Problem: Playlists within folders not selectable as Photos music

1) Sync a playlist that is within a folder
2) Go to Photos->Settings->Music
3) You will see the folder name, but cannot select a playlist within that folder to play during slideshows.

Playlists within a folder are alphabetically ordered. You may need to pad your playlist names with spaces or leading zeros to get the order you require.

I am having a problem when I try to select a photo or itunes song in Imovie or other programs. I get a window with grey lettering that says: "Open Itunes to populate this list" or "Open iphoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list. I have tried relaunching programs and nothing appears. Seemed to start happening a while back after one of my system upgrades.

After a a lengthy conversation with Apple Tech. ($20), my problem seems to be solves. The Iphoto problem solved by trashing the plist file. The Itunes was more involved. We had to create a new Itunes folder and import the files into the new folder; and then import the playlists.

Playlists in folders not in same order on iPod as in iTunes

I use iTunes version 11.01 on Mac system 10.6.8. I have iPod classic 2.0.4
I have created playlist folders which contain playlists in certain order. When I synch iPod, the order within playlist folder changes as follows:
Playlists names containing numbers which I want in numberical order such as "song 1" "song 2"....."song 10 "song 11" are resorted on iPod as
"song 1" "song 11" "song 12" ......"song 19" "song 2" etc...
So if there is a number in the title it does not keep standard numberical order but first sorts by all numbers with first character as "1" and then does the same for "2". In other words it would count and sort sequence of playlist titles having name song x where x is 1 throught 25 as:
1/10/11/12/13/14/15/17/18/19/2/20/21/22/23/24/25
How do I get it to leave the order in the logical order? Do I need to call them 01/02/03 etc...

Once you've created a Playlist folder within the iTunes Source list, you should be able to drag folders, playlists, or smart playlists within them without issue. Make sure that when you're dragging playlists into the folder, you're actually dropping the playlist onto the folder, and not the Smart Playlist.
Also, regarding your question about tagging artwork. I would suggest selecting all the tracks in the album, go to File > Get Info. This will allow you to edit the song details for the entire album at once. You'll notice that there's a box for Artwork, just drag in the artwork into that box and you should be good to go.

How to not backup apps, photos, music into my laptop?

My sister has an iPad, she wants some of my apps to be installed in hers. But when I synced it, it was backed up. My laptop's memory usage increased. I don't want her music, photos, and apps also to be synced in my iTunes because it will consume the memory. Please help. Thank you very much!

Synced folders not showing as photo albums

iphone 1.1.1, itunes 7.5.0
I select a folder under itunes photos to sync, it syncs the files over. i go to camera, open albums, the only album shown is camera roll, i noticed this a few weeks back, before.. dont remember if it was before i updated to 1.1.1 it would show my other folders i synced from itunes as their albums, lets say Vacaion, Graduation... so on.
If i go to about, in the settings, it shows the correct photo count, the camera roll photos plus the photos it synced over.
Then i installed a 3rd part application, CameraPro, if i click on Photos in that, it shows Camera Roll and my.. missing albums...
So the photos did sync over, as the correct album, the iphone camera applicaion wont show them? strange!

You might want to do a reset and/or restore on the iphone.

Renaming within folders AND select case of 'xmp' extension

This is 2 requests.
1. I love the rename, but it would be *so* much more handy if I could point it to the top of a folder and have it rename all files within that folder and any subfolders within. Obviously, it would only rename the files and not folders.
2. Provide an option where the .xmp sidecar files can be lowercase or UPPERCASE. I ask this because the CR2 (Canon) raw files are upper case and on systems with case sensitivity (ie macs) some other tools are looking for UPPERCASE .XMP files but Bridge writes out lowercase .xmp files. The other app, is, of course, iView, the next step in my workflow.
I know I have another request, but I can't think of it right now.

Just to add a similar suggestion to Simon's first one--the ability to apply the "replace metadata" or "append metadata" function to a folder and the contents of its subfolders would save countless hours for those of us who handle thousands of images on a daily basis.

