Problem pasting russian text

Hello all-
I sent some English InDesign source files to a translation company for a document, and received back translated Russian InDesign source files. After sending a pdf to the client for review, I received back a marked up pdf, with some requested changes to some Russian text included in the redlined pdf.
When I copy the russian text in the Acrobat pdf (contained in a Highlight box) and paste it into my Indesign Russian source file, the characters change. Sometimes the word will paste into a text frame correctly, with overrides. When I clear the overrides to apply to paragraph style I need, the characters change to something different.
Has anyone come across this kind of problem? The client reviewer inserts text changes using standard Acrobat markup features, but this text isn't pasting into InDesign correctly. (Happens in both CS4 and CS6)
I would appreciate any thoughts on this!! Thanks in advance...

and have both CS4 and CS6 available, same issue on both computers (XP). I
have attached an example, a page from the PDF that I received from the
client with a Russian word change. The new word will paste in ID with Basic
paragraph style applied, but when I change the style to one of my own
styles the characters change. I discovered that some of my other paragraph
styles do not change the characters, just some of them. Maybe a setting in
my styles is different? Maybe this helps.

They are erased when I press 'command+C", and all I have is a single letter 'c' instead. No problems with texts in English. Maybe Russian is not supported for copying and pasting?:(

This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
What can I do?

Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

Problem pasting text from Word into Mail

When I compose text in Word and paste it into Mail, paragraphs are separated by spaces that weren't in the original Word document and I have to do a lot of work to get rid of them. If I compose or paste the text in TextEdit and then copy the message into Mail, there's no problem. Is there a fix so I can just compose my messages in Word and then transfer them into Mail?

There's a mention there of the Mail menu option Format -> Make Plain Text, which may help you.
I filed a "bug report" with Apple (http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html) about quirky spacing in Mail messages and the lack of any editing feature to control such spacing. Maybe you'd want to do the same.

There is a preference item for clipbaord handling that toggles text ony or formatted text when pating from external applications. You may be pasting unformatted text.
And of course the fonts must be installed...

SQL Developer paste problem for large text in Linux

Hello,
I have a problem. I cannot paste large text (> 5000 lines) into the editor of a clob column. Pasting in general works. I mean I can paste the whole content e.g. to gedit or I can paste partially the text into the sql developer editor but not as a whole.
Colleagues on a Mac can paste the text into the editor. So it should not be about DB settings.
Can anyone tell me which setting I have to change?

I am trying to cut and paste arabic text from Word 2007 to indesign ( ENGLISH) CS4

No clue why
I have installed the arabic keyboard onto the computer
I have installed the arabic font from adobe
I have installed the script to switch text from left to right --right to left (I found that script here

Pre-CS4 I would either change the glyph order and the individual glyphs by hand -- for *extremely* short string only --, or simply print the original file (which is usually Word) to a PDF and place that as an image.
Jongware's method is the best easy way to achieve this (placing the PDF file, I mean - manually hunting for medial glyphs is something I'd only suggest for those who have some demonstrated familiarity with the script in question). If your client insists that you not use a placed PDF for complex-script languages ("The Arabic is a picture, and I can't change the color of the text! Please send me something editable.") and you have no ME tools, you can open up that PDF, save out an EPS file, and in the "Settings" button in Acrobat you can find the "convert all fonts to outlines," save, open up the EPS in AI, copy the handily outlined AR text, and paste that into InDesign. It doesn't work perfectly, but it will do in a pinch.

Copy and paste of texts into Smartforms

I have a design document that contains label texts for a Russian form. The characters look fine in the document, but when they copied and pasted into Smartforms, the characters turn into question marks.

That may be due to Unicode problem
Make the Texts conversion using SE63 and copy and see
See that the Russian language should be activated in the system to accept that language.

How can I keep my text format after pasting a text with a different format?

No matter when and where I start to write some text (whether it is a SImpleText, E-Mails, or anyother application's doc), if I have to cut and paste a text from a different source that is formatted differently than my original text (ie. the one I am already using ), once I have pasted the differently formatted text in my doc, the typeset changes while it continues to type with the same formatt used in the text I just pasted.
How can I continue typing with the same text formatt used before pasting the new text, after pasting the new text, without having to change size, font style etc. Is there a short cut?
What I have been doing to avoid this problem is: I usually type my entire text content (whether it is an E-Mail, or other doc) then, once I am done typing, I paste the text that was cut from a differently formatted document, so that my text remains with the same formatt in its integrity, while the pasted text stands out differently, but it is a bit complex doing that , because I not only have to remember to paste the other text when I am done typing (I run the risk of forgetting to paste the text I need to insert--which has happened already) or I keep struggling with my formatt change after the pasting of the new text, so my document text starts looking like the same text as the one which was just pasted.

