Problem previewing files in browser

Hi,
I have no idea what has happened but for some reason, when I select 'save for web and devices' and try to preview my images in the browser, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The problem has only recently started though I've never changed any of the settings.
I'm using PS CS5 extended 64 bit, on Windows 7. Sorry, my technical savvy doesn't go much farther than that.
Can anyone suggest where I go to fix it?

doesn't seem to matter what type of image. I've tried saving them as jpg and/or png (usual formats I save in) and it doesn't matter. All that shows up in the browser is the image info box, but not the actual image preview itself.

Problem Previewing Spry in Browser

Hi,
I've been following the Adobe online tutorials, and I'm
failing miserably with Spry. Even the pre-worked, finished example
files will not display properly in Internet Explorer 7. I refer to
the files regarding "Using the Spry Framework for Ajax" and "Using
Spry Widgets". In both cases, an XML file called Events.XML is used
to supply the bound data.
This is the error message I get when I view in Internet
Explorer 7:
Exception caught while loading events.xml: [object Error]
Am I missing something? I have used bound databases before
with ASPs, but I feel like I'm missing something fundamental.
If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this I would be
grateful. I'm not very confident with it otherwise.

I have inserted a spry collapsible panel into my website, made ZERO
adjustments to any of the scripting or even css styling
That is good, that means that I have a local copy of the scripting and css files eliminating the need to attach the code to a post.
Is something wrong with the js file? I tried the panel earlier on a
different site on the same computer and it was working fine
The fact that it works on a different site means that something is correct. My assumption is that the scripting and css files are doing their job correctly and to answer your question regarding the js file, no.
Having eliminated the Spry original JavaScript and CSS files as being the culprits, there must be a problem with the rest of the site, incorrect HTML, other interfering JavaScript or CSS.
I can keep guessing, but only those persons that are privy to your code can give you any positive input. Please find a way to upload your files so that we can see the code in context.
To this end, screen captures do not assist in solving the problem, they only add to others' amusement at seeing the problem.

Problems previewing file and with flash action

I am using Acrobat.com for my children's book in order to send it out to agents and it has been working well since October. I have checked it several times and there were no issues but today it will not preview either file any longer and the flash page turner is no longer working. I upoaded a new version of the same file and it is working but the link I sent out to agents will only allow a download now. Just wondering what may have caused this. I read where someone else had a similar issue but there was no result posted. The page turning issue, though not really an important feature, is just something I really liked about the program. Thank you.

This should have been a temporary issue - the preview function should be working normally for the new file now. Please lmk if this is not the case.

Help - delay when previewing oam-file in browser

Hi,
I have created a drag-and-drop exercise in Edge Animate. I've then placed the OAM-file in Muse, but when I select "preview page in browser", my OAM-file has a delay - I can't drag and drop the objects until about 4 seconds has passed. The drag-and-drop function loads instant if i preview it in the browser from Edge Animate or from the Muse Preview-mode. Can I fix this delay in someway, or what causes it?

Ask in the right place and you might get an answer, in this case a forum specific to your browser (which you don't even mention, I'm pretty certain that every browser has a different way of doing things like that if they do it at all).

A is the way it should look and B is what happens after I have I opened several tabs. I can get it back to normal if I click on VIEW than click on customize. When the customize window appears FireFox returns to its normal state. I than click on the done box and go back to what I have been doing. I tried resetting FireFox back to default settings, but that did not correct the problem.

I am not sure how to find or change the profile directory. File Open Problem. Open in Browser But need in Access

Dear friends,
I developed an application in MS-Access and having as "FutureStat.bak" I want this file to be distrubuted over network. So, i placed the file in Stat folder under root folder with an index file which gives a hyperlink to this file.
If i use tomcat 4.1 it prompts for Open With / Save
But my company is having Tomcat 5.5 , which opens the file in browser. with some unicode format. I need tomcat to prompt for Open With or Save is there any code for opening ???

It's more likely a configuration problem in the server itself, it must be configured to open that format for some reason.
You could create a download server which reads the file from disk and outputs it to the browser using the content-type "application/octet-stream". That will force a download box. Search this forum, it is asked almost every day.

