Problem Printing in Illus CS3 on Snow Leopard

I'm running CS3 with SL and have done all I can to try and make the Epson R1800 printer I have run with it. Are there any known issues? I've re-installed Illus, updated all the printer drivers (including the Gutenprint 5.2.4 advised to me by another forum).
I keep getting the message "can't print the illustration. the color management settings are inconsistent", as an Illus pop up once I click print.
Have looked at most Epson forums, done an Echat with their muppetry parade of advisors (one of which told me to install Internet Explorer for OSX :-) and the other told me to run a "Nozzle check"!!! I ask!
Any ideas?

Bit of a swine then all round. I have a Power RIP that I used to use but I don't think I've been using that at all for a while now, not even in 10.5
SL is possibly being uninstalled and I might be reverting back to 10.5...
Thanks for the input. I can't go that PDF route all the time though, just to get prints out. :-(
Keep well.

  • Problems printing from Epson RX500 in Snow Leopard

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. I downloaded the software update for my Epson photo RX500. Every time I try to print, I get an error message which says "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed" Does anyone know what this means, and more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks for any ideas.

I too have an Epson Stylus Photo RX500. Also just bought the new iMac with Snow Leopard. I downloaded Apple’s driver and it was installed by the system. The printer and copying are working just fine, BUT I cannot get the software for the scan to open. It comes to the dock, bounces, then disappears. I went to the Epson web site, but didn’t see any help there. It does seem that Epson has given up supporting Apple’s new computers. That, or they are just behind times. :-D I am going to try to send them an e-mail and hope that I get an answer. Frustrating, isn’t it!!

  • Photoshop CS3 on Snow Leopard color management

I have CS3 on Snow Leopard and an Epson R1900.  If I let Photoshop manage the colors the print is dark and on the red side.  If I let the printer manage the colors and use the same profile it looks much better.  I found this old thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2313020#2313020
Which says it is a known problem with Snow Leopard and Adobe is working on it.  Does anyone know if this has been resolved?

I would add two things to your list.
    a. Snow Leopard seems to use sRGB as the default profile so I would use that as the assigning profile.
    b. You should convert to Edit - Convert to Profile choosing your Printer/Paper profile (for printing color managed output) in PS before you do #1.
that thread is rather busy... its hard to pick out the good information.  It seems mostly concerned with CS4.  Do you know what issues apply to CS4 only and which issues apply to CS3/Snow Leopard?
I am not sure what you are saying in point a.  If I have a custom profile for a particular ink/paper combination I need to assign that profile, right?  Using sRGB is only useful if I want no color control at all I believe.
    b. Seems to permanently convert the image to that profile, which I would think  you would not want to do in general since you generally want to keep the image in its original format.

  • HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install

HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install
Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • HP 8150N Printer still not working with Snow Leopard

I went to the Hewlett Packard page for a new driver and was told the new driver for my printer was included in the Snow Leopard update. I'm sure it is, but my computer can't find the printer. I've used advice from other discussions and tried what I could with the "Print & Fax" feature on my computer, but so far, nothing works. The printer to a network with two other computers in my office. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I believe this to be a "generic" statement since the support agent did not know what your problem was. I have double checked, and there are no known issues with the driver for the 8150n (at least none that engineering has been informed of and is working on).
I fully believe the problem you are experiencing is due to the lack of AppleTalk in Snow Leopard.
First print out the IP address of your printer by printing the configuration page. You may also be able to get this information on the front panel if you dig.
Second, open up the print and fax control panel and click the + button to add a printer. In the add printer window that opens, select the IP button at the top, choose the protocol of HP JetDirect - Socket, and then type the IP address of the printer. If the OS automatically selects the right printer driver (and not Generic PostScript) you are good to go. Click Add Printer and happy printing.
If it doesn't auto select the right printer then your printer probably does not have an IP address that is routable from the Mac. The easiest way to get the printer to grab a new IP address is to cold reset it. Cold Reset the printer by powering it down and then powering it back up while holding down the GO button.
This should force the printer to grab a new IP address. Follow the above steps again to add the printer, and away you'll go.
One drawback of this method is if you have a network that keeps changing and a DHCP server that doesn't reserve IP addresses for devices it is possible that the printer at some point in the future updates its IP address and is no longer reachable. If this happens, simply repeat the steps and you'll be all set. The other alternative is to assign a static IP address to your printer, but that takes a bit more work.
    Just trying to help.

  • What problems are there when upgrading from Snow Leopard to Snow Lion?

I am thinking of getting a new printer, one which uses Apple's air print.  I am using Snow Leopard now.  What problems will I see when I upgrade to Snow Lion? I also use Parallels, v. 6.  Is it worth the hassle to uopgrade just to use air print?

No, not really. But there isn't that big a hassle.
Upgrade Paths to Lion and/or Mountain Lion
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.

