Problem playing asf file on Win7

Hello!
I have Oracle Beehive 2.0.1.7.
There is no way to reproduce the recorded online-conference (asf) file by using the standard for Win7 player (version 12.0.7601.17514).
Installed Oracle Beehive Conferencing Codecs 2.0 from Oracle Beehive Download Center.
1. Can anyone explain why?
2. Is there any solution for this issue?
3. Which player (or Codecs) should be used to play asf files under Win7 SP1?
Happy New Year.
Dmitry.

Thank you, Zach!
Your link, which gives explanations and "workaround" helped me.
It works on Win7 32-bit.
On 64-bit no.
Perhaps the fact that I'm trying to decide this issue "clogged" the computer, different codecs and now Oracle Beehive Codec not registered Windows Media Player.
I will investigate.
Sincerely,
Dmitry.

  • Is there a plug-in to play ASF files?

New Mac user here... Is it possible to get a plug-in to play ASF files in Safari? Or I'll even download Firefox if necessary. There are a lot of great videos at Discovery Streaming, but they are all in ASF format. Any help is greatly appreciated.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    That's a Microsoft encoder...
Try the information here regarding Windows Media.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2223542
I'm pretty sure the Windows Media Player for Mac will do the job.
If your profile is correct, update your system software to 10.5.8. You can use the v10.5.8 Combo Update
You're new to Mac ... anytime you update system software or install new software, make sure and repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • How do I play .asf files

Can I play .asf files on my iPad

Look at link below to see if this helps. You can convert on a Mac or PC and then
import into iTunes on the computer to sync to your iPad.

  • Problems playing .mov files in QuickTime 7.2.0

    Hey everyone!
I have a problem with my QuickTimePlayer.exe application. It will play all other movies just fine, except for .mov files. It will open them and play .mov files, the sound will be fine, but the video is extremely choppy.
I FINALLY got to play .mov files by uninstalling QuickTime 7.2.0 and installing the Vista Codec Package 4.4.8, which contains QuickTime Alternative. The only problem is that it doesn't come with QuickTimePlayer.exe, which is what I want my .mov files to open with.
After hours of installing, uninstalling, and re-installing codecs, I discovered that it wasn't a codec problem at all. It was the QuickTimePlayer.exe application that was the issue.
But what's weird is that the exact same version of QuickTime on another computer will run .mov files *WITH QUICKTIMEPLAYER.EXE!!* So there's something going on with some settings in my computer.
I can't seem to figure this out. Does anyone else know what the problem could be? Thanks in advance!
    Brent

I've discovered the problem!! It was the latest release of the NVIDIA nForce drivers that were the issue.
For as to WHY this specifically affected the playback of .mov files, I can imagine how. It's weird how the one thing you least expect to be the problem actually IS the problem.
Anybody have any idea how it affects it?

  • Problem playing .rmvb files on 5800xm

    Hi,
I bought a 5800xm last week and I figured out that videos which were converted from .avi to .mp4 were huge in size. So I decided to try .rm format which is really compact in size.
The problem is that the files in .rm format play perfectly fine, but the ones in .rmvb do not play properly. While playing .rmvb files, the audio keeps playing but the video moves frame by frame slowly.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between .rm and .rmvb??
Also can you suggest a converter to concert .avi files to .rm?
i use Xilisoft converter right now but that has the option of converting files to .rmvb and not .rm.
Also how do i convert videos to wmv 9 format?
    Thanks,
    Rakshith

RM stands for Real Media. Real Media is one of the most popular formats for streaming content on the Internet, RealMedia includes the RealAudio codec for sound clips and RealVideo codec for movies. RealAudio and RealVideo files are often given the common RealMedia ".RM" file extension. RealMedia files are often heavily compressed so they can stream over dial-up Internet connections.
RMVB stands for Real Media Variable Bitrate. RMVB is commonly used to contain Real Video 9 and RA (Real Audio).
It is surprising that Xilisoft video converter cant support output for .rmvb... I advise you to try this best video converter, it supports output .rm and .rmvb from .avi perfectly, and let you edit the video files for high output effect... As for converting videos to wmv, this video conversion tool could fix it up easily too.

