Problem playing back canvas on external monitor

I am using Final cut express HD
When I play my final sequence (the one shown on the right hand screen of a standard layout, the canvas). All i get from my external TV is the audio, i cant get any picture. However if i then play a clip on the viewer (left hand screen) the external tv plays both the audio and video.
I'm trying to record to mini DV tape whilst playing through the TV. At the moment all I can record is audio.
HELP??!!

Try this:
- render the sequence (alt-R), and mixdown audio (alt-cmd-R)
- make sure the canvas zoom is set to Fit to Window

  • T61 display problem on both Internal and External monitors

    Hi,
I have Lenovo T61 of Type 7662, Model CTO. One month back the right hinge of my laptop has broken. Now the display on the screen is not at all readable. If I reboot the laptop, it is getting loaded, but the display on the screen is not readable and also it is displaying 4 windows without any clear visibility.
I thought the problem may be with the LCD cable under Right hinge. So, I tried to check this with an external monitor. But, the same problem is occurring on the external monitor also. So, I couldn't find what exactly the problem is. If anybody has this kind of problem, please help me on fixing this issue.
    Thanks,
    RamPap.

well the GPU issue is fixable under free repair, but given that your hinge is broken, not sure whether the free warranty applies in this case.
Basically you need a new motherboard.
Also, can you post a picture of the condition of the hinge? (upload it to tinypic or flickr, then link it here).

  • Anyone having problems with Safari on an external monitor with Lion?

I have an iMac with external second monitor. Upgrade to Lion.  Aside from it being terribly slow, and having typing problems (where first letter appears 4th or 5th when beginning to type), I've noticed the following:
On iMac monitor, everything works fine.
On the external monitor, it's often impossible to fill in a form.  Drag Safari over to the main monitor - no problem.  Drag it back - still can't complete a form.
Another example:  Netflix.  Plays on either monitor.  However, stopping and starting a movie with the mouse doesn't work.  With the space bar, it does.
Overall terribly disappointed in what Lion has done to my computer.

What exact problems are you having? I have been having intermittent problem with mine. Sometimes certain sites will not connect. I get a message that the server stopped responding. I open Firefox and it connects fine.

  • Problem playing back HDV from FCP HD

    FCP 5.0.4
I am doing my first HD project and am experiencing a problem I cannot solve.
Using both a Sony HDV HC1 and Sony HDR FX1 as playback devices, I cannot get the video to play back from FCP using HDV1080i60. Under Video playback, the options for the HDV are grayed out for the only firewire options:HDV(1440 x 1080) 30fps and 25fps. However, the option exists under Print To Video, and when chosen, will send HD1080i60p video to the cam>hi def monitor.
I have tried every possible setting on both cams to find a solution. Using DV NTSC I can get a work around. The cam's will both capture and control via FCP. Thanks for any advice.

No HDV decks will allow you to monitor external video from FCP through them UNLESS they are in the recording mode. So they just don't support this like DV devices do.
You need to look at a card for this. Least expensive would be the Intensity cards from Decklink. I like the MXO from Matrox too for this too... does more output, but has no input... I use an Io HD for that... and turn that slow rendering HDV to ProRes.. much faster rendering, and visually lossless.

    Hi,
I'm currently having hugh problems in playing back DVC pro 50 format in Logic Pro. The logic Pro i had is in a mac with 2.26 duo core intel with 8g of ram. It seem that the video never play in the right speed. It's a problem on the new release of logic Pro?
    Thanks.

  • Problem with T61 and DVI External Monitor (via Advanced Mini-Dock)

Ever since I upgraded to Vista SP1 on my ThinkPad T61 (with an Intel integrated 965 series graphics card), I've been having problems when I try to use an external monitor via the DVI port in my Advanced Mini-dock.  I'm curious if other people have experienced this problem.
The problems surfaces when I first boot up, or sometimes after my ThinkPad has been running for awhile (particularly when I do something graphics related, such as right-clicking to open display properties).  The picture starts to flicker (or disappear and reappear, like the screen does when changing graphics resolutions).  I also hear the "ba-bum" sound that you hear when disconnecting a piece of hardware, followed by the "bum-ba" reconnection sound - these two sounds happen repeatedly (sometimes as fast as once per second).  If I don't do anything, sometimes I'll get a bluescreen.
Not long ago, I found a fix of sorts: to stop the flickering/reconnecting, I just open Task Manager and stop the process called "igfxpers" (an Intel driver problem).  The problem always disappears after I do this, although I have to remember to do it every time I reboot or else the problem comes back.  So it's not an ideal fix.
This problem doesn't happen when I connect an external monitor using the analog VGA port, or when I'm just using the notebook LCD.  It's limited to just the DVI connection.  I've tried two different digital monitors (one LG, the other BenQ) as well as two DVI cables - the problem is still the same.  So it seems like a driver problem of some sort - unfortunately, the Intel drivers haven't been updated since last February.
I should also note that I've tried reinstalling my OS two or three times, and the problem always comes back.  Has anyone else had this problem, and is a fix on the way?

