Problem playing back a song just downloaded from iTunes

hey everyone,
i just downloaded the Joss Stone Tell Me 'Bout It (A Yam Who? Rework) - EP and there is a problem with the radio edit of the song
whenever i play it, it plays to the 16th second, and then it goes to the next song, but if i fast forward, it will play through the rest of the song.... i tried getting out of iTunes a re-openin it, but it still doesnt work
the other song is fine
can anyone help me with this?

My brother just got a brand new iPod video and we are using the gift certificate to get free songs. We are able to download them on to itunes library and even on to the ipod. But when I try to play the songs we just purchased the screens comes up like it is about to play the song and then it goes back to the main menu of the iPod. I thought it was the song at first so I used my other iPod video and the song started playing on my ipod, but not on my brother's. Any idea why it won't? I updated the ipod, and restored it. I tried everything I could think of.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

When playing a video I have downloaded from iTunes I get the message "This Movie Cannot be played on this machine". The weird thing is that I downloaded the film from iTunes and while it was downloading I was watching it with my kids on my IMac. Once it had finished downloading I went with them to the living room Tao carry on watching on our apple tv. The apple TV wouldn't play it and said I needed to authorise my Pc, then the IMac gave the message above and I haven't been able to play it since. All my other downloaded films play. I am running iTunes version 10.2.2. And my iMac is Running Snow Leopard OS 10.6.7. Anyone who can shed some light on this weird situation will have my upmost thanks

I have the same problem. Been trying to find some answers, but not a lot of info about this. It seems to happen only when:
- itunes library is stored remote (NAS or external HD)
- starting a movie/show before download has finished will make it fail next time you try to start
Hope this gets fixed soon.. it's making purchasing content via itunes a hassle

Other people have been having similar problems with incomplete sone over the last few days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting it from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match

Only partial songs are downloaded from Itunes Match, they stop and go on to the next song. Any ideas?

I too had this issue. On the Downloads screen in iTunes simply uncheck the box at the bottom left that says "Allow simultaneous downloads". Next, delete any of the affected songs from your library and then re-download them from iCloud and songs should no longer abruptly cutoff or jump to the next song.

On my Mac, on the left side of the main iTunes window, the second group of playlists is marked "Store" and third on that list is one named "Purchased" and within it are all the songs I've ever downloaded from the iTunes Store on this machine over several years - many freebies along with the few that I paid for.

Can't play a track that I downloaded from iTunes.

I just downloaded an audiobook from iTunes. For some reason I'm not able to play the third track. It won't sync to my iPod either. The error that I get when I try to add it to my iPod is:
"Track Name" was not copied to the iPod "Jack's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod.
When I try to play it from iTunes, it won't even acknowledge that it is there. I can click on it to my hearts content and it won't play.
Any ideas?

First, I'd suggest unsetting your caps lock. It is generally considered inappropriate behavior to type all in uppercase letters in Internet discussions, as text that is typed all in uppercase is by convention considered to be shouting. Uppercase is also more difficult to read, so please use all uppercase sparingly and only when you really mean to shout, which we hope you won’t need to do here .
Anyway, what version of iTunes and QuickTime are you running? If you're not on the latest - iTunes 7.1.1 and QuickTime 7.1.5 - you might try updating and see if that makes a difference.
But if it's just one tracks that's having problems, and other tracks purchased from the iTunes Store play correctly, then you may have an incomplete or corrupted download. Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their Download FAQ web page (I recommend that you use the form, not the link in your Purchase History as they advise; that's not proven to be very reliable) and explain the problem to them.

Error -42023, song stopped downloading from itunes

I bought a movie soundtrack and only the first half of the songs were downloaded. It looks like the rest are fully downloaded because all of their statuses say 6.9 MB of 6.9 MB or 11.2 MB of 11.2MB. Except they all also say "stopped-err = -42023". And whenever I press "Resume Download" nothing really happens and I get a pop-up that says "There were some problems downloading some purchased items". It then suggests to check my internet connection--there is no problem with the internet connection. I did everything the iTunes help told me to do and nothing has worked. I even tried restarting my computer and buying the soundtrack again, but for the second time, the download stopped halfway through.

Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

Lost songs after downloading from itunes

I have gotten overly frustrated and decided to not use itunes for the last couple of months because of it! In July, I lost my itunes library when my hard drive crashed. I emailed itunes then and they told me how to get back the majority of the songs I had bought from itunes. I did these steps and found that I was still missing a great deal of bought itunes songs and albums. Some examples are albums by Jack Johnson, Colbie Caillat, and James Blunt. I did make a back up disk at one point of my itunes but I was not able to retrieve the songs off of this either. Now my itunes has the songs I was able to download back in July and a ton of broken links to all my other songs. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I would call Apple back, explain to them that you are very upset, and if that doesn't help, tell the Apple Customer Service people that your friends are hearing about the bad costumer service at Apple (because of this particular issue) and now you are recommending that they get a PC instead of buying a new Mac. I think that will do the trick! Don't forget the part about recommending to your friends to buy a PC instead of a new Mac, that will be the selling piece!

You can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption. The contact methods that are available vary by country (and possibly by time of day), but you might get options on that page.
You can turn off in-app purchases on your iPad via Settings > General > Restrictions > In-App Purchases 'off', and depending upon what version of iOS that you have on it you may have a Require Password option on the Restrictions screen that you can set to 'Immediately' (there is a default 15 minutes during which it doesn't need to be re-entered).

What is the recommended way to back up HD movies downloaded from iTunes?

They don't fit on a standard data DVD and when I try to back it up to my 500GB external hard drive it says its not formatted to files that size.

Using Time Machine is the simplest way to back up.

How is the drive formatted?
If it's DOS/FAT32, you can only size file sizes up to 4GB.
If you are using it on a Mac only, format it Mac OS X HFS+.