  • Problem playing MPEG1 files

    Hi everybody-
Anybody having trouble playing mpeg1 files that they were able to play before? In particular with audio? Any mpeg1 I have played fine a few days ago but all of a sudden the audio won't play. The equalizer shows that sound is supposed to be coming out but I hear nothing. All system sounds are playing fine as are .mov files. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sound plays in VLC. Looked at audio midi setup and the option for setting the 44100 Hz and 16 bit is for input. They were fine. I've seemed to have gotten myself into further trouble. So I deleted Quicktime in order to do a complete reinstall. Now I cannot laung and mpeg1 file at all. i get a 10660 error. Odd part is that my wife's account will launch and play the same file but still without sound. Any idea of what to check next?
Oops, so I went back again and looked at the audio midi setup and saw that under the output settings, it says output is not supported. I suspect that is certainly a problem. Odd that the system sounds work. Not sure what to make of that. Anyone know how to repair the fact that there are no settings under audio output?

  • Problems playing .f4v files in CS5.5 that were rendered from CS5.5?

Premiere Pro CS5.5 seems to have trouble playing .f4v files that it has rendered? I basically edit my video, (uncompressed .mov) export it as a .f4v file for YouTube which is about half an hour in length. I then get that half an hour video and do a video preview of what happened over the half hour… like a montage. I used to export my videos to .mp4 and I never had any problems when trying to do my montage edits, but now that I am using .f4v CS5.5 freezes the video but the audio keeps playing, the video won't play at all or it freezes during transitions (and the transitions are rendered before I try to playback my clips) The bottom line is that the .f4v format has never played back perfectly once and I could understand this if I had got the file from somewhere else but I rendered it from CS5.5? Can anybody help me with this please.
    Thank you
    Bird

Hi Jim, thanks for your reply What you have suggested, is what I think I will do. I think I'll create a new sequence from my exisiting sequence and do my montage edits that way instead of using .f4v or .mp4. Do you know why I was able to edit my montages from .mp4 with no problem but not from .f4v file format which was rendered from CS5.5? I just wondered why as this seems odd to me.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Playing .asf Files with Quicktime?

I have downloaded some video files, but they are .asf files, which are played with Microsoft Windows Media Player. Is there a way I can play these and possibly convert them with Quicktime? I am using QT Pro 7.0.3. I am currently using Flip4mac to open wmv files with Quicktime, but it doesn't work for asf files. Can anyone help?

You could probably use SnapzPro X2 ( http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ ) to capture the clips as they play on your desktop.

  • Front Row: problems playing WMV files

I’m running a Macbookpro OSX 10.5.7, and have been working to config Front Row to play the movies on my hard drive (not in iTunes). I’ve installed both flip4mac and Perian in order to play all file types. This works great for QuickTime and the web. Front Row, however, has a problem playing my wmv files (all others play fine). When a wmv file is selected in FR, it only plays for a few seconds, then stops and returns to the movie list. I researched the solution provided by VideoDrive, which works, but I prefer to organize my videos into subfolders by category, rather than all in an alpha list in iTunes.
If I play a wmv in it’s entirety in Quicktime, it will then play in Front Row. This tells me it’s some sort of cache issue? My attempt to test this theory has been inconclusive, prob due to my ignorance.
    Troubleshooting to date has been:
Quitting FR from the Activity Monitor
    Deleting user/library/preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist
    Uninstalling and reinstalling flip4mac
    Installing Perian
Would prefer not to have to rip all of my video to mp4 (I use iSquint), but I’m out of ideas.
Apologies in advance if this is covered elsewhere.

