Problem printing a pdf

When I go to print a pdf from my new macbook pro to a hp laserjet 1200 it takes 20+min to start printing.  If I try to print 50 pages it may only print one.  Printer works fine with my toshiba laptop.  Both connect via usb

Try restting the NVRAM and other parameters of the printer:
While the printer is on, press               and hold the Go button for 5 seconds. This will reset the printer.
To reset the NVRAM. Turn the printer off. Press and hold the Go               button for 20 seconds while powering on the printer.

  • Problem printing Online PDF file

Have a strange problem printing online PDF files. The printer prints all other documents ok - Word, Pages, PDF files that are stored on disk etc. However when i try and print a PDF file online - i.e. online job application form, the printer goes into melt down. It will only print part of the first page then stops. The drive wheel pushes the paper back and forth a few times then stops. I can print each page one at a time but won't let me print all at once.
Any ideas? It does this regardless of which computer I use (both mac's). Makes no difference if the printer is connected direct via USB or Airport.
    Any ideas?
    Colin.

What kind of printer is it? Is the software up to date? Is it possible to provide the URL of the page you are trying to print?

  • Problem printing borderless PDF w/ Snow Leopard + Acrobat Pro 9 + MS Office

Create a borderless Word doc in MS Office 2008 (text or images go all the way to the edge).
Using OS X 10.5, you can select "Print to PDF" and it will print a borderless PDF. Beautiful.
Using OX X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), that's now impossible because Snow Leopard is incompatible with the Acrobat 9 PDF print engine. (See this article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html )
    Is there a solution?
This is a Snow Leopard problem, so Apple must be responsible for the solution. It worked beautifully with 10.5, and now an upgrade renders it entirely useless.
    Please help urgently.

I use US Letter and A4 page sizes frequently, but have been known to use other sizes as well. A custom hack would be great, thank-you.
Download CUPS-PDF from the link above. Download my PPD file with borderless A4 and US Letter from: http://etresoft.org/opensource/PostscriptBorderless.zip
Copy the PPD file somewhere convenient on your system. Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax > + (to add a printer).
Select CUPS-PDF. In the Print Using pop-up, select "Other" and choose my PPD file. Click the Add button.
Now when you print to CUPS-PDF, you will be able to select borderless A4 and borderless US letter. Your PDF files will show up in /Users/Shared/CUPS-PDF/<your user account>/
Although the underlying issue still remains.
That Adobe's PDF Printer doesn't work? Yes. I agree.
(To be honest, I think both of the companies should be working on solutions as urgently as possible as it's disrespectful to their long-term customers.)
Again, I agree. While I am certainly biased towards Apple, in most cases (and especially this case), it is Adobe that needs to get their act in gear. Snow Leopard was released over a year ago. Adobe had pre-release copies long before that. Their PDF printer still doesn't work. Some random guys on the internet (the authors of CUPS-PDF for MacOS X and me) were about to make the 5 minute (no exaggeration!) changes required to produce a functional virtual printer for Snow Leopard. Why can't Adobe?
Feel free to forward that to Adobe http://www.adobe.com/bin/webfeedback.cgi

  • Problems printing Interactive PDFs built in InDesign CS5

I am having issues printing PDFs that I have exported from InD CS5. I am creating interactivity in InD, such as buttons, click on, roll off, etc. The interactivity works perfectly, however, when I try to print, the PDF, the rollovers print, even though I do not want them to. The rollovers go away once I click through all of the buttons, but I do not want to have to have my client have to click through all buttons first, before successfully printing the PDF without the rollovers.
anyone have any experience with this? or solutions?
    thanks,
    aligori

    @CoGordo4:
If the answer for Peter's question is "yes", I suspect the following:
You export to PDF with the option "Export Layers: All Layers" and you have a layer set to "Show Layer" NOT checked in the Layer Options panel above your graphic with an object that obscures your vector graphic filled with the color of your background. Thus the image will be included in your exported PDF but effectively does not show.
If so, just export with "Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers".
If this is NOT the case then we possibly could circumvent the problem:
Is your placed vector graphic of the file type EPS?
Do you have Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Distiller installed?
If so, try to convert that EPS to PDF using Distiller, preflight it with Acrobat Pro and place the PDF.
If the answer is "no" (you could not see your graphic in Preview mode), some of the following could apply:
    1. The holding frame of the graphic OR the graphic inside the holding frame is marked as "Nonprinting" in the attributes palette (check both instances).
    2. The object is positioned on a layer with "Print Layer" NOT checked in the Layer Options panel and you export with "Export Layers: Visible & Printable Layers" in your PDF export settings.