Problem removing files with CVS (JDeveloper 10.1.3 Preview)

Hello,
I've got a problem removing files from CVS :
- I right-click on the file I want to remove -> Versioning -> Remove
- The file is removed from local directory, and it appears in "Pending changes" view, on "Outgoing" tab. Its status is "scheduled for removal".
- When I commit the file in the "Pending Changes" view, and click OK, then nothing happens. The file stay with "scheduled for removal" status, and it is not deleted on CVS server.
I tried to commit the package or the project, but it's the same thing.
Files additions and modifications work correctly.
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3 Preview version.
Is this a bug ? Or do I do something wrong ? Is there an other way to solve my problem ?

Problem when showing MS power point files on browser.

I don't have Office XP. But why you don't try to use application/octet-stream instead of vnd.ms-powerpoint? It should work with it.

Audio rendering problem, can't export- hundreds of hours, audio preview files hundreds of gigs

I'm working on a feature doc and trying to render and export about 4 hours of material. Please advise.
Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0 (65) Build
Mac Pro 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel
16GB 1066 MHz DDr3
OSX 10.8.5
The sequence is mixed media, this is a doc with numerous cameras and formats. Most of the footage is in multicam clips. I am able to play back OK and the video rendered in about 4 hours. Fine. But when I try and export audio, the process of generating preview files for export is unbelievably slow. I let it render for 4 hours and it got to 0.5% and created 350 gigs of preview files, larger than the picture files!!! There must be a problem with my settings or the software because this cannot be right. This is my first premiere project (after 10 years of FCP) and would greatly appreciate any advice.
I have tried:
cleaning the media cache
starting a new project with just the export sequence
restarting PPCC and the computer of course
rendering and exporting smaller sections of the timeline (ten minute chunks)
making a new sequence with multitrack audio instead of stereo playback. This allowed me to render the audio in about 1 hour- great! But when I tried to export (using an adobe preset for vimeo) it crashed. When I re-opened the project it is now back to saying it will take about 300 hours to render the same audio.
I've tried flattening the multicam, but this removes a large number of the audio files completely from the sequence. The selections I made in the multicam tracks in the sequence are not reflected in what is left of the flattened audio.

Good point. However, coupled with the fact that the Macintosh platform is more widely used for production of both audio and video in the entertainment industry than the "other" system, this cries-out the fact that audio is an important element of +some aspect+ of Apple's product focus.
Thus, it remains "a puzzlement" (to quote Oscar Hammerstein) that Apple has not paid more heed to the audio facilities and capabilities in Keynote - despite the long-time, repeated pleadings of many of us in this (and the Keynote Feedback) Forum.
Many of the problems that we are encountering and about which we are complaining have been known since the very first issue of Keynote. None has been addressed in subsequent releases. In fact, with respect to the problems of exporting Keynote presentations to other formats, some features have grown more problematic and less reliable - admittedly, not always as a function of Keynote (i.e. the problems with QuickTime).
As has been stated previously in this and other threads in this Forum, raging against Apple is futile and frustration is self-defeating. All we can do is continue to assist each other with "tips and tricks" in this Forum and to make our concerns known to Apple via the Keynote Feedback Forum.

Live Data / Problem with file permissions

Just trying out an old version of Dreamweaver MX 2004. I am
using my webhosting service for remote server/testing server
duties. It is running PHP 4.3.10 and MySQL 3.23.58. I was able to
set up the database connection and test-retrieve a recordset with
no problems. In following the tutorial I found that Livedata
wouldn't work, it just giving me a warning about file permissions
being wrong. It turns out that when Dreamweaver creates a temporary
file of the work-in-progress to upload to the remote server the
file is created on the server with owner=rw, group=rw, world=r
which explains why it won't run - group has to be set to group=r.
The file is created on the fly and then immediately deleted by
Dreamweaver so it is impossible to manually set the permission on
the server and probably fairly pointless too.
I tried just saving the file and previewing in the browser
which again causes it to be uploaded to the remote server. The
first time this resulted in the browser offering a file download
box instead of running the page. The reason is - again - that
Dreamweaver is setting the uploaded file permissions to include
group=rw. If I manually set the permission for group to group=r it
runs fine.
It turns out that Dreamweaver is always setting the file
permissions on file uploads (checked php and html) to the
remote/testing server to include group=rw. Once I set it manually
on the remote/testing server to group=r for a php file everything
is fine and subsequent uploads of the same file do not change it
again.
I checked with the webhosting company and their second-line
have reported back to me that the default file permission they set
on uploaded files includes group=r so it must be DW that is causing
the problem by setting group=rw the first time. I confirmed this by
using WS-FTP to upload the same file (renamed) to the same target
directory and the permissions set were owner=rw, group=r, world=r.
So
Can anyone please tell me how to change the permissions DW
sets on files written to a remote server because I have spent
countless hours on it without success. From looking at other posts
in this forum it could be that other users are hitting the same
kind of problem with DW8

Stop using Live Data with a hosting account. Set up PHP and
MySQL locally on
your machine. That is how it's supposed to work. You
shouldn't test files on
the fly on a host as you write them. Change your test account
in DW to use
the local server. Upload your files to your remote server
after they are
fully tested.