    Error Message:
Input signal out of range. Translation:
You will see this on an otherwise blank screen. Assuming that the data cable is plugged in correctly, the video card is feeding the monitor a signal stream in excess of what the monitor can accommodate. The two main causes for this are that the user has set either the resolution or the vertical frequency rate too high. For example, you might set a new graphics card to display at 1,280 x 1,024, but if the monitor is only capable of 1,024 x 768 resolution, you’ll get a Sync Out of Range error. This is especially common in 14-inch monitors.
    Solution:
Because you obviously can’t make settings changes from within regular Windows, you’ll need to reboot into Windows Safe Mode. When you restart the system, there is a point during boot up when the system switches from reporting diagnostics and detected components to loading Windows. This point is usually accompanied by a beep and the screen going black. Just before this point, you want to start repeatedly pressing the F8 key. This should bring up a menu of Windows boot options. The one you want to pick is Safe Mode.
From Safe Mode right-click the Desktop and select Properties. Go to the Settings tab and use the slider to drop your resolution a notch or two. Reboot and let Windows try to go into Normal mode. If this still doesn’t work, go back into Safe Mode and get to the Settings tab of Display Properties. Click the Advanced button, go to the Monitor tab, and check your refresh rate. The lowest advisable rate is usually 60Hz, although this works better for LCDs (liquid-crystal displays) than CRTs (cathode ray tubes). Apply the change and reboot.

  • Audition 1.5 has problem playing back MT session if I have a ton of stretched clips

I might be doing something AA is not designed to do, I don't know. Perhaps (I wish) there are a lot easier ways of doing this, but I have a band that recorded, with a song that has 8 vocal tracks, singing as a group. However, they don't all start every word/phrase exactly at the same time, but should - therefore I use the clip stretching abilities in MT to cut the track up each place it's off and stretch it to fit. Normally I don't need to stretch it much at all, but after that tedious job is done the overall project sounds a lot better.
However, now I have this session that has maybe 150 stretched clips (pretty crazy, huh?) and it takes about 30 minutes or more to open. Problem is, now it won't play back decently for some reason; certain tracks sound like a bunch of garble and warble - nothing that can be made out. I do not know if all the stretched clips have anything to do with it. The wave files appear the same as before - example, you can see where a louder portion of audio is but it is nothing synced with what I hear on the speakers.
I should also mention that I had an under-rated computer run AA one time and the same thing happened there so I thought it just got tired and so I restarted AA and it worked fine after that. Here I also restarted AA but the problem is not better - worse if anything.
Some tracks play fine, others don't. Another thing of interest is that I have only stretched the vocal tracks; by far the worse garble is on the instrument tracks; they even play back as quirks and garble in Edit View if I go there.
Anyone have any solution why this happens? Am I over doing AA in some way?
Also, is there a more automated way of matching and syncing vocals? I'm talking about them being .1 - .01 seconds off the beat; is there some way AA will automatically stretch clips to match beats with - say - the beat markers?

I am not surprised at all by your reply!
I would do that, soon as I'm done with stretching/timing adjustment; thing was I was still 10 seconds from the end when it started acting up. But Just as a safe precaution in case it would do something like that I had already backed up a couple of times so thankfully I don't need to do it all over again!
So, you don't think that "set beat markers" (or something like that) can be locked to beats in MT? For example if I run the "Find and Mark" beats in EV and then use those beats to snap to the closest beat in MT, stretching the file as need be in order to get it there.. ? Maybe I'm dreaming out of this world.. Next time I'll have to force my clients to sing until they sing it dead on right!
    Thanks for your response!

  • FCP Problem with Firewire output to external monitor and speaker ???Help

i have a g5 powermac. the problem is when using Final cut pro 4hd. when i output my work through firewire to my external monitor and speaker i have a problem with the audio signal. Theres feedback/noise/hiss from the speakers. The firewire connects to DSR-11 vtr deck which feeds my monitor and speakers. it only happens when in FCP is set to A/V firewire output. does not happen if Video output is not set to firewire.
I Diagnosis is that it is not my dsr-11 deck or firewire i've ruled those out. The problem is either FCP software or Hardware problem with my G5
Does anyone have a similar problem. please respone, i will try to answer any respones,
    Thanks
    powermac g5     powermac

    CaptM
From the firewire that feeds the dsr-11. on the output, i use s-video cable to my monitor (sony pvm-14l) and High Quality rca cables thet feed the audio to the Roland Speakers.
I've changed all wires and still have audio problem. I,ve changed my Dsr-11 deck to my camcorder and still have the problem.
If any of u guys use FCP The problem happens When I select view> external Monitor > and select firewire for Audio/ and video. I have never changed my editing habits, something just went wrong with the signal, I think its a Hardware problem with the firewire connection. I'm Going to have to bring this to a Apple Service Center In my local area one day.

