Problem playing selected music with slideshow

Hi
I am having trouble playing music with slideshows since updating to iphoto 6. I can see all my playlists and I am able to select the playlist I want and this will play in the 'play music during slideshow' window. However, when I play the slideshow I receive an error message telling me that 'the music you have selected can't be found or can't be opened'.
This has only been a problem since updating and it doesn't matter what playlist I choose - they will all play in both iTunes and the selection screen for the slideshpw but not actually with the slideshow (the play music with slideshow box is ticked).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am about to throw my mac out the window.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of Quicktime are you running? You should be at 7.1.5. If not update to it and give it another try.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problems playing some musics with iOS5

After I updated my IPhone 4 with iOS5, I'm having problems to play some musics on it. I can see the music, but when I hit play, nothing happens. Any idea?

I am having the same problem. After I updated, now when I shuffle songs it will skip past some songs and not play them. Then it will look like it is playing other songs, but nothing happens. I have to close the player and open again to get it to work. It skips about half the songs on my phone, and it appears to be random. I would love to know if there is a way to fix this without completely deleting the music off my phone and resyncing everything.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • IPhoto will not play iTunes music in slideshow

Slideshow I created in iPhoto will only play theme music.  When I select my music from iTunes, the slideshow does not play the music. I have made dozens of slideshows before without this problem.  Seems to be a bug with iPhoto now.  Any suggestions??

Assuming this is for iPhoto on your Mac:
Launch iTunes use the File -> Library -> Organize Library -> Reorganize Library menu option. Then quit and relaunch iPhoto.

  • I am losing music with slideshows in iPhoto.

After a recent automatic update (I think to the operating system), the iPhoto program began losing all music associated with slideshows, seemingly whenever the power was completely shut down.  I am using iPhoto 11, version 9.4.3.  After the power has been shut down, the music files previously associated with the slide shows are no longer associated.  I can see my iTunes library in the iPhoto program, but it will not let me add music, and gives me an error message something to the effect of, "...cannot be added because the original file cannot be located."  If I go into iTunes and create a new playlist, I can then again add music to the slide shows.
I did not have this problem prior to the recent updates.  Is there a way to maintain the link between the iPhoto slide show and the music even if the power is shut down?  It seemed to be able to do this prior to the recent updates.
Is there a way to save the entire slideshow to a file or DVD, so I can simply play it from a DVD or re-load it?
This seems to be an issue with the recent updates required by Apple.
    Thanks.

    1. As a former and current PC user, I have had several problems because I failed to update PC programs as recommended (security patches in Adobe Flash Player, etc.).  I assumed Apple was the same way; the programs would generally work better and be more secure if I installed the recommended updates that periodically arrived from Apple.  Perhaps I am mistaken and you could offer some better suggestions.
    2. I am using iPhoto '11, version 9.4.3.  It may not be the version I was using when I initially encountered the problem a few days ago.  When it happened, I checked the Ap store for recommended updates, and there was one for iPhoto, so I updated to see if that would fix the problem.  It does not seem to have fixed it.  I purchased this iMac as my first Apple system nearly two years ago, and have been using the software that came installed on it, altered only (as far as I know) by the recommended updates.  I generally really like it.  I am using Mac OS X version 10.7.5.  I don't know how to check to see if the iPhoto version is compatible with the OS X version
    3. The exact error message is, "The song "____" could not be used because the original file could not be located."
I have some slide shows on the iMac that we put to music out of iTunes and play on the iMac.  As long as the computer is put to sleep, and not shut down, the link to the music remains.  If the computer gets shut down, the iPhoto loses the link to music files.  When I open iPhoto, the slide show is there, but the music does not play with the photos.  When I open the music settings, I can open and see my iTunes library, but when I drag songs into the field for the slide show, it will not allow the songs to remain in the field.  I then double click again on the song I just tried to add to the slide show, and the error message above appears.
I went to the support page, and it suggested that I close iPhoto, go into iTunes, copy the iTunes Music Library.xml file to the desktop, go back into iTunes, create a new playlist, then open iPhoto and try again.  Going through this process seems to allow me to again add iTunes songs to the slideshow.  I just lose everything again whenever the power shuts down.  I thought saving the slideshow onto a DVD might work, but I have not figured out how to do that yet.  Is that a reasonable solution?  I could potentially save them to a DVD, flash drive, or the back-up Airport disk.  It appeared in the support community that people had difficulty with saving the format when the slideshow was saved directly from iPhoto, but that it worked better when first transferred to the video program (iMovie?).  I have never used the video program and don't know if I even have it.  I welcome any suggestions you may have.
    4. I have not noticed any other strange things with iPhoto.
    Thanks for your help,
    B

  • Why can't I play my music with version 10.6.1.7?