Preview files

Hi. A couple of things with previews.
Is it normal to have a 1 folder with 1 file in it for every preview in the preview directory ? If you delete images does the preview file and folder get removed also. I seem to have more preview folders than images. Some of the preview folders are empty.
Also I notice that when I go to folders in Library and select all pictures then scroll down the list the thumbnails seem to be blurred at first and the 3 little white dots appear as if Lightroom is re-rendering the images.
I thought that once it did them the first time it would not do them again unless the image changed.
As a new user moving from Elements 4 I am trying to get a grasp of how Lightroom is organized so any info much appreciated.
OS is Windows with SP2.

This constant rendering of thumbnails and previews is the strangest thing about LR. I have a pretty fast computer running XP Pro SP2, 3ghz dual core with 4GB fast RAM, great video card, Matrox P650 128mb and fast SATA 10,000rpm hard drives, optimized in every way recommended by Adobe and it will not stop rendering thumbnails or previews. I render standard size previews (1680) upon import and render 1:1 previews after import.
I only have about 11k images in my library, mixed JPG and Canon RAW, and I simply cannot browse my images with anything like reasonable speed. LR is the slowest image viewer I have ever tried. Free stuff like Picasa is way faster and so is cheap stuff like ACDC. I mean way, way faster.
If I show LR a big group of pictures, say 2-3,000 images, it slowly renders the thumbnails as I scroll down screen by screen. The white dots appear for a whole screen, then disappear one by one, not a whole screen at a time. Finally, after the white dots disappear the thumbnail is sharp. If I scroll down say 5 screens of images, then reverse direction, the thumbnails re-render as I go back up the list of files! The 3 white dots reappear even though those thumbnails just rendered 15 seconds before! What in the world is going on? If I try to browse images in Fit or Fill or 1:1 size, the performance is even slower.
Since my computer flies through images, thumbnail and preview, with every other photo program I have tried, I have to think that LR is the problem.

Edge Animate doesn't respond to trigger, auto-plays to the end while previewing in the browser.

I've this strange problem with EA.
I was working on a project which was doing pretty well. You may see it over here.
This afternoon I wanted to make some progress, opened the file, clicked preview in browser. What I saw was the auto-play of animation from start to end. No regard to triggers whatsoever. So, I downloaded the original file from the web server (which obviously is working as you can see from the above link), reopened in AE and tried to preview in the browser, same thing happened, doesn't respond to triggers, just auto-plays start to finish in one go. I hit publish again (with no edits, just loaded up the originals from server, saved and published.), and re-uploaded to the web server to see if it had anything to do with my local settings. It behaved same as the preview, auto play, as if there was no triggers.
Am i doing something wrong here? or is this a known bug? if so, is there a work around to this issue?

PS: I restarted the PC and reinstalled EA, that didn't help either.

Must be a problem with the graphics drivers or operating system.. Any other system malfunctioning reported ?

Master Previews disappear in Browser

Hi All
Recently when I import files (RAW) and then edit to create a new version, the new version Preview displays..but the Master preview is just a blank box. I can still view the master in Full Screen, and still edit it to create new versions...but no display of the preview in the browser.
If I view Browser AND Viewer, then the Master preview is visible again. I have only noticed this since the upgrade to 2.1.1 Have I toggled something...or is this an "undocumented feature" (cough).

If I understand the issue, I had a similar problem--sporadic previews in the browser (some thumbnails would show up, but others would not). Anyhow, if this is the problem, I read from another thread that you need to close out of Aperture and then reopen while holding the Option and Command keys... This brings up the dialogue box to "rebuild your library database". I chose the option for "consistency check" and it rebuilt my thumbnails perfectly (I didn't click on the "rebuild now" option, so I can't vouch for that).
