Problem printing Landscape documents

Hi I have an unusual printing problem.
I just received a new Windows 7 machine and am running Acrobat 9.4.1 on it.
I receive a lot of documents in landscape mode (i.e. presentation slides), which I have always diligently printed out by hitting the print button, changing my orientation to Portrait on the Page Setup tab, then going to the Finishing tab to select Two-sided Printing, Short-edge binding, and finally Staple + Collate with staple in the upper left-hand corner.
Until getting this new machine I never had any issues with having this print out just fine.
However, when I do this now I get a printout that has the first page of the presentation flipped into Portrait mode, with the rest of the document printing exactly the way I want it.  Even more interesting is that if I hit the print button again - not having to change any settings since they were already in there from the previous print job - then it prints out perfectly fine.
I've tried this on different printers and am getting the same problem so it's not a print driver issue.

Just to add one interesting tidbit: So after printing the first presentation in Landscape - which always comes out wrong as described above - I go ahead and print out that one again and some others which all turn out fine.  However, if I then go to print a regular report in Portrait and change the print settings accordingly, lo-and-behold the first page is flipped in Landscape mode with the rest of the document in Portrait as I want it.
So it seems to be the act of changing the orientation of the document that causes the first one printed to come out bad.

  • Problem printing Report Document Draft

    Dear support,
our customer has problem printing its Document Draft Report, because
the "DRAFT DOCUMENT" string on the background of the page is too large.
The printer can manage this dimension and prints an empty second page
(also when the document has more pages).
    See attached file.
If we disable the "Print Draft Watermark on Draft Document" flag in the
Print Preferences, the customer hasn't the problem printing the draft
    document.
The customer need to distinguish the print of draft document.
Is it possible in the report designer to know if a document is a Draft or
    a Definitive one?
If we can understand the type of the document, we could add a text box
"DRAFT DOCUMENT" in the report and disable the "Print Draft Watermark on
    Draft Document" flag.
    Can someone help us, please?

    hi Emanuele Croci,
For example paper format which default as Letter, but in PLD
if y'r paper format is A4 then definitely it will be printed more than 1 page.
Go to File --> Page Set Up --> Change paper format as in PLD.
Also reduce the font by 1 point.
If problem not get solved,You can print Water mark as DRAFT from printer properties.
Start --> Printer and Faxes > Select Printer you want to print,Right Click it>Select Properties>Select Printing Preferences>Select Effects Tab> Select Water mark option as Draft>Click Apply.
Test print it let me know.
Hope above solution will solve problem.

  • Problems printing small documents

    Hi everyone,
I am a digital printer and I am running into an odd problem printing document that are smaller than 8.5 by 11. Typically I don't print from Acrobat. I usually just import directly into Command work station and then print from Fiery. However every so often I need to "print as image" to make sure the document prints as it should. I create a custom page size and make sure to choose the correct printer to format for. When I view it in my rip software the document reads as 8.5 by 11. So for example I can send business cards over at 2.25 by 3.75 and use the custom page size that matches but it still comes over as business card placed on a 8.5 by a 11 page. Does any one know how to remedy this? I am using Acrobat XI on a Mac running OS 10.9.3. I use Command Workstation 5.5 printing using Fiery rip software on a Xerox 700 digital press.

    Yes, that shoild be fine.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

Hi vhcarmona, have you tried printing a PDF from Preview? And what error messages, if any are you getting from Adobe Acrobat Reader? Have you updated all printer drivers? Also is this a resent problem? Like after an update or upgrade.

  • Problem printing pdf documents created by ps2pdf

When I try to print pdf documents that have been created from ps documents by ps2pdf, the output is corrupted. Many letters are missing but included graphics are printed just fine. This happens with my HP printer and with cups-pdf, when I print the pdf document to a new pdf document. There are no errors in the logs, so I don't know what is goning wrong. On a windows PC, the pdf documents are printed correct too. Other pdf documents, created by pdflatex are printed correct.
If I don't use ps2pdf and print the ps document directly, the output is correct. I have tried different pdf-viewers without any difference. About half a year ago, everything was working fine, so could it be related to : "As of version cups 1.5.3-3 ArchLinux makes use of the new full pdf-based printing workflow."?

    Flo,
In my limited experience with the iOS iWork apps, they weren't designed for those who are picky about the layout. They are highly automatic and if you don't like the result, it's not easy to override. If the format when printed leaves unpleasant margins, I think your best approach is to reshape the tables in such a way that they will better fit the target media. If you are having large top margin, make the tables narrower, then when they scale to fit the paper, then may fill it better.

  • Problem printing landscape files to postscript

This is a recent issue, starting when I got a completely new machine and a fresh install of Acrobat Pro 9.12 (WinXP).
When printing to landscape oriented documents to postscript (using any driver), the resulting PDF has a normal first page (turned to portrait) but all subsequent pages are scaled down to thumbnail size (on the correct size page, though) and are flipped as though they were negatives.
I've attached a mocked-up file to illustrate the problem.