  • Problems printing a pdf

how do i print a pdf file without the 'evaluation only. created with aspose.pdf.kit' printed across each page?  i have never had this problem with any previous printer. i have an hp photosmart 6515, my os is win7 32 bit on an asus netbook.
    thanks for your help

    Hi again robysam,
I did some digging and it looks like the issue is with the Aspose.Pdf.Kit software.
    Per http://www.aspose.com/documentation/.net-components/aspose.pdf.kit-for-.net/licensing.html,
"Evaluation version of Aspose.Pdf.Kit (without a license specified) provides full product functionality, but please Note : At top of all pages in the generated Pdf documents are watermarked with "Evaluation Only. Created with Aspose.Pdf. Copyright 2002-2005 Aspose Pty Ltd" as demos run with an Evaluation License."
The site says that after your trial expires (after 30 days), you will begin to see the the text on each of your PDF files.
You can apply for a temporary license by following a link on that page or follow the directions on the page to get a license.
I'm not sure why the text only started showing up after you installed the HP 6515 printer, though. It could be a case of bad timing.
    Thank you,
    Narissara

  • Problem printing scanned PDF document from iPad to HP Photosmart Plus B209a

    Hi,
I'd like to report a problem printing a scanned PDF document from iPad via HP ePrint application to my HP Photosmart Plus B209a printer. The document was sent to the printer without any issue. However, the printer only prints out the
screenshot image in the center of the PDF page, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit in an A4 paper. The rest of the document is simply ignored by the printer. The document with the problem can be downloaded in the link below:
Download PDF document with the problem
What could be wrong? Thank you in advance!

    Thanks for the reply.
I received the document from my teacher, so I don't know what program she used to scan it.
I tried to print the document directly from my PC which works fine though, so I guess the document is OK.
My HP printer is an old model which doesn't support eprint or air print, so I used the eprint application on iOS to print the document. I tried both color and black/white which gave me the same result: only the center screenshot image is printed out, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit an A4 paper, the rest of the document is just ignored.
What do you mean by saving it as a document?

  • Problem printing Acrobat.pdf files get a VMerror error. Upgraded to Mac OS X10.10 Yosemite

I really need to be able to print Acrobat.pdf files and printer window indicates pdf is being sent to the printer. Printed a test page and Word documents but not Acrobat.pdf.
Test page indicated I have Driver Name: HP338_6PPD and Driver Version: 19.8.. I have had this printer for over 10 years and it has performed very well.  Other than I can't scan anymore it has never failed to print a document.  Does Adobe need to address this problem?

Welcome back to the community, @JAJ70
I read about the "VMerror" error you are seeing when attempting to print PDF files. Although this may be an issue with Adobe, I do have some links and suggestions for you to look into.
I would suggest a power reset:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
I am unsure of which printer you have however, check for a firmware update:

  • For those of you having problems printing images/pdf

I spent awhile figuring this out as my Samsung ML-1630 printed text from TextEdit fine via Time Capsule USB, but I kept getting either errors or nothing at all when I attempted to print a PDF, web page, or image. Here is how I got it to work (I have only tested it on a Samsung ML-160 printer, but it should work for others having similar problems)
    1. Open "Print & Fax" in System Prefs
    2. Add a new printer.
    3. (important!) Choose IP at the top.
    4. For "Protocol" choose "HP Jetdirect - Socket"
    5. For "Address" use the local IP address of your Time Capsule - you can find this by opening the AirPort Utility -- mine was 10.0.1.1 by default.
    6. For "Print Using" select your printer driver
    7. Click "Add" and you should be able to print anything now
This workaround is probably due to a driver issue, but I am not for certain.