  • Can't print from Intel Mac w/Snow Leopard to HP 2600

Can't print from Intel Mac w/Snow Leopard to HP 2600.  Upgraded from OS 10.4 and printer showed on printer list along with an Epson scanner. but continually shows printer as offline.  I finally deleted the HP Color Laserjet 2600n from the printer list.  When I attempted to re-install it, it doesn't find the printer at all.  I haven't attempted to use the scanner.  I also went to HP and downloaded the driver, no luck.  I've restarted the computer multiple times, tried it with the printer on, and printer off, as well as pulled the usb cable in and out both ends.  No error message on the printer display and it gpes through normal warmup until it shows the green light.  I run software update and it shows no updates needed.  Help!

When you press print the first window is pretty basic.
When you select print on that the next window should have an advanced option.
Click that and see if any of the options in the 3rd dropdown box allow you to specify the 'paper tray'.
    AC "
In this new windaow, click "advanced", go to "paper type/quality" and choose " best" and a photo paper. Then you will be able to choose a paper source (photo tray).
Once you have these settings, under presets do "save as", and you can choose the preset instead of going to advanced.
If you have the latest software and drivers downloaded from HP, this will work.

  • Problems with AppleScript Editor.app in Snow Leopard

I have been using the Satimage.osax scripting addition with Script Editor.app in Leopard without problem. After I upgraded to Snow Leopard, the Script Editor.app was replaced by AppleScript Editor.app in which the following one-line script
    change "," into "." in "3,1416"
compiles without error but it gives an error when I try to run it: as if AppleScript Editor.app was not able to load the ScriptingAdditions (despite the fact that it correctly shows the dictionary for the Satimage.osax scripting addition).
When I decided to get back the old "Script Editor.app" and use it in Snow Leopard to run the above script, I found... no error! It ran correctly.
Anybody observed similar problems with the AppleScript Editor.app and ScriptingAdditions?
Can anybody offer a solution other than trash the new AppleScript Editor.app and stick to the old Script Editor.app?

Post to the AppleScript forum under OS X Technologies and send a message to Satimage.

  • Anyone else having major problems with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard?

is anyone else having major problems with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard?
    - address bar and search box are not resizing with browser window. the address bar and seach box set their size to the window when Safari is launched and remain that size.
    - anytime i try to customize toolbar items disappear and i have to restart Safari to get them to appear.
    - some 3rd party icons just remove themselves from the toolbar after a period of time
    - when i drag a page from the tab bar to create it's own browser window the window disappears but is listed in the windows menu bar. when i select that window from the menu bar the window appears but i can't click on anything.
I've repaired permissions numerous times, reinstalled safari numerous times and restarted my machine numerous times and the issues all remain. i've never had any issues with Safari until now and 5.1 is looking like a huge mess.
besides the bugs above, has anyone had any luck with 1password working with Safari 5.1?

ok, i narrowed most of my issues down to Web Snapper and Videobox by TastyApps. Removed both of those and now everything works better.
I went out to lunch and came back an hour later and magically ALL of my previous toolbar icons that were added to my previous version of Safari appeared. Very strange.
as for 1password, it wasn't working at all before when i posted. everytime i tried installing the extension via the app my, Safari would open a window and hang (never load). I just tried it again and it seems to now be working.

  • Separation problems on CS3 using Snow Leopard

I am running InDesign CS3 5.0.4 version. Computer is a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2GHz. running on Snow Leopard 10.6.1. I am working on a 228 page catalog and when I try to turn on color separations the program crashes. Since I only print this catalog once a year I had not tried to turn on separations (for this catalog) since last year when the catalog was 100 pages smaller. Suddenly every time I try to turn separations on in any document it will crash.Help!! Just so there is no confusion I go to windows, output, and then turn separations on. It will show the little eyeball, then immediately crash.

What version of the OS did you have before?  Was is one of the 10.6.x's?  If you had a 10.6.x before you aren't going to notice much change with 10.6.8.  I'm not sure what that "system events" thing is you are talking about.  Maybe some else who installed 10.6.8 can chime in (I use 10.6.5).
I thought 10.6.8 only came as a combo updater.  That's still a single disk.  So I assume that's what you purchased (purchased?  it should have been in your system updates).
Maybe you are confused by the upcoming Lion OSX which has not been released yet where the descriptions talk of new features.

  • Cs3 and snow leopard spaces problem

    Hi,
Panic over about cs3, because even though Adobe is not supporting it, it seems to work ok. Touch wood. Hopefully I won't come across any annoying problems which affect my workflow. I want to wait for cs5 to upgrade.
A problem with spaces might be related to cs3 but might be a snow leopard problem.
If I drag an image over the photoshop icon, it opens that in the photoshop assigned space. If I then drag a file over the Illustrator icon, it opens it in the SAME space, not the Illustrator assigned space.
i think this is a snow leopard bug, has anyone else experienced it. It's annoying and if it is a bug hope apple fix it asap because it renders spaces useless. The whol epoint is for each app to stay in its own space not start overlapping again, causing me to have to minimise windows to see underneath.