New folders not selected and re-namable

*Hi people, I've run into a strange Finder behavior.*
*Since a couple of week, when I create a new folder, its name is not automatically selected and changeable, but the folder is simply highlighted.*
*Even more strange, this only happens if the Finder window is in List view, not in Icon, Column or Cover Flow view modes. In these last three views, any new folder is automatically in "rename" mode as soon as it is created.*

Then, the issue is system-wide and requires reinstalling the OS. Start with downloading and reinstalling the 10.5.8 COMBO update, repair permissions, restart, and see if that fixes things. Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

Torch 9860 does not show saved photos, music, video

I am unable to see the pictures taken on my phone Torch 9860, or synched music/video. However, i can see them through the desktop software and copy them.
I am using phone memory only no additional SD card being used.

What version of iPhoto? Is OS X 10.6.8 as you state correct for your OS? Do you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state)? Were is your iPhoto library located? If it is on your external drive what format is the external drive? If it is on your external drive did you safely and correctly disconnect your external drive while iPhoto was not running? What ese can you tell a total strange that might assist them in heling you?

Sounds like an issue with the iLife integration, rather than the apps.

How to make a layer not selectable in CC?

After recent update (CC) the feature which was allowing the invisible layers (turned off by "eye" icon) to be not selectable by Move Tool is gone.
So when one have a web page design with 300 layers and 3 states in groups and you decide to deactive some of them (make them invisible) you can still select them. So overall it makes imposible to selecet anything. You must do it manualy on the Layers pannel.
See image below - so instead of selecting only visible layers (like in previous versions) now onet is forced to select every possible layers so in most cases all present layers in the file.
Anyone have an idea how to work solve it?

Copying photo & music libraries backwards

Hi -
my problem, is how can I copy my Photo & Music libraries from my iMac running OSX 10.5.6 and iPhoto 7.1.5 "backwards" to a G4 Powerbook running OSX 10.4.6 and iPhoto 5?
Connecting the two via Firewire copies the libraries OK, but the Powerbook cannot "see" them. Similarly, I cannot copy the newer versions of iPhoto & iTunes to the Powerbook.

You can’t. No early version of iPhoto can open a later version’s Library. So iPhoto 5 cannot open an iPhoto 7 library, though v7 can open a v5 one.
The OS version doesn’t matter.
You’ll need to update the Library on the Powerbook.
You cannot copy the applications over. Apart from possible licensing issues, you need to install iPhoto from an Installer disk.
You can download a later version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/

Photo folders not showing on ATV

Hi,
Just set up my new ATV yesterday, and overall I really like it. However, I do have one problem with photo syncing.
I set up iTunes to sync all the contents of a folder on my iMac called "Photos". All 2,500 photos appear to have synced to the ATV. The problem has to do with sub-folders, or more specifically sub-sub-folders.
My "Photos" folder has two main sub-folders within it, each of which in turn contains multiple sub-folders. For example, the "Photos" folder has a sub-folder called "By date", which in turn contains sub-folders named by the date the photos were taken (e.g. "Jan 2009"). On the ATV, when I go to "My Photos", I am shown a list of the top-level sub-folders, one of which is this "By date" sub-folder. But when I click on the "By date" folder, I am not shown a list of the available sub-folders - I am simply shown thumbnails of all the photos from all the sub-folders in this "By date" folder together. It's as though the "By date" folder didn't contain any sub-folders, and all the photos in the sub-folders were just all together in the "By date" folder. Obviously this makes it rather difficult if I want to look at photos from a specific collection or time period.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone recommend a solution?

Events folders display photo that is not the actual photo file

When I open an event file, the photos displayed are not the actual photos. For instance, in the event "Graduation," I now have random photos of my daugher's dance recital displayed, but when I open them, the photos are indeed of graduation. So, I can't see what photos are in an event until I open each photo file There is no rhyme or reason to what photos randomly pop up on the surface, and it doesn't happen with all the files within an event, just some. Please tell me someone else has had a similar problem as it is making me feel a bit batty!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. How do I created multiple folders within folders (subfolders) in "Photo". It happens in the first level when I use the Albums folder, but thereafter it doesn't allow me to create another folder within the folder. I can also not drag a folder into another, after the first level of folders. Please help.

Yes you can. Click once on the top folder and use the File ➙ Create Folder menu option. A new folder will be created inside the selected folder:
