not working because they don't know how to connect to the database.
See the Database section here Crystal Reports for .NET SDK Samples - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki for more information about how to set the logons.

  • "system cannot find the path specified" error when deploying EAR

I am trying to deploy a J2EE based web service created in Sun Studio 5 to the SunOne AS 7.0.
I get an error saying "The system cannot find the path specified". I have followed the deployment instructions as closely as possible I think.
When I look in the file system for the file the system is trying to find, the whole directory it seems to be looking for (C:\Sun\studio5_se\appserver7\domains\domain1\server1\applications\j2ee-apps\PostCodeLookupApp_1)
is missing. (In fact there is nothing in the j2ee apps directory).
Got any ideas? Have I missed something?

  • Parsing the respective data in the String which is dynamic

    Hi,
I have customer application, in which we are handling the validation for customer details through a custom validator
For example, if I have not entered the mandatory value for custFirstName.I will get an error message in my java class as below:-
String errMsg = "Required value missing for CustomerVO.custFirstName"
Here I need to parse the error message (ie) I need only the field and VO which causes this error hence i need "CustomerVO.custFirstName" only
so that I can write the code to set the value for custFirstName
    Like
    if (mandatoryErrMsg){
//parse the errorMsg and get the respective field with VO (ie)CustomerVO.custFirstName
    //and set the value
    CustomerVO customerVO = new CustomerVO();
    customerVO.setCustName("xxx");
    save(customerVO);
Like wise i will get a different field with different VO
    Like :-
String errMsg = "Required value missing for AddressVO.State"
Here I need to write a generic method which parse the only the respective VO and field like in this case AddressVO.State.
Since the VO and field can be anything. What is the min and max limit we need set for parsing and hoe we can parse only the
respective VO and field. please provide your opinion on this.
    Thanks.

    Ram wrote:
As per your previous post, it seems you need to parse only the last word of the error message. You can easily get the last word of the error message by using substring and lastIndex() methods.
    For example,
    String errMsg = "Required value missing for CustomerVO.custFirstName";
String lastWord = errMsg.substring(errMsg.lastIndexOf(" ")+1);You will get "CustomerVO.custFirstName" as the value for lastWord. Now you can easily split the value String.split() method by "VO." as delimiter.
    lastWord.split("VO.");
That's one possible approach. Without knowing more details about the forms the error message can take, we can't know if it will work in all cases. Which I pointed out in my first response, and which the OP chose to ignore when demanding we solve his problem for him in his reply.

    Hi Abdul,
Check if the data you are getting for the two fields in your data loading are correct. I think it has some illegal characters(I guess it has a trailing space). If possible try and correct it in the source system itself.
If you are doing full load for the master data, everytime the system is going to pull these values in and throw error. One other way of avoiding it will be to maintain routines to eliminate these.
The quickfix will be to correct it at the PSA level and load it again.

  • Problem with the path of field  in process

    Hi,
We have a problem about data/FSFIELD_ too.
To create the form we have used a wsdl connection.
And when we make a process we have :
    /process_data/demandeForm/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/FSFIELDS_
So we can't acces to elments of the wsdl form.
When we execute the process nothing happend, so we think it's normal because we don't have acces to elements.
We have tried to change the path :
    /process_data/demandeForm/object//data/form1/Body/getRequestState/in0,
using the xml schema of the form ( form1/Body/getRequestState/in0 )
    and we tried /process_data/demandeForm/object//data/in0
    but this solution doesn't work.
    (in0 is the field name).
Have you any idea ? please

In the situation where no schema exists the process variable has no concept of the structure of the xml data that is being used. Hence it uses the FSFIELDS_ node as a placeholder for the root node. So if you know the path starting from the root to get to the node that you want then you can create an expression (by typing it in) that looks like this:
    /process_data/demandeForm/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/FSFIELDS_/rootnode/next node/next node/target node
Or you can use the XPath ability to search for the node by using a double slash. Th eexpression woul look like this:
    /process_data/demandeForm/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/FSFIELDS_//nodename

  • How can I debug a problem with the 3g data connection on my iPhone 4s?

This question didn't get any answers in the "Using iPhone" forum. Thought I would re-ask here. Note, I had to reset the network again today 2 days after the last reset:
I've been having intermittent problems with my 3g data connection on my iPhone 4s on ATT. Whenever this happens I see full bars etc, but can't browse from safari or get any data in other apps. My wife's iPhone 4 right next to me has no issues at all. Switching on/off airplane mode and turning off/on Cellular Data does not help. The only thing that helps is resetting the Network Settings or hard restarting the phone.
I figured my problems were hardware related so I took my phone in for a replacement the other day. Things started out fine but after I upgraded it to 5.01 and restored my backup and now I am back to having the same issue today. I assume the issue is with something coming from my backup / restore but is there any way for me to pinpoint what could be causing the issue. I have a lot of apps, I'd rather not have to reinstall and set them all backup manually, but I would if I knew that would fix the problem... but for all I know one of the apps could be causing it.
Anyone have any logs I can check or testing I can do on my end?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, Apple does not make any logs available to the average schmoe (like us) for networking, kernel dumps, or anything else (assuming, of course, it is not jailbroken).
Your best bet is to take it back into the store. Ask them to look at the notes in GCRM regarding the last time this occured, then explain after upgrading to 5.01 it is occuring again. Then ask them for a phone swap since it is a reoccuring issue and doesn't sound like an OS/SW issue. Good luck!

  • Vs2010 azure project remove instead of unload now cannot find a part of the path build error

I know this isn't a vs online question but I wasn't sure where else to post this one...
I have an azure project built in vs2010 with a web role and worker role project. I accidently removed the worker role project then re added through 'add existing project'. Now when I try and build I get
    Error 1   Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\Mat\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\MvcApplication7 - Copy (4)\CubeCloud1.Azure\WorkerRole1\'.    C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Windows Azure
    Tools\1.8\Microsoft.WindowsAzure.targets    987 5   CubeCloud1.Azure
Line 987 is the start of the  element.
Looking at the path, the folder WorkerRole1 doesn't exist but looking at back ups of this project it doesn't exist in them either.
I've tried adding the WorkerRole1 folder but then I get  Error 102 CloudServices38 : The entrypoint dll is not defined for worker role WorkerRole1.    C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Windows Azure Tools\1.8\Microsoft.WindowsAzure.targets
    987 5   CubeCloud1.Azure
I'm not sure going down the path of adding this folder anyway is the correct solution (I could be wrong of course).
    thanks,

I don't know why this worked but I made a copy of the solution. When I opened the solution it had lost a reference to one dll (Windows Storage I think). I added that, then it builds ok now.