I just upgraded my iTunes software to version 10.6.1.7 from the previous version 10.6.0.40 the other day. Now, I can't play out any of the music on my computer. When you click on any song, the play head does not advance at all.
Can anyone help me out here? I'd gladly downgrade back to my previous version if I knew how. This is extremely frustrating. Even when I pop a CD into the computer, it brings up iTunes and I have the same issue.
This was not an issue at all with my previous version.

I uninstalled iTunes, downloaded it again and re-installed it. Same issue. Did a Windows System Restore on my computer for a few days before I initially updated the iTunes software to 10.6.1.7. Computer showed my version of iTunes to be 10.6.0.40. Only problem now is that I'm still having this issue, and it was not an issue prior to the upgrade. Please keep in mind that the day I did the upgrade, I did not go into iTunes to play any music, so I did not see the problem on the day of the initial upgrade.
In a nutshell, I cannot play my music files with any software programs, not even in Windows Media as it does not recognize the files.
On my wife's computer in iTunes, the pop up for the upgrade came up today while I was checking her computer. I clicked on do not install. I don't trust it and now I wish someone could help me salvage my account on my computer before I do something drastic like wipe the computer clean and re-install everything.

  • Re: How do solve volume adjust problem on background music with voice

I have using Captivate 6,i have facing in adjust volume on  background music with voice when drag play bar and using backward, forward buttons in preview.

    Hey there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions.
If your iPod, is a 30 GB model, then it is a 5th generation iPod. This information can be found here: [Identifying iPod Models|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353]
There are a few ways you could go about solving this issue. The first thing is to enable Sound Check on your iPod, which can be found under *Main Menu -> Settings -> Sound Check*. Next, be sure the option is also enabled in iTunes. The setting is in iTunes preferences Playback pane. Place a check next to the box for *Sound Check*.
Another option is to adjust the overall volume of the song in iTunes, and then sync the updated changes to your iPod. To do this, locate the song(s) in iTunes, right->click and choose *Get Info* from the menu. From there, head over to the Options tab. Move the slider up and down depending on whether you want to bring the overall volume up or down and then hit Ok when you are finished. Lastly, sync your iPod to update the changes made to the altered songs. See if that helps.
There are also excellent 3rd party applications that can adjust the songs overall volume. One can be found [HERE|http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net>.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to play itunes music with the computer shut?

Not without either an external monitor and keyboard, or using a hack. If you want to try an hack app, look into:

You cannot use the back arrow to go back to the previous song like the new song was the beginning of the play list. Sometimes the songs will play through but most of the time they skip through. It happens at random times for each song and different times everytime the same song is played. I have 3.1.2 OS i think. Any help would be appreciated.

  • HT1349 I recently upgraded my iPad to the ios5 and now my already downloaded videos will only play the music with no video, any suggestions?

I recently upgraded my IPAD to the ios5 and now my already downloaded music videos only play the music and no video plays. any suggestions?

When you say that the orientation lock doesn't work, we have no way of knowing if that means that the screen is locked in one position only, or that it will not lock in one position only. So try something g very basi and reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
In the camera app, you have to swipe up and down on the screen to move between photo, video and the square photo mode options, so are you even in the correct mode to take videos?

  • IPhoto Inability to Play Selected Music

    iPhoto '09 v 8.1.2 (424), OS 10.6.5
In the Slideshow creation module, subset "Music Settings", I get one song in the upper window. Whether I double click this song (where it plays appropriately), or click the "Play" button next to the search bar (in the middle of the "Music Settings")(where it also plays appropriately), and in both cases click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the "Music Settings", when I reopen the slideshow and play it (or preview it), the chosen song never is played; instead it plays a song I had selected over a year ago for another slideshow. The problem has persisted for this past year on any new slideshow.
Thus, any advice as to how to select a song and appropriately, permanently attach it to a selected slideshow, instead of having an old song play with all new slideshows, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

Backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