  • HELP!  can't play .asf files

i have a macbook pro. i cant seem to play a video clip that i have, which happens to be a .asf file. it plays the audio, but but no video. whenever i try to open it, it says that additional things r needed and leads me to the quicktime page online. im assuming its a codec issue, but i dont know what i need. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

The file with the .asf extension was encoded for Windows Media Player. You must have flip4mac installed as it can play most WMP files inside QuickTime Player.
Most. Not all can be viewed on our Macs.

  • Safari 4.0.5. problems playing mp3 files.

    Hi,
I'm having trouble playing mp3 files on my iWeb created website. When I use Safari (4.0.5) to browse, Safari does not display the player part of the mp3., and on my welcome page, it does not play the music that's set to autoplay.
When I use Firefox to browse the same website, all mp3 files work fine, including the mp3 set to autoplay on the welcome page !
I also tested browsing with Safari 4.0.4 running on OSX 10.5.8, (on another computer), and it works fine !
I'm guessing this means something is buggy with Safari 4.0.5. running on OSX 10.6.3. or could it be something else ?
Anyone notice this type of issues with Safari 4.0.5. ?
    Some feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks for confirming that you are experiencing a similar issue when using Safari 4.0.5 and try to play your mp3 files. As I mentioned earlier, Firefox displays, and plays the files perfectly !
This must be some kind of bug in 4.0.5. that Apple needs to fix.
I already sent Apple a bug report.
By the way, I used another computer running OSX 10.5.8 and Safari 4.0.4 to test my site, and found no issue, Safari 4.0.4 works fine, it played the autoplay mp3 file, and displayed the mp3 player without any issues. Which seems to indicate that this is a Safari 4.0.5. issue.

  • Problem Playing AVI Files From Adobe Classroom In A Book

    Hiya,
I just bought the Adobe Classroom In A Book for Premiere Pro CS4.  However, when I try to run Lesson 1, Premiere Pro appears to be having a cow with the AVI file needed for the project.  It tells me that the codec is missing or unavailable.  I'm using a MacBook Pro on Leopard and, according to the updater agent, I'm up-to-date.  Has anyone tried this book?  And run into problems?  Any solutions to offer me?  This is driving me bonkers!
    Please and thank you!

Hm-m, the DV-Type II's *should* play fine in QT. At least they do with QT on my PC. Adobe is usually pretty good at getting their CiaB assets X-platform. Wonder what's going on here. I think that this is the third thread on CiaB assets not playing on a Mac. Odd indeed, and probably just a "mess up" on someone at Adobe Press.
Had similar with a Painter 3.0 book, years ago. The author had to send me 11 CD's before we found one that had the PC files on it. All the rest were Mac-only and she was really pissed at her publishing house. However, she hung in there, and we got it sorted out.

  • How to play asf files on Mac OS X 10.9.1

VLC player gives me the audio but no video.
It pops up this error message when i paly .asf  fles "VLC player doestnot support audio or video form G2M3",Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix it".
These are some recorded class sessions in asf format, which I need to go through and learn.
Also, tried few asf converters but most of them won't allow large files. Most of my files are 100MB and more.
Looking for some suggestions...Thank you !

As the owner of the G2M3 codec, Citrix (makers of the gotomeeting products) will be in a better position to help you resolve your problem than anybody here.

  • Problems Playing Music Files...

When I try to play music in iTunes, the progress diamond moves, but there is not sounds. Videos work properly, and the music files play in other applications (WMP, Real, and Quicktime). I have read the help articles in the Apple Support section and a few similar posts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

Thanks so MUCH for writing AGAIN. Obviously, you're not understanding my problem.
Please check this thread: http://forums.creative.com/creativel...id=24057#M5295?for your personal research purposes. It's pretty frustrating when someone who has never experienced the same computer problem as you tells you it'scan/cannot be experiencing. I bought an X-FI Xtreme Audio last night, just to compare...put it in, and voila...mono files correctly upmixed with CMSS-3D.
?...anyways, enough is enough. But PLEASE don't be so PRESUMPTUOUS next time. Michael