Adobe CS 3 didn't place nice in Leopard's spaces so I think you are looking at an Adobe bug, not a new SL bug. Don't know if CS 4 does any better with Spaces or not. I'm seriously looking for alternatives to Adobe's software - they've taken on the same 'we know best - we are god' attitude Microsoft did in the mid 90s'

  • CS3 on Snow Leopard... slow slow slow

Just recently updated to Snow Leopard (iMac, intel dual, 2G ram), Photoshop is working but very slow... feel like as if it's in 1995. Don't know if this mean anything... showing on Activity Monitor, PS runs 1.9G ram... with a 20mb file open. It took, roughly, 1 min 36 second to open a 23mb file with only Mail and Safari open. Also, I cut and past a jpg image from PPT back to PS, it crashed a few times (crash = hang, I force quite it). Then it worked when reopen sometimes restart the system. It just doesn't feel right to me (I don't have data to support it but I think it was working nicely before Snow Leopard).
I know I am behind... still on CS3... I thought about update to CS4 but a lot of complains I read were mostly from people already have CS4. It made me think that it's not worth it, at least for now.
Get rid of Snow Leopard is the only solution?
    Anybody has any suggestions?
    Thanks

I posted my issue on Apply's site as well... here is one answer:
CS3 is not completely compatible with Sno. And, Adobe is not supporting CS3 on Sno. Some have more problems with CS3 than other on CS3. Perhaps, you are one of the unlucky ones. You could try some standard fixes for problems (see below), but you may end up needing to get CS4 or go back to Leopard for CS3 happiness.
    1. Get OnyX and perform any deferred maintenance you think you may need.
    2. Repair permissions and disk, the first from your desktop and the second using your install DVD.
    3. Try resetting your PRAM/NVRAM. If everything isn't fixed, then follow the steps here including resetting your SMC if necessary.
    4. Use Font Book to eliminate bad and duplicate fonts.
    5. Reinstall (or install for the first time) the .6.1 and .6.2 updates by downloading and installing the combo updater.
    6. Reinstall 10.6 using you Sno install DVD by installing Sno over Sno using the upgrade method. Test your system after returning to 10.6. If is good there, then you may not want to install the updates, .6.1 and .6.2. But, if you do, then use the combo updater again.
The time to do what this list says may well cover the cost for CS4.
Is CS4 working nicely on Snow Leopard... as well as CS3 on Tiger? I'll pay if that's true... or should I wait for the next update?
    Thanks!

  • CS3 on Snow Leopard

CS3 is noticeably slow after installing Snow Leopard. Is this a common experience?
What happened was that Photoshop got "choked" up when open big size files (180mb). Also, it seems running much slower when multiple apps were open... ps, ia, InDesign, Word or PPT. It use to work rather smoothly pre snow leopard.
I had to relaunch ps or even restart the system... in the case of opening a big file it worked find after restart the system. Feels like there is a "hole" somewhere.
If anybody had similar issues... what did you do, buy CS4? I update my apps whenever big improvements were made in new versions... really don't like the idea that the OS forces me to get the new versions... especially for package apps like CS.
    Thanks

  • Flash CS3 and Snow Leopard

Hi, i am experiencing a strange and unpleasant situation.
I am using CS3 and upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 last night, along downloading the latest Flash Player for browsers.
Problem is that now all of my text block arent displaying the same line height that before i updated?????
I compared the same exact SWF made under Tiger and those made under Snow Leopard and the two arent identical, lines are misaligned regarding line height!
What gives? Flash or OSX interpreting fonts differently?
    Thanks!

I dont know whats up with this... but all of a sudden today, in my flash cs4 (mac and PC versions) When i go to open a fla in flash to work on it, i select a text box... in the properties window under position and size --- HIEGHT-(selection hieght) value is grayed out... I opened fla's that i had don before but this also now affects them as well. I tried opening on my PC .. now it does the same thing. Every file i open now.. when i got to the properties of a text box ... the height values are grayed out. I am using Palatino roman font... in a simple text box.
    Position and size:
    x:20       y:15
    w:264     H:335.2 <-------- grayed out!!!
I have opened these files in cs3... and that now is also experiencing this......
PLEASE HELP... Im in the middle of a project --- with extreme deadlines...
    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
    my post....
saw yours.. wondering if this is related.. Im running Snow Leopard now to.. just started. Then the Height variable became grayed out. In your properties windows, are you experiencing the same??
It's killing me...Im an animator that does books... I am unable to adjust this value, and when i sent the fla to someone else... they say they see everything fine, but when i view it.. the Text spacing in multiline text box is different than discribed back to me... My line height is much larger than what he is seeing.
Please let me know if you find anything.