  • Problems printing Acrobat documents on shared printer

I have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro. I also have an Epson 1400 printer.
When I print any Acrobat document using the printer hooked up directly to my MacBook, it prints perfectly.
When I print the same Acrobat document using the printer hooked up directly to the Mac Pro, it prints perfectly.
However, when I hook the printer to the Mac Pro and enable printer sharing, and then print the same document from the MacBook Pro using the shared printer via the network, the Acrobat document is reduced in size by around 50%. I have checked every possible setting and just can't find why this is happening.
Thanks in advance for any help!

The problem occurs not only through Acrobat. The prints have the correct size through the Mac only when the printer is directly connected via USB on the Macs but reduced size through the network. The problem occurs in any printer model on the network.
I do not know how to solve this problem but curiously does not occur with Windows computers with Bonjour that prints to the printers connected to Macs.
    When Apple will fix this?

  • Problem printing A3 document

When I print an A3 document it leaves a gap at the top, this doesn't happen with A4. I've checked that the header and footer is unticked, appreciate any help thanks

    Hi.
    Try this:
    - close all documents
    - choose File > Print presets > Define and choose "Default"
    -  Format > Choose "Paper Format" and set it to "Custom" (You may also set up other options you may find useful)
    - that's it...
I don't guarantee result, but you may give it a try.

  • Printing landscape pdf to Linux CUPS shared printer

I'm having a problem printing landscape pdf documents from Preview to printers on my Linux CUPS server. Documents print portrait style, with the right side of the document cut off. This occurs in both 10.4.11 and 10.5.2.
Using Adobe Reader or printing the pdf from the command line using lpr work correctly to the shared printer.
Printing directly to the printer (not through the server) is the only way Preview prints it right.
    My CUPS server is:
    Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy
    CUPS 1.3.7

I'm having the same problem. I have a Lexmark x9350 that is shared through Airport Extreme.

  • Sorry for my ignorance but i'm having problems printing

    Hi
I am very new to indesign and to print graphics.  I am not new to web graphics.
I am having problems printing a document that I have created in InDesign CS5.  Now I have learnt that I need to calibrate stuff with ICC profiles but I am not sure what I am doing.
Do i need to create aan ICC profile for my monitor and printer?
How do I get these to worl with InDesign?
I suppose I need to tell you what is going on.   When I print my document which is mostly different shades of grey, most of the different grey shades are nearly black and I can only just see the differentces in shades between the grays.  Now on my monitor they are distinctly different and can easily be seen.
So what steps do I nee dto get these colours right?
    Cheers

For good reproduction you need an accurate monitor profile (this is done with a colorimeter or spectrophotometer --that's overkill for just the monitor, but it can do the printer, too -- and profiling software) and an output profile for the printer and paper combination. The industry standard EyeOne colorimeter package is around $200, the spectrophotometer will cost quite a bit more.
There are services that will profile your printer for you, too, but learing to do it yourself will cost less over the long haul if you are really serious about the output quality. In theory you need to recalibrate and profile printers on a regular basis, especially when you change ink or toner. Out here in the real world, though, I suspect most of us who are not producing commercial color output just do it once and live with it until the results are no longer acceptable and the profiles need to be updated. I proof for internal use on my color laser, for example, and it hasn't been re-profiled for about three years. It no longer matches waht I see on the monitor exactly, but it's still fairly close and the prints are for my own use. I always get a proof from the printer when it's time to go to press.
Of course not all monitors and not all printers are created equal. Some monitors are incapable of showing fine gradtions in sahding in the dark or very light grays, and many, if not most, printers can't capture all of the shades you can see on screen.
For any given printer resolution, such as a 600 dpi printer, the higher the linescreen value used to print, the lower the number of shades that can actually be produced. Halftone spots (which is what are used to fool you into seeing gray using only black ink) are made up of groups of printer dots, and you can't print half a printer dot, so, for example, 600 dpi printer outputting at 100 lines per inch linescreen, uses about 36 printer dots to make each halftone spot (it might be a little different because the shape of the halftone spot is seldom a square). The best you can get from 36 printer dots is 37 levels (no dots to all dots), so the best you can hope for is about 3% steps.
Add in dot gain, the spread of ink or toner as it's absorbed into the paper and which is more prominent at darker shades, and your shadows tend to plug up, and the very light shades may not show at all. Less than 5% dot, for example is extremely hard to print on most lasers.
A really good book on the subject is Real World Scanning and Halftones, and a great book on color management in general is Real World Color Management.

  • Problem printing documents four up in lanscape?

I have a problem printing documetnts 4 up in landscape.
The first page will print 4 cells to the first page in portrait mode, even though I have selected landscape, the rest of the document will print 4 up in landscape.
When I have to produce more than 1 copy, all cpoies will have the same fault.  To get around this I have to print 1 copy, which will have the error then, without leaving the print setup screen, print the other copies which will be fine, i.e 4 up in landscape on all pages including the first page.

what are you trying to print using which printer and from which application.