(1) First, let's make sure we're talking about the same thing. By "SImpleText, E-Mails" you mean TextEdit and Mail, right?
(2) Some apps (TextEdit, Mail) use the text engine provided by Mac OS X. By and large, these apps will behave in a similar manner. Others (eg, MS Word) use their own text engine, and their behaviour can be quite different. For such an app you need to consult its manual.

Copy&paste formatted text from the web

I'm from IT department. Employees graphic gave me a difficult task. They need to copy text from the web browser which is underlined, into Illustrator. The problem is that while pasting the text loses it's formatting. I found the solution about pasting the text into MS Word and then import it AI. Unfortunatly they not accept that way, the said "we need something more easy, it's possible, someone told us". Is there any other way to copy text from the web browser to illustrator with keeping format? Maybe plugins? I'm googling about 2 days about it and didn't find any other solution. Please help me.

unfortunately it's not good solution because:
1.) "omg, too much clicking, we need ctrl+c ctrl+v"
2.) They change the text, change size, color, background etc in AI. When AI imports pdf all letters looks like seperate objects (it's hard to explain for me, because I'm not familiar with AI and my english is not good enough)

Strange problem pasting and backspacing in Mail.app

I've been having a strange problem in Mail.app when composing messages. Suppose I have a short, three-line message like this:
Hi John,
Here's the quote from Einstein:
Simple enough, right? So then I go to another application -- for example, Firefox -- to copy some text that I want to paste in. I put the text cursor at the point where I want to paste the text; in this example, after "Einstein:". I paste. And then it looks like this:
Hi John,
"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."
Here's the quote from Einstein:
That's right: it pastes the text ABOVE the line where I want it, instead of just on the same line. It doesn't matter if I choose regular "Paste" or "Paste and Match Style."
Now, I tried to be smart, and put a blank line below where I wanted to the text. When I paste it in, I get the pasted text below "Einstein:" just as you would expect. But if I click at the beginning of the pasted text, and then press backspace so it goes up to the previous line, then it jumps ABOVE the line I want and the result is identical to the one illustrated above.
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts. When I have copied text that I want to paste into an e-mail, I have to compose my messages elsewhere (usually BBEdit) and then paste them into Mail.app in their entirety. HELP!
Also, no: I have zero copy/paste problems in any other application. I have no clipboard add-on software, either.

I have the same problem. It also happens in notes.
Now I created a note in Mail on my Macbook and had this problem: Backspacing a line moved it above the previous paragraph. Then I opened the same note on my Ipad, and I did not have the problem, I could simply backspace the same line and it was connected to the end of the previous paragraph. What I did see in my Ipad note however was that the two paragraphs had a different font (which was not visible on macbook, until I edited it on my Ipad). Somehow my macbook mail creates unsolicited separate paragraphs, which use different invisble fonts, and these paragraphs may not be merged.
The same problem probably also causes email messages that I compose on my macbook to end up at the recipient in a very different font (i.e., lines/ paragraphs are larger and/or in different font.) than what I see when composing the message. This is really annoying, because it makes you look like a complete moron who is unable to compose a properly edited message.

Pasting big text in text area

I start it with -Xmx48m and if I try to paste 5mb text in the JEditorPane I have OutOfMemory. With 64MB I succeed to paste it, but Task manager shows that the program is using 80 MB of memory (before the paste it uses 13MB)! If I want to paste 10MB I need to start the program with 128MB heap and if I paste it consumes 150MB memory (again 13MB before this)! I have the same results with JTextArea and JTextPane.
Why these text components need so much memory to handle big text areas and is there a way to avoid this?

What's going on here, nobody can answer this....
I tried with 3 different SUN JDK versions, I tried with IBM JDK, the results are the same. It seems that it's not a problem of the JDK, but a problem of the language itself. If you want to work in your text editor with more than 1 MB text don't use JAVA.... Or use a machine with 4-5 GB RAM at least....

Cannot paste formatted text.

I am using ID CS 3 on a Macbook Pro, running OS 10.6.2.
My problem is that I have text formatted italic and bold from Text Edit but I cannot paste the formatted text (or import it) into ID without losing all formatting. I went to this Discussion Forum and looked there first and the only fix I am finding is to make sure that preferences allow me to paste formatted text. In my ID preferences it is selected that when pasting text from the clipboard that all styles will be retained but this is not what happens. I can copy and paste the formatted text in TextEdit and can also create formatted text within ID and copy and paste that as well. But I cannot do this between the two programs.
Any suggestions?

What I am trying to place is an rtf text.
What I have done since posting this issue:
1. Restarted ID several time, restarted computer.
2. Logged in on another account, bypassing all logon items.
3. Disabled all added plugins, leaving just the Adobe and required plugins.
4. Started with a fresh ID document.
None of this has solved the problem, I simply CANNOT paste in formatted text.
Other suggestions?