    Thanks,
This worked for printing images, but it is PAINFULLY slow. took 3 minutes or more to print a simple graphic file

  • Problems printing as pdf in Acrobat 8.2.6

If I want to create a pdf from an MS Office file, I can 'Save As' and save the file as a pdf.  This is successful. However, if I try to print to printer Adobe PDF it goes so far as to prompt me for a location  to save the file, but once I hit print it doesn't give me an error or anything but no pdf is created.  I don't care so much about the MS Office files as I do about being able to print web pages as pdfs.
I was told to go to the Distiller and set it to create log files and set error logging to on so that I could post any errors that show up.  That sounds great but I am too much of a novice at Acrobat to know where to turn on the error logging.
    Please help.
     Thanks in advance.

If anyone could please help me figure out how to print as a pdf I'd really appreciate it.  I've been looking all over forums for an answer and haven't been able to find one.

  • Problem printing a pdf. document

I cannot get pdf. files to print. I have a Macbook Pro (late 2009) running Snow Leopard; printer is a Canon MX850. I have downloaded every file that I can find from Apple; Canon and Adobe. Nothing allows the file to print. Everything else prints OK (test pages; documents). I can print the files with no problem on a PC running Vista. Is there a solution for this problem?

Are you printing from Adobe or from your web browser? I've had one or two pdf articles that did not print with Safari, but printed when I opened them in Adobe.

  • Problems printing to PDF with Acrobat 7.1.0

I'm trying to print a document into PDF file; however the size of this document should be around 31 pages. After 10 pages, I'm asked to save the next 10 as a different file. Which settings to I need to adjust to print everything into one PDF file instead of 3 or 4 separate ones?

Never had such a problem. It may be that your pages are very large or something, but I have never heard of the result you are getting. What is your application and exactly what steps (windows, etc) are you taking to create a PDF. It helps if we can try to replicate your problem.
I regularly create documents that approach 100 pages, so the 10 page issue is not the norm.

  • Problems printing to PDF from PPT 2K7

    Hi All,
I am wondering if someone here can help me. I have a user that is having an issue printing to Adobe PDF from Powerpoint 2007. He can save the file as a PDF but wants to print it so he can get a better resolution.
Office 2007 is installed on an Dell 980 XP machine SP3...
Adobe CS4 Design Premium is also installed.
When selecting 'Adobe PDF' printer and clicking OK the process starts but then crashes PowerPoint and bombs out... The error log generated saya this...
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%
    Stack:
    /mFS
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
His colleague has the same software installed on a different machine and it works fine. I also setup a new laptop with everything installed for him and he had the same issue there... We don't use roaming profiles, so really don't understand this at all.
Would someone here be able to help me out with the error log above?
    Many Thanks,
    Matt

Is this problem with every ppt file? Can you create a PDF through the Acrobat Ribbon (click Acrobat in the PPT 2k7 menu and then click create PDF)?
Can you share your ppt file with us so that we can reproduce the issue at our end.

  • Problems printing to PDF in Quark in Tiger

Since upgrading from 10.4.3 to 10.4.6, I've lost the ability to convert Quark Passport 6.5 documents to PDF. Looking through my files, I notice that my QuarkPDF.dylib file seems to have turned into a Unix Executable File. I'm assuming that this is the reason I've lost the functionality, but could be wrong. I don't see what else it could be. In all other respects, Quark works fine, I can create and save documents, and print them to a printer, just not create PDFs. Re-installing Quark doesn't help. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    G4 Digital Audio   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

That's precisely the functionality I've lost. Also, if I try and use Acrobat to convert my Quark file into a PDF, as an alternative method, I get an error message saying that the file is an unsupported type and advising me to convert to PDF from the source application. I must stress that I could do both of these things just fine before upgrading to 10.4.6., so the problem seems to be the systems fault rather than either Quark's or Acrobat's.

  • Problems printing a PDF-TopMargin cuts off

I have a PDF which has been forwarded to me.  When I try to
print it the top margin is cut off.  In other words, the top line and a half of text is not there and the document prints way at the top of the page.  This document is several pages and on each page ther text only takes up the top 3/4 of the page, so there is plent of room to shift the document down on the page and not lose anything.  Is there some way this can be done?  I have tried to find somethign in several of the menu's but haven't found anything.  If there is no way to shift the whole document down when printing, then can anyone shed any light on why this forwarded document has this problem?  Thanks.

You can crop pages in Acrobat to fix things, not Reader. You can try to Print with Page Scaling to Shrink to Printable Area.