  • Problem: MBP Is not allowing external monitor Widescreen resolutions.

I am using a 27" LCD HD TV (Yes, TV, not monitor) DVI->DVI and the MBP will not allow me to use a widescreen resolution on my external monitor.
Yes, I assure you, it is Widescreen. The native resolution is 1280x720.
Anyone have a clue how I can fix this? Running a stretched 4:3 screen ***** HARD. This was my old windows PC monitor and I never had this issue before.

    Hi,
I've got the same problem. Tried SwitchResX with not much success. I'm using as second screen a Benq w100 projector. When I force resolutions like 854x480 at about 60Hz, the projector won't recognise it, which makes sense since the input is not supported as such from a PC.
I think the clue would be sending a HDTV/HDMI signal through the DVI cable. Has anybody managed to do this with the ATI Radeon X1600 that comes with the MBP?

  • Problem connecting U310 touch with external monitors/projectors/TV

I spend almost 80% of my day in front of laptop or computers, running simulations, preparing ppts or report.
Liked the looks and light weight of the LENOVO Ultrabook U310 touch laptop so much, that I ended up buying it.
Except for look and light weight the laptop and LENOVO have turned into a big disappointment.
Found the laptop extremely slow.. on top of it, the LCD hinge broke down within few weeks.
The latest problem is with connecting external monitors or projectors. The laptop connects external monitors only if I uninstall driver and reinstall it. The connection is again lost if I reboot, and the driver again needs uninstalling and Reinstalling to connect any external monitor. Appreciate any suggestions
    Best,

Could be your TV is using DVI-I and apple adapter
    using DVI-D.
Hope this link provide information you need:
    http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html
Looking at the photos provided in this link, here is the details of what I´m using :
    - standard mini-DVI to DVI-D Dual Link (provided by Apple)
    - connector on the TV is DVI-I Dual Link
    - cable provided by LG with the TV is DVI-D Single Link
Reading the comments regarding apple adapter, I came to this : "If you want to hook up some other sort of monitor (analog, DVI-I, ADC), this is not for you, or you may need an additional adaptor. ". I guess I´m in this situation but still don´t know what type of adapter or cable I should use...
Other possible solution : My TV has also HDMI port, I could try a DVI to HDMI cable but it´s quite difficult to find it here (south of spain...)
Does anyone have an idea with these new informations ?
    Thanks in advance.

Note: the external monitor works fine with my desktop computer and with a T400 laptop.

    Follow-up:
I have tried the latest "generic" Intel driver after completely uninstalling the device driver from device manager: without success.
I have tried another monitor from a different manufacturer: no luck.
To eliminate the device driver as a possible cause, I tried booting from an Unbuntu boot CD: no luck.
I have enabled boot display on the VGA port in the BIOS: screen remains black.
I am suspecting that the VGA port on my brand new Lenovo Thinkpad T420 is simply not working at all.
I have opened a call with my hardware support.

  • Major Problem - LCD Screen Unreadable - Using External Monitor - First Aid

My LCD Screen is cracked, and only 5% of the screen is readable, and I dont have the resources to have it repaired, so have been using an external monitor to do my computing needs.
However, somehting happened to the OS X, and it MUST be repaired according to Disk First Aid. Putting the CD, and I want to force the output of the CD to be put on the external monitor, not the LCD since I can't read it. How can I make it show on the external monitor?

    Hi Chef
Insert your System CD an select it as startup volume in "SystemPreferences"/"StartupDisk". Restart your book and close the lid right after the chime. Voilà, your external screen should be main screen now.

  • No video playing in canvas or on monitor but audio is fine

I was setting chapters markers on the timeline for DVD export and somehow hit the wrong key so when I play the video on the timeline, the audio is fine and is heard on my monitor but the video doesn't appear in the canvas (black only showing) and shows only the first frame of the particular clip on my monitor. I checked video external settings and it is set to 'all frames'.
Any ideas how I screwed this up. It's in the settings as I went back to an autosaved version from 5 minutes previous and the same problem.
    thanks for any assistance.

    The key, btw, is w.

  • Playing ipad2 video on external monitor

I have a built-in (into back of headrests) dvd player in car, want to play ipad2 video content but the only inputs are mini-usb (5pin) and 3.5mm aux, can this be done?

under, "using the auxiliary input jack" the manual says "The monitor has a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack labeled AUX located on the bottom left of the screen.  To connect an external source (video game system, camcorder, etc.) to the monitor, use the supplied 3.5mm to RCA auxiliary input adapter cable (which I did not receive from installer so I'll have to ask about it) ... so once I have this adapter cable, I should be able to buy the composite AV cable for the ipad that you recommended, right?
